Before we dive into this there’s some things I’d like to go over, so bare with me.
I’ve played this rp lots of times, I’ve had to deal with lots of issues, there’s been countless things that have bothered me but I’ve let slide, well I’m done with that. We’re no newbs to rping or this universe I’ve created so there’s no excuse for the ridiculous pitfalls that we’ve had in the past. These will all be characters that are enlisted in the military, so please make them in a way that it makes sense for them to be there. PLEASE no characters that; have significant physical or mental disabilities, cannot follow orders, cannot work with others, have a “lone wolf” complex, are constantly reckless, are unrelenting smart-asses to their superiors, always drunk, have unreasonable experience, skills, or items, cannot function in a military structured life, are not useful members of the squad, etc. I feel like these should all be obvious… but apparently they aren’t(que heavy sigh as I think about past renditions). I’m open to your ideas and willing to work with you on things and see how we might be able to fit them in, but at this point I cannot make any extreme exceptions for these characters. As the rp progresses we might be able to introduce characters with a little more outlandish concepts, but for now let’s just try to keep this relatively basic for my sake. Thank you.
Like I said above, these are enlisted SOLDIERS. They have been through basic training, and maybe the military academy (officer school) as well. They’ll have 5-10 years experience that would include time spent in combat. They may not be pros, but they aren’t nuggets either. All of the characters, regardless of speciality, will have training and at least some experience with standard issue guns and weapons, ship layout and basic controls, navigation, tactics, some survival skills, basic vehicle operation, and at least basics in field medicine. Age of enlistment would be 18, depending on their background some may have started at the academy as early as 16. So with the minimum of 5 years of experience your character will be no less than 23 years old. Please put some thought into balancing your rank, speciality, and age in at least a semi logical way.
Also another very important point: none of these characters are a part of the Rebirth program. That’s right, you’re all mortals… please don’t die.
Additional, I don’t expect you guys to intentionally do this but it’s been enough of an issue in both this rp and others that I feel it’s worth noting. Don’t argue IC. Your characters are absolutely allowed to argue! That's part of writing a group of people after all. What I mean is don't argue using your characters as a medium. If you disagree with something their character did, don't like them, don't like how they're being played, etc don't argue and fight about it via your characters. This isn't an easy concept for me to describe, but there's a definite difference between your characters fighting with each other and two people fighting through their characters. I've seen it countless times, even been involved in it plenty. It gets people flustered and can derail entire rps. For example if there's an issue with a mission you disagree with let the gm or co gm know, don't argue out the logistics IC. But if there's a point you think your CHARACTER would disagree with then by all means bring it up IC.
The same goes for physical fights, probably even more so. I’m sure we can each think of a time when there’s been a scenario of someone’s character punching ours and them giving us no warning or consideration, like they just hijacked our character and the scene itself. And in most of those cases had it gone down logically your character would have had some kind of reaction before getting a broken jaw. Don't control other people's characters like that and don't start pointless fights without consent of the other player. If and when any of you guys do start fights or significant arguments there should be OOC communication on how it's going to go and who will “win”. I definitely don’t want to mess with your rhythm of a good scene, I just want to help us avoid the pitfalls of these situations.

Specialties are on a first come first serve basis. Feel free to lay claim on what you'd like even if you don't have your character written yet. Let's try to keep things balanced in a way that makes sense. So for example we only need one medic. Having two specialties is fine as long as it's a reasonable combination. If we have more than one character that specializes in something like marksmanship that's fine too.

Let's say current RP takes place when Rin is 64, Rebirth program has been around for 34 years. In previous renditions it’s been 50 years into the Rebirth program. Yes I know, it's confusing. But this is how I keep track of time in this universe.
