A concept I’ve been juggling for some time now; sci-fi pirates. Our story follows the adventurous tale of a crew of swashbucklers in a science fiction universe. How they rise from common rogues to establish a criminal empire in the uncharted reaches of space, far from the reach of the Union and it’s influences. Players will create their own unique character and ride the depths of space aboard a mighty starship, pillaging and plundering, for wealth and debauchery and to a life free of nobility and law.
Our characters will face success and failure, accomplish much and lose more, and will face both tragedy and glory. Mind you this is still a concept, and there is still work to be done. For me that is. Feel free to ask any and all questions, and please read below where I have listed some ideas and outlines for the RP.
Overall Setting: The Nitheim Sector, a chain of lesser worlds and planetoids, sparsely charted with practically no Union presence. Inhabited mostly by primitive alien races, pirate clans, independent mining companies, and “frontier colonies”. A sort of galactic “Wild West”.
The Galan Rim Union: A large democratic republic (more of a bureaucracy) that is made up of many star systems and hundreds of worlds. Diplomatic in general though greedy and expansive. The Union holds minuscule presence in the Nitheim Sector at current, though many expect that to soon drastically change.
The Jaldari Dominion: An expansionist mono-cultural and mono-racial empire of ape-like humanoids who expand by force and enslave or purge any alien races or cultures they cross. They too hold little presence in the Nitheim Sector. Due to change of course.
Players will create their own unique character as part of the ship’s crew. The ship (unnamed still) will not be large, and will be more of a brig or corvette class starship. Player characters must be of a humanoid race (as long as it has two legs, arms, and one head, I’m good) and cannot have any kind of supernatural powers or abilities, such as telekinesis or invisibility. Weapons must be of laser, plasma, or slug round, and please nothing of majorily heavy caliber. No mini-nukes or ten-by-forty rail guns. Let’s keep things fair.

Honestly, now that I think of it, playing an AI would be cool. :P But considering we can only play Humanoid races, I suppose that's out of the question. ;3
