Brotherhood of Steel (East Coast)

History:

When the Brotherhood of Steel had come to the Commonwealth, they had come in great spirit and eagerness. To namely protect the world from the dangerous of ignorance and the threat of technology gone amok. The Institute was one such faction, taking the notion of technological progress and accelerating it beyond reason.

Engaging in acts and research that lead to the end of Old World and the start of the Great War. Thus the only choice of the Brotherhood was war - against the Institute, the supermutants and ghouls of the Commonwealth. Sadly, as the Brotherhood-Institute War dragged on - more and more brothers and sisters become disillusioned or more radical in their cause.

Thus, when the end of the Institute was at hand - so too, was the crippling of the Brotherhood from within. As Paladin Danse turned on his own people and lead to the crashing of the Prydwen into the sea. Those whom had remained on board, only a handful of them escaped. Namely Proctor Teagan, the quartermaster and Lance-Captain Kells. With many of its finest equipment and people at the bottom of the Boston sea - the Brotherhood sadly had to call a retreat.

A handful chose to remain, whether out of duty or a desire for vengeance against the Commonwealth for so many dead. One of whom is Proctor Teagan, whom leads the Brotherhood remnants in the Commonwealth - blaming the death of Ingram, a dear friend and love, at the Commonwealth scum. While Captain Kells has remained, to die upon the land that took the Prydwen - flying the last operational vertibirds in the region. They maintain control over the Boston Airport and the rare settlement close to them.

History: Goodneighbor has always been the chaotic town - even more so before John Hancock became its mayor. After a certain incident in Diamond City that resulted in the banishment of ghouls, many have attempted to relocate to Goodneighbor - John McDonough included - with little success. Vic's reign on Goodneighbor ended when John McDonough - then changed his name to John Hancock - decided to build a militia to overthrow him. Thus, John Hancock became the self-appointed mayor of Goodneighbor.

Largely unaffected by the events of the Brotherhood - Institute war, Goodneighbor stood strong despite the hammering wars between the different factions. John Hancock made sure to keep the city safe, and those who have found themselves drifting into the dangerous city felt welcome despite the various criminals and ghouls that were scattered about. It was named one of the safer cities as anyone could protect themselves at any point in time, and their mayor was no pushover either.

The 'Kill-All' command issued by the Institute did, in fact, spark chaos within the 'safe' walls of Goodneighbor as travelling synths went wild and attempted to bring everything down with them. There were only three of them - all of which were quickly killed by the mayor and his league of guards, along with various mercenaries dotting the city leading to minimal deaths and a few injuries. It has been seen that John Hancock had left Goodneighbor for a short while after the incident to presumably visit Diamond City, through shared relations with both Nick Valentine and Piper Wright (though the latter was less enthusiastic in letting him in) so he could visit his now dead synth brother. He also often expresses curiosity as to when his brother had been replaced with a synth.

The Whistler, a Railroad member, information broker and hired gun, has made his way to Goodneighbor shortly before the Brotherhood had arrived to be a guard to Doctor Amari and to assist the Synths being sent her way. He has lost contact with the Railroad after the incident and insists on continuing his guard with Doctor Amari in fear that she may be a target considering what she does.

History:
Growing up in a settlement constantly under attack by raiders and supermutants, young Isabel Cruz discovered her skill at robotics and computing in a world filled with violence. After everyone she knew were murdered at the hands of The Forces Of Darkness, Isabel stumbled upon a pre-War factory originally run in a juncture of private industry and the military, formerly known as Robotics Technology Facility RB-2851.

From there she began her grand plan, inspired by drawings of the comic books and radio show character, the Mechanist. Using the resources avaialble to her in her new lair, Isabel built an army of robots to do her bidding, and sent them out into the Wasteland to save the people of the Commonwealth, pacifying areas by killing raiders and other hostiles.

Isolated in her bunked, the Mechanist has avoided most of the upheavals in the Commonwealth over the past few years, relying solely on the data from her bots for news on the state of the surface. She has happily noted a decrease in engagements recently, and presumes this is due to the success of her crimefighting efforts, and is beginning to prepare herself for a return to the now pacified world.

History: The Nahant Enclave donned the addition to it's real title upon arriving and settling at the Nahant Oceanological society, far to the North East of the commonwealth, it's location was deemed of great strategic value due to the single bridge that connected the area to the mainland, although the Rebel fortress Libertalia located south of the settlement was regarded as a threat, the group repelled several raiding parties and eventually the two settlements decided to have a mutual agreement to not attack one another and stay out of each others way - trade was also established but kept to be infrequent as possible to prevent any further disputes.

The group of Enclave survivors has a long and bloody history, and their numbers have thinned considerably since their exodus from the Capital wasteland a few decades ago, whilst the Nahant Enclave still maintains many of Edens beliefs, the group is aware of many mistakes made by the President, which ultimately led to his demise, and indeed the fall of the Enclave.
The groups main purpose is to reestablish themselves and become a force to be reckoned with once more, the day that occurs will they then start pursuing a slightly modified Eden Doctrine upon the surrounding settlements and area.

Needless to say, ever since their arrival to the Commonwealth things have gone downhill considerably fast, the group decided to isolate themselves after the Brotherhood showed up, growing slowly and remaining heavily on the defensive - they did not wish to attract the ire of their old foes, learning that the Enclave still existed would have made them a prime target against an enemy they simply had no means to fight - as of yet.
This allowed them to remain fairly intact and indeed the isolated nature of their location meant that the cataclysmic events of the war that followed was barely even noticed by the settlement, their leader and the settlers themselves had no wish to get caught in the war and kept to themselves, growing and fortifying their location.

At the time of the "Kill switch" order, the existence of Synths had become very apparent, and just how well they had infiltrated society, whilst the Enclave had known and heard about the existence of synths prior to this event, they had long decided that based on what they had heard that a synth was little different from a human, although reports about the earlier generation synths and their destructive capabilities - due to their remote location though, they never actually witnessed the earlier generations synths.
At the time of the kill switch a number of different things happened, the raider fortress Libertalia underwent an upheaval and power struggle due to their leader being ousted as a synth, after a great deal of fighting and bloodshed a new leader rose to power, a hard line against all synths due to the recent uprising, as well as that the raiders began asserting their control again, which put pressure on the Nahant Enclave, an all out conflict seems to be on the horizon between the two groups.
Thankfully, the Enclave was spared from the majority of damage from synth infiltration, being a knew settlement didn't omit them from the kill switch order but the fact that the power hierarchy was all limited to wastelanders foreign to the Commonwealth meant that not a single synth was in any upper of even semi-important position, when the attack came, they were put down with ease, although a few innocents were killed during the attack.
Since then, outsiders have had a much harder time finding a home or place in Nahant, undergoing a rigorous screening process, a very watchful eye for weeks and an incredibly difficult climb through the ranks.
The Enclave makes trips out into the North to recruit people to their group from outside the Commonwelath, in order to prevent or at least lower the chance of further infiltration.
Once again, despite this, synths are allowed to live here - declaration that they are a synth before entry helps instil trust as they know that an eye will always be kept on them, an they will never be able to acquire a leadership role, but nevertheless a home can be found here for them.
By the time the major events passed the aftermath was taking it's toll on the rest of the Commonwealth the settlement had grown quite large in size, their group accepting synth and human alike, although refusing entry to any ghoul.
By this time their control had extended to the Nahant Sheriffs department, and the entry to the rest of the settlement had become heavily fortified and well manned - the constant supply of meat from the ever common Mirelurk that dotted their shores meant that they were a well fed and fast growing settlement that had begun to attract attention from the rest of the commonwealth - people knew of its existence now, but very very few people knew of it's past.

The settlement is armed with the Enclaves signature weapons, the Plasma Rifle and Pistol, however they are rarely ever used and only ever in an emergency due to the scarcity and expense of the ammunition required to use them, the defence force that operates similar to the old Enclave Army, a well structured and organised pseudo-military with ranks receives training every week; a minimum of 6 hours, with specially modified single barrelled shotguns that fire bags of sand in a similar trajectory and speed of the Plasma projectile, allowing the defence force to be somewhat trained and accurate with the weaponry once they need to be used, making them a deadly and efficient force with these weapons, despite their rare use.

Diamond City

History: Since the 2130’s, Diamond City has been a pillar of the Commonwealth. It’s trade has increased the prosperity of the Commonwealth, it’s security force has made the Commonwealth safer, it’s commitment to education has created good citizens for the Commonwealth, and certain individuals have come from Diamond City to do the Commonwealth a lot of good.

That pillar has been shaken. The Broken Mask Incident and years of kidnappings left the city fearful and willing to elect the xenophobic Mayor McDonough, who was secretly an Institute agent sent to keep the citizens of Diamond City complacent in the face of Institute operations in their city. Subsequently, the mayor exiled the Ghoul population of the city and stamped out efforts to investigate any disappearances in the city.

The Brotherhood- Institute War hit Diamond City hard. While mostly safe behind the Wall, Diamond City citizens have died and trade has dried up in the chaos. Before anyone could celebrate the ultimate defeat of the Institute, the synth kill order was given by the fleeing Institute. In what is now known as the Second Broken Mask Incident, McDonough went berserk and murdered Geneva and his guards before he could be put down.

The city was thrown into chaos and mourning with the death of the two people governing the city. The Guard and several influential residents have assumed control until another Governor is chosen. Piper Wright’s efforts to unveil the truth of McDonough, community leadership during the chaos, and general commitment to Diamond City earned her sudden popularity amongst the Lower Stands of Diamond City. She has reluctantly thrown her hat in the race for Mayor. Meanwhile, the former Institute agent and owner of the Colonial Taphouse Henry Cooke (WIP) is challenging her on an Upper Stands platform. So far, the election is all but in name a victory for Piper.

History: Eric Jones, better known as Captain Jones, was a leading and respected Member of the Minutemen, who turned disillusioned over ineffective leadership of General Becker, before leaving the Minutemen with his closest Supporters, to become a Mercenary.
During a job to loot a caravan for a rival Trading Faction, he stumbled over an old book, "The Red Guidebook of Wisdom: To Our American Allies". And while most of his men turned to drinking, Jones would read the old pages, finding old ideas and tactics inside them. It was around this time, that Quincy finally broke the Minutemen, which was the Proof Jones needed to see how ineffective the noble approch of his old brothers-in-arms was, and how much it needed for a stronger hand, a leader who would fight for the greater good, not fearing the costs!

The need for a Great Chairman!

During the Days of Chaos, the Mercenaries of the Captain would hire their service to the Vault 81, a juicy target for anyone around. Yet for Captain Jones, it was worth sacrificing his men in endless battles against those who wanted to raid the Vault, as he finally had access to old World knowlage, great minds to debate with, and finally, the unexpected secrets the hidden compartment of the Vault held, in form of not only vast records, but also a sentient mind, in form of the Robot Curie.

It was around this time, that Captain Jones, lead an Coup inside the Vault, declaring himself "The great Chairman", and enforcing his new Ideology of "Commonwealth-Communism". Said Coup, sadly, did not came without sacrifices, and Vault 81 is just a shadow of its former self, its population halved, and most of its machinery destroyed. In the Chairmans eyes, acceptable losses, for an base to send out his radio signals from, in the form of the "Peoples Liberation Radio" moderated by the rather charismatic Comrade Curie.

History:


History: During the attack on CIT by The Brotherhood of Steel, scientists, personnel, and Synths inside The Institute began a coordinated evacuation protocol. In order to buy time for the escape, a number of Synths were left behind to stall The Brotherhood’s forces, but many other first, second, and third generation synths retreated alongside their human masters.

With their hidden underground paradise breached and destroyed, members of The Institute had only one choice: retreat to the hated surface. Their first objective was to rally their surviving forces and take an inventory of their supplies and resources: their second objective was to get as far away from The Brotherhood of Steel as possible.

With Father gone, leadership fell to the remaining leaders of The DIrectorate who took charge of the remnants and set out to relocate The Institute’s denizens to a safer region. It seemed logical to attempt to locate and seize a working Vault which, barring official government bunkers, was likely the closest thing to their home that they would be able to find. To that end, Synth scouts were sent to Vaults in the northeast United States whose locations had been known on CIT databanks. Of the units that successfully returned, the most promising location appeared to be a Vault in what used to be Bar Harbor, Maine. The Synth that scouted this Vault had apparently been invited inside after he was mistaken by the residents as being a pre-war detective. The Synth reported back that the Vault was in excellent condition and that it appeared to be inhabited almost entirely by robots.

Wasting no time, The Directorate ordered The Institute personnel to the island. To accomplish this, they began searching for a means to travel there by sea safety. This led them to the town of Nahant, where they stumbled upon another group which was in exile due to The Brotherhood: The Enclave. A tense meeting between leaders of The Institute and The Nahant Enclave followed shortly afterwards, and after some initial hesitation, an agreement was struck. In exchange for their assistance in equipping and outfitting a vessel capable of sea travel, information about the surface, and a promise to be able to use Nahant as a 'port in the storm' in The Commonwealth, The Institute provided The Enclave with samples of some of their highly advanced technology. After the deal was made, The Institute set out for their new home.

They landed in Bar Harbor, Maine (now known as ‘Far Harbor’) after a few days of sea travel. Stealth Courser units were deployed onto the island, and with Gen-2 and Gen-1 Synth units in support, they launched an attack on Vault 118. The robots of the Vault were easily overwhelmed and seized, and it proved trivial for Robotics Division scientists to reprogram the robobrain residents and their Mr. Handy and Protectron attendants to serve The Institute’s interests.

Since taking control of the Vault and meeting the immediate needs of food, water, and power. The Institute has been keeping their heads down and observing the island as well as their old home in The Commonwealth. Working under the guise of newly emerged (and quite secretive) Vault Dwellers, they established limited contact with the residents of Far Harbor, trading some goods between them. When they send agents out beyond their new Vault home, a strict protocol of secrecy is maintained. Using Institute weaponry, armor, or equipment beyond the Vault is strictly forbidden and great care is taken to ensure that nothing could be traced back to them.

Church's Partisan Regiment



History: The story of the few now known as 'Church's Regiment' began in 2282. One Captain John Thomas Church had been commander of a company of light foot in the Commonwealth Minutemen for seven years. Falling under the command of Colonel Hollis and his regiment, Church had been sent on incessant 'relief missions' to settlements, often resulting in little more than poking at shadows in the dark. Fed up by a seemingly feckless commanding officer in Colonel Hollis, a federalist colleague by the name of Captain Jones, and the ignorant General Joseph Becker, Church confided his grievances in his own staff. Before the proper case could be made before the General, Becker was killed in a raid on the headquarters camp.

Now left with a Colonel whom he despised for their moderate views and recklessness, Church instead made an ultimatum. Either Colonel Hollis would pass command to another officer, or Church's company, and any other sympathetic souls, would mutiny. Hollis, not one to be pushed over, refused, and in the winter of 2284, Church, along with 126 minutemen, left Hollis's camp. They would soon relocate further east, to the coast, coming to inhabit the area around Kingsport Lighthouse, naming the new permanent encampment Fort Heath, in reference to a fort part of the Boston Harbor Defenses, which had existed mere miles from the lighthouse, but had been utterly flattened and turned indefensible during the Great War.

Church built a true fortress at the site. Layered wooden palisades bound by steel trusses, weather-proof huts dug into the ground, a seawater desalination system, and an observation post built in the barren lighthouse were all features of the Fort. Small amounts of settlers were brought into the Fort during this time, and most merchants were allowed to market their wares to the citizens and soldiers within. For three years, Fort Heath prospered.

In 2287, the aptly named 'Days of Chaos' began. Weeks, even months of chaotic shifts in power followed. The Quincy Massacre all but wiped out the Minutemen, with even those who managed to escape with their lives being slaughtered in the streets of Concord. Gunners and raiders doubled down their raids. The Fort was put under increasing pressure. Breaches in the first layer of palisades became more and more common, and the Fort lived day to day between sieges, rationing all consumables, and seldom being able to send out scavenging parties.

Though Church's Regiment and the residents of Fort Heath remained relatively neutral on the larger scale, they were bled slowly by the constant attacks. Even these disorganized assailants proved a handful. In early 2287, the Kingsport Lighthouse was reduced to rubble by repeated structural damage. Now, Fort Heath lay battered, but not yet broken, the weakened soldiers and citizens within not yet dead, and their spirit not yet extinguished.
