Sister Thread

A fair-weathered Autumnal day, a perfect day for any school to open its doors to new arrivals, With the recent new 'revitalisation' in the world renowned game of 'Duel Monsters' a new wave of fully equipped Duel Schools was to be expected. One of these new duel schools was the Mitsuri Campus, and it aims to aid up and coming duelists in fulfilling their dreams, while also offering a curriculum can allow them to diversify into other entertainment districts such as Action duels.

You, for whatever reason, are coming to this campus, perhaps because its new or perhaps its because you failed your application to get into your first choice. The School welcomes you with open arms. So come on duelist. Make your story!

Hello there, and welcome to the interest check for a Yu-Gi-Oh Duel Academy RP set in a universe thats independent from the rest of the canon so it allows a bit more creative freedom, I'm looking for a small group of active players (4-6 (maximum 8 if this gets alot of interest)) that want to be able to rp in the world of Yu-Gi-Oh, and have fun establishing their characters in the craziest only a Duel School can give.

Below are a few important things of note for those of you that are indeed interested

EDIT: Forreal now tho. Here's questions for you.

-4k LP or 8k LP?
-Action duels are a thing, but what about Turbo duels?
-If they are a thing, is it with Speed World Neo or with Speed World / Speed World II + Speed Spells?
-Rulings on anime cards?
-Rulings on custom cards?
-Rulings on manga cards?
-Rulings on IRL- wait...
-What's the technology level like? (e.g. energy disks, lightweight disks with a duel gazer/duel tattoo, bulky disks with built-in hologram projectors ala DM/GX/5D's)

@1Charak2 Just to make sure I'm understanding that new rule properly. As long as you control an extra deck monster in your extra deck zone, you can summon other monsters of the same type that are a lower rank or level than that monster, in any other monster zone?

What happens if the card in your extra deck zone is destroyed? Are all your other extra deck monsters destroyed or returned to the extra deck as well? Or do you move the next highest level monster to that zone?

4k LP (As after some thought it prevents duel length from reaching an absurdity) added it to the OP

Turbo duels are indeed a thing, but they will be played with Neo as the field spell.

Exclusive cards such as Anime/Manga cards will be prohabited

Customs may be allowed but only if there is a significant hankering for them (IE the deck is functionally unplayable without it (dark scorpions anyone?)), so they may be allowed on a case by case bases but not to completely build an archetype from scratch with.

Technology Level is around Arc V, which means the Duel disks are pretty light-weight comparatively. This is due to action duel technology also being present. This doesn't mean that the older duel disk models don't exist. It just means they aren't common. However don't expect any dimension hopping anytime soon.

In the event the monster in your 'Extra deck zone' is destroyed. All that occurs is that you can no longer summon monsters from the extra deck to the main monster zones, until you summon a new monster form the extra deck to take its place. Otherwise your board state remains the same.

Similar to how a Link monster being destroyed won't destroy the monsters it was linked to.

Ok, never played with Links so this will be a learning experience. Might have to do some research before I jump in to this.

Plenty of people dropped out before you. Unfortunately we went months without a post because everyone was writing duels at the same time; kind of a hazard with this kind of RP I guess.

mmmyes. Very much so. I still like that method of doing things (and will probably try to apply it whenever someone also wants to) but it gets to be a problem when everyone duels at the same time.

People need to be more stingy with dueling. Stuff's a lengthy affair.

I did the posty on your other thread before realizing that maybe this one would be more active. Then I realized the question was already answered. Can I posty my deck now to see if it'd be okay?

@Darkmoon Angel

Certainly, Would you like me to review the card on its lonesome or as part of the deck you wish to app.

The latter is a better judge of how fitting for the deck the card would be.

It's more of a standalone card.

Kuri Kuri Chant

Field Spell

If the effect of a "Kuri" monster is activated from your hand, you can add a "Kuri" monster from your deck to your hand. All "Kuri" monsters gain 1000 ATK and DEF and are unaffected by your opponent's card effects. If this card is destroyed and sent to the GY, you can add a Level 7 monster with 2500 or less ATK from your deck to your hand.

I honestly want to make a kuriboh deck

@Darkmoon Angel

Alright so first things first with all customs the question that needs to be asked is. "Why does Kuriboh need this if at all and what power level would be acceptable.

It seems your trying to make your field spell a catch-all that heavily improves kuriboh (which is a defensive archetype) into an aggressive beatdown strat that also has hand restock potential.

The first effect alone would be enough for the card, everything else seems like needless bloat, Not all powerful field effects need to float esp if they offer that much gas while up.

That said, If your running a kuriboh deck, half the fun of it is the fact that it isn't hyper oppressive, its just turtling as much hits as possible until it can turn the game around.

So I feel like the custom as is is unnecessary, for that reason alone if not for its unbalanced card design. To start you should skim it down alot and keep the core component of the card you want to keep.

That said I would like to see what type of 'kuriboh' deck your making before you try to slot in a field spell like this.

But for now, I recommend just make the field spells effect be only the first effect.

Ok, I need to point out that while I said customs are allowed, I did specifically point out that "An entire archetype of purely customs" would not be allowed. Cool concept though. buuut its not applicable.

Maybe just make it a continuous with just the first effect?

@Darkmoon Angel

Would that not allow you to stack it for card draw due to it not being a 'once per turn' effect. Allowing you to go +1 on every kuriboh activation, while also letting you search Winged Kuriboh level 10?

I suggest keep it as a field spell to prevent that.

That said I would rather like to see the deck list you plan to slot it in.

@Darkmoon Angel
If it was a once per turn clause on the adding effect, to the point where multiple copies of the card face up would still only trigger on the 'first' activation of a kuri trigger.

Then yes that is a decent card for kuribohs and can be a continuous spell.

Again, though I need to see a decklist before I can accept the custom spell that is in it.

Ah you changed it.

That said to prevent thread clogging, please PM me further inquries about the custom.
