@Kingfisher I was finishing up work on my sheet and so I checked up on the page for any new info and I noticed a co-GM has appeared. Except I can't find this person saying anything in int check, or main thread, or on the guild at all for over 3 weeks ... Just thought that was a bit of an odd pick.

Ezekiel and I know each other IRl, so we did some spit-balling of ideas for this game before I put the interest check up, and he's coming back onto the guild to help run it :)

@MagratheanWhale @FoxFire @Legion of TV Heads

WIPs all look great so far, guys! Lemmie know when they're finished.

Looking forwards to seeing what you come up with!

Tentatively interested if there is still room for me. Will likely lurk for a while to cogitate ideas before becoming particularly vocal should there still be some room for applications. Heck, will probably lurk and read along even if not.

I haven't read the currently processing character sheets yet but after a few hours of mullung thoughts the muse has struck me; I seem enamored with the Militia, and any character I make will likely fall under their umbrella as a faction.

So, I'm not sure the physical and power limitations of our characters, so, if there are any changes that you would like to make, I can always edit my character. Otherwise, here it is.

Name/Nicknames: Cameron Fier ~ Tenebris

Gender: Male

Age: 29

Appearance:

Natural: Before Cameron had himself augmented, he had wavy and long blonde hair, piercing icy, blue eyes, and an angular face. Without augmentations, he stood at 6’2’’ and was 194 pounds of lean muscle. Cameron was never the type to build up massive muscles, he was lean and fit with a muscular, but wiry, build. Due to his childhood and how he was raised, he kept his head held high, causing him to look much taller and more confident than he truly was.

Augmentations: Once augmented, Cameron became quite different, depending on whether or not his armour was enabled or disabled. Without his armour, Cameron now stood at 6’4’’ and was 225 pounds of pure muscle. While he didn’t lose his muscular and fit build, he gained a large amount of muscle mass, creating a broader shoulder man. Along with augmenting his physical shape and size, his eyes changed from a cold blue to a deep magenta, a color that almost seemed to reflect and glow in the darkness. His hair color and length didn’t change much other than a shorter and more spartan look. With his armor enabled, he becomes even larger, massive cybernetic muscles combining with the newest in alloy research, to boost him up another two inches and add another twenty pounds to his build. The armour covers his entire body, starting with reinforced armour on his joints, and cleanly transitioning into less heavy armour on the rest of his body. His face also gets covered, utilizing the newest informational and protective technology to both shield his face from incoming fire, but also provide him with full readings and information on his enemies.

Personality: Cameron has experienced much pain throughout his life, starting with his abusive father who constantly beat Cameron and his mother. In addition to having a bad homelife, he grew up in the slums of Mars, constantly being beaten up by gang members and the police. This was partially what caused him to join up with a gang and what ultimately caused him to be introverted and merciless. When speaking with him off the battlefield, one could surmise that he has a crude intelligence and a cold outer exterior. While it does not outwardly show, Cameron has a great number of fears which contribute to his lack of social skills and introverted personality. When dealing with higher level Gang Bosses, or superiors, Cameron is stone-cold, not showing any empathy or concern for his targets. This lack of empathy does not stop with his targets, but lack of care for civilian casualties has earned him the name Tenebris.

When on the battlefield, Cameron rarely speaks, relying on his superior speed and strength to do the talking for him. His cold outer exterior rarely breaks, but on the occasion that someone were to get to him, his inner rage would break out resulting in his complete loss of control and his lack of forethought.

Bio: Cameron grew up in the slum districts of Mars, his father being a factory worker and his mother being an adult entertainer. Cameron didn’t have a very good childhood, starting with his father’s addiction to multiple street drugs and his mothers constant absence. Having his mother gone constantly resulted in Cameron being beat by his father in his common fits of rage. It was around the age of the five that Cameron was first introduced into the gang life when his father had failed to pay his protection fee, which caused two bruisers to break into his house and beat his father within an inch of his life. Along with beating his father, the two men repeatedly raped his mother while making Cameron watch. This dark beginning seeded the inner workings of his mind which were quick to fall into depression and drugs. When moving into his primary school, his father left to return to Earth, leaving his mother and him with little to no income. However, there was a positive to his father leaving, which temporarily made Cameron’s life somewhat enjoyable, with the absence of his daily beatings. With his father gone, his mother had to work later hours and would rarely return home to take care of him. This left Cameron to his own devices for the majority of his teenage years, which started with his descent into drugs and minor crimes. Then, tragedy struck again when Cameron was hit by a police car, breaking his leg and forcing incredible charges that his mother couldn’t hope to pay for. With no way to pay for his surgery, his mother turned to help from one of the local gangs, promising her son’s allegiance if they were able to pay for his surgery. This put both of them in the gang’s debt, beginning Cameron’s career in the life of crime. At the age of sixteen, Cameron made his first kill on a blue-collar man who had failed to pay a portion of his weekly income. This added onto his serious mental problems causing him anxiety and serious depression. With such an awful upbringing, it was quite easy to predict his eventual induction into one of the larger gangs and his eventual career into the dark underworld.

When he turned eighteen, he left home, pledging his allegiance to a larger gang who promised him protection and training. It was quite obvious from his previous record and his prominent physical capabilities that he would become a seasoned hitman. After his promotion to an official assassin and his numerous successful hits, the gang boss became aware of his existence and began to groom him with training in melee weapons and hand-to-hand combat. Eventually, after becoming a high tier assassin and harder targets, and the need to be stronger and faster, he became the first test subject for the Kronos Augmentations. With the success of the augmentations, he began another series of tests and experiments to ready him for the painful process of the Xenos Modifications. At this point, his mental stability shattered, shoving him out of the top and throwing him into pure psychopathy. Since he had so dishonorably fallen out of the gang’s grace, they threw him out onto the streets, which in his mental state, was a death sentence.

He disappeared into the darkness for three years before emerging back into the world of assassins. With his return, he remained unaffiliated until given an offer with one of the largest gangs on Mars. Utilizing his cruelty and lack of empathy, he began to work his way back to the top, killing whoever got in his way. Now, back at the top of the food chain, he was again awarded with new augmentations which only furthered his talents. Being at the top, many assassins began to take notice of this ‘new’ upstart who had worked his way there in a relatively short amount of time, these more veteran assassins began to target him to attempt to bring him crumbling down. These attempts were nothing more than that, attempts. He killed everything that was thrown his way and would stop at nothing to retain his position.

Augmentation: Cameron Fier has been given a large assortment of augmentations, ranging from the Xenos Modifications which enhance his reaction speed and pain management, and ending with the Kronos Augmentations which boost his strength and speed. While many of them are on trivial things such as metabolism and cancer prevention, four modifications are of military and combat uses.

Kronos Augmentations ~ The Kronos Augmentations were given to him for two reasons, the first was to ensure that he could survive the other modifications, and the second reason was to fully propel him into the cybernetic world. While many assassins and mercenaries do have the Kronos Augmentations, Cameron’s have been specialized to raise his reaction speed exponentially, and to ensure that he could still function through immense pain. His reaction speed isn’t fast enough that one could move out of the way of a laser or high-velocity round, but when in melee or hand-to-hand combat it becomes a deadly combination, especially when paired with his dual-blade combat form.

Xenos Modifications ~ The Xenos Modifications were perhaps the largest ones that were given to Cameron, as these were the ones that made him taller and larger. They’re relatively simple modifications and just enhance his speed to transhuman levels and allow him to lift much more than a regular human could possibly hope to. They aren’t incredibly strong modifications as he can only run at 30 km/h and can only lift up to one ton, maximum. These modifications are visible in some portions of his body, as from his back the high-stress molecular supports glow green underneath his skin.

Valkyrie Mark II Modifications ~ The Valkyrie Mark II modifications again focus on his mental capabilities, increasing both the flow of adrenaline in battle, and allowing him to calm himself when experiencing tremendous amounts of pain. In reality, the Valkyrie modifications are just upgraded versions of the Kronos Augmentations.

Ceres Experimental Additions ~ Finally, the Ceres Experimental Additions are perhaps the smallest changes that Cameron has received, but perhaps the most powerful. The Ceres Project was founded to begin in cell regeneration. The science derives from the science behind cancer, except that these cells need to be activated by a chemical trigger. While it isn’t a full regeneration factor, injuries where he loses whole limbs no longer need to be replaced by new cybernetic arms but will grow back after a period of months. These are still highly experimental and the full effects haven’t been tested. A drawback for such a powerful augmentation is the trigger that activates the ability if not taken for more than two days, when recovering from an injury, will cause him incredible pain and cancer. Due to how the augmentation was derived from actual cancer cells, if not kept under control will completely disable Cameron.

Weaknesses: Although Cameron is an extremely powerful tool, almost all of his enhancements have serious health problems that will eventually take a toll on his body. The estimated life-span of Cameron with these four enhancements, only projects him to live for another ten years maximum. Although this is a serious consequence, another weakness that is more prevalent on the battlefield is his mental stability. While two of his enhancements allow him to focus and withstand excruciating pain, they have taken their toll on the man, leaving him deranged and unstable. This results in both his ‘bravery’ in the battlefield, which causes him to charge into battles with little to no preparation or thought of how it could turn out. Yet another weakness, is his susceptibility to EMP grenades which will disable his physical augmentations. This will leave him as vulnerable as a regular human (albeit he will still retain his reaction speed) and will deactivate his strength and speed.

Weaponry:

Jiûjiébiān ~ Nine Section Whip Chain ~ Dual
Utilizing the chain whip’s superior range and flexibility, Cameron is an expert in this form of combat. Using a tritanium metal alloy, for both superior tensile strength and somewhat lighter weight. While many have forgotten this form of combat, the chain whip is extremely effective at keeping superior enemies or heavier hitting enemies at a distance.
Daishō/Wakizashi ~ Dual-Bladed Long/Short Sword Combination

Cameron’s most used weapon, a Daishō/Wakizashi combination involves a longer blade, such a katana, and a shorter sword to accent the longer weapon. When used in synchronization, the longer swords can withstand heavier blows while the shorter sword is useful while in extremely close to an enemy. This weapon combination also works for expert counter-attacks and relies on parries instead of blocking.

Kabutowari ~ ‘Skull’ Breaker Knife
Cameron’s ‘trophy’ weapon, the Kabutowari uses a two-blade system. The main portion of the dagger is used as just that, a dagger. The special part of this weapon is the shorter blade that extends from the hilt. It is excellent for piercing as while one might be able to block the longer blade, before falling prey to the sharper, shorter one. Although he has been seen wielding this weapon, it is used mainly for executions and has become his signature killing style.

Looks good! Sam is accepted. Feel free to add her to the cs tab.

@Sir Parzival Happy to accept Cameron, if we could maybe just tone down the über killy death machine-ness, just a tiny bit. I appreciate the hypocrisy, given how I made Knox something of one-man army, but he's more meant to be an obstacle for the players to collectively overcome, than a player character himself. Other than that, Cameron looks great :)

I feel like we've hit our quota for unstoppable robo-assassins now, so moving forwards I'm going to be a bit more critical of super duper cyborg killing machines. That's not to say I won't be accepting characters who are leaning towards the superhuman side of things, I'd just prefer to see a bit more variety in the roster.

@Sir Parzival

On my end, as just a small comment from a japanophile, the Daisho (meaning 'big little' in reference to the two swords) itself already contains a katana and a wakizashi as an ensemble, so the additional mention of the wakizashi specifically seemed a bit odd unless it was for the sake of enlightening those of us less enthused by the bushido and kenjutsu respectively.

Just a teasing little poke, nothing wrong with it, just an amused offering of terminology explaining if you didn't know. :P

Hello, I've been lurking this for a while. I realize there's a lot of people interested already, but what can you do? Cyberpunk is fantastic, and you're offering to scratch the itch after the mindblowing gameplay demonstration for Cyberpunk 2077. It's the season :)

I have a few questions regarding the setting, if you'll indulge me. First, what's the established state of AI? Are they still mostly primitive, or do we already have (almost-) sentience? Is the tech embraced and actively researched, or have governments banned it under the pretext of its many dangers?

Second, is the concept of sleeving (akin to Altered Carbon or Eclipse Phase) a thing in this? I think FoxFire mentioned transferring somebody's consciousness multiple times into new bodies, which would mean yes. If so, where do the bodies come from? Corporate-produced I guess?
Edit: This would also imply the existence of cortical stacks (salvageable module that contains a backup of your ego). Widely distributed or only for a select elite?

Lastly, and tangentially related to the previous one, is mindjacking somebody possible in this world? As in, ramming a usb cable into someone's neck or doing a wireless infiltration to gain access to a person's, if nothing else, electronic functions relating to their augments (but potentially more - where is the line drawn?).

Thanks :D
