History:The subject grew up in the city of Toronto, Canada. His father worked as a lawyer in order to support a family of four. Johnathan is the younger sibling to his sister Margret. Upon reaching age sixteen O/F Shapiro entered the University of Toronto early, receiving higher education for a law degree in order to follow in his father's footsteps. His schooling was cut short by the beginning of the war, when Johnathan showed interest in the war effort, later joining the RAF through the Canadian Dominion. He was found adept at flying small fighter craft and was transferred to the British Isles for further instruction. Due to O/F Shapiro's intelligence and resourcefulness he was recommended by his superiors for Project Turin.
The Following information has been deemed Classified by Project Overlook.
Johnathan Hilmore Shapiro grew up in Marion Ohio USA with his mother, father, and older sister Margret. His father worked as a lawyer giving the family a fairly decent life even during the depression, and at sixteen Johnathan did indeed leave home to travel to Toronto Canada wishing to achieve a higher education in law. Shapiro was always a fighter at heart and was well known for getting into scuffles during grade and high school. His wild demeanor dulled slightly while in Toronto university, however the old vigor was reignited with the heightening tensions in world politics. In 1939 Shapiro graduated from his major in law, but instead of returning home he signed on with the Canadian military.
Despite the illegality of his actions, even with a degree in law hanging over his head, Shapiro joined the RAF in early 1939, completing his basic training later that year. Noting his particular skill in small fighter planes Shapiro's commanders transferred him to Great Briton to have him train to become a Spitfire pilot. Once there he finished his instruction with flying colors, and several new unexplainable tests before receiving orders to join the need-to-know Turin Squadron
Name: Arthur Howell Rank: Flight Lieutenant. Serial Number: 354-78-113. Date of Birth: 6.6.1916 Place of Birth: Cardiff, Wales. Physical Appearance: Arthur Howell is a slim, tall and young Welshman, red headed and clean shaven. He is about 184 centimetres tall and weighs about 77 kilograms, or about six feet and 180 pounds. He has a lively, though lean face and high cheekbones and short hair. His body is more wiry than muscular. Craft: Spitfire. Callsign: Gold Leader / Thirteen (nickname during flight and officer training)
Psychological Evaluation:
Flight Lieutenant Arthur Howell, aged 24, born on June 6th, 1916. Father Francis Howell deceased at the age of 31 at Somme. Mother Sarah Howell (née Clark), aged 52, alive and well. F/O Howell has served His Majesty for five years with impeccable service record. Graduated from flight school with flying colours. Physically, Howell appears in top shape for a man of his age with top notch vision. His character hints at humorous nature, and he a polite, good mannered officer, although his remarks contain sarcastic tones at times.
Howell is an Anglican, but also an agnostic in his views. When questioned if he believes there's life beyond Earth, he politely said "There's life on the bottom of the sea, and on the Poles, so why there couldn't be life on other planets? They might not be familiar in form or function, but there might be life." It seemed he was keen on conversing on the subject, but we had to continue the evaluation.
Howell responded well into the images and non-euclidean geometry, and showed little difficulty of handling such shapes. "I have imagined worse creatures", Howell pointed out and referred to few horror writers I hadn't heard of.
Howell's service records show that he can handle stress quite well. He pushed himself more than others did during the flight training, and showed quick reflexes and thinking in combat training and simulations. He could outmaneuver most of his comrades and superiors in simulated dogfights in most of the occasions, and has shown himself as a capable, and a tough but fair instructor. He doesn't yet have combat experience, but if his records can give any hint, he should make a formidable opponent for the BF-109 pilots in his Spitfire.
He seems to be a sportsman, giving his comrades and trainees sound advice, but also asking them to pull their weight for the team. Howell is not going to give up easily.
According to Howell, his worst fears include the fear of leaving a wingman behind, being burnt to death, and vampires. He noted the last part was due to one Bram Stoker. I can recommend him for frontline duty in the Turin Squadron.
History:
Born in Wales during the First World War into a upper middle class family. Arthur's father Francis died soon after his birth in the battle of Somme in France. Arthur was thus raised mostly by his mother Sarah, but also by countless uncles, aunts and other family members. He did well in school, especially in history and religion, and was quite average in natural sciences, though he had an interest in aerial vehicles and machines. Arthur, for example, had a collection of toy planes, and he followed the development of planes and aircraft quite closely and keenly. He also had an interest on horror literature.
Arthur has liked reading Dracula, and many other horror and science fiction stories. For example, H.G. Wells books, especially War of the Worlds, The Island of Doctor Moreau and The Time Machine have fueled his curiosity on space and sciences. While he's not a scientist, Arthur has talked about aliens with a couple of his childhood friends, who've become physicists. Thanks to reading Dracula at a young age, Arthur is afraid of vampires, even if his family insists they don't really exist.
When he was sixteen, Arthur started to play rugby. Although he was quite slim for the sport, he was more agile and faster runner than most of team mates. Arthur has always been more wiry and lean than outright muscular, making a good runner.
When Arthur turned 19 in 1935, Arthur applied for RAF, and entered the fighter pilot training. Arthur was bullied for his red hair, and nicknamed "Thirteen", often seen as an unlucky charm by some aristocratic cadets. Arthur was undeterred, and was motivated to show his comrades and superiors he could become the best pilot of the bunch. He became the cadet with some of the best grades during his training, and before the war, Arthur has spent most of his time in the Air Force as an instructor and adviser. As the things turned ugly in France, he was taken into active combat duty and recommended for the Turin Squadron as a potential candidate.

Hair is colored brown. Irises are green. No tattoos or significant scars. Aircraft: Supermarine Spitfire Callsign: Gold Three Psychological Evaluation:
The subject in question, F/O Kenneth D. Rader, was born 16th of November, 1918. Mother is a Registered Nurse, father is employed by the Tennessee Valley Authority. Father served in the United States Army with the 117th Infantry Rgt, 9th Infantry Division (redesignated 30th ID) in 1918 during the Second Battle of the Somme. Stated reasoning for joining was to, quote, “serve even if my country won’t.” Graduated from No. 9 Air Crew School in Ontario, Canada in October, 1939, 4th most proficient in his class.
In No. 9 ACS, subject expressed a quality described by himself and others as ‘grit’, a perceived phenomenon manifesting by courage and diligence despite failures and setbacks. Noted as a potentially useful trait in the Turin project.
Structured evaluation results are as follows:
1.1 Subject expressed belonging to the Methodist denomination of the Protestant division of Christianity. When questioned about existence of extraterrestrials, subject answered, quote, “Would be boring if there was nothing out there.” When questioned about the vastness of space, subject shrugged and gave no verbal answer. Lastly, the question on the significance of the Human race was met with a question of whether the question could be answered without other extraterrestrials or a sense of scale to compare to.
1.2 Subject, in the 45-minute time allotted, expressed a rudimentary understanding of the subject, passing the 15-question written exam with 12/15.
1.3 The subject, while disgusted, could not be described as horrified, rather intrigued at the material pertaining to the graphic stimuli. The portion pertaining to the theoretical monsters incited the subject to express questions of the authenticity of the photos, however was satisfied given the explanation of the ‘theoretical’ portion.
1.4 The subject, within the portion pertaining to discomforts, fears, and phobias, expressed a slight discomfort at the sight of blood, but other subject matters pertaining to death incited the response, quote, “Lord, let it be quick should it happen.” Phobias expressed include extreme Glossophobia, the phobia of public speaking, along with Enochlophobia, the phobia of crowds. Noted that the two phobias most likely are the result of eachother. When the subject was questioned on what experience might have caused the phobias, the subject provided no comment.
Overall, the subject expressed the inherent qualities essential for recommendation for the Turin project. The presence of ‘grit’, this inherent courage, aligns with the qualities required for the project, and demonstrates acceptable mental fortitude. The structured evaluation results showed a slightly above average academic understanding, and a healthy ability to reason and be open to the presence of things outside the sphere of comfort.

Name: Shamus Gordon E. Doncliss Rank: Squadron Leader Serial Number: 885-796-43 Date of Birth: June 7, 1913 (falsified by guardian) Place of Birth: Melbourne, Commonwealth of Australia Physical Appearance: 5'10, thin black hair, gaunt, lanky yet muscular frame of about 150 lbs. Dark brown eyes. Aircraft: Spitfire Callsign: Ghost Leader
Psychological Evaluation:
Subject is generally cold, calculating, and self-serving in nature. He holds a subdued disdain for authority, and finds it difficult to establish long-term personal relationships with his peers. Subject exhibits several symptoms of moderate clinical psychopathy, including a lack of empathy for both friend and foe and difficulty in experiencing or expressing emotion. However, subject does not pose an immediate threat to comrades.
Subject is not especially patriotic nor holds treasonous political views; in his own words, he ‘just flies the plane’. Subject’s goals in life are to mainly rise through the ranks in the service and gain more flight victories.
Subject barely believes in a God and does not think He is omnibenevolent. His personal outlook on the universe is one that is heartless, ignores humanity, and has no sense of justice or closure. When asked about a certain code or mantra that governed his being, subject indicated that the closest things he had to such a mantra were the writings of Charles Darwin and his theory of natural selection. Subject did not believe virtue had any place in the universe and the highest characteristic of a human being was his will to survive in a ruthless existence.
When questioned on the existence of aliens, subject remarked on the futility of man in his exploration of the stars when he has not even conquered the depths of his own mind. In his own words, “if they’re out there, why shouldn’t they be down here?”
Subject is more than able to comprehend non-Euclidean geometry and was able to attain a class of AA-3 in the written examination.
Subject appeared to have a minimal reaction to the graphic and harrowing mental stimuli, and offered theories onto the possible origin of the pictures to potential real-world happenings. Subject was soundly rebuffed, though he may hold his own doubts.
As a clinically diagnosed psychopath, subject does not appear to have any irrational fears or phobias. However, through induced hypnosis, subject expressed a slight discomfort with being totally abandoned, physically or socially. Though he dislikes close relationships with people, he finds using them to his own advantage the optimal method to ensure his own safety.
History:
Shamus Thenn was born to unknown parents in Melbourne, Australia in June 1913, and abandoned at Christy Warner Memorial Orphanage a few days after his birth. When he was eight years old, he was adopted by Gordon E. Doncliss, a local fishery owner, who changed his new son’s surname to his own. Although Doncliss soon grew to become a modestly respected upper-middle-class Melbourne businessman who ensured that his six children attended private schools, Shay was a bit of an oddity. All throughout his adolescence, Shay was expelled from several schools, frequently got into physical fights with his peers, engaged in minor criminal offenses like pickpocketing and vandalism, and was remarked on by a private tutor ‘to be destined to have no respectable station in life’. Gordon seriously threatened to have his son sent back to the orphanage several times, and on one occasion it almost worked, if not for Gordon’s quick thinking of an alternative - the military. Gordon Doncliss was an officer aboard a dreadnought in Gallipoli and decided that the regimen of military life would beat some sense into his prodigal son. As a gift on his eighteenth birthday in the summer of 1931, Shay Doncliss was enlisted into the Australian Navy.
Shay did particularly well in basic training and showed affinity for mechanical maintenance and repair of equipment aboard ship, gained from a childhood spent on the docks of Melbourne and occasionally accompanying his father into routine business inspections. Shay also had severe discipline problems and was kicked out for assaulting a drill instructor, but not before being advised to pursue a career in a different branch - the air force. Shay joined the Royal Australian Air Force in the winter of 1932 and quickly gained a reputation as a skilled, yet ruthless and vicious fighter pilot. Shay was transferred to the UK in preparation for Project Turin in 1939.
