Name: Haruma Gotou (後藤 悠真)
Nickname/Alias: Haru-Kun (Friends/family), Lucky (Classmates/Clients)
Age: 18
Gender: Male
Appearance: Haruma is 5'9, 160 pounds, and possesses a rather bland appearance - he typically is dressed in his school uniform, and the only other clothes he owns are dress clothes and formal-casual attire. He typically tries to make his voice sound cooler than it really is, and puts a great deal of effort into his hygiene. His most noticeable characteristic is that the path he walks is usually cleared before he takes a step - rocks are swept to the side, bills and coins find their way to his hand, and falling objects narrowly avoid hitting him.
Biography: Haruma lived his entire life inside of Academy city - his parents were a pair of delinquents who didn't take their schooling very seriously. After his father was expelled from high school, and his mother dropped out, Haruma was born - neither of his parents could keep a steady job, and spending a night without food was not uncommon. He never really acted up, and was a normal, B-student most of his life, until his third year of primary school - after staying back to help his teacher clean the classroom, he was given a crisp 500 yen bill. On the way home, he used this bill to buy his first
real possession. Upon eating the Lemon Cupcake, he realized that there was only one way to truly live.
Anywhere but in the throes of squalor.
Haruma continued to do mediocrely in school, but he did everything he could to earn the slightest bit of spending money - he worked whatever jobs he could, he offered to do some of the janitorial work for only a few hundred yen, and he regularly scavenged for useful items that he could use rather than simply buy new ones - this led to a slight hoarding problem. Every single yen he earned, Haruma hid in his mattress, preparing for the day he could open his own bank account, stash it all away, and move out. His father passed away when he was 13 years old, but by this time, his mother had gotten a steady full-time job as a waitress.
Upon entering Noriaki North High School, Haruma successfully managed to increase his esper power to level three - while he knew he had a power before, it was too weak at level 2 to have any real effect on his life - occasionally helping him avoid stepping in garbage or moving his hand towards the right answers on tests. When the coins started to roll towards him, Haruma finally realized that maybe esper powers were more important than he gave them credit for.
With his power providing a steady income, subsidized by his part time job, Haruma achieved his dream and moved out at the age of 15, moving into one of the many student dorms that littered district 7. It was small, but it was his. And cheap - that was the best feature. Since then, Haruma had continued his habit of making money, investing it into the stock market, or simply saving it. His largest purchase had been his truck, which he is quite fond of, and uses very often to collect the lost bills and coins from the city.
Now, at the age of 18 and in his final year of high school, Haruma simply wants to gather as much wealth as he can, so he doesn't need to end up in a similar place to what he grew up in.
Personality:Haruma is a smooth talking, scummy, and greedy person. He does his best to weasel the most out of people whenever possible, particularly when it comes to finding lost items such as keys. He is manipulative, and while he is very insistent on always keeping his word, he has no problems whatsoever with using details and specifics to get things his way. He rarely works for nothing, years of labor having taught him the value of a helping hand, and he is keen on keeping to his own interests. He is somewhat overzealous while thinking of plans and ways to solve a problem more efficiently. One of the characteristics that he prides himself on is his cowardice - or, as he calls it, his "Survival instinct."
Still, despite being a scumbag, Haruma has a soft spot in his heart for people who are willing to make the first kind move. He rarely explicitly states his friendships or people he holds dear, instead showing his affection by doing work for free or by buying a gift or lunch. He only really mentions his truthfulness, but Haruma does have a set of principles he follows very closely - never tell a lie, always offer help when needed (at a price), and to never leave someone unsatisfied or upset if he can help it. These principles have cause him, on several occasions, to help complete strangers who were desperate for no charge at all. He refuses to tell anyone this, however.
Haruma cares a great deal about appearances and he will try to look happy, well-off, and generally positive under any circumstance - this is mostly due to his upbringing in poor, unpleasant conditions. Speaking of unpleasant, Haruma has a mild case of hoarding, and anything that costs more than a few dollars is generally kept in a cabinet or box 'just in case.'
His favorite food is Lemon-flavored cake.
Esper Power: Subconscious Telekinesis - Level 3
Haruma subconsciously uses telekinesis to alter his surroundings within a 500 meter radius, doing it's best to satisfy his desires and goals. It can use up to 10 pounds of force at one time within the radius, but this can be split in multiple places to allow multiple tasks at one time. Haruma's power tries to defend him in any situation, but otherwise, it is mostly bound by his desires at that time.
Subconscious Telekinesis is, as the name implies, completely indirect - it can only vaguely follows what Haruma wants at that time (He can basically decide what he wants his power to do, but his subconscious controls all the details and fine movements, making subtlety and dexterous use of his power impossible). This means that, while it can be used in combat, it is similar to weak, blind punches rather than concentrated attacks. Additionally, it is ridiculously weak in terms of raw power, making it mostly only useful for day-to-day life.
Due to the large range and passive nature of his power, Haruma possesses a massive AIM diffusion field, which has little benefit other than making AIM resonance possible at much further ranges and detecting other telekinetics easier.
Skills: Haruma's most notable skill is his proficiency behind the wheel of most vehicles - ironic considering he doesn't know how to ride a bike. Haruma is also good at basic survival and budgeting, AKA, being an adult. Considering he has had to live alone for several years, this is an expected trait to possess. Other than this, he is very perceptive to details, and while he may sometimes miss the big picture, small changes and movement rarely fail to be caught in his eye. Finally, he is a fairly smooth talker, able to twist his words to the point where he "isn't really lying" so he doesn't break his personal code too often.
Ambition: Haruma's goal is to become rich enough that he will never have to spend another day in squalor - and that no matter what happens, he'd be able to keep friends from similar conditions. To this end, Haruma's goals merely extend to generating more wealth for himself - whether that be from using the stock market, starting his own business, or finding a well paying job. While this would be extremely easy if he simply used his power to steal anything, his strict principles keep him from stealing. If he did, he'd be no better than the filthy people that lined the streets.
While his power currently provides enough wealth to keep him well-off, Haruma's primary goal is to increase in level, preferably to the point where his power can start dragging in lost bills and coins from across the whole city. By then, he'd hopefully have raised his grades to get a good job, or at the very least have found a good company to invest into.
Extra: Haruma sends around a fourth of the money he earns to his mother at the end of every month.
Absolutely hates bugs - the mere mention causes his power to stop what it's doing and start killing insects within his range. At the very least, this could make him an excellent exterminator.
Has never actually experienced abuse or homelessness - his hatred for poverty is mostly a fear of true lack of wealth rather than anything done to him in his childhood.
Regularly is hired by classmates to find important lost items, such as keys, wallets, assignments, and credit cards. He never takes anything he finds, and is always quick to start looking.
