"Have I ever thought of becoming a hero? Yes. But I figured it was too much of a pain to keep sucking up to people, so I decided against it."
Personal Information
Name: Ryuuji Arukomiya
Nicknames: Ryuu
Villain Name: Shadow Traveler
Age: 28
Gender: Male
Appearance: Ryuuji has a relatively unassuming overall appearance. There's nothing too unique about him that would make him stand out in a crowd, which does play to his advantage. He has a mop of unruly black hair that reaches the back of his neck in length with some hair jutting out here and there. He has stormy gray eyes that usually holds little emotion despite what he outwardly portrays. There is a look of constant boredom on his face as his neutral look, as if he isn't even enjoying life as it is. To be honest, it may truly be that. He isn't above the occasional smile and smirk though, so he doesn't look that old yet.
For how he dresses, he doesn't dress in eye catching clothing. A simple shirt and pants are his usual go-to choices, coupled with the occasional jacket or sweater. When it gets particularly cold, which is most of the time for him, he wears gloves and a scarf. He has a rather athletic build, but no impressive muscles to show off - not that he wants any. His body is littered with scars and bruises earned through years of villainy.
His supervillain suit isn't even that impressive. It's just reinforced clothing to take in hits. It's just a thick black jacket and cargo pants with combat boots and gloves. He wears a black mask with a built in filter in it. The black mask comes with built in goggles as well.
Equipment
Weapons: Ryuuji has multiple throwing knives hidden in his villain costume and sometimes in his civilian clothing as well. He has two additional combat knives that are holstered in his jacket that he can easily get. He carries around a high voltage taser around with him in both civilian and villain persona - but he does legally own it so people do not have the right to take it away from him. Aside from those, he uses his environment to his advantage.
Villain Equipment: His villain suit is insulated to keep the heat inside so he doesn't fall to hypothermia quickly. It is also reinforced so that he wouldn't be too damaged when taking hits. His mask has a built in filter to keep him safe from hazardous chemicals in the air - and to also avoid getting caught because of them. The built in goggles can switch between night vision and normal vision - and he is currently working on making thermal vision.
Combat Section
Strength: Ryuuji is not particularly strong. In fact, he's on the weaker branch when it comes to strength. It's mainly why he resorts to using strategic usage of his Quirk along with his weaponry to make up for this weakness.
Endurance: While he does not easily succumb to fatigue, as he has trained in building up how long he can go on without passing out, tanking hits is another topic entirely. While he is capable of taking hits every now and then, he can be quickly incapacitated by well placed hits. It's why he needs to dodge so frequently.
Willpower: Ryuuji is not capable of feeling many emotions despite how he acts. Little can scare him and nothing can make him guilty or disgusted.
Speed: Even without teleportation, Ryuuji is quite agile. While he isn't in the Olympic range, he is a little above average.
Reaction Speed: Ryuuji excels in this area. You have to when you're a teleporter with experience when under fire. When he appears, he has to be able to register what is happening around him to determine whether it is safe or not and teleport again if it's not. This is one of the few edges he has when it comes to combat.
Quirk Section
Name of Quirk: Disappearing Act
Ability of Quirk: At its very core, it is a teleportation quirk. It works just like any other teleportation. The user disappears from one point and appears on another different point. However, for this one, he disappears in a mass of black mist. On the point where he would reappear, a black mist would also be found forming only a second before he would appear. It is a rather simple quirk that can be used over and over again without much punishment to the user. Of course, the energy that would be used would be equivalent to how far the user wants to teleport to. But for a trained user, it isn't much of an issue for travel. For a trained user, teleportation is rather easy and quickly done - sometimes surprising others in how quickly he can escape.
Qualities of Quirk: Ryuuji's usage of his Quirk is much like anyone else who can teleport. He can use it to expertly dodge bullets and place himself at strategic points where he can attack. He has one particular like of teleporting to the sky and then allowing the victim to fall before disappearing himself before be goes splat on the ground.
Strengths of Quirk: In a snap, the user can disappear and appear on another point, away from danger as long as he knows where he's going. This can be done continuously in short bursts, especially when he's only teleporting five meters away each time.
Weaknesses of Quirk: First off, the black mist, when seen by someone else, gives off where he would be in a moment. Shooting at the black mist would result in him having a sixty percent chance of being hit, or somewhere close to that. He also would need to physically touch something to teleport it with him. For now, he is only able to teleport something with a mass of five average men. He must have also been or at least seen the place he would be teleporting to, and remember it quite well. Having a physical image (a picture) would probably be for the best if he's going to a new place. Continuous usage may result to hypothermia - as the user's body grow colder as it is used. It must be noted that it would take a long while of continuous usage before it even gets relatively cold, and it can be stopped through insulation of the body.
Limits of Quirk: He isn't capable of teleporting for more than ten kilometers, and it would result in him freezing if he attempts to teleport that far thrice. He can only teleport something with a mass of five average people - though it may improve with more training.
Background
Biography: Ryuuji actually started off relatively fine. He has two parents present in his childhood, though they were away most of the time, and a younger sister named Reina - younger than him by six years. He was rarely seen with a frown as he was a happy and content child. But there was something wrong with him, he doesn't seem to mind any sort of criminal behavior - sometimes even doing some himself. Theft was usually what he did, and he was worryingly good at it. Pivkpokcting, shoplifting, small crimes like those were usually what he resorted to - and he has done it more times than he was caught. He was often reprimanded but he never felt that it was wrong.
When he was only eleven, his parents died due to a tragic accident involving a villain. Now, you would think that it sparked something in him to be a hero - but it did not. He stayed in an orphanage with his younger sister. Instead of being the happy boy he was, he began to become less interested in what was happening around him. He only ever talked cheerily with his sister, but was mostly bored when it came to other people. His sister turned out fine though, as she befriended most of the children and caretakers. Despite her protests and Ryuuji's obvious dependence on her, only she was adopted by a nice couple leaving Ryuuji alone in the orphanage.
First few years were fine but it was obvious that he wanted out. Since he had practiced his Quirk by himself frequently, he found his ticket out. One night, he disappeared and then he began his life on the streets. This was when he was fourteen. And that was when he met a member of the Dark Tree - a rather young man who saw potential in the young criminal and got him in. He was trained for a full year before being sent to U.A. Academy to train and collect information on the upcoming heroes. In his stay at U.A., he was never swayed to be good as he acted rather excellently as a goody two shoes.
Upon graduation, he disappeared from the Hero grid as he went back to the Dark Tree and was promptly transferred to America so that no one would be too suspicious. There, he rose through the ranks as an information gatherer and sometimes, "the getaway guy". Ryuuji felt no need to betray the group as they played to his interest - to create chaos and to earn money. Ryuuji also studied up on multiple languages while he was there to better communicate with other information brokers for their boss. Only recently, around three years ago, he was transferred back to Japan.
Ryuuji visited his sister, only to find out that she had died due to negligence of her adoptive parents to her health. It took a while before he found out the reason why she had died five years ago. Upon finding it out, he asked for one of his co-workers to cover for him and then went off to find the couple. Upon finding them, he spared no expense in making their lives terrible before ending their lives. He took sweet pleasure in doing so - as killing never felt so right. He didn't understand why he felt that way before someone told him that it was because he was doing it for revenge - for something personal instead of just being in it for the money. It at least gave him another step forward in understanding emotions. He regularly visits Reina's grave, around once every two months. She was the only one he ever cared about - and the only one he ever will.
Personality: Ryuuji, when it comes down to it, is a rather selfish person who only ever thinks about himself and how things would benefit him. He has little to no care about the people around him. He is capable of working with other people and knows how to listen to orders. In fact, he's great at following orders as long as it wouldn't land him in jail, or worse. He is capable of communicating well with others, but chooses not to do so in laziness. In fact, there are a lot of things he could do if not for his choice of not doing it because he finds it too much trouble. Though once he's set his mind on something, you can bet that he will see it to the end unless something extremely inconvenient rolls around which would make him stop and rethink if it was the right decision.
Ryuuji lacks the ability to empathize with people. He claims to have lost that when he lost his little sister to a freak accident. It's one of the reasons why he doesn't feel bad in working as a villain. It's not that he's a seasoned veteran - but because he's shed off that side of him from way back when. He attempts to understand these feelings that people give off, given that he has felt them once before, but he finds it rather hard to connect with others on a personal level.
Ryuuji is a strategic person. To make up for his lack of physical prowess, he makes strategies. He's rather smart and observant. He thinks before he acts, and rarely acts upon impulse. This also leads to him over thinking things and having trouble with improvising because of it. Though once he gets his bearings, he would do fine. Aside from fighting, he's also book smart. He was able to learn five languages - English, German, French, Mandarin and Filipino - while he was in America. His mind works in a way in which he is capable of holding a conversation while thinking of other topics at the same time. He can get immensely curious and invested in something, and it would be hard to pull him back from it.
