Ryland woke up rather early that morning, remembering that Chiron had wanted him to be ready to start as an orientation leader for any newbies who may arrive, and remembering that one was coming on that day. Although it seemed he had woken up entirely
too early as when he looked outside the sun was just barely rising. Letting out a small grown, he looked towards the statue of his father that loomed in the cabin and seemed to be watching him at all times.
"Couldn't like, be a helpful alarm clock so I get used to sleeping in, huh pops?" The boy muttered even though he knew the stone would not answer in return. Groaning in complaint as he rolled out of bed, the son of Zeus decided to go for a simple combination of shorts and camp t-shirt for the day. No need for much else. With that out of the way, Ryland set out to start his day a bit early by heading out to the arena. Wanting to make sure that things were in order for the later training class that he would have to be teaching. Humming to himself as he walked, Ryland was certainly rather enjoying the summer morning air, especially since it hadn't had time to get hot and humid yet in the day. For now, it was simply nice and cool thanks to the air rolling in off of the lake.
Arriving at the arena, Ryland was pleased to see that nobody had messed with how he had organized the dummies and weapons which he would be teaching with later that day. Usually, he half expected that one of the Hermes kids would come by to play a prank, or the Ares kids would try to steal some just to spite him after their latest embarrassment during capture the flag. With a small shrug and a sigh he still went through to closely inspect each weapon and make sure it was up to par. The process including making a few slashes with a sword here, a couple of stabs from a spear there, and the likes with each weapon. The process taking him quite a few hours until nearly when he had to be up at the hill to meet their newest camper. As he finished with the last one, the boy set it back in its place and began briskly making his way up and out of the arena. Making his way briskly across the camp, Ryland called out a few friendly greetings to those he passed as they all got up for the day and started going about their daily routines. It wouldn't be long before he arrived at the hill, deciding to lean against the tree while he waited for Miss Kiera Donovan to show up.
Wonder who's kid she will be? He mused to himself, almost wondering if perhaps another big three or powerful demigod was going to show up on that day. Maybe that was why Chiron had been adamant he start that day? He wasn't sure, and it didn't matter for now.
Atop Half-Blood hill, a blonde boy waited leaning against the pine tree for the newcomer. He looked like your average 15 year old, nothing out of place about his camp t-shirt, jeans, or even the bead necklace around his neck. As the girl grew close, Ryland pushed off from the tree and gave the girl a small wave.
"Welcome to Camp Half-Blood." He started with a kind, relaxed smile that had something charming about it.
"Kiera Donovan, I take it? I'm Ryland Astrapí, Chiron asked me to welcome you to camp today." He said in a relaxed manner as he turned to look back towards the valley that housed the camp.
"You'll meet him later, but first I take it you'll wanna get settled in and have a little tour of the camp. Get to see whats up, no? Also, feel free to throw any questions you have my way as soon as they come up." He said once more and gestured for the girl to follow him as he set out into camp. Making his way first towards the Hermes cabin where she would be staying until her parent claimed her. Judging by the woman he had noticed down by the car, Ryland felt like he could safely assume it was on the Gods who would be claiming her.
"We'll get you set up first in Hermes Cabin, they welcome all our newcomers until your parent claims you. Buncha friendly folk, but word of advice, keep a close eye on your stuff." He explained as they walked towards the array of cabins fixated within the Valley.
