I have no idea how to find a 3d picture or how to post it on this website T_T

I think by 3D picture they simply mean finding a picture that shows a 3D model of what your character will be? For instance, as an example if I wanted to use a character from Rainbow Six Siege, I'd need to find a picture of their model in-game instead of using something like fanart or portraits. At least, that's how I interpreted it, and I could be wrong.

@Drippy I don’t mean an actual 3D picture but something like a video game character model, something that looks virtual rather than hand drawn.

@Drippy, something like the below. Although while I'd love to use her as the VR avy, obviously it's not an OC:

Stil, my fav character from ME

@Hellion you can if you want. The restrictions only really apply to people like Master Chief

@CaptainSully, oh okay. Good to know. I thought maybe you were looking for original concept character avatars. (Even though our actual characters will all be unique).

@CaptainSully Well if Jack's fine then I should be ok to use Adam from RWBY; figured I'd go full edgelord with my character.

That's why I was asking about character skins vs characters created by the player. Surely someone who is a fan of Mass Effect is going to look at that and recognise Jack? Or are we just ignoring that?

Given the timeframe, they may not be as recognized as we are able to as this is set in the future. In this instance, Jack would be a character initially released roughly 65 years before this RP takes place, as Mass Effect 2 came out in 2010 and this is set in 2075. I'd assume in that jump into the future, tons of new games would be more appealing to use their avatars, so by choosing stuff we recognize now, it may be more unique as they're older game characters.
But the way I saw it, is that there could be plenty of people with that avatar, but it's like Gmod you know? Even though you could be playing with a distinguished character model, it's still you in the end. I assume the avatar is just the appearance, and even if you used an avatar of someone like Jack, you wouldn't have, say, her powers.

The runner up for me would def be this guy, for those of you familiar with WatchDogs.

Actually, I might just use him the more I think about it, since my RL character will be female, so my avy can be male :D

Like art imitating life...or something...

So your virtual character can look however you want as long as it’s a 3D styled render. It can be a famous character or not, unless they have have defining items which could in theory be an in game item (looking at you Master Chief).

Remember a lot of the characters people would be running around as would be characters from games in their time, not from today.

Eyyy I was right, most people would be running around with that generation of game avatars. As for mine, if I find a model I'll like, I'll probably tweak some of the colors a tad so that way it's a bit more unique to me.

@CaptainSully when you say character defining items what exactly do you mean? Using Halo as an example, would a Battle Rifle or an Energy Sword be a rare, character defining item? Or would they be generic and rare items are specific items like the Mjolnir armour?

Yeah, so it's really our character's wearing skins of these avatars, but not actually "being" that character or having their abilities/powers, etc as they would in their respective game.

@King Cosmos battle rifle would be a standard, his armour and the sword would likely be a rare. The sword only because it’s quite powerful from my understanding?

@Hellion perfect way to put it.

Looks cool. Not sure why you'd think having an avatar would give you their powers though. Unless that's a thing in Ready Player One?

Anyway, do we just make up games that characters are from? Because I assume games like Kingdom Hearts and whatnot would be done at this point.

(Although knowing Nomura and other devs, looking at you Bethesda, I doubt it).

@ZAVAZggg I don't think anyone thought the avatar would give you that characters powers.
