I really hope my unease around kids changes for me with my own. Everyone tells me it will be different. I just hope they're right XD

Coming in a bit late to this party, but as a dad with three girls (9-12 range), I'd have to say, yes, it's a hell of a lot different when they are yours. Sure, they'll sass you, challenge you at every turn, and essentially try to hack their way through a good part of their responsibilities. But after the chaos settles and you all have a chance to sit down together as a family, it's worth the anguish.

Of course I'm still waiting for that day when they finally say: "You were right, dad."

That may take a few decades more, @Rawk. I have reason to suspect you were already aware of this however, so I wish you well in awaiting it.

@Rawk aww ♡ yeah, I've heard that often. But I still wonder. It's good to have it confirmed.
I'm hoping for not too much sass. I was a mild teen. I only pitched fits at my brother. Always enjoyed my parents and never acted out. My husband, too.
But what are the chances life is that just? Hahaha.

I will likely not have kids for many years. I'm just not the dad type yet. Then again, I also need to actually find a girl I'm willing to share life with.

The sizable cat, in midst of hug, gives a low idle snarl and the slightest flicks of its bobbed tail. It is clear it is unsure whether to retaliate or appreciate the gesture, as one forepaw is lifted several inches from the ground while the sabertooth's jowls too were pulled, although in a distinctive feline grimace.

I tend to be more fatherly than "dad-like", which I am not so certain is a positive thing anymore with the way people expect life to be structured now.

I'm a good auntie. Mostly because I lived abroad and sent fun little foreign trinkets.
Now i'm the cool aunt because my nieces and nephew all like the same stuff I do. Totoro, Harry Potter, Minecraft, etc, so I send them what I like and they love it.

Granted, I'm not fantastic because of a lack of actual interaction, but thats kind of hard to do when you live so far apart.
Which is changing! My sister will move here for a few years and I'll have more time to spend with her and her kids. ...just not with her husband. cause no.

-hugs @Michellin-

We received snow as well off of the range here and over the course of two days. Being alongside said mountains too means that this snow has all but come to thaw already under the blinding rays of the sun. It went as quickly as it came, which is disappointing. I could do with a few days of nothing but snowfall.

Snow is my favourite. The world gets so white and quiet. There's now about a foot outside, and tons of things around town are closed. <3 Its lovely.

we may get more snow soon! Which is delightful, cause our snow is melting.

Also the nearby military base is blowing stuff up. We hear big, house-shaking booms, then hear a jet fly over us.
unnerving to wake up to.

That seems stable and consistent, meaningful too I would note as well. The Lin's of occupation that requires attention and has a direct effect on a consumer.

There too had been snow here, several inches at that. Of course, being the dry, powdered kind, the rapid winds that whipped up not long after which had brought the storm to us in the first place shuffled the flurries and flakes right on out. I went to rest for the day with several inches of snow, creeping toward near half a foot, and awoke to find it had almost all blown away, @Carantathraiel. Quite disappointing, really, I would say.

Phew, sorry for the absence, bit of a long weekend.

Its far below freezing here, I have a giant ice puddle in the back yard where the rain settled. Its nice, because now my dogs aren't tracking in mud each time they go outside.
But now the littlest one is refusing to go out willingly for more than 2 ish minutes. He hates the cold.

That sounds much like the majority of people I encounter. The cold is a common complaint and they will do anything to avoid being out in it. Yet, these people can wear layers - they live in a place that expects as much - why not just do that rather than go full on to either extreme? This cannot even be done in hot or warm weather.
