He was wearing a Pittsburg Steelers shirt and a pack of black denim jeans. He took them off, everything but his purple jock underwear. He laid back for a moment. It was time to hit the sack. But, first he got up tiredly and went into his bathroom and flipped on the light bulk above the mirror. “My loyalty has often lied with me. I have had partners, but it dissipates. I am not godly. I have killed children. I do not struggle too much, because life is what you make of it. And my life taste life baked trouble pie. But, one day, I will lay my loyalties somewhere. Why? Why me.”

Massachusetts

Massachusetts, 1950, Nate is bit. But before he become a vampire talent, he made it to be 25 years old. He had a loving mom and father, and his family was normal. He liked playing sports, and that’s where he met the man who would seduce him. The man who thought his unique abilities and the rights he could afford the young man, the rights to roam the night…

He was on his way to his girlfriend’s house. His dad was driving him, and the whole he way his dad squawked. His dad did not want a grandson. Nate didn’t want a baby. The two were agreeable about it. So, when they pulled up at Tornado St, the street Lauren’s house was on, his dad did not say anything other than bye, and Nate waved him goodbye, too. He was looking at her window when he heard the car squelch and run off of the road. He ran back, but his dad was convulsing and died in a minute.

He jumped up after he placed the back of his father’s head in his arm. He jumped as high as a deer leaping over a broken tree trying to evade poachers could have. Immediately, lurking in the open sight of the neighborhood was some fellow he looked like he was insane dressed wearing a fedora and a hospital gown. He was even dancing. Nate, enraged and hyper vigilant, called out to him and told him he wanted the man’s name, that the man had killed his father. And the man who was thinking about a mad hatter shindig this evening only did a twirl, and then the crazy man was gone..

First responders arrived, and Nate and his girlfriend, and her family, provided all of the information to the authorities that they could. No one had seen him, heard him, or smelled him, whatever! There didn’t seem to be a “him.” For a while, every one was occupied. But, standing there with Lauren stoned a little; he was offered a ride home. Since his family’s car was registered as police evidence, he took it up and climbed in the car. There was police patrolling the area, so Lauren’s mom, Helen, stayed at home.

On their way back to Atlas Dr. is where it happened. Fast. They were near a candy and bread bakery outlet, and Nate rolled his window down and was not speaking, unlike his cabin mates. They were having a small discussion. They wanted to see if indirect therapy helped. It may have, but then the naked mad hatter swooped out of the darkness and ripped him out of the car. He threw him away.

Nate hit the dirt hard. And, he opened his eyes and saw the same jackass standing there. But, now, he had on regular clothing. The demonstrative vampire admitted that he was who murdered his father, and talked about destiny, and this and that. But his question was how Nate saw him. The 25-year old could not understand about it. And, that was it. The bloodsucker bit him, and said he would watch from the shadows. The nights events with Nate being hypnotized. He was no longer humane. He had a new way of life, and above all else he would not speak of any thing he witnessed.

And that was it. Nate hated himself some, but the creatures and monsters that combed through our fears had been around as long as man and none of them had ever returned to humanity.
