I see no reason why you can't show up with a tank or fighter-jet. -Aside from the possibility of being sidelined for a mission or two.
Dedicated starfighters, however, are not particularily viable; since capital-ships and assualt-transports would usually fullfill those tactical needs. While other mechs would be quite capable of also performing boarding-operations at the same time.
But you are welcome to try. -That is to say they likely do exist and perform their duties quite well, but usually perform a very limited role.
tl;dr: It'd be like room-clearing with a [nuclear] bazooka, probably not a good idea but I'd love to see it happen.
Kind of want to make a scientist that safeguards genetic data, but he himself is a brain in a jar.... basically he plugs into synthetic bodies and mech suits.

Can we expect a healthy supply of corny 80's one-liners?
Personality: I'm just here to say that, no, she is not a prostitute, or any type of sex worker like your stereotypical succubus. Quite frankly, she is not your run-off-the-mill nymphomaniac succubus. Sure, she's no virgin, but she is significantly stiff and conservative enough to be considered a saint by succubus standards.
Mech: Callsign: Leysritt | Type: Transformable Mobile Suit
Personality: Aloof and quiet because of her species' typical upbringing, living high up amidst the clouds away from civilization, Eileen is a smart young lady who doesn't say much. Even when she does speak, she tends to hide her emotions and sometimes not even say what exactly is on her mind. She's a bit of a tough nut to crack, both in terms of a person and as a pilot.
Mech: Callsign: Ryusei | Type: Transformable Mobile Suit
Loadout/Abilities: WIP
Writing Preference: Casual
Edit: Pardon me saying "Amelia" in the personality segment and not Eileen; Amelia was the first name I had in mind for her, Eileen was the one I settled with. A cookie for you if you get the reasoning behind either name.
Pilot: Name: Dr. Rei Osborne | Race: Brain / Slime
Appearance:
Whats left of him
Encounter / Harvester Form - Ray
Personality: Dr. Rei has long since died but has kept himself, or atleast his personality intact using various methods, from brain wavelength data storage, to AI incorporation, to as he is today, a cybernetic brain attached to a synaptic feedback controlled robot. He still demands respect regardless of his form as he is one of the oldest living minds that had survived the outbreak. He sees himself as the last guardian of mankind's pure genetic makeup and has since been the architect of numerous sub-species hybridizations and he does not mess around when it comes to safeguarding that data. He acts more a military commander than a scientist, blunt, to the point and seeminly very cold, calculating, and without any kind of warmth, but that is mostly because the current situation weighs heavy on his head. The stress is affecting him psychologically. Most of the time he is seen as everyone's grumpy grandpa.
He has been experimenting with a type of bioelectrical gelatin that allows for his nerves to form motor and sensory control nodes with compatible systems. While, android bodies proved to be useful temporary housing, he currently uses the body of a slime he affectionately calls Ray (totally not confusing) She is as dumb as a post, barely being able to speak for herself, but the doctor keeps her as a pet and laboratory assistant. At times, the doctor can completely overwhelm her own fluid biology through the gelatin control network and thus use her as a way of moving around, and interaction, making Ray almost a type of android body for him to control. He also uses her natural biological adaptations to acquire more genetic samples and material from living and dead subjects. It has been rumored that Rei uses her as a type of xenobiological womb for new hybrid children. Its a wonder she doesn't just digest them, but apparently Dr. Rei has effectively changed her biology to be something quite different from a typical green slime. What exactly, he jealously safeguards.
Mech: Callsign: Shoggoth aka Squidy | Type: Mobile Robotic Carapace
Pilot: Name: Caellys Nulla | Race: Harpy Appearance: Caellys is a medium-sized, skinny individual. She has short, orange-red hair. She's usually smiling, often sinisterly, which reveals her surprisingly large fangs. (they aren't massive, but for being a bird, it's surprising she has any.) Her arms are absent, replaced completely by her large, green, feathery wings, each of which could span her entire height. Her legs are feathery and terminate in raptor-talons, and with strength comparable to the real thing, she can bend steel rods with a bit of effort. Do to her hands being feathery wings, she uses her feet for anything needing precision. The feathery bits of her extend far enough to cover anything that would need to be covered, but she usually wears clothes, most often a militaristic jumpsuit, since not doing so tend to make people uncomfortable.
((Such a description apparently does not match a picture on the internet that I could find, and my own abilities wouldn't do her justice))
Personality: Caellys is an energetic, hot-headed, upbeat individual who enjoys any kind of fighting, whether it be hand-to-tallon combat or a mecha brawl. She's violently protective of anyone she considers her friends. She also eats a lot, which surprisingly does not seem to affect her build or her ability to fly for short distances. Despite being a bird, she generally prefers the ground over the air, both for fighting and for her everyday life. (which mostly consists of fighting) While she's not particularly stupid, her behavior would make one think she is.
Mech: Callsign: Thunder Arbalest | Type: Mobile Heavy Weapons Platform (medium size) Appearance:
Loadout/abilities: WIP, but I got a bit already: Thunder Arbalest: The main weapon, (as you might have guessed from being the one it's named after) and it's big one on top. It emits a powerful plasma beam, and it can use it's ammo to either shoot a high-temperature beam, an electrified beam, or a high-impact slug. While it's primary for long-ranged battles, it can move 90 degrees upwards and 45 degrees to the side in either direction and it can do so quickly enough for somewhat-awkward (but never the less viable) mid-ranged fighting.
Secondary Weapons: WIP.
While not immediately obvious, it does have thrusters. They are mostly for relocating itself, getting to and from stations and what not.
It's legs are it's fastest, most versatile form of locomotion. It can make short jumps in whatever direction to dodge projectiles, run up to 60 miles per hour in earth-like gravity, and when necessary, kick targets down.
Abilities TL;DR: Made for long-ranged combat, but can hold its own in anything else.

Well, here is what I got so far.
I think Eileen already has a foil (or vice versa). Perfect.
