Hi folks. I have a concept for a post apocalyptic horror scenario complete with a character below that I’m looking to play in said game. Would there be anyone interested in the concept presented below? If so let me know and if there’s enough interest I’ll get this going a bit more formally.

I’m just trying to get back into things a little bit following some IRL drama and am looking for something low-key to ease myself back in. Something small and personal like a game with 2-3 others which is what I’m aiming for here.

Ideally I’m looking for people who are strong writers with strong characterisation skills who are willing to develop their character and the world around with us.

My character concept for the game and example CS. Please note that I don’t expect applications in this format quite yet, I’m just looking for confirmation of interest.

A sample of my writing and an introduction to the character.

I was there when the end came. I saw it with my own eyes as friend fell upon friend and kin killed kin. The savagery and bloodlust was beyond anything I had ever seen before. To see family members......close friends tear strips of flesh from their bodies.....pluck their own eyes out. That was just the start.

Tired eyes echo tired lives
we've worked ourselves to the bone each night,
just to keep ourselves
crawling back inside.
Fingernails are broken down,
our limbs are torn out,
hearts are crowned
with the sorrow of a decade of decay.

Our waxen wings have let us down again,
like Icarus we flew into the sun.
The pride in our eyes
was our only disguise,
and now we lie here
broken and alone
.

It is the year 2018. Seattle, in the year 2018. Everything we once knew has turned to dust. The city has fallen into dilapidated ruin. Outside, in the blood-stained streets, the feral dead roam. They look for anything and anyone that is not like them. And when they catch them, they feast. They skin their victims alive. Hack them to pieces. Feast on their blood.

As they do, whispered shadows echo in their rotted minds. They have come to inherit the earth and we......we remaining people, we fight a losing battle. Each and every day we try to delay the inevitable.

Our extinction.

Those who survive an encounter with these rotting, primal creatures -- these walking husks of dead flesh, may face an even worse fate than if they had been destroyed. A single bite, a single scratch carries with it the risk of infection. That, over the course of hours, days or weeks, these "survivors" rot away from the inside. And as their vital organs turn into nothing more than decaying, useless slabs of dead meat, as their brains turn black from infection, they too turn into something far, far worse. And as they eventually, inevitably die in writhing, painful agony, they come back again. They rise as one of these desiccated, shambling corpses and they turn on their fellows. Thus the end of the world propagates itself, and the survivors wage a battle that they have no real chance of winning.

We have lost the streets. Yet here, trapped inside this concrete ruin, some of us remain, caged like mice.

My name is Cain. I am trapped within a high-rise apartment and forced to witness firsthand the death of Seattle. Every day is an uphill struggle to survive.

The dead haven't found me yet, and indeed they cannot get to me. The door to the apartment is barricaded by all the loose furniture, cabinets and units that we could use to block the door off. I spend my days trapped here, looking outside down on the shattered streets below. There, I see these broken, empty husks roaming around the world beneath us. They are not shambling, clumsy creatures that you would expect the living, decaying dead to be. They are fast. They are relentless. They are without fear. They will sacrifice themselves, destroy their bodies if need be to take down another victim. Their pack mentality makes them truly deadly. I have seen other foolish people brave the streets in the daytime. They were torn apart within seconds. Being out there....alone, is suicide.

They are worse at night. Faster. Stronger. Unstoppable. One of them alone could take down a well-armed group. A group of them......nothing can stop them.

Nothing.

Sometimes I go out onto the balcony. And I watch the doom continue to unfold below us.

My food and water supplies continue to dwindle. They are running dangerously low. Soon, I will have to venture outside once more in a desperate attempt to forage more.

Up here, hope is fading. Yet, as bad as things are, they are far worse out there.

And one more....

Katy. Her name was Katy.

His first waking moments of consciousness was the sound of screaming. For brief seconds, as his eyes blurred into focus and he recognised the sounds for what they were, they sent a cold, icy shiver up and down his spine. Some poor bastard out had tried to run the streets alone.

And then, seconds after waking, reality kicked in.....hard.

Groaning slightly, Cain threw aside the cover, and the chill of the air bit into his warm flesh. Shivering, Cain rubbed his hands up and down his arms, and the hairs on his exposed torso stood on end. His head hurt......a biting, stabbing pain that sent needles of hurt down the back of his neck. As he attempted to stand, a sudden rush of nausea overwhelmed him. Turning to the side, he coughed up whatever vomit he still had inside of him. The days were a struggle. Each one progressively so.

Staggering to the corner of the room, Cain knelt, as the vision suddenly hit him hard.

They came more and more frequently these days.....

Her name was Katy Reynolds, and in this messed up world, she was the only person that I ever came to love.

Cain remembered. He remembered the first moments of the apocalypse. The world dying in front of his eyes as he fled the only home he had ever known. That was the day he met Katy. Two desperate survivors trying to hang on to whatever remnants they still had of the world that they had once known.

He remembered the time they had spent together, the time that they had spent getting to know each other. Distrust and paranoia at first, to be replaced by mutual respect and friendship, to finally be replaced by.....something else. It was strange that, for as long as he had tried to cast off the shackles of his past before, to try and know true friendship, love even, that here, as the world was in its death throes, he had begun to find that. Over time, he might have even begun to see the first shoots of recovery from the excesses of the life before.

Like all things though, nothing lasted forever.......

***

The visions passed, and Cain breathed a shuddering breath as he clenched his fist, sobbing softly at the sudden onset of the terrible, terrible pain that assaulted him.

"I miss you Katy."

Cain smiled softly, bringing his own hand up to touch his face, running his fingers over his still smooth, youthful skin, knowing as he did so that all things in this world would eventually wither and die. Even him.

"Soon, Katy, soon."

Standing slowly and tentatively, Cain stopped for a moment to smooth the stray strands of his hair. Reaching down, he picked up his black, long sleeved shirt. Fastening the belt on his dark breeches, he put his arms through the silken shirt and buttoned it up. Finally, smoothing over the collar, he walked slowly to the door of the room he slept in and opened it, stepping through.

The room beyond would once have been termed a "living room", at least in the world before. The wooden door that was the exit to the apartment block was barricaded by a faux-leather suite, a cabinet and a TV unit, complete with unplugged television. The room itself was carpeted, though the grey carpets hadn't been cleaned in a long while and were stained in some places with a faint, reddish colour. Cain could make a guess as to what that reddish colour signified. The walls were painted cream, and on the floor at the far side of the square, equally proportioned room was a vase, tipped over with the flower stalks within long dead. A sliding compartment door at the end of the room led onto a balcony outside. It was still dark outside, but Cain didn't care as he sat on the floor. He had long ago lost track of time in this shattered world.

Two doors on the far side of the room led off into other sleeping rooms, whilst on his side there were three doors. One leading to his room, a second leading to a converted sleeping area and a third leading into a kitchen area. His stocks were running dangerously low. Sooner or later he would have to go out on a supply run.

He resisted the temptation to open the sliding door and go out to see which foolish bastard had gotten themselves killed outside.

I shall include my interest. I'm new to the forum, but I've been roleplaying for 15 years now, both freeform and tabletop.
