I'm making an Elfein laborer/beastmaster that uses a greatbow, but I have some questions. The first would be if there's any specifics on the background of Elfeins, and if there are any backstories to choose from that aren't custom made?

Some default backstories will be made but they are low on my to do list. I figure most of you will choose to make custom ones on the forums and it's more important to get maps, creatures, weapons, skills, etc done.

I don't have a lot of details on any of the races, they were a last minute idea to give people the option to have a non-human character, then I came up with some race traits to make it more than a cosmetic. If you guys want to come up with lore I'm totally up for it.

On the note of Elfein's though I picture them more like the Greek concept of elves that mixes with pixies and such where they are spirits of nature, made of plants and such, not elves like LotR kind of elves.

Name: Autumn

Age:

Appearance:

Race: Elfein

Height: 6'0"

Build: Skinny

Skin: Wood

Eyes: Green

Hair: Wood

Backstory: There was once a tree that grew from a skylight within a cave. It was a lonesome thing, growing as the only living thing aside from insects crawling around. If it was simply left alone, it would have eventually withered away. Of course, as many stories go, something happened. A person wandered into the cave and found the tree. A smithy that was looking for proper materials to hone their craft. The moment they found the tree, they had decided to visit often. It eventually became that person's favorite spot. Under its branches, they would design new things, read notes on their findings of the materials within the cave, and occasionally play an instrument or take a nap. For the first time ever, the tree was not alone. It began to feel comfort in the visitor's company.

Eventually, however, the visitor disappeared. They had simply stopped. The tree felt loneliness because of this. It was familiar, but new. Before, it knew nothing but loneliness, but now it could feel it for what it truly was. It hated the feeling. It longed for the visitor's company again. So much so that its will was heard by the forces beyond, and allowed a new form. The tree was no more, but in its place was a woman made of magic and wood. Wasting no time, she left the cave in search for the visitor...She found their corpse in a small shack. In that moment, she learned of despair.

In her sadness, she buried the visitor in her former spot, hoping that they would one day return as one of her own. She would dream of the day that would happen. The day where she would visit them, read to them, play to them, sleep on their branches. But that would take time. She would need to do something in her wait...

Primary Role: Laborer

Secondary Role: Beastmaster

Starting Weapon: Greatbow

Awesome, I like the direction you went with the Elfein. Also finally after ten characters (from my three parties so far) someone didn't go Combatant as their secondary role. I'm very interested to see how that plays out. Depending on if any of you decide to build your own province I can see you being a very valuable asset to said province.

Adding Autumn to the party list :)

Edit #1: Added @Jerkchicken's character to the list. Forgot to do that after the corrections, my b.

Also if any of you are somewhat talented artist (I'm certainly not) I would appreciate some icons to use in the maps I'm making for you guys. Mainly for resources, so like a tree icon could be a few different colors to represent the different Tiers of Tree/Wood. I tried drawing some myself and they were awful XD

I'll be adding the other two parties to the forum next Saturday. We were playing the game old-fashioned pen and paper way and I didn't collect their character sheets before splitting up.

Edit #1: Added some resources to the op.

...Wait, did anyone else try to become a gatherer or something? If not, then this might get a little difficult

I don't think I can make a building out of random bits and bobbles alone.

Everyone can earn experience in every role, just your primary and secondary is what you level up fastest. But you're right if you become an excellent carpenter you will depend upon either players or NPCs becoming excellent Lumberjacks.

Spoken like a true warrior!

In other news, added some more information to Kingdom Building in regards to clearing regions and turning them into districts.

Are resource gatherers/crafters like omni-disciplinary for game play purposes or do you need to specialize in x thing?

@Jerkchicken The right resources give characters like mine the ability to build better things like Siege engines and towns.

Early on when we're first getting started being more general in your skills might be best, like when a settlement is first established they don't really need rare resources they just need a bit of everything, but when you're dealing with the more late game kingdoms they might need someone who is a Tier V Blacksmith rather than a Tier III Carpenter/Blacksmith mix.

Edit #1: More resources added to the list and Meatloaf under cooking skills was changed to Lamb Chops to make sense with the farming animal being sheep.

How many resource types are gonna be ? Because I wonder if given the low amount of people if everything could be feasibly touched upon to progress to a high enough level

You can still have skills in the thing, you just won't be able to get much experience from the action, from my understanding

That's right :D

I can't say exactly. It'll likely grow as the game goes on and I'll probably introduce NPCs, or ways to find NPcs, to make up for where players are lacking.

True, but I'm being conservative in how feasible it would be for someone unskilled to get around to covering a missing resource in the crafting areas, since we don't know a lot about the XP mechanics.

Like I assume there's a base number that scales in proportion to your tier and the type of activity which is then fed to the multiplier that's based if it's a primary or secondary role.

Everything would provide a set amount of exp. Like a Tier I creature and Tier I ore might both provide a similar amount of exp, so both help you with leveling up stat wise, but when it comes to Role exp you need to decide what activity you want to do be it combat, gathering, or what have you.

Currently everything has 100 xp requirement to lvl up and that doubles everytime you level. So 100>200>400>etc
