how are demons created? are they fallen angels, born from malicious intent, etc?

also, how often are worlds created/destroyed in Elysia? There's seems to be a lot of skirmishes but do worlds ever end or do the gods step in before that can happen?

A tab is coming to explain what demons are. Short answer is, they aren't.
Angel's are just a more powerful type of spirit so theres no correlation between the two. Demons are seen as enemies by gods and mortals alike and come from outside Elysia. They squeeze through the bars get themselves trapped, and wreck havoc. Demons are hated and feared by everyone because of the untold death and destruction they bring at any time. Religions do alot of fear mongering as well. The demons did chase the gods into Elysia after all.

Worlds are created and destroyed by gods, natural disasters, demon monsters, magical mishaps, apocalyptic weapons and so forth. Sometimes they are just discovered in uncharted portions of Elysis.

A god who had a domain on that planet will try to stop it if they are even aware of it. Gods are not by nature active beings, mortals are supposed to do all the work. They will offer blessings or even direct help but sometimes even they cannot stop it.

The most powerful of gods couldn't care less about the worlds or their inhabitants. They will on occasion eat the worlds of a rival god partly to remove their worshippers, partly as a practical joke.

Interesting, but what happens to those who have zero faith or trust in the divine?

They generally go about their lives without getting any benefits from the divine and on occasion they experience something akin to bad luck as they anger a god for their lack of piety.

Nothing is stopping people from being non believers, they just dont get any benefits. It's only when they openly challenge the spirits purview that it 'might' be actively defended.

Probably poorly, if they know what the character actually does. They might get lingering indicators but the gods dont know everything. Nothing is stopping someone from learning dark magic, except for the taboos against such practices which is more of a cultural stigma.

Demons use necromancy, and demons are always feared by everyone. for attempting to copy their magic, they are feared and are hunted because it is viewed as evil. There are inquisitions in nearly all stellar empires to root out such corrupting and unnatural magic, imprisoning ot killing the individual. Use caution when practicing the unholy.

Its risky but theres you can, just keep it hush. And remember, all people and aliens are different. Their culture may hate an atheist or an unholy practitioner but a person might be indifferent or even interested. The trend though, its seen as something different, and different is generally bad.

Again, this is a job for mortals. Some gods and spirits of justice, purging, light, holiness will hunt with these crusaders but mostly their contributions are blessings and holy relics.

Nothing stops you from being an atheist. Some cultures care alot to the point of hostility to fix the person, others do not. You dont get any benefits and sometimes you get bad luck.

If they made a nation, ironically the gods would probably ignore it. Who wants a place where everyone doesn't do what they are supposed to? The ingrates. Flip side, religions and witch burners would target the nonbelievers if they were not strong enough to defend themselves as a type of holy war whenever it became lucrative to do so. Without a divine patron the crusaders view these pious acts of forceful conversion or genocide as more or less consequence free.

I'm now tempted to make an Eldritch creature as a hero. Just going around the universe with these people like "yeah, I'm an ancient abomination that is extremely powerful and could kill you all. But I got bored and decided to help you all out with whatever the hell youre doing. Afterwards I'm going to sleep for the next few millennia"

Be a cuthulu monster if you want but you gotta be comparable to the other players. For one be able to physical fit inside an airship as much as a giant tentacle monster cramped into the ships hold would be hilarious. Another is that things are never supposed to be easy. Theres gotta be some dangers, even to eldritch horrors.

Does make for a good plot point though.

If not, she can try and run - she is good at that after having wandered for all of her life.

Also, I am a fan of having a big tentacle monster participating in the adventures, for plot points obviously.

I'm hoping every character regardless of whether they should or not, has a bit of humor to them.

Even no fun sticks in the mud can become the butt of people's jokes.
