Outer Edge of the Orion-Cygnus Arm, Milky Way

Date: 2129 CE (Earth Standard Calendar)


A new planet, 8232 Pegasi IV or Calypso Major, has been discovered just on the edge of the Human Republic's territory. Initial scans and reports show the planet to be a Type 1 planet (an Eden World) with near Earth-like conditions. After over a year of back and forth in by lawmakers, the planet has been open up for colonization by nations, corporations, and individuals. The only caveat is that all colonies must fall under the laws of the Human Republic.

Alright, quick recap. This is something of a mixed RP, with aspects of both nation and normal RP. Gameplay will take place both as an individual character, the leader of your faction, and as the faction as a whole. You will engage in normal RP behavior (fighting enemies, talking with NPCs, etc) and guiding your nation/corporation as the local authority.

To hopefully make this slightly more clear, a normal post might look something like this:

GM A merchant has come into the Calypso System. His inventory includes 1 gun, 1 pie, and a cow. Everything is first come, first serve

Player 1, your people are throwing a celebration of a great harvest and have asked you to make a speech. What do you say?

Player 2, bandits have been seen in the wilderness outside your colony.


In response to the merchant, each player could just say something such as “Colony 1 welcomes the merchant and requests a price for the cow.”

Player 1, might respond “Bob stands in front of the crowd and says ‘Good job ya’ll!’ before walking away”.

Player 2, might resond “Joe arms himself and gathers a posse of armed guards. They all leave at dawn in search of the bandit’s nest.”

If there’s any uncertainty about how gameplay might work, please feel free to ask. I understand that this might be somewhat unclear.

Calypso Major is uninhabited. Everyone will be arriving at the planet around the same time via colony ship and will have to establish a new settlement. Each character will be arriving on the planet with a large group of settlers and plenty of supplies.

The exact reason for your character coming to the planet is up to you. Perhaps you're coming for new resources for your company. Perhaps your setting up a military outpost for your nation. Maybe you're a hippy and are setting up a commune with like minded people. It's up to you.

His appearance in the photo is quite accurate, however he prefers to were what amounts to armor, often in more silvers and pale blues as is the colors of his tribe.

PERSONALITY
Milo is a strong voice that breaks the silence of his people, as well as a just hand as needed, he is thought of by some to be a avatar of their deity, strong willed, stubborn, and unyielding, though also kind and generous to his people. he treats outsiders with respect, but not kindness, they are seen for what they are, unknown. Milo is hard to befriend, and easy to offend, but those that have made him an ally will always know that should things become dark, he will have your back, should you find him as an adversary, you will see his determination.

BIOGRAPHY
Milo was not born into nobility nor was he seen as a prodigy, he was merely a lowborn child, destined for nothing. In his youth, Milo displayed a great respect for a tribal deity, the Iron God, he was lesser known, and only worshiped by few, but Milo took to the deity with vigor, the belief that determination and willpower were enough to bring him anything. Milo strove to become a soldier, and soon, he would be accepted to the tribes militia, he was a young man with many dreams but no amount of will could change status. Ranks passed Milo with every passing day but even as he stood as a general, leading numerous men, he was still outside of his dreams, until one fateful evening a rivaling people from far away arrived on the pretext of peace, it was a bloodbath, betrayal at all ends, the only one to have warned against it was Milo, now with their lord dead, there were few to turn to, so in this moment, Milo stood, as the generals squabbled and politicians vied for power, Milo took to the town, and began to rally the masses. Soldiers, artisans, farmers, anyone that could hear him, this self made man, a symbol of the people, standing among those he cared for Milo gathered the people, and marched on the capital building. After a short civil war, Milo chose that the best option was not to stagnate under the rule of men unable to stand firm against their foes, he would lead his people away to seed The Iron gods heart in the light of distant stars, and so he lead his people on the expedition out into the far reaches to a new planet, Calypso Major.

DESCRIBE THE FACTION.
The Ironclad tribe is a spliter faction of a nation known as the Aviisians supposedly founded by a goddess named Aviisi, she molded her fellow gods from the land around them, a god of wind, earth, flame, water, and iron, each god forming life around them, and supposedly Aviisi created the people of the tribe with the aid of all of them. These people could harness the world around them and prospered. Whether this story has merit isn't important, what is important is what they have done, they have managed to create from a primitive tribe to nearly a bustling nation, the Lords of the city have passed down leadership since time immemorial. The Aviisians have always been a decently strong militaristic people however trade is often far easier than war and is the preferred method of dealing with others, it wasn't until the current leadership that the Aviisians had made a commotion with military might, Lord Milo Ardentum I, a military general and religious zealot has stirred the people into a frenzy and have loaded his people onto a colony ship, and under his guidance he and his people believe that no one will stop them as long as they are resolute, they will carve a home from this land with all they have and remove and obstacles that would hinder their gods path. They have since taken the moniker of their god and now call themselves the Ironclad.

For the most part everything looks good. However, I just now realized that I completely spaced and didn't mention an important part of the RP and you'll likely need to make slight adjustments to your Character.

I apologize deeply for the misunderstanding and for not making that clear. I've gone through and added a paragraph before the CS to clarify that.

Jonathan Witman is like many of his nation. He has a strong belief in political social and religious freedom. Being a officer in the frontier militia he is very dependable and capable man who has been known to be very friendly and out going with almost everyone he meets
BIOGRAPHY
Jonathan was born in a poor family. The second of six children he had grown up in "the struggle" as they would call it. Daily life was a struggle, from the gangs,crime, lack of quality food and living day by day on whatever money the family could rake in. At the age of 13 he had to make money to help support his family. His first job was a handyman at a small family owned cafe. Sympathetic to his family's issues they offered him an easy under the table job of taking out the trash,sweeping floors and helping the staff in their duties. It was here where Jonathan met a woman who had a big influence on his life. The owner and Jonathan's boss was a woman by the name of Sarah Fisher, a veteran and mother of three who had a very similar life as Jonathan. She once told him about the old west, where a man could make his Fortune and be free. Where you lived off the land and depended on you and yours. The idea fascinated him, when the coalition, then the a small independent corporation, were seeking colonists he signed up immediately. When the coalition signed a defensive pact with several small colonies. As more and more small independent companies and homesteaders joined Jonathan enlisted in the newly created frontier militia.

Arisia is rather short and petite, giving her a “damsel in distress” look, even though nothing could be further from the truth. She prefers wearing a combat suit and never goes anywhere without a gun and a knife.

PERSONALITY
Arisia is very friendly and outgoing, especially with the common people – miners, workers, soldiers. She might be a bit impulsive, but her good intuition and quick decision-making rarely lets her down.
She is no stranger to diplomacy, but tends to rely on her military training when diplomacy is about to fail.

BIOGRAPHY
She was born into a wealthy family, yet nothing was given to her for free. Always in a shadow of her older brother, she tried to do everything to impress their father. She went through the best schools, or, in her case, suffered through the best schools would be more appropriate. She always preferred to run outside and fight with her friends rather than quietly sit and study.
Even though she disliked school, she finished it, because her father wanted her to. Even though she didn’t want to live the “high society” life, she frequently visited banquets and various business meetings, because her father wanted her to. The older she became the more she realized that no matter what she does, she will always be the second, long way behind her brother, so she stopped trying.
Suddenly, she was free to do whatever she wanted. She traveled a great deal, working on her father’s mining stations with common miners, getting a military training and briefly working for a mercenary organization.
After a few years she got back in touch with her family. Surprisingly enough, her father was rather impressed by her “rebellion” and offered her a job running small mining operation on a planet with very hostile environment. Arisia did an exceptional job there and, against all odds, managed to start a smooth and successful operation.
Ever since her father offered her to lead the colonization expedition to Calypso Major, she has been putting together a team of reliable and trustworthy people.

DESCRIPTION OF LEADER
Even though Devan inherited the family company from his father, doesn’t make him any less capable and fearsome leader. He is smart and well-educated, but furthermore he possesses a trait every leader should have – he is an excellent judge of character. That allows him to choose his companions carefully and avoid unpleasant surprises when dealing with other factions and corporations. It is also the reason why he chose his daughter Arisia to lead the mission on Calypso Major over her older brother Wes, who is to inherit the company one day. Devan appreciates her intuition and ability to make right choices in unexpected circumstances. That, and also interstellar traveling and planets colonizing isn’t without a risk – and who would want to lose his heir when he has a suitable, expendable replacement?

Bakari mining guild history spans over several generations. The company originally started as a small mining operation on an insignificant asteroid with large deposits of Edritium and Casmal. At the time, these materials were mostly ignored, because while they had some good use in electronics, obtaining them from raw ores in sufficient quantity and stability was very hard and expensive.
Founder of the company, Alex Bakari, realized the potential of the ores, and even though all advisors told him to invest his last money to try to get better mining grounds, he paid researchers and scientists instead. And in a year, he could completely revolutionize mining of these ores by a patented new method which is still used even today.
From that time, every generation of Bakari family added something to the company, leaving it one of the biggest players in the mining market of today. There is also a long tradition of funding various researchers in their private research lab. Money from patenting new technologies are a big addition to the company wealth.

APPEARANCE
Standing at around 6'5'', Theran's body is heavily augmented, with both of his arms being full replacements, as well as his left leg. Even his head shows the scars and tiny bolts of having been sliced into, with tiny sub-dermal wires tracing down to his left, cobalt blue, eye. A "consummate professional" Theran is constantly wearing a suit, eschewing combat armor almost entirely.

PERSONALITY
A charming and charismatic sort, if a bit smug and self-assured, its not hard to see why someone might actually like Theran or at least respect him. But spend enough time with the man and you begin to see, no.. not see... more feel, how every word in a conversation is thought out, a quiet waltz that Theran dances with his words. At times he can also come off a bit cold and very business like, but this break of composure usually takes some prodding to achieve.

However whether you chose to dance his dance or simply wish to pass the time, there will always be the option for a drink and a cigar.

BIOGRAPHY
A child of a lower middle class family, Theran learned from a very young age to not expect the universe to drop anything at your feet, to build your own way with your own two hands. As he grew, so to did this ideal as he began to spend much to all of his free time pouring over books in the library and talking with older, more experienced individuals. As he entered into high-school, he finally began to move from general reading, to the more specialized fields, mainly applied mechanics and bio-mechanics. His efforts did not go unnoticed and eventually he was pointed towards The Atmari Combine. Wary at first, Theran eventually accepted the job as an intern after school. At first it was slow going, but after winning over a couple of the scientists in the division he was assigned to his education began to be fast tracked and eventually this high school junior was pointing out the flaws in designs that were made by people decades his senior.

Eventually Theran managed to get into one of the largest tech collages in the world on scholarship, continuing to moonlight as a paid intern of the Combine. In his second year however tragedy struck, as an accident caused a massive explosion to rip through the lab he was working in. The force and heat of the blast almost killed the young man, crippling several of his limbs beyond repair, causing massive internal damage to both his torso and to his head. It was only though the intervention of the Combine that Theran lived, gaining his augment prosthesis in the process. He was able to complete his education, earning a masters, before going to work for the Combine proper. Climbing up the rungs of the corporate ladder, quickly becoming the section head for the Icarian Division of the Combine.

DESCRIPTION OF LEADER
The current head of the Armari Combine, Terissa from the outside is viewed as an aloof, shrewd and shadowy figure, her presence being felt by way of agents and various third party factions from the Combine long before you meet the woman. But woe to the person who thinks that this quietness is indicative of incompetence, as they will so find that Terissa seemed to have been born for the business she is in. She conducts herself on the job like a spider ensnaring prey, ruthless, efficient, without pity or remorse, the only goal is the continued existence of the predator. This doesn't mean she is completely heartless outside of work however, as she does show some empathy to her employees (at least those who actually meet/talk with her) and is a strong advocate for the humanitarian initiatives started by the Combine.

When dealing with the many divisions of the Combine she likes to give them a sense of self autonomy from the main whole. But, it would be wrong to think that she has completely removed herself from the process, in truth she stays as up to date of the various projects as she can be so she is able to respond to whatever comes her way.

The picture is accurate to appearance except she has a small scar in between her left eye and nose, and she is 5'7''. Veronica has a variety of suits for combat situations from a small stealth suit to a 15 foot Mech.

PERSONALITY
Veronica has two great passions: Science and Humanity. She leads with confidence in her abilities as well as the abilities of her people. She is a hard worker but knows how to have a good time with friends. Her friends have described her as a mother figure, she is kind and compassionate but will not hesitate to do what it takes to protect her people. Veronica is a stern negotiator and prefers diplomacy to conquest.

BIOGRAPHY
Veronica was in awe as a child when massive colony ships left for distant worlds, medical technology could heal diseases previously thought to be incurable, computers could simulate more than a brain ever could, all of this ignited an insatiable appetite for progression. She joined a military academy at age 15, focusing on combat medic and technician roles. She was working on a brand-new mech when there was a malfunction that caused it to collapse onto her. She was barely saved, taking the lesson of methodical care with her new scar. She was given an opportunity was she reached the rank of Colonel, her aptitudes had indicated her as a good candidate to command her own research wing instead of fighting. She worked as a researcher for a few years before being being given an offer she couldn't refuse. She would be allowed to take three platoons and her entire research wing to a new planet to start a colony. She would be given full control as long as she sent back all research to the military, they could also use the colony as a base if need be. So she set off for Calypso major, getting to know her crew as they took the long journey to an alien planet.

Created by General Stevenson Micheals to expand the control of the nation he loved, with the side goal of gaining more power for the military he controlled. They wanted to have a site where any kind of research could be done without regulation. There was also a feeling that soldiers training and being raised there would be better soldiers, toughened and battle hardened.

Finally done! Sorry if it took a little bit, got a touch unexpectedly busy the past couple days. If its alright I am going to ad more to the description (mainly information on the Icarian Division, and the reasons the Combine is part of the colonization) but honestly that's just more extra fluff
