Name: Luka Young
Alias: Vaporwave
Age: 18
Gender: Male
Precautions: Dampening Bracelet
Sexuality: Gay and very single (wink wonk~)
Personality: Luka comes off as a very friendly, if strange, person. A lot of the time, he seems to be off in his own world, and in conversation his mind can go weird places. Despite being spacey and sometimes inscrutable, he’s easy to talk to and fun to be around. He’s the kind of person who would start singing out of nowhere just because he felt like it. He has a strange sense of humor, finding comedy in the absurd and slightly scary (He once imagined a horse race in which none of the horses had legs and couldn’t stop laughing for, like, an hour).
While he seems unapologetically unique to an outside observer, Luka actually hides plenty of anxiety and insecurity. He tries his best to be confident in who he is, but he’s used to feeling ashamed of himself. His way of dealing with these feelings isn’t a particularly healthy one: He ignores them, keeping anything less than pleasant hidden under an impenetrable layer of ironic detachment. He’s kind of a mess, but at least he tries.
Powers/Abilities: > Luka secretes a hallucinogenic substance from his skin at all times.
> The substance can be absorbed through direct contact and produces effects similar to Psylocibin mushrooms.
> When affected, the subject can experience disorientation, psychedelic visions, spatial distortion, feelings of transcendence, euphoria, and paranoia.
> Symptoms take effect after five seconds of continuous contact, and last for ten minutes after contact is broken.
> If Luka gets exceptionally worked up or overexerts himself, he produces much more of the hallucinogen, creating a gaseous miasma around him that can cause lesser effects when breathed in.
> While wearing his dampening bracelet, he can touch people without affecting them much longer than without it. With the bracelet, it takes about an hour for symptoms to start.
> Luka is immune to his own effects, and isn’t affected by any hallucinogenic drugs (at least not after the first time).
Appearance: Luka can easily be mistaken for a girl, which is exactly how he likes it. He looks young, with a short stature and round face, and, when he’s not wearing a uniform, he dresses in a feminine way. He likes wearing bright and pastel colors, mostly pinks and blues, and wears feminine accessories like stockings and decorative hair clips. His aesthetic is very important to him, so he’s not happy about having to wear a gray jumpsuit all the time. He still tries to accessorize as much as he can, though. Just out of spite.
He has fluffy blond hair that reaches his chin, and bright blue eyes. His hair gets in his face, and at this point he’s just given up trying to keep it tamed.
When in costume, he wears a black sleeveless shirt, shorts, thigh-high stockings, and… half-sleeves? He never really figured out what to call the little sort-of-glove things on his arms. The outfit is mostly black and white with pink and blue highlights. To communicate with his team, he wears a pair of headphones with decorative cat ears for extra cute-points.
He can’t dress as cute as he wants to in everyday life, so he has to go hard when he can, okay?
Other: > He likes cats, dessert foods, and anime.
> He writes as a hobby. Specifically, he writes erotic fan fiction, mostly involving monsters.
> He vapes, because of course he does.
History: Since he was a kid, Luka was always under the weight of his parents’ expectations. His real estate agent mother and politician father came down hard on him, wanting their only child to be as successful as they were. They didn’t approve of the way he liked to dress, or what he liked to do, and he didn’t dare mention he was anything but straight as an arrow.
The more his parents tried to mold him into the ideal son, the more he pushed back. Eventually, he ended up falling in with a sketchy crowd; the kind of kids who cut class to smoke under the bleachers, and went out into the woods at night to get high.
Luka was 16 when he first tried shrooms. One of his friends had brought some to their get-together, and he needed little coaxing to try them out. Once the hallucinations started, something was triggered within him, though he didn’t realize it until later.
Later, in this case, meant roughly ten minutes later, when the police crashed their hangout. Luka and his friends scattered, but he didn’t get very far in his impaired state. One of the officers grabbed his arm, but something made them let go.
Luka somehow managed to make his way home, stumbling through the door while his parents were still awake. His mother, concerned about his flushed appearance, put a hand on his forehead to check for a fever.
All Luka remembers from the rest of the night is his mother acting weird and scared, and his father panicking and calling 911. Before he knew it, he was packing up his things and being shipped off to New Horizon Academy. Apparently, tripping on shrooms had triggered a dormant superpower in him, and he had given the police officer and his mother contact highs.
His time at the Academy was uneventful; he tried to keep his head down until he graduated. Now that he’s living in the Tower, he’s happy to at least have a little more freedom, but he still doesn’t appreciate the situation he’s been basically forced into.
He’s pent-up and itching to create a little chaos.
