@Famotill What can you tell me about the war between the Humans and dwarf alliance against the Brithian Empire? Just some information I need to know to see where I can take her background on how she became a Jester/bard.

Was it a decisive victory? A bloody battle? Did a lot of places get destroyed? How long was the rebuild process? Did anyone get shafted in the end? And finally how long ago was the war?

Glad you asked! I was working on getting this into the Atlas, but it'd be something every character knows. This is going to be a bit of an info dump guys! Sorry about that but I'll split it up into sections so it's easier to digest. The current year is 138 in the Age of Owls. The Age of Owls began after "The War of Splitting Branches" a world war that completely uprooted how Ithea was divided up politically and magically. So it's been around 138 years since the war. In this world there aren't any super long life spans. Wood-Elves have the longest typically living to around 100.

This has been an overwhelming amount of info so far. I'm sorry about that! I'll sum up some of the major events in the war though so this doesn't go on forever.

Also, I added a bit of lore regarding Viguard in the Atlas under "Locations". I'm going to work on getting a post up about religion soon! I can also PM you some stuff that your character might know or might be interested in (art, the forge, drinks, history, inventors, politics, war heroes, etc.) So feel free to let me know if you'd be interested in that stuff!

Your character sheet along with Tangeltail's is coming along very nicely! I'll reserve my review until it's finished though unless you'd prefer otherwise.

On a side note... Flintlock pistols and Matchlock rifles are a lot more accurate than people probably thought. They aren't as accurate as the Crossbow or a regular bow from a trained archer. But they were still pretty scary to have one pointed at you.

Both of their accuracy ends at 50-60 yards, which is just on the cusp where it is hard for the human eye to aim effectively without anymore aide than iron sights.

The rifle however... you're not hitting anything at modern rifle ranges most of the time. So you're better off fighting a little closer with the weapon.

And the dragoon flintlock pistol is comparatively as accurate as a modern pistol for the ranges it is meant to be fired.

Wow thanks for the info! I figured that the weapon would still be fairly accurate in this world, but I'd imagine the schematics for such weapons haven't been perfected.

I hadn't heard of the dragoon flintlock! I'll check that out. Thank you for the info! I'm definitely not a gun expert lol

Not a problem! Flintlocks Pistols were often used in mounted combat. The most memorable Calvary that used flintlock pistols on horse back is the Winged Hussars during The Battle of Vienna. It was easily manageable, and there were actually methods employed to make loading them easier and faster. Those methods eventually lead to how bullets are designed today. They were basically paper cartridges. You'd bite the end off to pour some powder into the primer pan. Close the pan, and stuff the entire paper cartridge down the barrel.

In a fantasy setting for a gunner, there's quite a few things that can be done to make it faster to load. Depends on how creative you get.

And the word "Dragoon" just means calvary. So the Germanic Dragoon Flintlock is just a Calvary pistol.

@Famotill How did you plan on Bards working in your world?

Or are they very similar to how they function in DnD?

Also, growing closer to completeing Raux.

@Tangletail
It is very similar to DnD, but in this world there are both Minstrels and Bards. Bards weave epic yarns, poems, and songs through a ritual similar to that of enchanting runes (eg. through the use of magic) whereas minstrels are regular traveling musicians. Bards use incantations to lace certain words or phrases with magic (typically through an enchanted quill). This process takes a good amount of concentration and is typically done on down time (though bards of legend have been known to weave new songs in the field of combat). They can also enchant their instruments, and can try to subtly manipulate those around them.

Mmm... so far with her personality, I'm getting vibes of her being a daredevil styled bard enchanter. Being in your face, constantly pissing you off and making you fumble and constantly miss. That, while she's powering the mage's fireball up into a nuclear fire storm... or effectively making the rogue's rifle fire freight trains at people.

What is the starting limit on spell counts anyways?

The limit is the set amount in the character sheet with the expectation that if your character is a novice they'd either know less spells or not have mastered any of them yet. I didn't want to limit spells because if someone is RPing an older character or more experienced mage it wouldn't have made sense.

Though there will be the opportunity to learn more as players advance through the story! As well, there will be opportunities to switch some spells and weaponry out.

Thanks :B, I've had plenty of experience! And boy can I tell you they get reeaal stupid fast in DnD. To the point where they can help a team break reality. I figured I'd also give the DM a little way to have some fun as well with her mental health problems affecting her magics.

K, I'm done. Ended up figuring out some neat crafting stuff to add too. Feel free to look it over, I took a few more liberties with the ending of his History in terms of lore, but feel free to let me know if you think I'm going too much off the deep end.
