Okay. The math thing that everyone was talking about made me think that I would need to provide a cost/income analysis for my group.

Oh man im WAY into this. Its only what ive been thinking about for the past 4 years.

Would you be ok with my picking a fairly large clan of people for the story? Atleast 3 families, and may infact keep growing. They will all be connected together through a common clan in the Scottish sense. The budgeting will be real world, except there will be a fairly large cash injection initially as the family has a few wealthy backers. However as society deteriorates there will be no banks to draw money out of and no dividends from shares so we'll be on our own.

I hope the disaster is something a bit different from zombies, of all the disasters that one is the least likely. Not that it woulnt be fun.

I used to be a prepper, and i love colony games. Lets get this on like diddy-kong.

Aaaaand we’re back folks!

@Banzai Tracers That sounds gretty fun! Keep the point of view characters down though please, it might get overwhelming otherwise. I will say that Zombies are just about the only disaster that I haven’t considered for this RP, so we’re clear there.

Super excited to get this kicked off.

... Would a player be able to join and not form a group and play as another primary point of view in the same group as another player?

I think it could work in some larger group - like you would have two sort of subgroups (ie competing for leadership or something like that), or you could have a lone road warrior/smaller group temporarly joining with a large group, but still remaining independent to some extent. However, it would require a lot of communication between the two players.

I don't have anything specific in mind, but I have some friends I used to play with that might be able to meet the requirements for this RPG. I was thinking that they might not want to do as much planning and research, but they would be happy to tag-along as a POV player for my group, or, as Raylah said, a loner that gets lucky enough to meet up with a group, or a survivor that somehow gets rescued somewhere along the way.

So I totally watched Cloverfield Paradox last night on Netflix. Not a very good movie, honestly, but I had to finish it just to see how things worked out.

@irredeemable, if you went THAT route for a worldwide calamity... I mean, damn.

Finally here once more. I'm having an idea of a group of cultists who have taken over an old church (or was formed from the church) and is now fortifying it into a fortress monastery or something. Although this idea might require a bunch of "nameless" NPCs who don't get the lime lihgt.

My other idea is a group of road warriors/nomads who act as traders and caravaners, smelling profit in the end of the world.

@ClocktowerEchos I’ll be honest, I like the cult idea. You don’t have to have everyone be under the spotlight.

As for start date, I want to kick this off before the end of the week.

@ClocktowerEchos I'm only commenting because you said C&C welcomed. The only comment I have is that all of the firearms you've listed are chambered in a caliber with a lot of recoil (though the .357 in a lever-action wouldn't be terrible). As long as most of your cult members are larger people, this works out just fine, but if you have smaller individuals or people that aren't as familiar or well-trained (they could all be trained in each of these weapons proficiently for all I know), something with less recoil would be more effective than something with a lot of power.

If you do decide to include smaller calibers, I recommend keeping with the Remington Model 700, but selecting several chambered in .223 in addition to the .308 models. The .223 is more than capable of reaching out to distances up to 600 meters in the hands of a capable shooter, and while it has less power than the .308, well-placed shots on a human target will put them down easily.

For revolvers, I would suggest finding something in a 9mm selection. Ruger makes a small one called the LCR that can be kept in a pocket for self-defense purposes. It's hammerless, which means it won't snag on any clothing if you have to draw it in a hurry, but that also means it has a double-action only trigger, which means each pull of the trigger requires a longer, more difficult squeeze of the trigger. Taurus also makes one called the Taurus 905 that operates more similarly to your usual double/single action revolver. That you can fire in double-action, but you can also pull the hammer back for a crisp single-action pull as well, if you are able to take the time between shots to do so.

And for lever-action rifles, you could pick up something in a .22 WMR (Henry has these too), which packs more than enough power to take down small game at medium range as well as put down a human with the appropriate shot placement within 100 meters. But as I said before, the .357 in a carbine wouldn't really be all that bad for recoil.

Ignore all of these suggestions, though, if you don't plan on any of your cult members not being comfortable withstanding the recoil of more powerful arms.

@Irredeemable Oo do tell

@Andrew Blade Honestly I just looked up what the most common/popular ammunition and firearms where. The Church is in it for the long haul since they believe eventually ammo will run out and producing it will become extremely difficult as the chemicals needed will no longer be produced and thus are trying to shift towards a medieval style of armory with some muzzle loaders they can make themselves.
