Welcome!

In this Soul Eater RP we make our own characters (and please completely your own, not son or daughter of a canon character).
You can choose to be a weapon, a meister or both (prefered to keep the balance between the amount of meisters and weapons - it's your own choice though to pair up with someone else or your own characters).

You can be one of the normal characters (based on abilities) or one of the classmates that are exceptionally good (which doesn't mean that they are perfect, no human is perfect). It's totally up to you.

Another possibility is for you to be a villain! You can be one of the witches (not a canon one) or create your own villain (that is part of the organisation).

Do look at the other characters before posting, we don't want several characters to be too similar!

Post at least 2 paragraphs and at least once a week (if something happened and you can't do once a week temporarely, say something so it wouldn't look like you ditched).

The Character Sheet
Appearance by picture
Name
Gender
Age
Personality
Weapon (and what kind) or meister or villain (and what kind)
Partner (if you have one)
Workes for (if you choose villain, your boss is one of the witches if you aren't a witch yourself)
The normal group or exceptional group (if you choose to be a weapon or meister)
History (where you put the extra information on your character)

Hmmmm Interested but I would love to know some general story plans. I watched the anime and read the manga, but the question is really, Are we post the show or is this going to be a "we replace the main cast" and follow the normal story?

@percius388 it's after the anime, so we can do our own story. I didn't make a storyline yet so everyone can give their ideas ;)

So does this mean that as we "Make our own Story" I can make a villainous character to act as a repeat antagonist or something?

Cool! Sounds awesome. I will follow along on this thread as this is one of my favorite series. Do you recommend having 2 different people be a pair of weapon and meister, like say me as your weapon @Squirrel98 and you the Meister, or 1 person control both? Sorry if I ask to many questions, just want to plan my character accordingly

@percius388 I think it's what you prefer actually, if you prefer posting longer or more frequent then it's the easiest way to be both weapon and meister, but if you prefer the bond between the meister and the weapon I think it's better to be one of them
I myself am bad at writing battle scènes and like how two characters bond, so I prefer being only the weapon ;)

@Squirrel98 Sorry for being late to reply, when I had got off work the other day I was too tired to actually post up on rpg, I apologize again.

By barebones, I meant that your opening post for this looks pretty bare and doesn't really have much to go off of, such as a story really, it's just soul eater academy really but not much to it. I could talk about the lack of real rules but I believe in casual people should know how to really behave and act accordingly. But I hate to sound rude or even insulting but this almost reminds me of a free rp, you don't really have much to to the starting op besides just."Welcome, soul eater rp, make ocs not related to the actual characters" and I don't know how you expect to have people put up a 2 paragraph post when you only like 3 to 4 sentences for your opening post.

I'll just say work on it more, make it more than half a paragraph for the op, you have something really interesting to work with, soul eater, make a story or something for the people to work off of instead of just having the rp here and expecting them to make up their character from nothing without any aid to make the characters, there's more that I might be missing to say, but those are some of the things I think is the main problem really.

@Spriggs27 I didn't put up the rules, because I expect that people already know them as everyone writes up the same ones.
I didn't write out a story yet as I wanted to discuss with everyone what they think would fit into the world of Soul Ester, what kind of story. If no one has suggestions, but some have already made a character, then I can think of a story around the characters they want to make. I don't want to make a premade story and half of the people become uninterested. It's not like I won't make a storyline, I just waited with it, so I can make suggestions of a storyline after people put up what they think or a character or something so everyone is satisfied with the storyline.

@Spriggs27 If you would like to know: I already have a storyline in mind, I just waited with posting it to know if someone has an idea or character that can inspire something to add

In the storyline I have in mind are already vague characters dividend, if everyone thinks it easier then I can post the storyline and everyone choose a character in the story to build their character

@Squirrel98 The fact that you have vague ideas of who the characters will be early on isn't a good indicator. Since that just makes it seem like an incredibly rigid story.

Anyway, let people know the setup and what the idea is, and you might get more interest.

@Reflection with vague ideas I mean like a characteristic (example: energetic), it's more like I have three groups in mind for the students in the academy: the first above all consists of the most powerful student pairs of weapon-meister, then you have the second group that has gained already some kind of power and bond with their partner and last you have the newbies.

One by one the pairs of the most powerful group are disappearing. There are rumours that they are on an important, secret mission, rumours that they are kidnapper and so on. After some time, the students from the second group are also disappearing one pair by one.

One month later the newbies get an explanation. The fact is that a big threat exists somewhere far away. A lot of powerful pairs were send there, but they didn't survive, didn't send an answer back, just didn't come back or asked for more help.

The newbies get three days of preparation before they have to leave too, but they are not alone: some pairs of the second group have yet to leave (the amount of pairs from the second group can be discussed, in my mind it's only one, but it depends on the amount of newbies), but this time they are going together.

They travel from city to city to stop the small threats, get information and to rest. Their destination is a big field where the monster is supposed to be hiding.

This is what I had in mind, what do you think?

@Squirrel98, I have a few comments to make so I'll just go through them one at a time.

First of all, when you say there are three groups of students what do you mean? I ask because there are already two distinct classes of students in Soul Eater, the NOT class and the EAT class. EAT are the students we see in the main series who go on missions and are aiming for the goal of creating/becoming a Death Scythe, while the NOT students are those who are not at that level, either weapons who can't control their power or meisters who don't have a partner/aren't strong enough to fight Kishin Eggs. Are you saying that you want the EAT class to be split into three levels based on ability, or would something like 1st, 2nd and 3rd year students be better?

Secondly, I liked the sound of your idea at first but then it kind of fell short for me. The idea of the strongest students starting to disappear and no-one knowing why is cool, but the fact that they all disappeared on the same mission has a few issues; the main one being the question of "why not just send a teacher?". Why wouldn't Shibusen send someone like Stein of even call in a Death Scythe to deal with a problem that is killing off so many students, why send the weakest students in instead?

I think a better idea might be if students start to disappear on unrelated missions, sometimes even after completing the mission objective. The plot would be that there is a rival organisation, something like Arachne's group from the series, that is picking off Shibusen students one at a time for unknown purposes; they would either kill them or capture them, but either way the students just vanish. The RP might start off with our characters setting off on a group mission and being attacked by this group along the way, fighting off the attackers and finding out some information about these enemies that sets off the events of the plot as we start to unravel who they are and what they want.

Lastly, I mentioned this in the interest check but I don't know if you saw it, but I think it would be fair if everyone makes one meister and one weapon and then pairs up with other people; i.e. I make a weapon and pair them with another person's meister, then make a meister and pair them with a third persons weapon. That way we have an even number of meisters and weapons no matter how many people join and everyone gets to the full experience. Because let's face it, being a weapon is great until a fight starts and you have nothing to do.

Just an addition to the above, my suggestion about everyone making a meister and a weapon shouldn't interfere with people who want to createa weapon/meister pair by themselves, or people who want to play a villain or even a solo weapon. I don't want to restrict anyone in what they want to write.

@King Cosmos About the first comment: I had in mind that the three groups would all do missions and the like as in the EAT class split into three groups. The dividing would be based on the abilities.

Your idea sounds very good to me! I like it a lot!

I get what you mean. There might indeed be a bad balance between weapons and meisters if everyone just does one of them. The idea of everyone having one character for both sounds better if no one pairs up with their own character as that misses the bond between the meister and the weapon in my opinion, but maybe other people think differently about that. If there are enough people that can double, then we can make that a rule.

With your idea, people can make their own villain that is a part of the organisation.

Dude, I only said that I wouldn't go into rules because I said. "I could talk about the lack of real rules but I believe in casual people should know how to really behave and act accordingly"

Reflection says it best for the story.

Personally I think that it's gonna be incredibly hard or near impossible for someone to come in and make a character without some form of story behind it besides the main soul eater lore. Then again you could have people who don't know soul eater and join and not know small details besides weapons eat souls that become kishin eggs, they might not know about stuff like resonance and some of the other mystical stuff.

Okay on the premade story, if you don't make one, then you might not get any interest and have people not bother reading when they see the first single partial paragraph for the opening post.

Nice work on making something for the opening post, but I would have to say that I agree with Cosmos. This all seems like something a teacher would take care of or they would simply stop sending people on that one mission or stop sending people out of a certain skill level, it's not like every strong person in the academy is Black star and think they are unkillable. They would pair up in groups before slowly stop going out, and if the next group was having the same problem they would do the same thing till the weakest class would be told to not do missions completely and get the teachers to jump at the problem because I doubt that the teachers, staff, and Shinigami would just keep sending people on missions without worrying about them, then go with the idea of, throw more people at the problem.

I'd suggest that a coven of witches are springing up and slowly gathering with more witches springing up across the world to help Arachne strenghten the Kishin and the group are a team of different meisters and weapons that are mid classed warriors of different skills and strengths to take on these witches across the world.

@Spriggs27 That's why I agreed on Cosmos' idea of having them disappear on different missions, that way it's not so simple as just sending a teacher.

The group that Cosmos mentioned can indeed be a group of witches that have as goal to strengthen the Kishin.

That's what I was going for. It would be a situation that the teachers wouldn't be able to solve because they wouldn't have enough information about the group responsible.

The group that Cosmos mentioned can indeed be a group of witches that have as goal to strengthen the Kishin.

When it comes to the nature of the villain group I think we could do one of two things. Either we decide as part of this planning stage who the villains are (A coven of witches, a faction of particularly advance Kishin Eggs, a group of rogue Meisters/Weapons, etc), include information about it in the first post and allow anyone to create characters belonging to that group. Or we have one person take full narrative responsibility of the group, either the GM or someone collaborating with the GM, and they take control of all NPC villains and have their main character be the final boss.

The former gives people a chance to contribute to both sides of the story and turns the RP into a PvP thing, while the latter means that the identity of the villains is kept a secret so both the writers and the characters find out more about them at the same time which could help to make the story more immersive.
