Shirou has something of a distorted take on the concept of being a Seigi no Mikata. Though he follows the stereotypical ideals that all evil must be vanquished and all good must be protected, and so on and so forth, he believes the idea that some people are allowed to live and others are forced to die to be an inherently wrong and unfair concept. He doesn't simply wish to combat evil and protect good, but rather he seeks a way to deal with the fundamentally "evil" concept that is mortality. He isn't one to simply try and save people, and give up when he hits his limit. More often than not he will risk his very life to save others, even if they don't deserve to be saved.
These ideals are taken and pushed to the extremes in his day to day life. He refuses to stand by at the sidelines of his own limitations, and constantly attempts to push the boundaries of what he can achieve. Letting people that do not deserve it to die, when he could have intervened or assisted, is an unacceptable failure of his duties as a Hero of Justice. No amount of hardship or persuasion could affect his beliefs and ideals, and will act upon them without hesitation, without reward, and without reprieve, because that is what it means to be a Seigi no Mikata.
Another note of Shirou's personality is the extreme stubbornness he displays. No matter who the opponent is, whether he is in the right of wrong, whether he is a hypocrite or not, he will stand by his beliefs and ideals until the bitter end, come what may. Injury, hatred, the dissolution of friendships, or even death - nothing can and will come between him and what he decides is right to do by himself, the people he must protect, or the world at large.

Shirou stands at approximately five foot seven, with short, auburn hair. He is relatively thin, but quite well built for his age, with decently fair skin and perceptive, golden-brown eyes. Despite what his Talent might suggest, he dresses in far less ambitious that might be expected, his wardrobe comprised primarily of very casual clothes; his primary and most common outfit being a pair of blue jeans and a blue and white shirt.

Backstory:
Emiya Shirou was, while far from a household name, a mildly famous individual. In a world dominated by people with immense talent, known as Ultimates, there is little room for lesser heroes. But a lesser hero is exactly what Shirou once was. Some research on him reveals a small amount of information, suggesting that his life, apart from that which can be found, was relatively uneventful. Said research uncovers a news article regarding a large fire Kobe City, which killed almost everyone involved. One of the survivors was one Emiya Shirou, who was subsequently adopted by an anonymous male who assisted as a volunteer to search for survivors.
Through his thus far short life, Shirou was, for the most part, unknown. At least, he was unknown throughout Japan, and the world. In his place of birth, Kobe City, he was a surprisingly well known name. A busy body, with a penchant for Archery, who took on any job he could just to help out. The same could be said in the streets, for anywhere he went, he assisted those around him, no matter the issue. Perhaps he could more closely be referred to as a Local Hero, than a Hero of Justice, yet still the exploits of a boy striving for a better world reached the prestigious academy of Hopes Peak, and as such he was enrolled.
