I habitually prefer to keep to corners and avoid large open spaces. Woodland is preferable to purely open ground, in example, and I skirt the edges of large rooms, better still those nearest exits. There is something innately unsettling about the alternative and I am not sure how people can comfortably exist in them.

I somehow manage to be afraid of small spaces and large open spaces... I'm perfect in-between. In small spaces my anxiety acts up intensely to the point I feel like I can't breathe meanwhile in large open spaces like woods I feel like something is watching me though large spaces aren't as bad as small spaces.

This is called, "Moving Tactically" coupled with being aware of all exits and situational awareness.

You would be correct, @Gunther, although to me it is far, far more strange that people are not intrinsically aware of this.

That, and the "spacial awareness" of most people these days is much less than it was thanks to being enveloped by handheld electronic devices. For instance, I ride the train to and from work every day and you'll be surprised how many people have either missed/almost missed their stop because they were enthralled by their phones.

This I have bore witness to as well, @Rawk, so there is even more substance to @Gunther's claim. A related fact is, is that I find people generally concerned with things that are not relevant, say media and pop culture, rather than anything fundamentally important and worth actually knowing. Some take these things alarmingly more serious and in-depth than they do facets of their livelihood, such as their occupation.

I once got a week’s worth of lunch detention for running across the playground.

But, I have no doubt, @Gunther, that it was quite severe...

The only time I ever had detention was because the whole class was punished. Something to do with gum, and no one came forward so the teacher gave the entire class detention. This was in middle school too.

Actually, nearly everytime I've been handed some sort of punishment, either at school or at work, has been because I was part of that group.

The only detention I ever had was from me being late to school too many times back when I was homeless and living with my entire family in a single bedroom. Had to spend two hours on Saturday sitting in the Study Hall room, and while we weren't allowed to sleep, somehow I managed to sneak by the teacher and slept through most of it. I had no clue I dozed off either until we were given a momentary break to get a drink or use the bathroom.

I spent the majority of my time in the public education system detained in some way or another. Needless to say, I am not fond of the system, rather I developed a sense of appreciation for those few who put me to good use while I was in it. I ultimately came to have actual tutors and mentors through that circumstance, rather just teachers.

I've only had detention in 3rd grade which forced me to sit in a small white room and due late homework through lunch and recess... also the cause of my claustrophobia

I was a "desk carver" back in the day, which landed me in detention as well as a few lashes once I got home.

Needless to say, detention was way more hospitable.

I prefer the flavor of vanilla to chocolate, which is equated by some to heresy. This unusual stance is also coming from an individual who hasn't much a, to the surprise of none, taste for sweet. There is such a thing as too sweet and the majority of sweets I find to be "too sweet", as if someone felt possessed of the need to triple the sugar content for the sake of making it appealing.

I love mint chocolate chip ice cream and double strawberry ice cream. Even if there was a foot of snow outside I'd eat wither of those two flavors.
