@LetMeDoStuff ehh, I dunno. There's lots of bits and bobs sticking off the operators in Rainbow 6 Siege but really the only place that's protected is the chest, anyway. If you actually look at them the arms is just clothing, so are the legs. Nobody wants kevlar gumming up their limbs. I saw Valkyrie and new I wanted to do something similar if a bit more minimalistic.
Even Tachanka, the beefiest MF in the game's source of additional protection over someone like Ash is the helmet. Everyone is just wearing a bulletproof vest and military fatigues
Whilst that is true, remember that this isn't the game. This is a more realistic viewpoint on the whole experience.
Realistic? Maybe darker, but I was getting the impression it's still very much an exaggerated version of reality like Rainbow Six.
Like even in real life the stuff SWAT members put on their arms wouldn't stop a bullet. Maybe cushion against baseball bat. there's just not enough arm there to cover it without having a heavy ass arm and effecting shooting, because shooting first is a much more reliable way of not getting shot than having some material in the way

Well whilst it is a darker version, yes, there is still that need to make do with equipment. A lot of Operators have died because of their lack of protection, and whilst it doesn't stop a bullet it dampens the damage.
Birth-date / Location July 11th, 1986 / Daegwallyeong, Gangwon do
Special Forces Group R.O.K Special Forces- 9th Special Forces Brigade
Appearance On duty uniform: JAW wears most of the standard gear he used in the 9th Brigade. Bulletproof helmet, goggles, facial mask, military fatigue outfit, tactical vest, all with woodland MARPAT-like camouflage pattern, also with knee pads, elbow pads, combat boots, and protective gloves.
Off duty: Lee prefers to wear an olive T-shirt and the fatigue pants and combat boots he wears on duty, in case he is called as an emergency. He does change into other outfit when he has to wander out of the quarters without showing that he's a soldier.
General appearance: Lee is a 182.3 cm tall man, 84.2 kg heavy, man with a rather muscular physique. He keeps his hairstyle as the classic buzz cut. Lee has a rather round face with a friendly look on his eyes, almost looking like he's smiling all the time. His face is rather clean-no noticeable injuries are visible. He also has no tattoos on his body- just a plain human body, with small scratches here and there on his legs and arms.
Psych Profile Lee is a rather expressive man at casual times. He hardly hides his emotions and tries to communicate a lot with his teammates, though he is never the social butterfly type. He tries to keep a neutral point of view for most of his personal matters-abd some official ones too- and tries not to say things carelessly about them. Once Lee starts to concentrate, be it a mission or a test, he hardly opens his mouth unless it is necessary to, only focusing on the given objective. Lee also seems to 'calm down' at the smell of gunpowder. In an interview with a Rainbow personnel he stated that he found out the smell strangely fascinates him. He also seemed to be concentrating more in combat related trainings compared to others.
Relationships -Grace "Dokkaebi" Nam: The two knew each other, as Grace was in the 9th Special Forces Brigade before moving into SMB and then the Rainbow Team, though they weren't so close.
Stance in Combat Attacker > Defender. JAW's K11 is most suitable for offensive operations.
Operator Ability K11-R DAW DAW developed by S&T Motiv, with a little bit of magical touch by the Rainbow team's tech department. Comes with a full auto assault rifle moudle and a bolt action grenade launcher module. The grenade launcher can use two types of ammunition: -HEAB rounds, with its detonation timing programmable by the tech pieces on the scope. It concentrates on annihilating targets within range, and is able to destroy soft obstacles(unreinforced walls, trapdoors, barricades, etc.) when detonated close enough. -Breacher rounds, detonation on impact only. Weaker for killing but better at breaching.
An OICW-inspired weapon researched by S&T Motiv. It is a combination of a 5.56mm assault rifle and a 20mm grenade launcher with a laser range finder and a ballistics computer. --- Rainbow team's tech department helped modify K11 and its rounds to be more suitable for their operations when JAW's recruitment was confirmed. K11-R(R for Rainbow) was thus born, with two different types of rounds for the grenade launcher.
Biography Lee was born in the mountains but was sent to the Seoul region to stay at his aunt's once he reached 4, as his parents wished him to be a doctor. Lee excelled at studying, as well as various sports. His parents, his family, he himself, expected him to be a doctor once he graduated high school and was accepted into the Seoul National University. The story changed a bit when Lee was called for his mandatory service for the nation's army. He decided to settle in the military, and not as a doctor- a soldier. After years of service he was accepted into the 9th Special Forces Brigade, having proven his determination and skill to be enough for the special forces. He spent most of his life in the Brigade, serving for his nation. Lee's recruitment to the Rainbow team was discussed ever since the two SMB operatives were recruited, but was delayed as the team didn't require his help at the moment. The recruitment gained speed when the Vegas incident happened, resulting in the shortage of operatives in the team. Lee was offered a place in the Rainbow team, and he gladly accepted it.
Training and Experience -Seoul National University(a year spent) -Part of Korea's army since the age of 22 -9th Special Forces Brigade

Ahmad is an extremely versatile individual, capable of blending in and becoming whoever he wants to be. This has aided him greatly while undercover in terrorist cells. It has also aided him in making friends. He is extremely charismatic, and people enjoy being around him. He tries to get people to see the bright side of things and focus on what they can do, versus what they cannot. Though he outwardly projects these things, on the inside he is a hardened, worn individual. Infiltrating terrorist organizations has made him see the worst in humanity. He’s had to do things he deeply regrets to maintain his cover. He constantly forces himself to believe in the greater good. His failures weigh heavily on him. Despite this he is confident, quick-witted, and determined.
On duty he is singularly focused on his objective. He executes well thought-out and lethal tactics based on intel and instinct. Like his personality, he employs every known technique to get the job done. He specializes in search and destroy, as well as hostage rescue. In his mind, hostages can’t be killed if there is no one left to kill them. He has a history of operating alone, which can cause him to put his teammates at risk sometimes. However, he has been known to operate successfully with a team in many missions.
He has spent many years operating in joint forces with the U.S. during the Iraq War, often operating as a translator and guide for U.S. soldiers. This has led him to become more Americanized than most. He appreciates the relative peace the U.S. has lived in while he’s been constantly surrounded by war. He hopes to retire there someday, and so the White Masks assaults on America have given him a personal reason to eliminate them.
Off duty he has been known to relax, enjoy cheap beer, and spend time with his team. He likes to become close friends with those he works with. He is extremely welcoming and friendly, but he doesn’t enjoy being the center of attention. He appreciates the quiet chats in the corner rather than being the life of the party. He also enjoys video games, something he rarely ever played as a kid or for most of his years enlisted. He is often found at the gym, or at the range, keeping his body and his skills well maintained.
He is a determined leader who inspires courage from those around him. He is devoted to his mission, and to the safety of his squad. He was given the nickname "Hero" by American soldiers. This was due to how many American lives he saved in Iraq, and his daring strategies that allowed him to do it. Though he came out of the war mostly unscathed, his mental state can fluctuate. He is proud of himself for what he's done, but the ones he couldn't save weigh heavily on him. Recently he's starting to overthink things, which can make him hesitate. This seems to subside during an OP, making him more than fit for active duty. Though he can be quiet and withdrawn sometimes while off-duty.
Relationships -
He is new to the Rainbow unit, so he hasn’t had the chance to meet or interact with most of its members.
Eliza ‘Ash’ Cohen – A good friend of Ahmad as they were in the IDF together. Elzbieta ‘Ela’ Bosak – He regards Ela as a “Complicated Friend” based on their time together in Iraq
DCDD Mk.1, a device designed to interfere with electronic devices in a way so that they wouldn’t activate. The DCDD remotely identifies and then copies external signals. This effectively hijacks all devices reliant on wirelessly transmitted information. Preventing them from detonating by making them think their signal hasn’t been altered or activated. Ahmad is fed information about remaining battery of the DCDD and is notified if it interferes with a signal.
The DCDD, while extremely useful is limited by battery life and range. Maximum reliable range is up to 4 meters. Battery life is based upon how many signals its currently replicating. It can be powered on and off using its control interface. It was designed to be used by a solo operative infiltrating dangerous areas. Another flaw is that it lacks the ability to locate devices. Which can be potentially fatal when the device is not active, or when others are out of its range.
Ahmad was born in Tel-Aviv, Israel to a poor family. His father was rarely around, leaving him to take care of his mother and sisters. This led to him working extremely hard in any job he could get, forfeiting school and other opportunities to take care of them. However, when he was 15 his mother was killed in a violent terrorist attack, causing him and his sisters to be separated. With no school and no thought of how to find them, he continued to work until he enlisted into the military. It was during the military he began to immediately make something of himself. It didn’t take long for him to get promoted and have his own command.
During his command he was in the wrong place at the wrong time and was kidnapped by Palestinian radicals keen on making a statement that terrorism in Israel wouldn’t stop. He managed to not only escape, but completely dismantled the leadership of the cell on his way out. This caused him to get noticed by Shayetet 13 and Mossad, both counter-terrorism agencies for Israel. He never joined one permanently, instead bouncing between the two as they needed him. They retrained him to not be a soldier, but an operative. Capable of deep undercover operations, as well as naval, and military operations.
His longest tour was done in Iraq during the Iraq wars. He was put on loan to the U.S. due to his ability to integrate into any organization, as well as his knowledge of the area and his ability to translate. As the war went on he was frequently teamed up with Elzbieta Bosak. Though their personalities differed, and Ahmad found her hard to work with, they became a powerful tool during the war. Taking control of Baghdad, assaulting Falluja, and several other classified operations. Ahmad quickly became a sort of hero to U.S. marines in the war. As he constantly was able to locate and pinpoint enemy strongholds, and locate captured soldiers. He was able to save many PoWs slated to be executed on camera for the world to see. After so many successful missions, the Americans started calling him a hero. Mostly because the tactics he used seemed to always put him in danger over his squad, yet he always came out alive. The expression, "Don't be a hero" was not something Ahmad was familiar with. Whether putting himself in the most danger was intentional, or a side-effect of working alone for so long is hard to tell.
After the Iraq war ended in 2013 he began to work for a classified branch of the Mossad. He was given access to top-tier equipment and weapons. It was during this time he was chosen to experiment with the DCDD MK.1. A gadget designed for an operative frequently dealing with remotely detonated explosives, IEDs, cameras, and so on. The gadget made him virtually unkillable by newer technologies, as well as technology employed by terrorist organizations.

Special Forces Group Special Reconnaissance Regiment
Appearance
Standing at 6'1" with a fairly muscular frame Sully is a fairly imposing figure. He has pale blue eyes, mid-length black hair and a short beard. He likes to wear a suit in his private life, finding them comfortable. In urban operations he tends to wear dark camouflage fatiques but will adjust to fit the environment he is in.
Ghost is the kind of person who asks no questions when a friend needs help, running to their aid as soon as he possibly can. This applies in day to day life and on the battlefield. There have been instances in his service history where he has thrown caution to the wind to try and retrieve wounded comrades. It is not that he doesn't care for his safety, he just truly believes in the brothers in arms mentality. He builds strong attachments to those he regularly serves with viewing them as brothers and sisters.
He has a switch in his brain that allows him to instantly go from Joe public to special forces operator in an instant. This has been shown throughout his career, particularly during the terrorist incident in London when he was off duty. He went from enjoying a meal with friends to taking down two of the terrorists in the space of ten seconds.
In terms of trauma as a result of his time in service, he doesn't suffer flashbacks or suffer any form of night terrors. The only real smudge on his profile is that he still doesn't forgive himself for the death of Sergeant Hicks during his first deployment. He can occassionally get emotional about it when he is watching a particularly emotional war film or when heavily inebriated.
Using wireless hacking hardware and an advanced AI, Ghost is able to automatically hack directly into enemy cameras and drones. Any camera or drone not registed on the R6 equipment network within a ten metre radius will cease to work providing nothing but static in both visuals and audio. Once outside of range, the cameras and drones will work as normal once more.
Biography From a young age Rob wanted to carry on the family tradition of joining the Paras. His grandfather, father, uncle and older brother had all be part of the regiment and he wanted to continue that on. The military had always been a big part of his life from a young age as his family followed his father around the world through various deployments. Some time in Germany and Canada was followed by domestic life in their home village of Ynysddu. During that time his father was serving oversea in the war on Terror and was unfortunately killed by an IED. The years that followed were difficult, particularly for Rob's mother as they all tried to deal with the death of his father. This did nothing but harden Robert's resolve to become a soldier in Her Majesty's Armed Forces.
At the age of eighteen Rob was accepted into the Parachute Regiment following in the footsteps of the the men in his family. It wasn't until his second year in the regiment that he saw combat. He and his platoon were sent to the Middle East to fight against the continued threat of militants and had some great successes against them. Unfortunately it was during this time something happened to Rob that he still carries with him. While on patrol his squad were ambushed by a significantly larger force of militants and initial spray of bullets he caught a bullet to the leg. He was left in a small ditch that did nothing to hide his position from the approaching militants. His sergeant, Michael Hicks ran across the open terrain under heavy cover fire provided by the rest of their squad. With a few metres to cover Hick took a bullet to the rib but he pushed on until the pair were in cover. He collapsed to the floor moments later and attempts to revive him were unsuccessful. Rob blames himself for the death of Sergeant Hicks and will not be told otherwise. He spoke at his funeral and promised to show the same bravery and courage to save his fellow soldiers in the future.
After his recovery was finished he returned to active duty a different soldier. He was steeled and determined, fighting the enemy with a ruthless efficiency that eventually caught the notice of one of the British special forces regiments, the Special Reconnaissance Regiment. He undertook their training and was eventually given the emerald grey beret assosciated with the regiment. In the years that followed he was sent around the world on undercover operations, dealing with terrorist organisations of different backgrounds. His regiment saw to the capture of several high profile Islamist militant group leaders as well the destruction of a well known South American drug cartel. Beyond his accomplishments in the field, he developed skills in electronics and computers. He had a natural talent for these fields and used them to assist in missions throughout his career.
During some downtime in the British capital during a warm summer day, Rob was with some friends enjoying a meal outside on Oxford Street when a van was driven into a nearby restaurent. Seeing the event unfold he picked up his steak knife from the table and rushed across the street. He waited several moments, expecting the van to explode but it never came. From the van emerged three men wielding large kitchen knives who began to charge any civilian they could see. By time he closed the gap to the nearest attacker he saw a young woman drop to the floor lifeless. Catching the man by surprise Rob gripped the man by the neck and stabbed him three times in the heart before leaving him to hit the floor dead.
He picked up his knife and made towards the next attacker who was chasing an older gentleman towards him. As the older man passed, Rob took a stand and began to avoid the incoming knife thrusts of the attacker. He deflected the attackers arm on his third flailing thrust, leaving the terrorist open. Rob drove his knife straight into the mans throat, tugging hard to the side to cause as much damage as he could. The man dropped his own knife, clutching at his throat with blood filled gargles as he bled out on the floor.
Looking for the third man Rob spotted him trying to get to to a nearby restaurent. The now lone attacker was soon dodging chairs and tables as the guests at the restaunt began to throw whatever the could at him. From the other side of the road the same was happening and then with an almight thud someone connected with a brick to the side of the mans head, knocking him unconscious. With knife still in hand Rob sprinted over to him and restrained him as the sounds of sirens filled the air.
A further few years serving with the Special Reconnaissance Regiment went by without issue, that was until Rainbow reactivated. He was called to his regimental HQ in Hereford that is shared with the Special Air Service and was personally greeted by Mark "Mute" Chandar. Mark had read through the profiles of all currently serving SAS, SBS and SRR operators and was granted permission by Rainbow to personally handpick a group to take part in selection. One of these people was Rob.

Gonna start my char on Monday, are former Mercs okay?
A former mercenary would have had to served a while in a Special Operations unit before Rainbow found them. Ela was a mercenary, but she did join GROM before Rainbow contacted her.

Okay, I wasn't gonna have them just be a merc that joined Rainbow out of nowhere, but thanks for telling me that first.

Are pictures mandatory or could I just describe my chars? @LetMeDoStuff
Honestly, I would prefer a picture because it helps visualise the character, meaning that whenever someone is writing about yours, they can easily describe it without missing anything.
