Yuno used her Lightsaber to deal heavy damage to the Goliath while Rosemary poured on the fire. The undead monstrosity was beginning to buckle against the attacks, blood and parts pouring out of its body.

It had been maybe thirty minutes of continuous fighting and the combatants were tired. A brief moment of respite, however, was all that was needed to continue the battle to its bloody conclusion.

"Damn, cyborg girl's messed up real bad." Greene remarked to Rosemary, referring to the badly-beaten Yuno. "We better end this fight soon while there's still some of her left. Or, you could tell her to retreat to our position. I reckon she'd listen to you more than me. That way, the soldiers would waste time trying to get to us, giving us time." The human suggested. "It's just some advice, miss. Take it or leave it."

Rosemary was the quickest to recover and, likely, the first to move.

There was a lul in the action so she quickly brought her gun to bear again. Without stopping, her guns sang once more, firing rapidly into the golem. She could hear what Greene said, but she figured the best way to deal with this was to finish everything quickly, shooting apart the enemy before they could do more damage.

Rosemary unleashed a hail of bullets at the Goliath. The bullets tore off chunks of its body parts but the Goliath used its Reinforced Muscle to stave off some of the damage, yet the part itself was not saved.

The Soldiers shambled forward. It was unknown why they did this. Perhaps it is to get a more accurate shot at Yuno? Or maybe they thought they ought to focus on Rosemary now? Regardless, they were beside the Goliath now.

Greene took aim with his Sniper Rifle and fired at the Soldiers but the shot did not connect.

Now it was Yuno and Rosemary's turns to move. The Goliath moved with them and attacked Rosemary with its Monster Hand, using its Long Arm to reach the Doll. Rosemary was smashed by the monstrous hand but she was still intact. Definitely more intact than Yuno.

Yuno was still standing. With most of her body more-or-less disfigured and mutilated, it was only her strong bones and mechanical composition that was keeping her from complete annihilation. Nonetheless, the girl was confident. It was a battle of attrition, one she was positive they would win.

Thus, when Yuno was suddenly not the attention of the enemies attention anymore, she could only become that much angrier. How could they dare to hurt Rose?! Unforgivable. Unforgivable. Unforgivable. Unforgivable! Somewhere, a part of her, had thought of these contraptions as monstrosities that deserved her pity. Simply victims. But now? No. They had to be put down...

Her body was damaged, and if it took any more hits, would probably be broken. Strangely enough, she did not feel any sort of revulsion, surprise or anything else, just a strange calm as her eyes glanced rapidly through the battlefield, trying to judge more incoming attacks to dodge them. Mangled as it was, she could still raise her limbs. That meant she could still fight.

Yuno, despite the immense damage she took, surged forward with newfound strength and anger. With her Lightsaber, she made her move against the Goliath monstrosity and hacked off its remaining intact parts. The undead giant had sustained too much damage and that which animated it failed, falling to the concrete floor with a loud thud. "It's down! It's down! Thank the Lord it's down!" Greene cheered.

But the fight was not over, there were still undead Soldiers left. Rosemary opened fire on them with her Dual Pistols and took two of them down.

Greene was the next to shoot but his Sniper Rifle shot narrowly missed the undead mob.

The remaining three Soldiers attacked. Their Simultaneous Fire aimed at Rosemary, the bullets hitting the Doll right in the head.

Almost as if in response to her body being broken apart, she fired rapidly into the midst of the soldiers, the sharp staccato of every shot ringing out through the area.

Greene walked through the carnage of the battle, the last of the Soldiers felled by Rosemary. The human approached his Doll allies and whistled. "Ain't gonna dance around this, girls, but you two look like s***." He remarked about the mangled bodies of Yuno and Rosemary. Greene then inspected the fallen undead's parts. "You know, some of these parts look still okay and usable. You think you can patch yourselves with these?"

The undead hostiles were not everything. Many labor zombies were still working in the factory and unfinished Goliaths were still on the factory floor. They ignored the battle completely and will likely continue working even if they are hit or damaged. "These guys are dedicated. I'll give 'em that." Greene pointed to them. "What should we do with them?"

The Dolls could opt to destroy them, but that would shred at their innocence and sanity. Though at least they would stop the production of these infernal Goliaths and gain some more parts to repair themselves. Alternatively, they could just leave them alone and move on.

After the Goliath was obliterated and Rose took quick care of the remaining soldiers, Yuno felt... not all too different. Wasn't she supposed to feel exhausted? To be content? Happy that... "R-Rose, a-are you alright?" Yuno rushed, somewhat crawled, over. Herself resembling more something humanoid with flesh and steel than an actual little girl.

"You did... great." There was more Yuno wanted to say. More she wanted Rose to know. But the girl was also felt afraid, afraid of rejection. Yeah, certainly. It was good that she felt anything at all, wasn't it?

Looking at Greene, whom she ignored at first, Yuno was certain that she could... what was it called again? This certainty that he'd never betray her. A calm reassurance that, with Greene around, they would have it just that much easier. Yeah, she could entrust her life to him. Yuno was sure of that.

"Thank you." She also thanked him, not even questioning if he did as much as hit a single enemy. "You're right." She wished he was not. "I... We... have to patch ourselves up." It felt disgusting and wrong. A deed so sinister she would never be able to call herself human again. But it was also a necessary evil.

...

Flesh molding with flesh and steel alike, Yuno looked just a little bit more like her somewhat innocent self from before. "I..." What were they supposed to do with the rest? At first, she felt sorry. Then, pure hatred. But now? Nothing at all. It was difficult to be truly certain which of these feelings were hers and not, but wasn't indifference an emotion in itself?

Yuno shook her head. "I don't care. What about you, Rose?" Instead, she let her dear sister decide.

She took in a deep breath, the air whistling through her broken flesh as she did so.

There was no regret, no bad feelings, no anger, remorse, fear. Only acceptance. Rosemary really was dead, wasn't she? Thus, there wasn't any real resistance to her repairing her body with parts from the fallen. But...

"I don't care. What about you, Rose?"

Now that Yuno has her attention, Rosemary looked over her for a moment, as if making sure she was repaired as good as possible. Still with barely any expression on her face, she slapped her, before pulling her in for a hug.

"Don't... fight like that... again, please?"

The fear, anxiety, and worry resurfaced slightly, no longer pushed down by the necessity of keeping her combat instincts sharp.

"We leave them. No use fighting."

With the decision made not to interfere, the trio continued to explore the factory but there was nothing more to find. It did not take long for them to find the exit and leave the dead factory.

Outside of the factory was the wilderness... or what was left of it. The sky was filled with lead-colored clouds and a thick mist was making the prospect worse. Earth did not have a sense of life anymore, even if it was moist. Little plant life grows and most of the landscape was dull, lifeless rock and debris. Because the distant sky was dyed a little red, the Dolls realize it was sunset now. It was a scene outside for the first time since the Dolls have woken up.

"S'pose now's the time for me to say what I'm doing here." Greene began. "Me and a couple other survivors are on a journey, you see. We're trying to get to a place called 'Cradle'. We've heard that it's a haven, a sanctuary of sorts. At the very least, we hope it's a place of civilization. Even if it just fulfills the bare minimum of the criteria." He explained. "I got separated from my buds after an encounter with some hostile undead. I ended up fleeing to the factory and... the rest is history. But don't worry though, I'm pretty sure them and I can find each other in no time."

"So uhh, you two wanna come with us?"

Fighting.

That was the only thing Yuno and Rosemary did ever since they awoke in this square, metal chamber. The room they were in had adequate space and several wood boxes for the Dolls to lean on, sit on or lie down on although the last one was not recommended. The metal of the walls and the floor were old, dirty and a bit rusty. Time had worn down this place and whoever's running it did not bother to maintain it. A single lightbulb provided a dim illumination for the decrepit room.

A single automated door was the only exit out of the room. At regular intervals, the door would open and Yuno and Rosemary would be forced to head outside lest their room start shrinking and crush them.

Out the door was a larger room and far more lit-up with larger lights on the ceiling. The walls were made of hard, cold steel and the floor was made of tough stone roughened by all the battles waged here. This was where Yuno and Rosemary would battle all sorts of undead that emerged from huge doors from whence they poured out from. This arena saw many fights that left corpses all over it yet somehow, they were all cleaned up once the next round arrived.

This time, however, the door had not opened for quite some time. Neither Yuno nor Rosemary knew what was happening, but they could use this moment to know each other. Despite fighting together for a long time, they did not exactly had a chance to properly introduce themselves to each other.

She hugged her legs closer to her, as her eyes flitted through the things in the room, coming to rest every so often on the other girl in the room. How long had it been now? Days? Weeks? Years? She had no idea, having only a few feeble memories in her head, and none of them included when she and the other girl was put in here.

Rosemary did not speak, but she did stare intently at the other girl.

What were they to do now? The door had not even moved for quite some time. Either something happened to whoever that was controlling the door, or they had lost all usefulness and was thrown away like trash. She wasn't sure what was worse.
