Please respond to the following two polls if the concept interests you:

Which historical Iron Age people(s) do you think are the coolest or the most interesting?
Which of the following plots would you like the most?

Mind you I already have a map and a lot of plot-mapping/worldbuilding done. So this is to decide where and when we are on the map when I set out to write the thread; not to help me get started from scratch!

Thank you for any insight you can provide. When a clear trend emerges I'll begin writing the actual Interest Check.

Edit: Here it is

Ooooh, this is a tough one.
I'm more of a fan of the Bronze Age (and well, the late Iron Age too, I guess) so many of the Iron Age civilizations tend to have had a great and long history during the Bronze Age as well.
I love the ancient Egyptians, Babylonians, Assyrians, Carthaginians, India and Greece (though Iron Age India and Greece, especially the Maha Janapadas and the Classical and Hellenistic Ages are more interesting than the Harappans and Mycenaeans, respectively). I can read cuneiform Akkadian, and have some knowledge of hieroglyphs since I was seven - I'm such a nerd, lol.

The kind of plot that I'd like would be to RP the intrigues in a grand city states. There could perhaps be different factions that the players might want to join, like a merchant's guild, a temple, a noble house, etc., and vying for supremacy. Another cool idea would be to have the roleplay take place at the start of the Iron Age, after the Bronze Age collapse, and have the story be about the end of the heroic age (Iron Age cultures like the Greeks looked back upon the Bronze Age as the age of gods and heroes).

Wow, I didn't realize people were still invested in this ...

However! It just so happens that I finished up the proper IntChk yesterday, and that the map and lore for the OOC are filling out nicely. So if you've been following this project, rejoice in that it is coming along smoothly! I did not forget about it, despite the OP being *cough cough* two months old

Keeping an eye on this. Playing Assassin's Creed Origins (not quite the right time period, I know, but still) has given me a lot of inspiration for pre-medieval settings and characters.

The results are in. Without further ado, here's the true Intchk, the one with a decisive plot, tone, and setting. I tried to combine as many of the top poll results as possible while still keeping the scale and scope of the story more personable. So even if the story seems small or limiting at a glance, know that it will accommodate a lot of experimentation and expansion, should you seek them out IC.

Also if anyone has insight into whether this game will receive better attention from the Casual section or Advanced then I'm all ears. It won't necessarily be in Casual despite my having placed the next phase there.

@BiffleChump@Danelaw@Mr Irony II@Random Kitty@flowersrgr8@Andreyich Could fill one more spot, maybe two, where people inevitably ghosted. If anyone is still interested in kinda-Celtic-kinda-Proto-Germanic tribes, and big ancient empires, and political intrigue set to the backdrop of brutal bloodshed, the Discord and OOC links are below. Still accepting, and the IC is starting soon.

Bump.

Hi. I'm sorry for vanishing into thin air the way I did.
I was new to this forum, and looking around for any roleplay that looked interesting, and had to prioritize between them. I'm glad to see that this roleplay got started, though, and that it has progressed as far as it has.

Funny thing is, when I first entered this thread, I was uncertain over whether how many roleplays that I've joined would get started, but once I checked again, I saw that not only had this thread had the best start, but it had grown so explosively that I got more than a little overwhelmed with far it already had progressed, and was unsure of how I would be able to enter it and use its' Discord channel without being too much of a latecomer (I've only used Discord for much smaller-scale roleplays before).
I apologize. I'm uncertain of what to do now.

@BiffleChump Thanks for the update, and the transparency. I cannot promise that the RP would not feel overwhelming; only that I would do my best to mitigate that feeling, as I already have for some others. I'm always around to answer questions and to find the most satisfying compromises between player creativity and my own vision for this story.

Thankfully the premise of this RP does allow for latecomers. (For example say you arrived late at the meeting because your planned route through the mountains was too treacherous for your wagons, and you had to find a detour.) Notwithstanding any hesitation or intimidation, if you're still interested in the core idea itself then we can discuss your options: both what you want to do, and, if your ideas can accommodate, what the RP still needs. My Discord is pugbutter#1772, and you already know my Guild handle. No hard feelings if you're no longer interested, though I think you wouldn't regret giving me one chance to prove that it's not nearly as daunting as it may seem!

Welcome to the Guild, btw. I had not even noticed the first time around that your account is less than three months old.
