At last, I bring you... The Maulwurf!... I'll worry about cleaning things up and tweaking any issues when I'm fresh in the morning, every day's been a tiring day this past week, and I wanted to go ahead and get it posted. TxT
... also, I likely have a second one in the works that I also want to get posted before I focus on refinements.
Name: Grinder, The Earth Mover, Holy Moley!, Maulwurf
Appearance: Grinder is a huge mole-like creature, looming in the upper ranges of Monster heights with exceedingly thick and strong limbs, thick black fur, and strange crystal growths forcused on his fore-limbs, shoulders, head, and back. Though it's dark colors make it seem as if he has no eyes, they're simply kept 'almost' closed, and in-fact are striking firey gold colored.
Size: Typically 80 or so meters, but can stretch to 100 or so meters when not hunching over.
First Appearance: He was located at some point underground in africa, in a suspiciously uninhabited corner of the Democratic Republic of the Congo, an area where animals instinctively avoided the mountain in which he nested, where local folk-lore about a slumbering titan easily attracted a certain group's attention... and where he was easily 'contained', in one of TERRA's Facilities.
Abilities: I realize I get 'very' long-winded sometimes here, I just like to be thorough, there's probably less individual 'powers' here so much as species themed clarification, though the few he has open some fascinating physics based possibilities in how to use them.
Digging Claws: Like this isn't painfully obvious! Grinder has larger, long, and durable digging claws, sharp enough to cleave through any stone, though natural metals will slow him down, he'll still get through eventually. These claws are also a deadly weapon, though not as much as the crystals that can be used to augment them. Naturally, given that they've been used for who knows how many millennia to break, cleave, shove, and pulverize countless thousands of tons of stone to dig through the ground as if swimming, these arms are also incredibly strong.
Tremor Sense: Special sensory organs hidden in his nose, as well as those strange whiskers, and nerves throughout his body enable him to sense incredibly minute vibrations to learn about his environment. though this primarily refers to vibrations in the ground, it can be applied to some degree to anything that displaces enough air or 'mass' in general to create a signal. Basically, air-borne and under-water targets are not invisible to him, though the returned signals a bit more unclear, and he will more often combine this with his actual eye-sight to track such threats.
Hyper-Sensory Reaction: Probably not many people know, but moles are some of the fastest reacting animals in nature, capable of registering something as edible in nearly a hundredth of a second, and snapping on it in a tenth... Granted, this incredible speed doesn't 'precisely' translate to a titanic lumbering beast's actual body, but he is still capable of processing and reacting to an incredible volume of stimuli with astoundingly rapid timing... he just has to compensate for his body's far slower movement compared to his brain, but suffice to say, you don't want those jaws close enough to bite you.
Crystal Growths: The precise durability of these crystal growths is unclear, but they've proven able to with-stand incredible heat and force, and are obviously meant to be capable of withstanding the force and pressure of the earth while digging through it rapidly and facing normally deadly hazards such as magma pockets, cave-ins, explosive gas chambers, untold 'megatons' of earth naturally moving around it while being dug through. They've also demonstrated refractive properties, and a strange frequency that their matter seems to vibrate at, assumedly helping with digging as well as locating the crystals when dislodged. Oddly enough, they've also demonstrated solar absorbing properties when in the sun-light, though visible effect has been minimal, it's theorized that their growth may be solar powered to some degree.
Mineral Shaping: This strange ability allows him influence on the crystals that litter his body, allowing him to quickly grow, regrow, or re-shape them while they are directly attached to him and easily manipulated, contact manipulation is possible but noticeably slower. This includes re-shaping them in motion so that they can be flung off of his body, though once a crystal leaves his body It's beyond his reach.
[After some talk with the GM, I figured I should explain this one a bit thoroughly in my final product] Refractory Crystal Beam: The beam itself is comprised of solar energy drawn in through the crystals on his body, and collected within, though what precisely takes place 'inside' is unknown, it is clearly stored in sizeable volumes and can be projected from his mouth as raw light energy, varying between a bright harmless flash of light with short range to a focused beam of magnified light with a greater range and a focused heat limit capable of melting through steel beams like butter until it loses some of it's power, as well as being refracted by the crystals ejected from his body.
[It was suggested I go a bit farther with the explanation here! So lets see if I can make my idea clear!] Basically, crystals inside his body act like Solar batteries, gathering solar power that reaches the crystals on the outside of his body, storing it enough volume to create a focused beam akin to a magnifying glass beam, but scaled up to a kaiju's size.
The fundamental function of it is like a self-charging heat-laser who's power drops as the charge lowers, and while it has charge it can vary it's out-put, such as low enough to match it's recharge rate, where it would either have pitiful range, effect, 'or' spread, but be able to be re-used easily without much drain. While it can be used at maximum power, giving it good range and enough effect to melt through sky-scrapers like butter, essentially like a plasma cutter to put it simply, but only able to be powered for a few seconds before his charge is too drained to maintain that level of damage.
General Resistances: Blunt force is almost always easily shrugged off, given the forces of the 'planet' he has to survive while digging, this isn't much of a surprise. Though not immune, he 'is' highly resistant to cold with that thick fur, and generally fire-proof given, once more, what he often digs through under-ground. He's somewhat resistant to electricity, but Solar energy in particular is easily absorbed as more power.
Weaknesses: In line with the bit of context above, there are more potential vulnerabilities than listed, physics is a wonderful thing, and can reveal many ways of affecting things that aren't quite so obvious otherwise.
General vulnerabilities: While cold has little 'influence' on him, he's still capable of being physically frozen, and in a similar sense, despite being fire-proof he can be enflamed to some degree, and the fire has other issues of it's own, such as heat distorting the air that he senses vibrations in above ground... Many 'general' weaknesses can be attributed to basic physics and the natural effects things have on the world around them. The crystals on his body may be capable of refracting energy, but the rest of his body is not so strong against it.
Sensory Vulnerability: Quite simply, as sensitive as his tremor sense is, this also comes with being easily disrupted in a variety of ways and intensities, or sometimes bypassed entirely... obviously, there's too many possible ways to do this to actually list them all, but the simplest and biggest ones I can point out would be sonic attacks, over-loading vibrations, or something that makes no or so little vibrations, or moves faster 'than' those vibrations. You need only your imagination ;3
Hyper-Sense Difficulties: While he's capable of processing and reacting in fractions of a second, his body is not capable of 'moving' with the same speed, while he's not 'slow' either, and it still presents an advantage in reaction times, the difference in thought speed and physical movement speed can clash sometimes, and lead to frequently clumsy movements, especially when things become stressful and times 'to' react grow tighter.
Circadian Rhythm Downtime: While the effects are not so strong as to render him unconscious, Certain times of day, as well as specific levels of lighting can cause him to become more sluggish, inducing a feeling of mild fatigue from his body's natural reaction, this usually relates to time-periods close to mid-day.
One Secret Crippling weakness: I know, this is probably a fishy thing to do, but it's so effective that being clear about it seems silly... I will say, It's related more to his 'abilities' than his other weaknesses, and ironically, more likely that the humans will figure out how to take advantage of it.
Personality: Maulwurf actually isn't particularly aggressive by nature, though he won't shy away from any kind of threat... and may interpret something as a threat and attack first in some situations, He is otherwise highly reactionary, curiously approaching unusual sensory input to see if it's a danger, or food.
That said, when antagonized or enraged, the polar opposite is true, he approaches a threat with a seemingly instinctual ideal that ending it quickly is the most effective method of dispatching a threat, and despite his great lumbering size rarely moves 'away' from his target, unless he's herding it into a trap.
Humans specifically though... he tends to take them as too small to be effective snacks, favoring large animals, especially those slow or clumsy enough to catch easily, such as elephants and whales for instance, at least as a modern analogue, what he used to feed on is likely extinct by now... on which note, if he is feeling hungry, his curiosity is easily replaced with the hunt for edible things.
History: [I'll fill this out in the morning... Family issues lately have been distracting me enough that it's hard to focus on making a backstory right now @x@]
Other: (Optional - Anything about the creature that one should know?)
Theme:
Edit: Speaking of that other one. I understand if it doesn't fit the ARC 1 theme and needs tweaking or 'delaying' until a later arc. XD
Name: Gaia, The Great Mountain, Father Mother, Primordial Life, Giver of Life [TERRA might have a different name they want to give him XD]
Appearance: Gaia's body appears to be a vaguely equine form comprised of an unknown metal alloy, most likely formed over the millennia of slumber amidst all manner of molten minerals in the earth's core, with an abundant presence of molten metals and fire, though the lack of incinerating his surroundings upon arrival seems to imply a less natural element to what is normally an inherently deadly thing to be near. The metallic portions of the body are moderately malleable, able to be shaped into a sharper point for instance, or thickened for better protection which draws mass from other portions of the body, or shifted in softness or hardness. The molten material however, which appears to make up the neck, belly, and likely more of his 'insides', is extremely malleable, but soft and unlikely to protect much.
Size:
Core of Fire: 70 Meters tall at the shoulders, 80~ meters long
First Appearance: As far as Modern humanity at large knows, Gaia does not exist, a mere myth of ancient greek mythos, as he slumbers in the planet's core where they simply couldn't find him... or, maybe it was just the depths of a volcano somewhere, who knows... now though, something has finally shook him from his slumber, and he finally surfaced once more... oddly, off the coast of Japan of all places.
Abilities: [Note: Given the preference for 'limits' in Arc 1, I can see how even this toned down version might be a bit much, I could easily remove all forms of greater malleability to cement his form for now... or perhaps make that metal a 'layer' around a fleshier body?]
Life Force Power: Gaia is powered by the presence of living things, the ambient life force fuels his body and all associated powers with a pool of energy that regenerates depending on life in the environment, and though it's absence won't kill him, it severely weakens his regeneration. Also, though he can't 'draw' power directly from them in the sense of draining them, it is possible for it to be offered willingly to empower him.
Malleable Metal Body: His body is extremely durable, though it's always prone to it's quadrupedal shape, it can be reshaped in minor ways, such as producing spikes, armor, or sharp reinforcement for a weapon, drawing mass from the rest of the body to empower another part, or alter the density of the metal, with various results such as making himself appear larger, or smaller, more flexible, or more hardy... As a general rule, the lower the density of a limb, the more flexible it is, but the less durable, and vice-versa. This also means that he can easily replace lost body parts with mass from the rest of his body, which still means it won't be as durable as before, but become more mobile as a result.
Hot Body!: Literally, his body is extremely hot, though not fatally hot on the outside, which implies he has control of this heat and withholds it's greater volume inside of his body. This also is likely the reason that his 'inner' body is molten and his outer body is solid metal, it's likely that he can shunt this heat into a limb and potentially turn it molten as well. The heat within though is akin to the planet's core, and able to be expelled in a variety of ways aside from simply moving it around within his body, which normally implies an oral projection... It is probably also possible to simply disperse the heat and soften his body for greater flexibility, or compact the heat to increase hardness... given that the heat is always centered 'inside' of his body, it's possible there is something more important in there.
Mild Earth Manipulation: Stone, metal, and other minerals, he can 'somewhat' influence them in his current state, though his strength is clearly within his own body, he can impose 'some' of that will on stone and metal that he comes in contact with, which in addition to it's uses against an enemy, Is his primary method of regaining lost mass, absorbing various metals to replace lost metal or increase his over-all content. This however, is a slow and energy intensive process, anything above a small regeneration or quick 'patch-job' cannot be pulled off without time to focus on it.
General Resistances: Given the content of his body, certain things just don't affect him well, electricity for instance, has nothing to 'harm' and would simply travel through him, even imparting some of it's energy into heat as it traveles. Other sources of heat can of course provide more for him, though outside of a volcanic heat it's really not going to give him much. Poisons similar don't have a biological body 'to' poison.
Weaknesses:
Life Force Limitations: Gaia is fueled by life force, the less life there is in his vicinity the slower he can recharge, and the less he can put into regenerating his energy, or powering certain abilities, or eventually his own body. This by extension gives him a powerful motivation to protect large sources of life, and likely to encourage reckless behavior to preserve it.
Frigid Antithesis: Cold, water, and ice aren't so much a direct 'weakness' as they are mutually opposed to his strength. Water has the least actual effect, given that it would only chill his outside, greater sources of 'reducing temperature' though have the direct effect of, while hardening his body from loss of heat, also making him more durable, it also slows him down, steadily making it harder to move over-time, eventually able to freeze him, or perhaps, cool him enough to become 'too' solid.
Firey Over-use: Over-use of the heat in his core will, predictably, reduce his overall warmth, and by extension, forcibly cool and slow down the rest of his body, he has to either give it time to build heat back up, expend energy to boost his heat, or find another source to absorb heat from. By extension, this means that his strongest heat attacks are his first, and he must was a disproportionate period for the heat to build back up to full naturally. By extension though, it's also possible to forcibly over-heat his body until it melts, not that this is fatal, but it is wholly inconvenient!... unfortunately, this also tends to result in intense heat expulsion that is likely to melt the surrounding area to prevent it.
General Weaknesses: Death, sounds silly perhaps, but killing things around him, destroying forests, demolishing populated buildings, and other such sources of considerable death will weaken his ability to fuel his body. Otherwise, Things that tend to threaten metals still pose a considerable threat, though it's possible to 'cook' most of them off, like acid or rust for instance, he cannot magically undo damage that has been done this way. He is also far from immune to physics, for instance, something cold successfully entering his body tends to be fairly explosive with the reaction of temperatures... then there's magnets, yes, his body is magnetically active.
Personality: While not what one would call 'sapient', at least not yet, being all but forgotten for so long has that effect on such a creature, though perhaps that may change in the future, his source of life gives him a powerful motivation to protect living things that he comes across, or to respond for such things seeking protection.
Outside of that protective drive, there is little else that could be called aggressive about him... if one were to discount his firey nature at least, he more or less embodies the concept of a gentle giant, cautious not to extinguish all those little motes of life that keep him fed.
History: [Same explanation as the CS above... I really hope for a free day or relaxation soon, but damn it's rough of late TxT]
Other: (Optional - Anything about the creature that one should know?)
The first post is finally up! This is currently the prelude to introduce your monsters and characters into the spotlight.
Is there anything I need to change to make things acceptable? aside from actually filling out some history info of course. I unfortunately woke up to being stuck with a job for a few hours, but once I'm free today I'm going to be doing that anyway, and figured I should see if there's any other problems I need to fix while I'm at it.
I'll hopefully get to work on my opening post later tonight.
@Lmpkio I've been meaning to ask this: does the kaiju genre exist in this universe? Or did it never happen (like George Romero movies didn't exist in TWD universe)?

This is actually also a great question :D I too am curious
Hey Shoryu! So, as for your characters, I was going to wait until we got the history to add my input but I'm not sure when that'll come in so I'll just tell you what I'm seeing now.
As far as Grinder goes, I really like the concept but there a just a few issues.
He's very large, 140 meters when not hunched over is a bit much. 100 meters when standing straight would be more appropriate.
Mineral Shaping is fine as far as when the crystals are on his body, however flinging them through the air and shaping them seems pretty unrealistic. If he could just shape them on his body to become sharp armor that may make more sense.
If you're still looking for a long range attack, you could extend the range of the beam he has. Also, an explanation on how he varies the beam's power could be a great addition.
Other than those qualms, Grinder seems fine by me!
As far as Gaia is concerned, I only have one small issue:
So, for the shaping of its body, making a shield or blade out of the metal coating doesn't make as much sense as the other attributes you included for the shaping. Making spikes form all over its frame, or upping the durability of the parts it uses to stomp/beat the other kaijus could be a good alternative.

-Large was my idea for him XD and I saw something that said the upper limit was around 150 or so, and in terms of over-all mass there's a couple other monsters around here that are much bigger despite being technically shorter, or at least one I saw, since he's 'mostly' vertical with less length involved, though I 'could' still knock some off. -I can remove the 'disconnected' shaping, sure, and restrict it to 'connected' shaping or 'only while in contact' at least. ^.^ -If removing ranged mineral shaping is involved, I could easily increase the range of the beam, And I was trying to expand the explanation compared to what i originally had, but I can go a little farther, sure.

That's all I've got to add!
-that's a good suggestion actually, I'll give that one a roll ^.^
Edit: Changes made! I can tweak the height too if that's still an issue after my explanation
Also, unfortunately, I also don't know when I'll manage the histories... I may have to settle for leaving them 'mysterious' until I can work up the mind-set for backstory... I can do 'here and now' easy enough right now, but with frequently being interupted to help with hospice care in the house, It's hard to maintain a mood for actual 'backstory' planning for them TxT

I agree with what is said here.
For a mole kaiju of his stature, I also feel like he should be smaller. And I also agree with the mineral shaping and long range attacks.
I'm also VERY curious as to what his "One Secret Crippling weakness" is. You might wanna run it by us GMs just to be sure it'll be fair.

For Gaia...
I'm just going to say this right now but... I'm not a fan of the MLP design of the character. It wouldn't fit with the grittiness of this RP - one based off the Monsterverse and other classic kaiju series. I strongly advice in changing his design just so it can fit with the RP. Unless you want to heavily specify that the pic above doesn't necessarily represent the cartoonish design.
Other then that, Gaia seems fine for now. However this character would be better fit for a future arc. Might wanna keep it in storage in the mean time.

Awwww, I can down his height some >n> I just liked the 'big lumbering' theme to it, and thought it fit his image XD Honestly, considering the sheer 'mass' of some monsters that are at a lower height, his body design needed the extra height to stand up in strength XD though I guess I could just lower his height and make him a bit more agile than I'd been planning for his previous size.
The rest I already changed XD And I can mention that 'one big weakness' in PM I guess, though it's ironically both obvious and an uncommon thing to consider at the same time, at least I think so ;3
For Gaia...

I didn't think it was particularly 'mlp designed' xD just less 'monstery' in theme... I actually thought it kindof fit a japanese artistic style somewhat, at least compared to some I've seen before. Although! Even if it is MLP-like, I'd treat it like I treat MLP stuff, 'artistic license' and when applied to a setting with more realistic appearances, apply some imagination to it for what it could 'actually' look like... In this sense, the image is more a general shape for it, it might not be as 'frightful' in appearance as other monsters, but it 'is' still a looming creature with a habit of being onfire... Given it's malleable body, it could also follow a theme of being less 'intimidating' normally, but then tweaking things to be more monstrous when a fight breaks out...
... I also had an exorbitant ammount of trouble finding a quadrupedal image of what I was thinking about that wasn't either obscenely fugly, unfitting for the idea I had, or 'too' elemental for Arc 1 by a much farther margin.
although bluh... I even tried toning him down for Arc 1 levels XD you should've seen what I had for his previous incarnation XD I just really liked his concept and wanted to find some way to run with it while it was 'fresh'. @x@

APPEARANCE, PERSONALITY, & ABILITIES
Bearing a resemblance to a crustacean, Scordoru was considered one of the smallest monsters in the world. Yet, it was still a threat if it ever escaped with its thick claws. According to researchers and experts, those claws were capable of crushing over 50,000 pounds per square inch. It also possesses a high crest above a large, symmetrical head that can withstand close range attacks and explosives. And there were toxic spiked barbs lining its plating giving him some sort of protection against its predators. The same researchers also noted that Scordoru might have been hostile to humans; however, they never found the reason behind its behavior.
WEAKNESSES
Scordoru's neck, underbelly, and ligaments were unprotected by its tough plating. And of course, it was smaller and weaker than the other monsters. Humanity was expected to be defenseless and valuable to the creature; however, a bigger and stronger monster was expected to win. But, Scordoru wasn't going to give up without a fight.
HISTORY
Based on Terra's findings and years of studying, Scordoru originated from East Asia before moving west towards the Americas. It spent years moving around across the ocean until it stopped moving near North America. None of the researchers knew why it suddenly stopped moving and decided to rest. Some theorized that it actually passed out due to exhaustion while others said something else beaten Scordoru in close combat. Regardless, Terra built Outpost 20 to contain the creature in the hopes that it never escaped.
I've been meaning to ask this: does the kaiju genre exist in this universe? Or did it never happen (like George Romero movies didn't exist in TWD universe)?

APPEARANCE, PERSONALITY, & ABILITIES
Cinros looked like a huge sea monster with its long tail and its slender legs. The legs ended in multi-fingered hands which were recently discovered to bend backward. Its skin was a light gray with dark speckles across its body. There were two esophagi that extended from the monster's lower chest and ended in tooth-like projections. And its head had two eyes with massive pupils and a pair of membranous sacks on the sides that inflated and receded back. Despite its appearance, Cinros was thought to be durable to conventional weaponry and possibly other monsters. Studies found that its tail was strong enough to destroy 50,000 pounds per square inch and capable of destroying the nearby populated areas. Researchers believed that Cinros was aggressive to everything.
WEAKNESSES
However, it was possible that it could start running away if it was heavily pressured. With enough airstrikes, it was expected that Cinros will try to escape. That was when someone or something could deliver a killing blow to it. Yet, experts estimated that Cinros was able to destroy the entire Los Angeles County with ease. And its aggressive behavior meant that other monsters were its target. That type of behavior was going to bring it trouble since Cinros didn't understand the concept of an alliance.
HISTORY
Based on Terra's findings and years of studying, Cinros originated from the Pacific Ocean before heading towards land. It eventually found present-day California and made Mt. San Antonio it's home. Researchers believed that it was a mother and had several children; but, Cinros was the only one inside that mountain. The current theory was that it lost its children centuries ago because of unknown reasons. And as a result, Cinros went back to her home and began coping by entering habilitation. Recently, Terra was worried that Cinros was started to wake up for its slumber. They went ahead and warn Outpost Eleven of its possible awakening; but, none of the crew took the message seriously.
@Star Lord As discussed, these two kaiju are visually very similar to their respected inspirations - one being more so than the other. However, given that at least one is technically gonna be a throwaway, I could let them fly as neat little visual cameos to other sources of media. Even if that won't be the case, it still wouldn't matter much - but these will be the only exceptions. So on that note, both are accepted.
Appearance: A mix of sun yellow, soot black, ash white, and metallic tones. Of note is the five-fingered hands- with a set of thumbs on either side of his palm- and what seems to be facial hair. Analysis indicates it's close in composition to volcanic glass.
Size: 90 meters tall
First Appearance: After awakening beneath the Mediterranean, he fought and removed a titanic mutant crab menacing a coastal crab. He placed it near its native antarctic waters.
Abilities: (What powers of utter destruction can you cause?) -Solar plasma: Hyperion can generate plasma that burns at a brightness and temperature equal to that of the sun. Usually used for melee hits, it can also be thrown or used for defensive shields. It rapidly cools when not in contact with his body. -Super strength and endurance: Even for his tremendous size, Hyperion is far stronger than seems normal. He's able to deadlift most kaiju overhead. -Craftsman: Able to work stone and metal into weapons and armor, though he requires massive supplies of either to make anything he can actually use. -Martial Arts: In a turn that truly shocked TERRA's scientist during his first battle, The Titan does not fight like an animal. He fights using a grappling style, akin to the ancient Greek martial art of Pankration. He even seems to understand how to use weapons. -Actually Sapient: Unlike most kaiju, it's believed that Hyperion has at least human-level intelligence. While he doesn't seem to understand or read modern languages, he can at least process that there is some meaning behind the symbols. This means he's capable of concepts entirely foreign to other kaiju, like "strategy," "learning," and "coordination."
Weaknesses: (Every monster has a weakness of some kind - no exceptions!) -Darkness: Hyperion seems to have never evolved night vision. In darkness, he's completely blind and tends to panic. As long as the power holds out in a city, though, he's able to see. -Obscene body heat: The Titan's body heat radiates outward, making him readily detectable by other kaiju. Walking over sand leaves glass footprints behind. -Protector: Despite his tremendous size and power, The Titan seems genuinely invested in protecting humanity, regularly throwing himself in harm's way to protect humans. His policy on other sapient creatures is, as yet, unknown.
Personality: Terra's scientists can agree on very little about this creature. The general consensus is that he's of extraterrestrial origin, has at least human-level intelligence, and can create tools from stone or metal. It's not hard to see that he's confused by the modern world, but that doesn't seem to stop him from jumping in front of buildings to protect them from monsters. Despite this benevolence, he fights dirty, and gives off a cocky air.
History: Since he was discovered in 1966, there has been great debate among Terra's scientist just which mythological titans this ancient stone-and-steel clad humanoid inspired. Deep in slumber, Terra found ancient cave paintings on a stone seal depicted a giant striking down a terrifying monster. What experiments could be performed on a creature of this size were, and a third-string facility was left to monitor this sleeping giant. Within the cave, they found even more inscriptions. What little they can agree on is that he was found deep in a volcanic cavern system in the Mediterranean, and much of the writing, carvings, and offerings in this cavern suggest frequent interaction with the ancestors of the ancient Greeks.
