In a jewelry store in Gotham a blonde woman returned to the counter carrying a ring box. "Here you go, Mr. Davidson." she said to a fifty-something man who was standing there with a twenty-something woman. "Three karat top-grade diamond in a platinum ring." The blonde opened the case and the twenty something squealed with glee.

"Perfect." Mr. Davidson said. "Ring me up." As she did so he continued. "That's what I like about you. You know exactly what I want and don't charge me extra to not tell my wife."

"Well, I'm already making a 20% commission. No need to double dip." Mr. Davidson smiled and the twenty-something woman looked at the the blonde jealously, so she quickly continued. "Owe, you don't have to worry about me stealing him. I'm done with dating older men."

Before the woman could respond there was an explosion outside. The rest of the people ran towards the front door to see what was happening but a strange creature carrying a weapon entered, blocking them in.

"Oh, no." the blonde said, and her eyes started to glow yellow. She thrust out her hand and the ring flew out of the case and straight through the creature's head. The ring floated back and she grabbed it, her eyes returning to normal. "Uh, I'll run that through the washer, Mr. Davidson. I'm sure you don't want it right now." Some sort of black goop dripped from between her fingers.

Mr. Davidson was about to say something when another, closer, explosion took out the front windows and several more of the creatures started approaching the front door. "Get them into the vault." She told the manager, who was standing there, staring at the approaching creatures.

"What is going on here, Miss Markov?" he demanded.

"Parademons." she replied. "No time to explain. Just do it." Her eyes began to glow again, and everything with a crystal in it in the showroom began to float. "I'll hold them off."

One week ago the forces of Apokolips arrived in this star system. While several of their ships attacked the Watchtower in orbit, most of them entered the atmosphere and began landing a billion parademons. While the Justice League was able to hold them off for almost a day, eventually they had to abandon the Watchtower. They moved to the surface, however, and and joined the fight there, as many superhumans, hero and villain, had done. The combined forces, including every nation's military and many that were released from prison on the grounds that they fight for their respective countries, an idea put forth by Amanda Waller, were able to hold the alien invaders at bay for three days. They finally fell when Darkseid himself showed up and joined the fight, killing the four Kryptonians which challenged him, Superman, Supergirl, Power Girl, and Bizarro, and hanging their corpses in Metropolis' central park. He then sent out his new gods to hunt down anyone of significant power that stood against them, to capture them for conversion if possible and kill them if necessary.

The Green Lantern John Stewart managed to get a message out to Oa before he was killed, along with the other Lanterns, but it is doubtful that his or anyone else's pleas for help will be answered.

We are lesser know characters and OCs that managed to live through it. Maybe we are metas, mages, or just tech nerds that found someone's tech cache, but now have to fight back to drive them off the Earth. Hero, Villain, other, it doesn't matter. We all have our reasons to fight.

Here's an idea:

We could actually become space pirates.

Ideas:
1) there are a lot of aliens in the DCU. Maybe one wants to come here.
2) You could be one of Darksied's troops or slaves.
3) Lots of heroes and villains died. Uses their stuff/ identity or be their child.
4) Atlantis and Themiscara might still be holding out.

I feel like this would've had to have been settled in th interest check first to see how much people were interested in it. Then, depending on the viewers and possible participants, then make the OOC.

If I may note, the way that you setup the story makes it as if Darkseid is unbeatable. Furthermore, with 90% of our heroes AND villains dead and gone, including the powerhouses, who is really going to stand a chance against him? Impossible odds may be DC's specialty, but there isn't really a clear cut way to be able to pull this off.

My Suggestion: Maybe our characters are just on the brink of the earth being conquered but they are sent back in time by Dr. Fate or something to try and prevent that future from occurring. Fate determines that only those of lesser notoriety in terms of cosmic crisis can be sent back successfully. That could maybe have more interest behind it.

I get that you may want the whole post apocalypse vibe, but there isn't really a specific story to follow, making it a sandbox that's a little too big.

There are plenty of people in the galaxy that COULD take him on, but trying to get New Genesis or the Daxamites to come to our rescue would take a long time, I suppose.

I had an earlier version of this where some humans managed to escape Earth, then Luthor built a time machine and let several people use it to go back in time and warn everyone/ bring them intel/ advanced tech.

I could use that one if you think it would work better.

Never seen an issue where anyone has straight up taken Darkseid down but rather made him retreat to his own dimension. A fight with the New Gods, would kinda put the earth at risk because while they may be able to counter him, he won't lose either. In which case, Darkseid's power is 90% of the time nerfed so that he doesn't wreck the justice league and conquer the earth at his actual power levels.

In all, I think the time travel idea works out better.

I've unsubbed from the old version, but hows this:

Thirty years ago Darkseid attacked Earth. Almost every Hero and Villain tried to fight them, but Earth lost and most of those that fought back died. Some of the survivors managed to escape with a few hundred thousand survivors, including those that were evacuated by the few aliens that answered Earth's distress signals, before Darkseid glassed the planet to guarantee that it never again stood against him. Star Labs, Wayne Enterprises, Lexcorp, and several others managed to get ships off of the planet along with heroes, villains, or other superhumans. Most of those that escaped became Darkseid's subjects, but some found refuge on other worlds.

A few weeks ago Lex Luthor, now one of Darkseid's best scientists, secretly contacted several of the descendants of these refugees and asked them to meet him at a specific location on Earth.

There he told them his plan. He had built a time machine where Metropolis's Central Park used to be, as it sent you back to the same geographical location, and planned to send them back to just before Darkseid's invasion with information the heroes and villains could use to fight back and hopefully defeat it. He chose the descendants because he needed people he could trust, but who didn't already exist in that time period, hoping to minimize the butterfly effect.

Luthor has a backup plan, but hopefully he won't have to use it.
