Twenty years ago the town of Rebirth, Kansas was founded by a few thousand people who dreamed of a place where everyone, powers or not, regardless of genetics, could live together in harmony. It's a fairly average town. They celebrate Christmas, Thanksgiving, and even the nations Birth-day. Once a year since the town's founding, on July 4th, the town gathers together for a massive barbecue at which the town's newest citizens, twenty newborns, are introduced to the rest of the town, given their Birth name, and given to their new parents. All of these Birth-day children are special in some way, and most of them have powers.

---

Tony Karts, 17, walked down the street at 9 PM, having spent the last several hours in the high school's machine lab working out some of the kinks in the exoskeleton suit he was working on. A few more nights of work and it should be ready for its first test drive. As he approached his house, though, he heard movement in the tree above him. Looking up, he noticed his next door neighbor hiding up there with a pair of binoculars. "Kurt" he said at a normal voice, but in the quiet of the night Kurt was startled by the the sound and lost his footing.

There was a puff of acrid black smoke in front of Tony and a blue kid appeared there. "Oh, uh, hey Tony."

"You're peeping on Clarice again, aren't you?" Tony asked. "I thought we talked about this. You can't go around creeping on girls."

"Yeah, I know but Clarice is... well you know. Purple girls are hot."

"Dude," Tony said, shaking his head, "I told you, she's 17 like me. You're 15. She'd never date you, and creeping on her's just wrong man. You do realize that if you're caught Sheriff Wilson's going to throw you in jail and have you cleaning the jail with a toothbrush." Kurt nodded. "Besides, I gave you a reason not to. Did you talk to Hank?"

"Yeah, he got me into the adult server, but the women in the archive... well, there aren't a lot of mutants."

"Hey, I don't know what else I can do. You've got to quit."

"I do." said Kurt. "You can get me through the Firewall."

"You mean the town's firewall? No way. You know we aren't allowed to contact the outside. Only the Adults are, since they're from there."

"Yeah, but I overheard the Sheriff mention Outside sites to Barber John."

Tony sighed. "Fine, but you've got to swear to me that you're done creeping on girls. All Girls. Understand?"

Kurt hesitated, but soon nodded. "Fine. I Swear. Write a program to get me through to the outside 'net, and you have my word I'll stop being a creep."

Tony nodded. "Now, you might want to go home before Clarice looks out her window."

A few days later Tony entered the last few lines into the code and compiled the program. He'd tried to works his way through the firewall on his own, but the firewall adapted and closed the holes faster than he could find them. He needed to create a program to find the holes in the wall for him and exploit them. Now that program was complete.

He loaded the Open Door app onto his cell phone and activated it. Soon the program told him that it was through the wall and he opened up his browser. Might as well test it, he thought, opening up Google, the one Outside site he could remember, and typing in what he was searching for. M. U. T. A. N. T.

The search autocompleted and he was shocked by what it suggested. 'Mutant terrorist. Mutant terrorism. Mutants aren't people. Mutant X Gene.' were all the top suggestions. Curious he searched for the first one and clicked on a news article.

"Are the X men terrorists?" it said, and at the top of the article, which detailed a battle between two groups called "the Brotherhood" and "the X-Men" was a picture of Kurt, only much older and wearing some sort of armor or uniform, possibly both.

The "Birth-Day Children" are clones of special people. They just didn't know that until now, and now that they've discovered that fact their worlds are about to come crashing down.

We are those children.

---

Basic Rules:
1) Don't be a dick to other players. Keep it civil. This includes Godmoding.
2) Most of the characters won't be 18+, but if you are playing one and want to do 18+ actions, take it to PMs.
3) I'm responsible for keeping this RP on track and making sure characters follow the rules, so I guess that means I'm in charge. I'll try to work things out with you, so if you have a problem with the RP or need a ruling on lore or something similar, just ask me and we'll figure something else. If you are breaking the rules, though, I may have to put my foot down at some point.
4) If someone isn't responding to you, give them at least 5 days to respond before skipping them. If they haven't responded by then, and they won't respond OOC either, you can skip them.
5) Try to post at least a paragraph or two per week, but don't doublepost.
6) If you understand and have read these rules, good for you. You are actually the kind of player we need for this RP to work. If you haven't read the rules, then I guess you aren't reading this and will need to read them eventually, when you accidentally break one.

Sweet, I think I've found what character my OC will be a clone of. Do we post the character sheet in OOC for you to look at first or just directly into characters?

Just post it here and I'll look it over.

Sandbox. I have a backstory for the town planned, but I'll try not to force events to happen. Things will happen because as a result of player actions, and I'll adapt to what the players choose to do.

If anyone wants to, feel free to make your character's adoptive parents be minor or unknown mutants. They probably would have recruited several mutant and/or super couples to join the town when it was founded, and accepted a few more over the years. Bob the Fish man and his wife Harriett the firespitter wouldnt be unusual.

Thank you. I will not be involving myself, but only because I lack the time to commit to a sandbox-style RP. Have fun, everyone! it sounds like a really intriguing premise!

@AbillioncatsI like it. The Name's fine, too.

I like that her mutation is slightly different, too. If no one decided to play her, I was going to say that Clarice's original (Blink) wasn't entirely purple either, and just had the purple line over her eye.

Cool, I'll throw it in the characters tab then.

I'm curious about the Last name thing, the children don't take the last names of their adoptive parents? That's what usually happens when you're adopted I think.

@Abillioncatsusually, and some times they do that here too, with the kid's original last name being a middle name, but the name is basically there to let the people who know about the outside world identify who the kid is a clone of. Everyone in town that's from the outside would immediately know that "Eric Sherrlen" was a Magneto clone, even if they never met them.

I have a question. Is it possible for kids to have a form of cloned fusion? Like if the scientists responsible did some form of experimentation? I'm asking mostly because I'm going for an Angel clone, but one that could change his wings from metal to organic in a Colossus sort of way.

You could be a binary clone of Angel and Colossus, and get a combination of their powers. Once you're already creating clones, combining two sets of DNA into one isn't that big of a deal.

I'm not sure I'd allow it for two powerful people, but those two powers aren't super powerful on their own.

Maybe the super strength could be part of it too, but to a lesser degree. Full Colossus plus wings might be a bit much.

Working on a CS.

Potentially a Jessica Drew clone... possibly with a lil' Eddie Brock mixed in (gee, why would I ever do that)...

I have a few questions, first, can we make the clone the opposite gender? I know that's not how cloning works but what's the fun in roleplay if we can't screw around with the way the world works a little bit? However, I do understand if you decide not to allow this.
Second, Is this drawing from the MCU or all of marvel cannon?
Third? Do they need to be characters with powers? Since Tony Stark doesn't have any powers, I'm wondering.
And lastly, would you prefer them to be more obscure characters or are members of the avengers and such alright?

@WiccanRose15opposite gender's fine, sense they did that with Wolverine and X23 in cannon anyway. Any marvel character is fine, as long as they aren't OP and can be cloned (ie: no robots. Venom could be cloned, though.)
No powers is fine.
Obsure or popular doesnt really matter, as these are clones and not the originals. If you name their parents, though, they should be obscure/minor though so that people can play the more populat characters if they want. For example, Tony's mom was a minor xmen character that was mostly just their doctor, and his dad is Hydra bob.

@EldarionIPoat it here so that I can look it pver first.

@ViraniTechnically you could be a child, but I don't think anyone would want to play a 4 YO Jubilee. The oldest are 19 YO, 20 in a few weeks.

So, 14 or 15 to 20 would be fine. the 17 YO group appears to be the most common, though.
