Contrary to popular belief, Astraia Astor and Santiago Fernandez had not hooked up in the Salvador office. Instead, they finally put an end to the tension that had them hostage since Yessi’s return to Florida. On her end, the blonde had explained in detail why she had left so suddenly, why she hadn’t bothered to contact Diablo, and how the reason behind her and Aurelio’s return was to patch things up with those they’d left behind before returning to South Korea. On his end, Santiago told Yessi all about April, his feelings for her, and the news of his impending fatherhood. Worries had been soothed, advice had been exchanged, laughs had been shared and any remaining ill feelings had been put to rest. When all was said and done, the two young adults officially closed their chapter together with a long, emotional embrace.

Diablo and Yessi were exiting the office to go back to their friends when a familiar voice rumbled across every corner of the Salvador home.

“Good evening, King’s Academy! How’s everyone doing tonight?”

Santiago’s blood turned to ice, gray eyes widening. He exchanged a look with the blonde before they both rushed to the stage just in time to hear April shout out to the whole school that she was pregnant with his baby.

He could feel the eyes of everyone in the room digging into him and the whirlwind of gossip start as he waited for April to leave the stage. She was about to walk out the door when he reached out and grabbed her arm to stop her. What the fuck is wrong with you?!” he hissed at her, the clown makeup making his furious face look menacing.

“What the fuck is wrong with me? I have trust issues apparently. And hmmm, why do we think that is?” April paused for a second, her once triumphant mood replaced by frustration. “No answer? Maybe it's because I can’t let you go to a party without you fucking anything that breathes. Or maybe its because that on top of the fact that you wanted to come alone, you still had the audacity to ask me to stop racing. As if you give a fuck!” April took in a breath and composed herself. She needed to be the bigger one here, not the irrational one. “Let's talk outside before we embarrass ourselves anymore.” she said, turning on her heel and heading towards the door.

We?” Santiago called out to April, feet firmly planted on the ground and making no motion to follow her anywhere. “I’m not embarrassed about a damn thing! I wasn’t the one jumping to wrong conclusions and making a fool of myself in front of the whole damn school! And don’t you fucking keep blaming me for your trust issues, April: I made it very clear to you from the very beginning that what we had wasn’t meant to be serious! How many times do I have to fucking remind you of that?!”

April stopped in her tracks, turning around to face him a few paces away. “So homecoming was a lie then huh? Oh, Lils, I think I’ve fallen in love with you. Lils, I’m sorry I’ve been such a douchebag to you. Lils, I’ve really fucking missed you. She said, faking a small dainty voice as she spoke. “It wasn’t meant to be god damn serious until it suddenly was, Santiago, and yet you come out here and the first thing you do is fuck god damn Yessi. Can I just say, predictable as usual.” April’s eyes shot daggers into the young man before her, further intensified by the yellow tinted contacts that hid her usual eye color.

“And here we go again: jumping to the wrong conclusions! It’s turned into your new fucking sport, Lils!” Diablo sarcastically snapped, shaking his head and rolling his eyes at April. “First off: I meant every single thing I said to you at Homecoming- that’s part of the conversation I had with Yes, believe it or not. But since you’re so fucking sure I was screwing Yessi, go ask your boyfriend Kavi to show you the footage from the security camera in the office. Because I swear on my grandmother’s grave that you won’t see me tongue-deep in Yessi’s mouth like you were with him less than ten minutes ago,” he added bitterly, his voice dripping with pain and hurt that only intensified when he saw the expression in April’s face. So it really was her in that video with Kavi… Just like he’d feared. “Or did you think that by taking your usual shots at me I wouldn’t find out?”

April felt the blood drain from her face and her hands get cold. His words hit her like bullets, every single one of them stinging more than the last. It wasn’t that she was shocked that he’d found about the kiss with Kavi, it was that she had lost the moral high ground. She was the cheating asshole now. She was the one that Santi needed to be mad at. April took in a shaky breath, swallowing hard. Her eyes never left Santi’s, but every moment of silence between the two she felt smaller and smaller.

“I…I am s-so...so so so so sorry…” April squeezed her hands into fists to hide how they shook, stammering over her words as she spoke. Anyone around them that was paying attention could see that April looked absolutely mortified, the same look one would have if they’d hit a kid on the street with their car.

“Y-you…you don’t owe me anything...b-but can we talk outside now? April asked, her voice still evidently shaky.

The young man nodded, and followed her lead as she brought him over to her car, far enough away that they wouldn’t be overheard. When they’d reached their destination, he turned to face April, his broad arms crossed in front of his chest. Well?” he asked a bit more coldly than he’d meant to, raising a questioning eyebrow.

“I guess it’s my turn to be the cheating asshole who needs to apologize. The cool outdoor air on their silent walk outside had really helped to calm her down a bit. “I guess I have no reason not to trust you about what you did with Yessi. I’m sorry that I jumped to that conclusion Santi. Not that I’m trying to make excuses--because I’m not--but I guess I was just thinking the worst because you didn’t want me to come.” April shook her head. It sounded so stupid now that she had said it, but it was the truth. “It was a shitty thing to do, and I guess I really didn’t help it any when I...when I made the announcement. She looked down to the ground with these words, wishing she could take it all back.

Diablo was quiet for a moment, taking his time to organize the racing thoughts in his head before speaking up. “The kiss itself isn’t what has me so upset. It’s who you did it with, that it was meant to spite me for something I didn’t even do, and how you said that scum’s been there for you when I wasn’t,” he admitted, pinching the bridge of his nose to hold back the tears that were burning his eyes.

“Look, Lils: I’m not perfect. I know I’m a piece of shit, and I know I haven’t given you any reason to trust me- I swear I’m fucking trying to fix that. But you’re making it so damn hard for me, you know? I haven’t so much as thought about being with someone else, yet you’re quick to assume I’m still fucking everything that moves. When I decide I need some time to clear my head and ask you for space, you don’t respect that. You keep hounding me and hounding me instead, and it makes me feel like I’m fucking suffocating. The only way I know I can get some peace is to disappear altogether. And I’m not saying this to play the victim or any of that stuff: I just want to be upfront with you. Just think about it: how are we supposed to make things better if the attempt is one-sided? I can’t be the only one making an effort here, Lils. You’ve got to give me a hand.”

“I really want to apologize for...for kissing Kavi. I made an assumption and decided that if you were allowed to do it, so was I. I’m really, really sorry for going behind your back and doing that.” April took a deep breath, taking in everything Santiago was telling her. “I didn’t realise that you felt I was suffocating you when you needed space… I’m just scared. I’m fucking terrified with this happening and got angry when you weren’t there. And the assumptions...there’s no excuse for that. She looked up to Santiago, tucking her hair behind her ear. “It was a shitty thing to do. I’m sorry.”

Santiago didn’t know what it was about April, but she always managed to hit that soft spot he never even realize he had in the first place. He reached forward and wrapped her in his arms, nuzzling his face in her hair and kissing the top of her head just like he’d done back at Homecoming. “And I’m sorry for making you think I was running away from you. I love you, Lils: I really do. I said I’d be there for the both of you and I mean that. You’re having my fucking kid, for crying out loud. There’s no way I’d ever leave you like that.”

“I feel like we could’ve done better--and I’m not pointing fingers, neither of us are great at this evidently--had we talked about this kinda stuff. Maybe we just need to open up like this whenever something’s up.” She hugged him tightly, letting out a long sigh as she pressed her head into his chest.

“I agree,” he admitted, stepping away from the embrace. His gray eyes stared at her beautiful face for a second, and he took a moment to wipe the tears off her cheeks. “From now on, we’ll start working on being better towards each other. We have to make things work before the baby comes, right?” he added with a laugh, taking a moment to place his hand on her stomach where he knew the beginnings of a bump were starting to show. The young man knew April was a really sweet girl, and he felt awful for being the reason she felt so insecure. He’d definitely try to fix that.

“Right.” April nodded, a smile returning to her face as Santiago’s hand pressed against her.

Diablo took a moment to give his girl a soft kiss before offering up an escape plan. “What do you say we get out of here, grab some snacks and watch a movie back at your place? I didn’t even want to come here in the first place. I can’t wait to take this stupid makeup off…” he complained with a chuckle.

“Agreed. And that sounds like a good idea. I was never one for these big parties anyway.”

A collab by @NeoAJ and @HaleyTheRandom; featuring Shawna and Ariel.

“Holy shit. Where did they go? This house ain’t that big!”

Cleopatra was fumbling with modern technology by the alcohol table. Not surprising given she spent most of the night there. Her inadvertent pep talk to Ariel had led her to push most of the rest of the whiskey into her cup, and the effects were starting to take hold. She had grabbed a chair to steady herself as she sent texts to Kellie Anne and Sunshine, wondering just where the hell they had disappeared in the midst of the party. Meanwhile, the crown was starting to get heavy on her head. There were noises coming from the upstairs, which meant the host of the party was probably having a very enjoyable conversation with her last drinking partner. Shawna sipped in silent solidarity as a door slammed above.

”Honest to gods, the nerve of that boy…” Ariel grumbled as the picture frames fell off the wall.

Ariel had never wanted Kavi to change. While it was true she didn’t particularly care for the moments when he was being a dick, she had still come to love and accept him for the complete ass that he was. Maybe Kavi trying to change wasn’t pressure from her, but pressure from himself instead. Maybe Kavi was the one fed up with himself being a douche. Regardless, their relationship was over. Stick a fork in it - done. She wouldn’t be apologizing this time, nor would she be paying for any of the damage that she had caused.

The rage inside of her was starting to dull now, the sadness trying to break through instead. Little did Kavi know that she was trying to change for him just like she was trying to change for her. She had been trying to pull herself out of her depression for months now due to her own self motivations, but what had really kept her motivated was Kavi. No one wanted to date a depressed piece of over reacting shit, so she had actually given effort into trying to be someone Kavi would want to be seen with. One of the happier, prettier girls. But just like most other things in her life that she tried to work on, their relationship had went up in smoke.

Storming down the stairs, Ariel was in the right mind to leave the party. In all reality however, she didn’t want to go home. She never really wanted to go home. Besides, the night was still young and there was plenty of alcohol left. And as luck would have it, it looked like her rage fueling angel was just where Ariel had left her.

Walking over to the drink table once more, she decided to pull up an empty chair this go around. ”Well that ended badly,” she commented sourly.

Shawna looked up from her own frustrations to see that the avenging Ariel had returned to the fueling station. She set her phone down and reached over to grab the bottle of vodka that her new friend had claimed earlier in the night, passing it to the girl who looked like she could use it. “Huh, I couldn’t really tell from the smashing sounds,” she remarked. “I always associated glass breaking with jubilation… or you know, some dumb hockey team losing a game.” The sarcasm slipped out of her drunken mouth before Shawna had a chance to correct its course. This probably wasn’t the time to make light of the situation. At least not with someone she met like 20 minutes ago, and who had clearly undergone some kind of trauma in the interim. “Sorry, didn’t mean to make jokes or anything. You all right, Ariel? It sounded as bad as you made it out to be.”

Taking the bottle graciously from Shawna, Ariel proceeded to take a few sips before speaking. By this point she had drank so much that the taste wasn’t even phasing her anymore.

”I…. Yeah. The breaking and smashing was all yours truly. I might have kinda sorta threw the playstation at his head,” she said casually. Taking a brief second to think about how that sounded, she shrugged. ”Maybe I overreacted. But maybe he shouldn’t have kissed April, ya know?”

Shawna’s eyebrows raised so much they disappeared under the bangs of her wig, but she nodded in agreement. At least the tone had been set, and it was a tone that Netflix had done a decent job preparing her for. “Yeah, that would have been smart to avoid that on his part. I mean, that was one expensive smooch from the results. Playstations run what, 400 dollars?” She raised her glass to Ariel. “I gotta say, I do like how you make a guy pay for his dumbass mistakes. Literally.”

Ariel nodded simply. ”Something like that, yeah. I also broke his smart TV and threw a judo trophy through his wall. As he would phrase it I’m ‘crazy’ and ‘have issues,’” she said, making more air quotes as she mocked her ex. ”Maybe I shouldn’t have overreacted like I did, Shawna, but I tried. I tried so fucking[p hard to be the person Kavi would want me to be and I ended up failing again. Like, I’m actually more pissed off at myself than I am him - not that you could ever tell it by looking in his bedroom, but.” Ariel shrugged and put the bottle to her lips once more. ”Sorry for coming to with all of this, by the way.”

These feelings Ariel expressed were feelings Shawna knew all too well. Feelings she told Kellie Anne about the day they first met. Feelings that Kellie expressed to her. Right down to the apology. Who knew she would become the school confessional? She could do her best to offer absolution to Ariel, at least on par with that of the alcohol passing her lips. But as a wise woman once told her, “There is no god. Only vodka.” There was no redemption here. But there was so much understanding.

“First of all, don’t apologize for speaking your truth. Ever,” she told the upright mermaid. “Second, you can’t be pissed at yourself for not being someone that someone else wants you to be. That is sooooo not about you. It’s about them. It’s not on you to take on that burden while trying to be yourself. Fuck, whatever gods are up there know that I tried to be that someone else for years. And you know what that got me, Ariel? A fucking mental breakdown that my parents took one look at, wrote off, and continued to press that shit life on me. They’re off perusing markets in fucking Thailand right now, that’s how much they gave a shit about me and my feelings! So fuck them, and fuck Kavi! If they can’t handle the real versions of us, then they don’t get the pleasure of our company or our attention! Whiskey was an angry drink and it was clear Shawna was starting to work herself up on both her own frustrations and Ariel’s. “And third, I am sorry for misunderestimating your ability to make people pay. You did not overreact for a second. You didn’t deserve being called out like that, and you didn’t deserve being made a fool of like that. So you were totally justified. Beyoncé would be proud.”

While Beyonce wasn’t one of her idols, Ariel would have to agree with Shawna’s statement. Something told her that the events of tonight could have inspired some sort of angry breakup song. ”I’m sorry the people in our life suck ass,” Ariel responded. ”On the bright side though, at least I made a new friend.”

Shawna smiled as bright as the jewels that adorned the various necklaces and bracelets in her costume. “Hey, me too! How about that?” She clinked Ariel’s vodka bottle with her cup and toasted what she assumed was their shared new friendship. If not, she could always refer to her welcoming Aaliyah back into her life as a friend and not a quiz bowl teammate instead. But there was a solid connection here, at least she thought. It wasn’t the red-hot passionate connection that her and Kellie Anne had shared that day in her bedroom. Instead it was a solid chill connection, one that could be as simple as sharing a drink in a spot like this. Kinda like what she had with Sunshine so far, but even more relaxed. Ariel just seemed like a good hang, especially since the boy problems were now permanently dealt with from the sounds of things.

A thought crossed Shawna’s mind. “Oh yeah, you never did tell me what your costume was. I mean, I can keep making guesses based on the red hair, but I’m probably not gonna be anywhere close.”

”Enaia Jin,” Ariel said matter of factly. ”She’s a character from on or my favorite singers latest concept albums. Dystopian worlds, cute girls making music videos, good music. I figured it was a cool costume that I didn’t have to worry about anyone else wearing.”

The crown bobbled as Cleopatra nodded. “Yup, nowhere close. Not even sure how to spell that!” She took another sip of her drink that was now starting to run dangerously low. Another bottle of whiskey would need to be discovered and fast. “So, Ariel, now that you have earned your freedom with a breathtaking display of destruction that would make Set beam with pride, what are you going to do now?”

Ximena;s smile withered away just as quickly as it blossomed; the sudden appearance of one ghastly looking girl had shattered her mood. With a hint of annoyance and a subtle vein popping through her skin, Ximena had found herself with a drink and finishing it within the next few seconds. Whatever miss little emo mermaid had to offer was of the same significance as trash in this instance, but what Ximena had to offer was quite the morsel. Like a runway model, the diva strutted her stuff towards Shawna to reveal the oh so heartbreaking news. If this had been a play there would be two glaring spotlights on the two of them, ready for the tension to break.

Once she arrived by Ariel and Shawna’s side, she gave Shawna quite the serendipitous smile, “Oh hi Shawna, or should I say Cleopatra. I didn’t know there was more than one Queen here tonight. You must have snuck in through a rug like you did with Caesar.” She turned her head to face Ariel which made her face grimace in disgust, clutching her bag as if Ariel were petty enough to take it, “Oh..and you. I’m sorry, what are you supposed to be? Well doesn’t matter now anyways. Run along, the Pharaoh and I have some business to discuss,” she said, waving her hand off at Ariel, mouthing the words bye bye.

Whoever this new girl thought she was, it didn’t matter to Ariel. ”I…. Nah. I’m good. I quite like this chair, I don’t take orders from bitches and it appears that I’ve drank so much funny juice that my legs won’t work. So unless Cleo wants me to leave, you can say whatever it is in front of me.”

As Ximena ambled up to the spot the two had staked out for themselves, Shawna was a little leery of what her fellow student may try. There was precious little whiskey left, or so she thought. However, it was clear that this Audrey Hepburn wasn’t here for comedic purposes. From the way she was dismissing Ariel, it looked like she wanted some drama, unaware of Enaia’s disaster movie-level of destruction earlier. Ariel wasn’t going anywhere, and Shawna appreciated that.

“I’m afraid that if we have business to discuss, I will need my advisor present,” Cleopatra answered, gesturing towards the redhead. “Can’t be making a bad business decision at this point in the evening. Not without my other advisor present.”

If her eyes rolled any further back into her skull, she would have seen her brain with the amount of nerve this girl had. What was it about girls these days who felt so entitled that they could just get away with what they wanted? Ariel’s voice turned into a blur of sounds that weren’t really coherent as she judged the girl’s nonexistent self-care routine and her ratchet looking costume. She sighed in retort, “If only your legs really didn’t work, then I could wheel you out of here myself.” Ximena was about to press on when she was cut short by Shawna’s interaction. Turning her attention to face Shawna, she spoke. “Listen preciosa, I’m just going to be up front with you. It seems like Max, your god of war, was jumping Kellie’s bones and by the sound of it, he was giving it to her pretty good.”

Shawna came very close to spitting out alcohol. Very close. She managed to swallow her sip. “Excuse me?!?” she asked incredulously.

It took Ariel a moment to register what was going on, narrowing her eyes in suspicion as she spoke. ”I don’t like you….,” she said slowly, turning to Shawna. ”I don’t like her.”

Instinctively, Ximena pulled her purse up to her face in attempts to shield her face from the sputum about to cover both her and Ariel. Luckily for her, Shawna had better control over her reflexes than most people. “That one definitely burned more than the others I’m guessing. I know you think I’m lying, and you know, 9/10 times and normally you would be right. I mean, I am that bitch you know, ay por dios. I can’t help that I’m popular,” Ximena shrugged while smirking, Ariel only proving her point by her snide comments. “Pero, when I was getting to leave after Aiden stormed out, I caught Kellie and Max heading to one of the empty rooms. All he asked was if she was sure it's what she wanted, and she really did want it. If you don’t believe me, you might be able to go up there and catch them in the act, but I’m not sure how much of your man you want to see.”

Shawna did her best to maintain control over her actions as well as she maintained it over her drinking. At least in one regard. She didn’t want to admit it, but she was worried now. The lack of responses from Kellie Anne were now starting to become more sinister. Was Ximena telling the truth? Then again, the fact that she thinks Max was Shawna’s man proved that she may be focusing on the wrong person in this situation.

Cleopatra composed herself and leaned back against her chair, crossing her legs and holding her glass aloft. “The Pharaoh thanks you for your service in bringing this to her attention,” she proclaimed as royally as she could muster. Shawna waived towards the still-bountiful alcohol table that would serve as her royal treasury, Kavi be damned. “Please, help yourself to any number of the bottles of liquid gold you see before you, as a reward for your honesty.”

Whether Shawna would take her truth as facts was left to her. Ximena’s reputation wasn’t exactly the most prestigious and a lot of people were quite blasé about her all together. Regardless, Ximena never had any reason to lie at least within good reason. “I thank you for your audience, Cleopatra. You know people might not like me, but you aren’t one of my targets. No need for you to be in my crosshairs, well at least for now anyways. Good luck with your love triangle,” she waved goodbye to Shawna and shot a disapproving glare to Ariel before she made her way to get some more drinks. The party was starting to settle down, Ximena’s cue to vacate the premises.

”I don’t think she likes me either,” Ariel said thoughtfully. ”Do you think she was telling the truth?”

Shawna relaxed forward in her chair. Her mind was starting to reel a bit, thinking over everything Ximena had said. There was a fair amount of detail in her story, spotting Max going into another room and all. Max was definitely promiscuous enough from Kellie’s description to be trying to nail someone at a party like this. But Kellie was so hurt by him. So distraught on the day her and Shawna met. So remorseful during their talk in the library. She wouldn’t have gone back to him like this, would she?

But it was Max that Ximena was focused on for some reason. Max, that stupid, sex-hungry asshole. Thinking that Shawna would be interested in Max. Eww.

Was it possible that she only saw Max and what she guessed was Kellie? Did Ximena know the costume Kellie was wearing? There were a lot of dark-haired girls at the party. Hell, Shawna was one of them for the night. Yeah. It had to be someone else. There was no way Kellie would do that. Not after the moments they shared.

Cleopatra took another sip of her whiskey and sighed. “I don’t think I do. I mean, it just can’t be, right? That kind of shit doesn’t happen like that? That whole ‘I’m bad for you, you’re bad for me, on-again, off-again’ bullshit. People aren’t actually like that, right?”

Ariel pursed her lips. ”I mean, you literally just described me and Kavi, but no, people aren’t like that. Not nice, normal people like you anyway,” she said, taking another sip of her drink.

That last remark earned a chuckle from her drinking partner. “I’m not sure how normal I am anymore,” Shawna told her. “I just… I can’t believe Kellie would do that. We talked about that shit. Talked for a while. I can’t believe she would go back to that manslut.”

”I mean, I don’t know what the whole situation is, but I would at least suggest talking to her, yeah? Like just say ‘hey there’s a rumor going around about this’ or something. I dunno. This alcohol is starting to taste like water.”

Shawna nodded. Ariel was making sense. Talking to Kellie was the best option. At least, when she figured out where Kellie was. At least Ariel was still here. “Yeah, I think you’re right. About both things. I can’t even taste the coke in this anymore.” She drained the rest of her cup with a flourish. “Guess I’m not driving home, that’s for sure.

”I don’t think a lot of people will be, honestly. Maybe we should call an Uber or something?”

“Yeah, that sounds like a good idea.” Shawna thought for a second. “My car is going to be safe here, right? No one’s going to try and smash it up or something?” She didn’t want to imply this was a bad part of town, but she heard the rumors about Homecoming in the hallways after those stupid assemblies.

”You didn’t piss off Marisol, so I think you’re good.”

“Sweet.” Cleopatra finally abdicated her throne, hoisting herself up and over to the booze table to grab a couple of souvenirs. She wasn’t really a gin drinker… or a schnapps drinker, but she had to do her part to get revenge for her new friend. “Think we can take these lovely parting gifts and head out pretty soon then, if you want to split the cost.”

”Sure,” the drunken badass said, slightly struggling to get out of her chair. ”I think I leave some of the treasure here though. It’s probably best if I don’t drink for a while.”

Shawna shrugged. “Eh, I may need some in the future. Kavi can pay for a future night of commiserating. Do you want to call the car? You can add my number while you’re at it?”

”Good idea. You gotta keep me updated on this whole situation anyway, and I feel like we might need a lot of these therapy sessions in the future.”

“Hey, at least we will be well prepared, Ariel. Let’s get out of here.” Shawna stuffed the bottles in the bag she brought her wine in and pointed towards the door.

An @Altered Tundra, @HaleyTheRandom, & @verzehren Collaboration featuring Stella Lambert, Oliver Greyson, and Millie Jean Nicholson

Stella and Oliver both found themselves in an interesting position. Between how hesitant Stella was to admit her feelings to him and how Oliver was equally as uncertain in coming forward when they finally did it, they didn’t know what that meant. They both agreed they liked each other but there was still something about them -- at least from Stella’s side of things -- that gave her some doubt. This feeling of having someone who cared for who she was and not her body was a foreign feeling that she had a difficult time getting used to.

As they walked around, their hands connected and unintentionally drawing attention towards them, Stella could only do what she knew how to do in situations like these: put on a smile and pretend that the whispers didn’t make her anxiety spike up.

Just keep calm and smile forward She urged herself.

Stella’s pace slowed a bit. This happened when she felt anxious, but just as her legs were about to completely give up on her, she hadn’t realized that she had tugged Oliver into a collision. “I’m so sorry!” She immediately apologized. Only a moment later after the person she bumped into had turned around did Stella realize who it was. “Millie Jean!” Her usual screeching voice met Millie as Stella’s right arm left the comfort of Oliver and wrapped around Millie in a warm, if not tight, embrace.

It was too close for comfort, really, but how could Millie Jean tell her friend (that she had ghosted months prior) that their physical proximity was both unnerving as it was anxiety-inducing. Instead of waxing poetic about how she might spiral into a never-ending swirl of panic, Millie Jean just patted Stella’s back with a forced smile.

“Hi, Stella.” Millie Jean glanced awkwardly at the other person, whose name she couldn’t quite recall right now.

The excitement of seeing her again had gotten out of Stella’s control that she had squeezed just a little too tight. It might’ve been a second or two too long, but she eventually let go and saw the hint of a small smile on Millie’s face. At the very least, she was smiling, but damn it! She hadn’t seen her in a while. It didn’t go unnoticed by Stella. There might have been a lot happening in Stella’s life with Oliver, her family coming and going as they pleased, and her extracurriculars, Stella still made an effort to stay in touch with her friends even if a couple of them became too busy for one reason or another.

And this applied to Millie Jean too. Stella understood if there were things that she had to do, but Stella was always there for her if the girl ever needed her. “How have you been? I feel like we haven’t seen much of each other since the senior year began.” For a moment, Stella nearly forgot her manner. “Oh and this is Oliver. He’s my, well, uh.” She turned to Oliver. They hadn’t had much time to talk about what name they were going to put on their relationship. And the more she thought about it. “Oliver is my boyfriend!” She declared proudly, squeezing his hand. The more she thought about it, the more it made sense to call him what he was to her: her boyfriend.

Millie Jean’s eyebrow twitched and she suppressed the need to raise it - she wondered if Oliver had known that until just now because the word seemed to have been conjured abruptly. The girl crossed her arms across her chest, before uncrossing them upon realizing her stance was a tad bit defensive. Her therapist says she should avoid making physical gestures that provides a barrier between her and other people; Millie Jean told her therapist she could stuff it (except she didn’t, but she certainly thought it).

“Well,” Millie Jean stuttered, mind racing to think up a decent reply, “I’ve just been busy, I guess. Taking care of, er, the cats and the butterflies and fish and stuff. Um, and you? I mean, you are obviously doing very well, boyfriend and all. Hi, Oliver.” She waved slightly at Oliver, the gesture awkward and unnatural.

“Mmm..” Stella hummed, nodding, “yeah, I guess I am. School has been hectic, especially cheerleading. Chanel’s taken over captain duties and she’s been making sure we got our routines down perfectly. That and my family being their usual selves, I guess things have been all right.” Even though Stella wished things were less stressful when she glanced briefly to Oliver, she realized that things weren’t as bad as she thought. At least now she could lean on him if things became too difficult.

Millie Jean witnessed the brief flicker of Stella’s eyes and felt almost like an intruder. Strange, considering she was in the middle of a party surrounded by multiple people in a house that was not her own, and she might actually be an intruder if Kavi didn’t have permission from his parents. The feelings she had been pushing down hit her all at once, and maybe so did the alcohol.

“Fuck,” Millie Jean said, her voice strangled by acidic spit on the back of her tongue, “I think I have to go. Sorry.”

Without another word, Millie Jean sped down the hallway, away from Stella and Oliver.

“I hope she’ll be okay,” Stella said, concerned. Her gaze lingered on Millie Jean until she went out of view and she turned to face Oliver. “I think I’m getting a little weary. You wanna get out of here? I did tell dad I wouldn’t be out too late. I know he likes you and all, but I don’t want to take advantage of his kindness, you know?”

Oliver had stood by Stella's side patiently as he often did, paying little attention to the conversation until Stella mentioned making an exit. ”No worries. Parties aren’t really my favorite thing and there’s a lot of drunkness going on. Let’s just make sure we get you home safe.”

By this point Guy had quite a bit to drink, Sunshine having plied him with delicious concotions. Not that it would take much to knock the six foot man on his ass, being that he had maybe drank alcohol one other time in his life. At a family event. With his tipsy mother’s permission. He scrubbed a hand over his face, knocking his fake glasses askew as he made his way into the master bedroom. He just needed some place quiet for a minute.

He sat on the bed, flopping back into the decadent sheets with his arms splayed out. He really wished the world would stop trying to wiggle out from beneath him. His mind was a dangerous place, plucking at emotions and heart strings like a two year old on a stradivarius. A drunken poet’s mind. Ha! There was naught left to do but quote the master -

“When in the chronicle of wasted time
I see descriptions of the fairest wights,
And beauty making beautiful old rhyme
In praise of ladies dead, and lovely knights,
Then, in the blazon of sweet beauty’s best,
Of hand, of foot, of lip, of eye, of brow,
I see their antique pen would have express’d
Even such a beauty as you master now.
So all their praises are but prophecies
Of this our time, all you prefiguring;
And, for they look’d but with divining eyes,
They had not skill enough your worth to sing:
For we, which now behold these present days,
Had eyes to wonder, but lack tongues to praise.”

His deep voice rumbled out the sonnet in a drunken slur. When he finished he heard a noise from the direction of the bathroom. He sat up a might too quickly and felt the world churn around him. He steadied himself on the bed, a hand against his head. “Is someone here?” he called. He stood and moved toward the bathroom door.

There was shuffling on the other side of the door before an exaggerated high-pitched tone called out, Ocupado!

Aiden giggled hysterically afterward and stumbled out of the bathroom, almost tripping over his own feet. Guy was surprised by this and stumbled backward, knocking back down onto the bed. There was a red solo cup in Aiden’s hand with crystal clear content sloshing around. (And only a fool would think it was water) “You have nice words, dude. You know who else has nice words? Fuckin’ Kanye West. You like cool old Ye-We?”

Aiden jumped onto the bed and bounced a few times, next to where he was splayed out. The movement made Guy's stomach roll. The way he talked to Guy was almost like they had already been conversing for an hour and Guy just hadn’t happened to be present. Aiden patted Guy’s hand, “Of course, of course you like Ye-We.”

To be honest, Aiden didn’t really know how he had gotten here. He had gotten into that fight with Sawyer, wandered off to sniff out his usual drug dealer, and then he ended up here. This was pretty typical of him.

Sitting up, Guy glanced at the hand which touched his. Surprise colored his features. He wasn't opposed to the touch, rather it was the freedom with which he was touched. Twice now. People who drank seemed to be quite physical (and talkative.) And, apparently, when Guy drank he didn't mind.

"Thank you," he said softly, unsure of how else to respond. He certainly didn't know what a 'Ye-We' was nor was he keen on finding out. "It was Shakespeare." Despite his level of intoxication he was glad to know he managed to keep his speech clear and his diction impeccable. First-timers luck and loads of practice for the stage.

"So…" Aiden drawled, "If you're so good with those fancy words, you must be good with talkin' and stuff? What I'm sayin' is: what dat mouf do?"

Aiden waggled his eyebrows dramatically, then laughed at himself because he knew he was the funniest person in the world. The red solo cup was still full and Aiden downed it in one go, watching the boy from the corner of his eye. It was hard to read him when his vision was a little blurry on the sides, but he tried to concentrate to see how the other reacted to Aiden's words. Aiden didn’t want to come onto someone when they weren’t feeling it. He may not have been the most decent person around, but he was not a total scumbag like that.

Guy coughed, surprise catching up his throat. His eyes widened and a hot flush spread over his cheeks. While the other boy drank his mysterious liquid, Guy looked down at his own knees as he brushed his hair back from his face. Was it just him or was it getting quite warm in here? "Well," he finally responded. Well what? His brain was all foggy and he was having trouble thinking straight. But the boy next to him sure was cute though. "That's a big question," he finished. "What would you like it to do?"

“You look - fuck, what’s that word - frastered - no, flu-flustered!” Aiden grinned, proud of his cleverness. “You look flustered. Do I make you nervous?”

Guy lifted his face so that his eyes could meet Aiden’s. He wasn’t entirely sure how to respond to that. He was having trouble responding to much of anything really. “A little I guess,” he finally said with a lopsided grin. “I’m Guy.” He reached out a hand to shake Aiden’s. It was getting hot in here, wasn’t it?

Aiden supposed it was rather normal to exchange names in this kind of situation. He was never good with remembering names (or faces), so he stopped asking a while ago. After this party, he really should sit back and reevaluate his life choices if drinking and sleazing his way through the school's population had become common behavior. He wouldn’t though.

"Hi, Guy." Aiden drawled, scooting closer to Guy and placing his arm around him. He wasn't touching Guy, not yet, but he hovered oh so close. "I'm Aiden. But people call me the Wine-and-Dine Man, 'cause I'm a 5-star restaurant."

The closeness caused Guy to lean back slightly for a moment, as it was rather unexpected. However, he could not say that the way his heart started to thump at a rapid tempo was uncomfortable and he found himself leaning closer to Aiden. He laughed at the other boy’s joke as he removed his coat and tossed it to the floor. “I think I’ll stick to Aiden. A Celtic sun god. Fiery. Very befitting,” he said lazily.

"Huh. Well, you learn something new every day." He moved in closer, his breath a whisper against Guy's lips.

Aiden reached over Guy's lap and caged him with his arms. His lips hovered over his newfound friend, but he didn't close the distance. Instead, he waited for Guy to make the move, to finish what Aiden started.

For a split second his body tensed in panic. Another man was very, VERY close to him. A portion of his brain, the rational part that listened very carefully to dad’s homophobia screamed at him to leave. However, the drunken, emotional part of his brain longed for touch. The hot breath which touched his lips had an odd but not unpleasant scent to it. His body relaxed and he gave in as he leaned into Aiden. His lips lightly brushed across his as his hand reached up to rest lightly on Aiden’s neck.

Aiden returned the kiss with fervor, molding his lips against Guy's before moving down to press open-mouth kisses to his neck and collarbone. His palm kneaded into Guy's hip, but his hands stayed relatively above the belt. Hesitancy radiated from the other and Aiden didn't want to push more than Guy was willing to give. Still, he let his fingers tug slightly at the hem of his sweater to see if Guy would be willing to take his shirt off.

The energy Aiden instilled into the kisses caused Guy’s breath to catch. He leaned his head back to allow Aiden better access to his neck and then helped to remove the sweater to reveal with white tank beneath. He was getting awfully warm and so the cool, air-conditioned air on his bare skin felt divine. The kisses Aiden placed over him left a trail of fire in their wake. Guy pressed closer, catching up Aiden’s lips with his own. His kisses were languid and lazy, adding a slow heat to the moment. This wasn’t a race after all and he enjoyed the way his new friend tasted.

Aiden slid his yellow shirt off with ease, muscle memory keeping his arms from tangling up, and tossed the t-shirt into the nether of the room. He followed Guy's pace, slowing down, his teeth occasionally catching Guy's lip playfully. In return Guy licked Aiden’s upper lip with the tip of his tongue. One of his hands came up to cradle Guy's jaw in his hand, his fingers tugging slightly at the strands of his hair.

The hand in his hair caused Guy to release a quiet moan of pleasure which surprised him. He pulled back and looked into Aiden’s face with some confusion covering his own. His mouth then split into a lopsided grin and he laughed lightly at himself. “Wow,” he breathed. “I need to cool down a second.” He was getting overly hot. It turned out it wasn’t the room but he who was generating all of this heat. He stood on shaky drunken legs, almost fell back into the bed but managed to steady himself. Turning to Aiden he placed his hands on his cheeks and a soft kiss on the boy’s forehead as he said, “I will be right back.”

He made his way to the bathroom with little incident. The plan had been to splash some water onto his face and take a breath. However, drunk feet were not graceful. He tripped over the bathmat, tried to hang onto the shower curtain for support, ended up taking the shower curtain down as he fell into the tub. His booted foot hit the handle for the faucet and sent cold water streaming out of the showerhead down onto the fallen archaeologist. Wrapped up in a curtain, water spilling over his face, and one leg hanging out of the tub, Guy lay there in a haze of drunken confusion. What the hell had just happened?

Aiden pouted at Guy’s back, his lip jutting out childishly. Just as things were starting to get good, Guy had to retreat. Well, things could be worse, Aiden supposes. He could not make out at all and wouldn't that be a shame. He was content to stay on the bed and maybe doze off eventually, but a racket drew him to the bathroom.

"Well, isn't this a pretty sight!" Aiden said jovially, winking multiple times with such exaggerated enthusiasm he looked to be having a seizure.

Guy turned wide, shocked eyes upon the boy he had just been kissing. A hot blush coated his cheeks as he worked to untangle himself from the shower curtain. “I was attacked!” he said with humor. He was feeling rather playful. Sure his back hurt a bit and he was drenched but… He was in a better mood than he’d been earlier. “Help me up?” He reached out a hand to Aiden.

Aiden eyed Guy’s hand with a mischievous eyebrow raise and a mock-thinking pose, “What do I get if I help you up?” He leaned forward, his hands bracing his body against the lip of the tub.

A charming grin spread across Guy’s features as he leaned upward, his face less than a foot away from Aiden’s. “A whirlwind romance,” he responded huskily as he moved his hand around the back of Aiden’s neck. He closed the distance and feathered a kiss across the boy’s lips. Leaning back slightly so that he could see the other boy’s brown and bloodshot hues, the charming smile turned to dastardly rake. He pressed his lips harder against Aiden’s, dropping a bit of fire into the touch before he pulled the young man into the tub on top of him. “I suppose we could just stay here too.”

“I was hoping for some chocolate or maybe a beer,” Aiden laughed, breathing the words onto Guy’s lips, “But this works, too.”

His hand gripped the nape of Guy’s neck and slid their lips together like a jigsaw puzzle. A buzzing thought in the back of his mind wondered if they would melt from the warmth that was creeping along his spine. Aiden always was a summer kind of guy, so he pulled Guy as close to him as possible and relished in the feeling of searing heat.

The rough kisses sent shockwaves through his nervous system. He was glad of the lukewarm water which was flowing over the pair. It made flesh slippery and Guy was very much enjoying letting his fingers rove over the other boy’s musculature. In between the kisses, he responded, “Whatever you desire. I would bring you a star if it pleased you.” His foggy brain had stopped providing any sort of filter for his thoughts. As a true romantic, this encounter would be treated with exquisite attention. Aiden would be the only person in his world for a time and he would be damn sure that his every whim come true.

He brushed kisses along Aiden’s jaw as his poet’s brain began to do as it often did - “She walks in beauty, like the night,” his low voice was a rumble as he spoke the words against the boy’s skin. His lips moved down his neck, ghosting kisses and playful nips punctuating his words. “Of cloudless climes and starry skies,” Gentle kisses over his collarbone. “And all that’s best of dark and bright meet in her aspect and her eyes.” He drew back a moment and looked up at Aiden before he took the boy’s hand in his. “Thus mellowed to that tender light which heaven to gaudy day denies.” He kissed the inside of his wrist, careful and light before licking the spot and dragging his teeth over the sensitive flesh.

“Careful, you could make a guy fall in love.” Aiden whispered, before gently pushing Guy away and climbing out of the bathtub. Having someone wax poetry to you was quite the sensual experience, but it also seemed intimate in a way that made Aiden’s skin crawl. Like he was taking advantage of an unsuspecting victim. It was time he got the hell out of there, to be honest before this went too far too quick for Guy and his poor sappy heart.

I think it’s time for another beer.” Aiden smiled, though it didn’t reach his eyes, “Maybe I’ll see you at school.” Or maybe he wouldn’t. Most likely he wouldn’t.

It was late. How late? Kavi had no idea but as he opened up his eyes, sprawled on the couch in the foyer, and rays of morning light had forced him to scrunch his face. He groaned as he had slowly arisen from the couch. His back ached. Oh God, how every inch of it felt like it was twisted and distorted from the inside. Just him standing up forced some of his joints to crack. And boy did it feel good. Groaning more, Kavi slowly took the time to bend his back both forward and backward, his arms doing the same. Every joint that would crack did and there was nothing more relaxing than hearing the stress release from every inch of his torso.

Slowly his attention turned to the house and the carnage that remained. His head was throbbing, which was probably from all of the alcohol and not enough water he consumed last night. The last thing he remembered was sharing a bottle of vodka with Mac and passing out. Remembering anything past that resulted in Kavi drawing a big blank and only making his headache even worse.

His feet had moved slowly through the wreckage of empty cups, some of the partygoers who didn’t quite make it to their cars laid out against the wall. He went to the fossit and grabbed a cup nearby, getting himself some somewhat cool water to drink. The taste of it going down his throat did a lot to make him feel a little better, but it still wasn’t exactly what he needed.

As he sipped the water, he saw someone who was half laid out upon the tipped over beer pong table that had made its way into the house, he shook his head. “Rough night?”

“Where am I?” The male asked, looking at Kavi with a confused glance.

“You’re at my house.” He responded with as much energy he had to spare, which was to say, it wasn’t a lot.

The teen looked even more confused.

“Go home, Brad.” Kavi shook his head, trying not to chuck the cup at Brad’s head. The last thing he needed was for that homophobe in his house.

He heard about Bradley Leone. Kavi didn’t play Lacrosse but that didn’t stop the whispers and these whispers often spoke about how Bradley had an unnatural hatred for anyone who wasn’t straight. He didn’t understand. Kavi wasn’t the most pleasant person around, he knew that, but his douchebaggery ended at bullying. Kavi never once resorted to being the homophobic kind of bully. When he had gone down that particular rabbit hole, Kavi had never attacked someone for who they loved. His sister was gay. How was he going to ever be able to look her in the eyes if he judged someone for being who they are? He simply pushed people around for being short or Jewish like his old pal Elijah. Kavi often wondered what happened to Sholamijah. Maybe he shouldn’t call him that.

Kavi thought about it and shrugged shortly after as he downed the rest of his water. “I guess I should start cleaning. They’ll be home later on today and I don’t want to explain why there are so many empty cups around. They did, after all, say no parties.” He laughed as he began to bag the trash. “Yet another thing I’ll probably be grounded for if they find out.”

Location // King's Academy Campus Quad
Interactions // Nikki Salvador (NPC); Ariel and Marisol (sees them)
Time & Date // 11:30AM-12:30PM (Lunch Hour) | October 29th, 2018

Kavi Salvador’s Halloween Party was the talk of the town.

Or at least those who attended and had a front-row seat to the multi-layered carnage throughout the entire evening. And there was a lot of sequels to said carnage. What had started as a simple get together among the senior class who attended King’s Academy soon became a verbal bloodbath as well as non-violent destruction of property. And those at the center of the chaos sure felt the full force of it. Santiago was outed of being a father, Kavi’s short make-out session with April Foster was broadcasted all over social media (and thus him being dumped by an irate Ariel Grey), Sonny and his band of Misfits pounded the shit out of Bradley Leone.

And that was just a small handful of those who found themselves forced into one situation or another that was created by someone at one point. It was truly a sight to see.

“What are you reading?” Nikki asked Kavi.

“Just some idiot with a blog.”

He was on his phone, reading a blog post posted by someone identifying themselves as “The Royal Reporter”. It was a blog site that came to his attention soon after homecoming when he was arrested and karma slowly getting back at him for his past deeds. All of those who he bullied, all of those he dated and didn’t treat right. Part of Kavi wanted to find this person and teach hem a lesson. If it was up to Mac, she’d probably tell him to do it and flip them off while he beat the shit out of them, but if Ariel was here, she probably wanted him to rise above it and find a way to better himself. Two devils on his shoulder who decided to take the lunch hour off.

And now, as he turned around, he was confused by something. “Wait, why the hell are you hanging around with me? Don’t you have friends or something?” Kavi asked her. She usually hated being around him.

“Fuck off. Don’t you remember what mom said this morning? You have to babysit me today cause she and dad are gonna be in Miami for a conference dad has for an expansion of the Shore Shack.”

With everything happening, it slipped his mind and he silently cursed himself. “Okay, well sorry to disappoint you but I’ve made plans today, but I’m sure you can find something to do. Palm Beach is a big town. Go get into trouble for a few hours and just leave me the hell alone, okay?”

She rolled her eyes. “You’re such a selfish ass!” Nikki huffed as she would stomp herself away and leave Kavi with the repeated insult he seemed to be receiving as of late.

So there he was, sitting in the quad with his lunch tray full of a compete for lunch but he didn’t have the appetite for it. His mind was just still stuck on basically everything that happened in the past fourty-eight hours. He lost his girlfriend and got drunk with Mac. Whispers of Brad getting beat up by Marisol and Sonny in drag did bring a smile to his face, but that didn’t last long.

He quickly sighed, looking over to his left and he saw, of all people, Marisol and Ariel walking somewhere. His first reaction was curiosity. Why were they seen within one-hundred miles of each other? Last he remembered, there was some unspoken beef between them. Something about Marisol never wanting to be anywhere Ariel was and Ariel never telling him exactly what went down between them. So seeing them together made him even more curious and even gave him the thought to follow them.

But he didn’t. Kavi decided against it and stayed at the table he had been sitting at as he kept staring down at his food, thinking about Nikki’s words to him (among other things), kind of just waiting for the lunch hour to end.

For Sunday morning's cute #fieldwood sorting out, tune in to @Moro's post
Texts sent to: Carter and Max

Georgie had a huge smile on her face as she slowly piled her books up on a shelf in her locker. This morning had been...well...She touched her lips and grinned into her hand. She was feeling beyond over the moon with everything going on, and nothing could ruin her mood. She was just about finishing stowing her supplies in her locker when she felt a tap on her shoulder.

"Missed me?"

An even huger smile spread across her face as Georgie turned to face her best friend.

"Chrysler!" She wrapped her arms around him and pulled him in close. She'd missed having him around to talk to. Even though she had Gavin and all of her girl friends, Chrysler had always been by her side no matter what and he wasn't stuck in the middle of some petty drama like all of the rest of them undoubtedly were. He'd always been a constant. And if anyone knew Georgie well enough, they knew she always appreciated constants in her life.

"I've heard all about your Sawyer antics from secret sources. Well...?" Chrysler was bouncing on the heels of his feet, his eyes filled with obvious happiness for his friend.

"We can talk about that later... Georgie winked at her friend as he led her towards the lunch room.

"Well, at least tell me what's up with Max! You've been quite the busy bee, no?"

"My god, Chrys! Let's not get into all that boy stuff...for instance, you can ask instead: Hey, Georgie! How is your entry for the photo competition going?"

"Okay then." He chuckled before continuing "How is your entry for the competition, Georgia?"

"Well, if you must know Chrysler. I think I've done a pretty good job with my entry. In fact, I've chosen the picture of Max to use as my entry. A candid shot at a beautiful location...I like it. And hopefully, it wins. Of course, I'd have to ask Max for permission but I really don't think he'd mind... " Georgia rambled as she set off walking down the hallway, Chrysler taking long lunges to catch up with her.

Chrysler smiled slyly and wiggled his eyebrows at her. Georgia returned the gesture by shaking her head and rolling her eyes at what her best friend had implicitly suggested. She quickly grabbed his arm and dragged him past the cafeteria doors, into the crowd of students surging towards the cafeteria tables.

As they lined up for the crappy standard excuse that the school called food, Georgie put a hand into her pocket and drew out her phone, deciding to send off a few texts so that her thoughts wouldn't weigh too heavily on her mind.

To: CARTER N.

GEORGIA F.: hey, i swiped your number off of my friend but again...i really did appreciate you helping me out Saturday night, both with 🤮 and 🚗

GEORGIA F.: again this is probably weird as hell but i'm always up for a favor...anything you need :)

To: MAX W.

GEORGIA F.: hey, it's georgie. i was just wondering if it'd be okay to use the picture i took of you the other day as an entry to a photo competition?

She put her phone away as she grabbed a tray and sat down at one of the tables with Chrysler. Georgie wasn't sure if she should even wait and look for Sawyer but she was sure he wouldn't mind her sitting with someone else. Her stomach grumbled and Georgie stuffed a sandwich into her mouth. She listened as the other people around her table talked of the party and all of what happened there. She didn't know a lot about the other friend circles that weren't her own but from what she was hearing it seemed like they were all up to their own antics and drama. Ones that she didn't want to be too involved in.

Sawyer quickly pushed out of the classroom and fell in with the crowd that moved their way towards the lunch hall and the quad, his eyes searching the sea of students for a few faces. It wasn't long before the boy was nearly knocked to his knees from behind, tackled by his two best friends. Jack Donovan and Kol Halliday.

"LOCKWOOD!" the boys called out obnoxiously loud.

Sawyer smirked at his friends and shoved them both away from him with a laugh, readjusting his grip on his lacrosse stick and helmet. "Boys," was all Sawyer managed before he was interrupted by said boys.

"Lock, we still running drills for lunch?" Jack asked as he peeked around Kol.

"Yeah, man. We need to make up for the slack this weekend. What with the recovery time after that party at Kavi's." Jack and Kol exchanged a look and smirked as they low-fived each other. It had been discussed that the two of them had gotten lucky that night, and Sawyer, well.. he got thrown up on. Which had been an extensive joke over the weekend. Lockwood was surprised it wasn't the topic of the hour. They were never going to let him live it down. Sawyer'd shared some other details about the night. Not the proclamations of love, but the drunk kiss and the morning to follow. Although the morning after the party's details were kept vague, he let the boy's imaginations take them wherever they thought the morning had gone. Of course, boys will be boys. Sawyer let them believe him and Georgie had done more than just kiss and cuddle. It was a lot easier than telling them the truth and getting teased about him being the only one in the group who hadn't gotten laid over the weekend. Ignorance is bliss, I guess.

"Yeah, and what with Fockwood going on all day yesterday." Both the boys broke out in big ol' grins as they shoved Sawyer, roughing him around as they pushed their way out from the main building and into the quad. Sawyer didn't respond, he just pulled his helmet on and gripped his Lacrosse stick in both hands.

"You girls gonna stand there and talk all day, or what?"

Kol rolled his eyes and Jack flipped Sawyer off with a grin. "Should we see if ol' Maxy is up for it, today?"

'Ooh. Speaking of Max, that reminds me,' Sawyer thought to himself as he stuck his lacrosse stick under one arm and pulled out his phone, typing out a quick text.

Hey. So, uh.. is it true, about you and Wallenburg? G told me. Was just wondering if it was fr or not.
To: Kellz

"Umm, hello. Earth to Lockwood." Sawyer looked up to see both his friends staring at him with confused but curious looks.

"Sorry." Sawyer quickly tucked his phone away, looking at his teammates. "Long as he's not busy entertaining the ladies, I'm sure he'd be willing to join in."

The boys set off together with their new mission of finding their captain, Sawyer keeping a watchful eye out for Georgie. Partially because he wanted to see her, but also to keep the boys far away from her. Neither of them knew how to keep their mouths shut, and might end up saying something that'd upset her. Plus, he'd probably get teased for how 'soft' he acted around her. They'd probably go so far as to say he was 'whipped'. Pfft.

Sawyer sent out another text, this time to Max.

Hey, I got Jack and Kol with me. We were gonna go to the field and do some drills. Wya man? Interested?

“Thank you very much!” Max smiled at the portly lunch lady as he grabbed his lunch. He turned around to look for his cousin whom he had a very special lunch date with. But before he could spot him his phone buzzed violently on the tray. He sat down at the closest empty table and looked at the text message from Georgie. A wide smile spreading across his face as he read. Max’s head popped up as he finished reading looking around for Georgie. when he spotted her at a table with one of her friends he grabbed his tray and made his way over to their table.

“Can I finally call myself a real model then?” Max chuckled as put down his tray and crouched down folding his arms in front of Georgie. “You can use the picture if you think you will win with it and if you send me the pictures as you promised!” he smiled at her. “Deal?” he said tapping the table and stood up. “See you around!” he bid them farewell as he backed away.

In the farthest corner table in the cafeteria Archer sat nose down in his notebook scribbling away furiously shutting out the rest of the world. This weekends activities had left the boy in quite a funk. First his brother comes out of nowhere bringing up the darkest memories of his life and right after that he gets punched in the face… twice. But like always he gets saved by his friends they must be so tired of bailing him out. These are the thoughts that had swirled around in Archer’s head the last couple of nights. Writing it all down was the only thing that helped right now. Getting his thoughts out instead of keeping them in like he had done the last time.

“Heyo! Little cousin!” a burly voice called out from behind him. He recognized that jovial shout anywhere. It was a voice he had grown up with, his cousin Max.

Without turning around Archer drawled “Still older than you by two months Max.” . He closed his book and put it away in his bag as Max made his way around to sit across from Archer.

Max put on his signature grin “I mean in stature… I always mean in stature Archie!” he followed it up with that booming laugh of his. “So uh… do you have the… you know?” he whispered before clearing his throat as he looked down at his lunch.

The lanky teen just rolled his eyes and dove under the table yet again retrieving a blue folder. “Yeah, yeah. I have it. Keep your voice down will you?” Archie whispered as he slid the folder over to his cousin. “It’s not A+ material… but you know it has to look believable.” he sighed wincing bringing his hand up to his eyebrow where a big cut was visible. He ran a hand through his hair revealing his fresh shiner covering his right eye.

“This looks great Arch… I-” Max said flipping through the pages of the essay. He cut himself short when he caught sight of his cousin’s face. “What the hell happened to you?!” he exclaimed dropping the folder and leaning closer to Archer surveying his face.

Archer backed away a little before letting out another big sigh “Uhm, yeah well your boy Leone wasn’t as o.k with authenticity as you are. And you know he had problems with my lifestyle choices.” he said picking at his thumb nail. “But it’s over… don’t worry about it.”

The larger teen’s fists was balled up on the table in front of him. His blue eyes staring at his cousin, a blazing fire lit behind him. “Brad. Did this to you?” he said slowly “He beat you up? Because you’re… gay?” he continued breathing heavily.

“Yeah but M-max. It’s taken care of… Don’t-” Archer tried but his cousin had already whipped his phone out typing furiously.

“Emergency team meeting in 10 minutes on the field! Fail to be there douchebags and you’re kicked out of the team!”

Max sent out the message to the Lion’s group text chain and stood up “Fuck that, it is taken care of when I say it is taken care of!” he hissed as turned on his heel sprinting out of the cafeteria leaving Archer staring after him.

“So!” Max yelled out in front of his fellow players “I trust everyone had a great time Saturday!” he continued to a murmur of agreement and a few highfives. “Some might have had too much fun!” he locked eyes with Brad before he continued with his speech “It has come to my attention that my cousin got beat up. By one of you fuckers.” he looked around the team who had all fallen silent. “And I don’t take kindly to hate crimes. So if I hear of any of you motherfuckers touch him or any of his friends ever again, I will personally throw you out of this team. And now I know some of you can’t afford that.” he finished crossing his arms in front of him “Now fuck off!” he said before walking away.

Monday's school lunch consisted of the usual flavorless entrees that the King's Academy lunch ladies served to the student body every day. On Chanel's lunch tray in particular was a small cup of cold fish sticks, another cup of soggy and unsalted french fries, and a bottle of room temperature, raspberry flavored sparkling water. Even the ketchup that Chanel drowned her meal in didn't help it taste any better. "Trust me when I say that I love Michelle Obama," Chanel suddenly spoke up to the other young women who sat at their usual table. "But what the fuck was she thinking? I mean, I'd kill for a soda machine in this place... or salt packets. Or maybe even a bag of Hot Cheetos that aren't baked."

Although it had been a couple of days since Kavi Salvador's party, Chanel still felt a little off. I mean, who wouldn't after spending their entire Sunday morning puking up the contents of their stomach? Getting drunk and partying with friends had always been fun for Chanel. But it was the aftermath of said drinking that sometimes made her wish that she hadn't left her house at all. "God, how am I gonna get through practice and dance class this afternoon?" The young woman groaned to her friends as she took a reluctant bite from her ketchup coated fishstick. "No funny, but I feel like I'm slowly dying. And I don't think this food is helping me out." Okay, sure. Maybe she was being a little dramatic, but when had Chanel ever been one to not express how she was feeling?

"It's whatever though," the young woman said after finally giving up on her lunch and pushing the tray away from her. "I'm pretty sure we all feel a bit... off after what all happened on Saturday. Right? Shit was wild."

“Emergency team meeting in 10 minutes on the field! Fail to be there douchebags and you’re kicked out of the team!”
From: Wallenburg

Sawyer had stopped in his tracks in the middle of the quad as he read the recent message from his team captain. He exchanged a look with the boys once their eyes left their own phone screens to meet his, all three shaking their heads as they headed for the field as they had before.. not looking forward to it too much, this time around.

"Can't wait to hear what's Max's problem, now."

"Poor Maxy Pad. Must not have gotten enough, on Saturday." Kol laughed, Jack offering a bit of a smirk but Sawyer just eyed Kol.

"Okay, seriously Kol? If rumors are true him and Kel hooked up.. you know how I feel about Kellie. Sh-she and I are good friends. And more importantly, how Max feels about her. She's not just another conquest to him. Be a bit more respectful, yeah?"

Kol furrowed his eyebrows and readjusted his backpack shoulder strap before looking ahead and away from Sawyer's hard gaze, "Yes, dad."

Sawyer rolled his eyes, letting out a heavy sigh. "Whatever, man. Just be sure and shut up while Max rips us a new one for whatever we fucked up on this time."

As the boys made it to the field, they could see Max and half the team standing around on the green. Max looked as if he was fuming. This wasn't going to be good. The three boys greeted the rest of their team, shortly being followed by the last few members. Everyone fell silent when Max's voice boomed a 'So!', the air thick with tension which seemed to quickly defuse with the next sentence Max spoke to his players. Tripling with the following. Sawyer's eyes followed Max's till they found the target he'd locked on, his eyebrows furrowing. Brad.

He'd had a few run-ins with the guy off the field, which were never pleasant. One in particular, in which Brad had crossed Gavin's paths and had left both Lockwood brothers' having major dislike for the guy. Brad may not have been as bad as Aidan, in Sawyer's book, but he was up there with the other massive DBs of King's Academy's senior class.

Kol nudged Sawyer with his elbow, drawing his eyes over to his friend.

'What?' Sawyer mouthed.

Kol made a gesture with his hand, his facial expression reading as clear as if he'd spoken the words himself. What's his problem?

“It has come to my attention that my cousin got beat up. By one of you fuckers.”

Jack and Kol both looked around with extremely confused looks for a moment before they noticed Sawyer glaring at Brad. The two boys pieced it together, narrowing their eyebrows in vicious glances towards their fellow teammate while everyone else seemed to be clueless dumbshits. As if they didn't know.

Sawyer had heard about what had happened with Archer and Brad.. and Marisol, and Sonny. The rest of Max's rant left Sawyer with a bit more than a bad taste in his mouth. Not only for Brad, but for Max as well. Sure, the guy had some anger issues but to take one teammates off-the-field DB moments out on the whole team? That was some shit.

"Soooooo.. why not take it out solely on the guy who actually did it?" Kol held his arm out towards Brad, staring down Max's retreating back.

As much as Sawyer hated to admit it, Kol had his support on this one. Sawyer gave Kol a 'Shut the fuck up' look before stepping in front of his friends and a few other teammates, some dispersing to go about their lunch hour while some stayed behind. It took a lot for the boy to speak up next. Sawyer knew Max wasn't in a forgiving mood, and he was going to put his spot on the team on the line just as Kol (hopefully inadvertently) had.

"Max.. you know as well as I that family is important. And our team is like a family in itself," Sawyer gave the large, douchebag teammate of theirs a glance before looking back in Max's direction. "You know my brother is also... gay. And I would do anything for him, expecially if it came to some asshole taking shots at him. You know this. So, why give him a break?" He gestured over to Brad who seemed to be uber pissed off. "Just because he's on our team?! He's not acting like family, so what gives, man? You say you're not okay with hate crimes, yet you let him go? Was Marisol smacking him around enough retaliation for what he did to your cousin?"

There were moments of silence that followed, only to be broken by Jack mumbling under his breath. "Bro."

After Georgia, Gavin, and Sawyer had left she turned to Carter and offered him only a smile and a small thanks before she wandered off. She had set about cleaning up the vomit on the floor that Georgia had left behind. Once satisfied she had cleaned it up properly she sat by the poolside with a bottle of tequila and a cigarette constantly in her hands. She was one of the last to leave, not having realized the party had ended as she had been on her own most of the night. She left the mostly drunken bottle beside the chair and called a taxi to take her home.

Despite her horrid hangover, Bea still woke up at her normal time. She threw up, drank some water, brushed her teeth, danced, showered, and then set about painting. There were a lot of hard feelings she was trying her best to understand but they kept slipping past her fingers. She was working on a huge canvas. The painting itself was abstract in that it was mostly color with undefinable shapes. Maybe as you looked you might see a face or a tree. Then you would lose it right away - the image blending into the background and never fully in reach.

She spent her whole weekend on this painting and brought it to school with her to finish. She parked her truck and carried the unwieldy canvas to the art room. She would come back for it. Her first class was English. With Jordan. Her heart hurt. Bea sat down at her desk and he wasn't there. Why did that hurt so much? It wasn't like he was dead. She zoned out most of the class, her eyes never concentrating on the board or what was said. She tapped her pen against her leg and after a while, it started to hurt. She stared down at the blood spilling slowly from her leg and realized she had not pulled out a pen but an Exacto knife from her bag and had been stabbing it into her leg.

Wiping the object on her school skirt she tucked it away and packed up her things before raising her hand. When finally called on she said she had hurt herself and needed to go to the nurse. It wasn't until she stood with the blood soaking her sock that the teacher understood. She was escorted to the nurse's office where she was told that she would need stitches. Bea refused. Her dads were called and she was taken to the hospital where they patched her up.

The dads had tried to question her about all of this. She had no answers. They wanted to take her home but Bea wanted to go back to school. Her painting was there. They relented only on the agreement that she would see her therapist right after school and she came back just in time for lunch. Bea limped her way into the cafeteria, looking for Georgia. She found her just as Max was leaving. She sat at the table and greeted both Georgie and Chrys. "Afternoon," she said softly and produced her usual tomato and mayo sandwich. "Have you submitted anything to the photography contest? Preparing anything for the County Competitions?" She was referring to the event where schools would compete in various divisions of the arts. Those who won would go statewide, if they wone there they would then go to national.

After the girls left on sunday morning Julie spent the rest of the day lying apathetic in her bed staring at the wall. Then after a while the redhead just got mad. At first at Aurelio but then mostly at herself. She had let him in again and yet again he had let her down. What had she expected? Once a flake always a flake. Julie decided right then and there: from now on she would focus on getting through the rest of her senior year with good grades so she can get out in the world with something to fall back on.

The fist part of the day had gone by in a blur. Julie concentrated hard on avoiding Reli, but apparently he and his sister had decided not to come. So come lunch the stress levels had gone down and Julie plopped down next to Chanel with a frown and a limp salad courtesy of lunch lady Patricia.

"No funny, but I feel like I'm slowly dying. And I don't think this food is helping me out." Chanel lamented surveying her fish sticks.

Julie just slowly nodded picking at her salad with the plastic fork in her hand. “Mmmh…” she mused. There was this weird heavy feeling in her stomach and it was eating at the redhead that she didn’t know what it was. Then all of a sudden it was like a light flickered on inside of her. She realized she had been so caught up in everything happening around her. First everything with Marisol at homecoming then April being with child and finally Reli blowing through her life again. Basically the girl had forgotten about herself, she had become a boring side character in her own life. This had to change. Julie narrowed her eyes at her salad before shifting her eyes to her best friend.

"It's whatever though, I'm pretty sure we all feel a bit... off after what all happened on Saturday. Right? Shit was wild." Coco said as she pushed the remnants of her lunch away from her.

The redhead bit her lip “Yeah… yeah it was. And again I am sorry for my little… breakdown.” she whispered. “But!” she exclaimed throwing her fork into the plastic bowl of her salad “After my small moment of weakness.” she paused clearing her throat quietly before continuing “Don’t you guys think we should make the last part of our senior year… I don’t know. Exciting? Like we should do a stunt or like a heist!” a sparkle could be seen in the girls blue eyes. She looked around at her friends excitedly “Right?!”

“Stelllllaaaaa!!!”

Stella was usually a morning person. Ask anyone who knew even remotely, they would say they always saw Stella Lambert roaming through her family home in her school uniform with her bag in one hand, ready to be propped over her shoulder and a skinny caramel latte in her other hand as she prepared to make her way to her car, and leave for school. She was always alert and up before her alarm had notified her to be.

But today was a different story. Stella had put her alarm on snooze three times already. Some part of her knew it was wrong, but she really didn’t want to get out of bed this morning.

“STELLA!”

This time her father, who had been calling at her for ten minutes straight now, was in her room. There was something strange that went through Frank Lambert’s mind when it came to his darling Stella. The two were like two peas in a pod when it came to their energy levels. Both could go as quiet as a mouse through a minefield or be the ones to cheer with unreasonably amount of energy as those mines exploded. They were the two sides of the energetic coin, but now these similar forces were about to be pit against each other. Whether or not that was going to create a disaster remained to be seen.

“Estelle Lenore Lambert! Get your keester out of bed right now!” Her father demanded, a different tone of energy coming from his mouth.

As she huffed up, her cheeks puffed as she greeted her clearly-not-amused father’s face. “What is your deal today!?” She snapped at him, eyebrows and eyes slanted. For an odd reason, Stella wasn’t her usual cheery self and immediately that was felt.

“What’s my deal? Young lady, I don’t know what sort of punch to the gut you were given in your dream, but you better watch how you speak to me!”

“Or what?”

For a moment, her father was confused. He knew this wasn’t how she normally acted, so something definitely was up and in all honesty, Stella might just be annoyed that she wasn’t able to stay in bed. She didn’t feel like it and the way her father had rudely woke her up, it was clear that she didn’t have the patience to deal with him.

“You don’t want to know the answer to that.”

As both of them were at each other’s throats and moments away from possibly ripping the other’s tongues out, Stella’s mother, Melissa, came in with a loud sigh. “Are you two doing this now? At this hour?” She sighed again.

“Tell your daughter she has to get out of bed! And also tell her to watch how she speaks to me!”

“Ugh, get real dad! You’re being unreasonable today. You came in here screaming like a madman! How else did you expect me to react?”

“Honey, we both know you’re annoyed about your shift today and you’re taking it out on our daughter.” Melissa revealed as Frank face went almost dead white. He had forgotten it amid the chaos that was him vs Stella.

“I’ll take my apology now--”

“And as for you!” Melissa directed her attention to her daughter, which prompted her to perk up immediately. “Something is going on with you and this afternoon, we’ll figure it out as a family, but for now, go take a shower, get dressed, and get your butt to school.”

And just like that, in a matter of moments, Melissa Monroe-Lambert had proven once again that she was the rock holding this family together. She was the one who could analyze a situation, even when her mental capacity was compromised due to it being too early, and figure out what was going on. And at the same time, she was able to find short-term solutions that would certainly hold them over until later so they could figure out a more permanent one.

There was a part of Stella that wanted to be difficult. She couldn’t explain why, but something in her begged to make her mother’s morning a living hell, but she decided against it and did exactly what Melissa told her to do. In just thirty minutes, Stella was clean, dressed, caffeinated, and out the door as she drove herself to school.

The thoughts of her morning spat with her father would stick with her throughout the rest of the day and it was clear just how much that affected her overall mood throughout her morning classes. The way she knew she wasn’t herself today was how, normally if Stella was feeling herself, she would be the first to participate in class, greet everyone with a smile, and just be an overall delight. Today, however, was different. She didn’t do any of those things. Instead, the girl just went through the motions. She was mostly lost in her own thoughts until the lunch period came and even then she kept mostly to herself. Stella would even go as far as to choose an isolated location to just be by herself.

Today was not a day that Stella Lambert felt like being Bubbles. The ray of sunshine was taking a break and unpredictable weather was on the seven-day forecast for Lambert City.

KISS

Location: King's Academy Cafeteria
Interacting With: Amoli Varma, Archer Diedrikson

"You know, at this point I think you just like having me chauffeur you around."

As usual, Kavan Varma had found himself in the school library during Monday's lunch period, his head buried deep in some classic novel that he'd already read numerous times. The only inconstant at that time happened to be the presence of the young man's older sister—not in person, fortunately for Kavan, but through a FaceTime call. Amoli had called her little brother right as he had stepped foot out of his previous classroom, and he opened it to see her lips fixed in her infamous smirk, poised to say something she knew he didn't want to hear. "There's probably nothing even wrong with your car. Ma said that it was supposed to be out of the shop a couple of weeks ago, so what the hell is the problem?"

"Oh stop acting like a baby, bhaee," Amoli said with a chuckle, but Kavan didn't find the situation amusing. "Come on, it's just for another week. I promise you, I don't like riding around in your car as much as you might think. If I have to listen to one more Kiss album, I'm gonna lose my mind."

"What's wrong with Kiss?" Kavan said, slightly raising his voice. To further prove his point, he even went as far as to sing the first few lines of one of his favorite songs. He immediately regretted this, however, when he received a warning glare from the librarian who sat not too far away at her desk. Kavan simply shot Mrs. Davenport a sheepish grin before turning back around and slumping down in his seat. "We'll just have to talk later. I'm not even supposed to be on the phone in here."

"Ugh, whatever," Amoli said with a roll of her eyes. Kavan was just about to end the call when his sister opened her mouth and piped up once again. "Oh, and I forgot to ask you about your boy this morning. How's he doing? You know... after everything that happened at the party? I still can't believe I fucking missed it all!"

An indescribable feeling came over Kavan as the events from Saturday night replayed in his head. To say that it hurt him to see Archer be treated that way would be an understatement. It made him sick to his stomach. And what made him even more sick was the fact that he knew Archer partly blamed himself for the metaphorical target that was now placed on Kavan's back. And it was true, Kavan had started to receive weird looks and snide remarks ever since he'd become more public about his sexuality; but coming out to the outside world was his decision. So screw whoever had something negative to say about it.

"Well, he's got a nasty shiner," Kavan finally responded to his sister, "But I think he's holding up pretty fine. Or... as well as anyone would expect after all that he went through." Soon after he said this, Kavan ended the Facetime call and stood from his seat at the back table. And after quickly checking out his latest book, the boy made a beeline for the cafeteria. Although he wasn't hungry enough to even bother going through the lunch line, he was eager to meet up with his boyfriend after going through the first half of the day without seeing him. Kavan surveyed the room full of students before finally spotting Archer in the farthest corner table. In swift motions, the boy took the seat next to him, slung his arm across his shoulders, and gave him a quick peck on the cheek.

"Writing anything interesting?"

Guy had turned off the shower and sat in the mess of water and shower curtain for a long while as he sobered up. What a sad experience. He scrubbed his hands over his face before standing and making his way out of the bathroom completely drenched. He drove himself home and slept off his drink. He was barely hungover the next morning which was nice and he spent the rest of his weekend studying. He had considered texting Archer a couple of times but thought the guy would likely be with his fella. Guy didn't want to interrupt that.

School was fairly normal. One of the girls in his English class managed to stab her leg which was alarming. Guy was NOT a fan of blood and the world had spun for a moment when he caught sight of it. She left and it passed. Other than that, school was normal normal normal. People talking about the party. Guy only felt shame in his failed attempt at a one night stand. He had looked for the man, Aiden, since then but had not been able to find him since. How frustrating.

He grabbed a pre-packaged caesar salad and sat down at the lunch table not long after Kavan did. "Afternoon," he said with a yawn. Seeing the two being cute and lovely together, Guy fidgeted. Should he leave? His heart was in his stomach but he smiled. "Ah sorry, you want some priv-" he stopped mid-sentence and noticed the bruises on Archers face. "What happened to you man?" Why was he always so out of the loop!? He could feel anger boiling in his stomach. He wanted to murder whoever had hurt his friend. His eyes slid to Kavan with slight suspicion.

Location: King's Academy
Interacting with: Georgie

Leaving the school during lunch had now started to become a part of Carter's daily school routine. He'd often find himself making a beeline for the parking lot after the lunch bell rang, just so he could sit in his car, crank up his music, and snack on whatever he'd had leftover from the night before. Every so often, like that time in particular, Carter would even risk taking a few hits from a joint as he sat in the vehicle. After spending a few years at King's, Carter pretty much had everything figured out so that he wouldn't be caught by a faculty member; he knew exactly where to park, who to look for, how many hits he could take before having to roll down his window and let it air out for a bit... Carter was relaxed. He preparing himself to begin the second half of his day.

It was right after Carter had tossed the remaining bit of his joint out into the grass that he received a text message from an unknown number. Raising his eyebrows in surprise, Carter quickly read over Georgie's message before typing in a quick response, saving her number in his phone, and tossing it back into his book bag.

To: GEORGIE

CARTER: no prob, glad i could help u out luv

CARTER: not weird at all. i'll keep that in mind

Soon, Carter had scarfed down the remainder of his mother's empanadas. But a loud rumble in his belly following his last bite told him that he hadn't quite had enough to eat. In swift motions, the young man recollected his things from the passenger seat, exited the car, and began to make his way back towards the school. He didn't stop walking until he reached the cafeteria, where he then headed straight for the lunch line and began to dig around his bag for a couple of dollars. A few minutes later, Carter was approaching an empty table with two cups of cold french fries in hand. He usually wasn't one to eat anything served in the cafeteria, but hey. Desperate times called for desperate measures.

Readjusting to school in Palms hadn’t been too much of a challenge, though the amount of “catch up” she was going to have to do after being absent for the greater part of two months concerned her, as she wasn’t exactly the brainiest type of person. She was no Aaliyah or Victoire. She wondered if she should talk to one of them about getting her studies back ‘in check’, but she didn’t exactly have repertoire with either, so she was probably going to have to suffer and actually do coursework. Though, before she could think about the projects and homework, she had spotted Kavi at his own table looking pretty unamused. Normally she would sit with Stella or Chanel, like she did in her junior year, but Kavi looked like he needed a pick-me-up.

So here she was.

“What’s got you looking all snookered, Kav?” Mac commented as she plopped down at the seat next to him, tray-in-hand. “You're not still vexed about that girl, right?”

Truth be told, an evening of snacks and movies with Santiago had been the most fun April had had with him in a while. The pair had met back at the Foster residence, where a parent-less home awaited them. After gathering every bit of junk food that April could dig out from the kitchen, the pair scurried up to her room like a couple of preschool kids and snuggled up in April’s bed. For the remainder of the night and into the early hours of the following day, the couple laid back and watched a few old classic horror movies, notably Friday the 13th and Nightmare on Elm Street.

While parties certainly could be fun, in April’s mind not one could hold a candle to nights like this.

As she woke up the next morning, it took her a few moments to realise that Santiago was no longer in bed with her. In fact, he was nowhere to be seen at all. With a slight shrug, the brunette crawled her way through the comforter and hopped off the bed, grabbing her fuzzy bathrobe to fight away the gentle shiver that ran down her back. She quickly paced into her bathroom and brushed her hair out of it’s borderline nightmare-ish case of bedhead, before the brunette proceeded downstairs. As her bare feet carried her down the carpeted staircase and onto the cool hardwood floor, she began to smell something lovely coming from the kitchen.

As April rounded the final corner into the kitchen, she couldn’t hold back a smile as she saw her dear Santiago cooking up some beautiful Belgian-style waffles. “Buenos días mi amor.” April paced up behind him, wrapping her arms around his waist and tucking her head into his back. “You even remembered the strawberries…my favourite.”

An hour later and with a breakfast eaten, the two had finally gotten ready for school. With a quick peck on the lips and a warm smile, the pair sped off in their respective white and red sports cars. There was no mistaking it, the two of them had so much in common.

Once she had arrived, April ran into the school and signed in, receiving a rather unsettling glare that just screamed “you’re late”. The brunette quickly scribbled her name down before taking off down the hallways once again. She’d completely missed her morning classes because of her spontaneous breakfast with Santiago. Completely worth it in her book, but it would likely cost her.

Collapsing into a seat at the trio’s normal table, she smiled to Chanel and Julie and tuned in to the conversation just as Julie mentioned doing something exciting. “What’d you have in mind, like a senior prank or something? I’d be down for some excitement!” April piped up, looking between the two of them. “If we do something like this, we have to do it like, all out. Something everyone will remember.”

“Ideas?”

The damage caused during Kavi’s party didn’t really sink in for Marisol until Sunday morning. She’d been right in the middle of her shower when she realized she hadn’t gotten any texts from Salem, and finally remembered that he’d dumped her the night before. Mari broke down into sobs for a few long minutes, but by the time she came out, she had an epiphany. The fact that she hadn’t taken any physical retaliation didn’t mean she didn’t have to take any retaliation at all. That afternoon, the pint-sized girl spent the better part of her time gathering every piece of evidence in her possession and compiling a detailed album of the events between her and Salem’s affair. She made digital and printed copies of every text message and photo received, wrote down a detailed timeline and sequence of events, and eventually sent the folders Gwendolyn Winters’ way. She was certain the other girl had received them when Mari found herself blocked on both Gwen’s and Salem’s social media accounts, but knew her revenge plan had worked when (using Archer’s phone) a little digging revealed all previous traces of the couple in their accounts had vanished without a trace.

And Xixi? Well, the queen bitch of Crown Heights didn’t get out unscathed out of this one, either. The Colombian received an overnight special delivery of about fifty mice (the one animal phobia that sent her into hysterics), who jumped at the opportunity to invade the girl’s opulent home the second she opened the box and gave them their freedom.

All in all, it was just another reminder for the world that Marisol Castillo is not somebody you want to mess with.

That Monday morning had been business as usual for the young woman: homeroom, Calculus, English and Study Hall. The lunch bell had rang, and she’d been in the middle of her walk to the cafeteria when her green eyes fell on Ariel. The news of what had gone down between her and Kavi had spread like wildfire through the school, and judging by the raven-haired girl’s crestfallen expression, she obviously wasn’t doing too well.

She didn’t know if she was driven out of guilt or the need to let Ariel know she wasn’t alone in feeling disappointed by men, but before she realized it, Mari had stopped in her tracks and made a beeline towards her ex-best friend.

"So I heard my charming cousin did you dirty again- in a typical scumbag male move, I might add. That true?" she asked the girl point-blank, leaning her left shoulder against the wall of lockers beside them.

While putting her books away to head to lunch, Ariel heard a familiar voice especially close. Said voice belonged to that of Marisol. Why the other girl had chosen to approach her, Ariel had no idea. It had been years since that had talked, even though Ari had all of her contact information saved just in case she had gotten drunk enough to text her ex best friend. As it turns out, no amount of alcohol had made her that brave. But since Marisol had decided to make the first move, Ariel didn’t see any harm in seeing where the conversation was going.

”I… yeah. It is. As bad as I hate to admit it, he did,” she said, promptly slamming the locker door shut. ”More or less blamed it on me and decided that he hadn’t done anything wrong - also typical douchebag if you ask me.” Ariel took a deep breath. The act of putting on a brave face was tiring, and Mari wasn’t the only one who asked her about what had happened that night. While she didn’t wish to talk about it, if Kavi was reverting back to his dickhead ways, he’d spin the truth into whatever lies made him look best. As long as people asked, at least Ariel could tell her side of the story. ”It sort of sucks, ya know? I was ecstatic that he was actually giving me the time of day, but I guess it’s true what they say about all the good things coming to an end.”

"Fucking tell me about it…" the shorter girl muttered under her breath, her green eyes flashing with anger at the mere memory of Salem's betrayal. She took a second to compose herself before addressing Ariel again, her tone taking on her usual abrasiveness. "But see, that was our first mistake: letting them through our guard. No man can be trusted, Ariel. Well I mean, there's always gonna be exceptions -like Archer and Van for example. But all the others? Bullshit. Every. Other. Men. Is. Bullshit. Period. End. Of. Story." Marisol declared, banging her fist against her open palm to emphasize the importance of her last ten words.

Ariel pursed her lips and shrugged lazily in a weak attempt of agreement. ”I guess you have a point. I mean, none of my relationships with girls have ever ended in broken judo trophies and playstations. You seem really angry though, and I know said anger can’t just come from Kavis latest scandal. What’s up with you?”

Marisol shrugged, shaking her head. "Oh, you know, nothing much. Just got made a fool of by yet another worthless piece of shit, but no big deal," she said sarcastically, angrily picking at the hem of her skirt. "Only this one failed to mention during all the times we fucked that he'd given a big fat promise ring to the stupid girlfriend he had back home. But no biggie. I'm not even phased about it. He can go rot in a hole for all I care about." Of course, anyone with half a brain could tell that the brunette was boiling with fury just thinking about it.

The raven haired girl couldn’t help but laugh sourly. What was it with Kings being a hell hole full of toxic relationships, fist fights, and raging hormones? ”You’ve got to be shitting me,” she scoffed. ”Let’s just be real; boys are stupid. And now that I think about it,” she said, holding up an index finger, ”pretty much all together pointless. I mean, we have vibrators.”

"And therein lies the problem," Mari began, crossing her arms in front of her chest. "You see, as much as I would love to agree with you, but I can't. I took a bat to a Mercedes for the dick. I tackled a bitch for the dick. I was going to jail for the dick. Fucking jail, Ariel! All because of a stupid dick. Bottom line: I'm not afraid to fucking die for the dick. But am I sick and tired of the men behind said dicks? Absolutely."

The more and more Marisol talked, the wider Ariel's eyes got. "You might have a problem, love."

"Me? Having a problem? What's new?!" Mari shrugged before letting out a round of laughter. "Tell me something I don't know."

While chatting with Marisol like this was fun, and it was nice to see that they could still talk as easily as they used to, it was a little hard for Ariel to ignore the elephant in the room. ”So what exactly is… this?” she asked, making a weak attempt at some weird hand gesture between them. ”Us talking like this, I mean? Or was that something that I wasn’t supposed to mention, and by doing so, I completely screwed up whatever this conversation was?”

"I mean, I would have rather you just take it and run with it than make things awkward, but when have I ever gotten what I wanted?" she replied cynically, shooting Ariel a teasing smirk. "But since you asked, I'll be real here: I know I'm not the easiest person to be around or deal with. And you know I have the hardest fucking time making friends- especially friends of the same sex- because of this 'special and unique' personality I have. But you know what? I'll fucking say it: I've missed you. I've missed the sleepovers, the random hangouts, shopping trips, the bad makeup attempts… And just having a fucking girlfriend in my corner I can talk about all that pussy girl shit with. Am I still pissed that you tossed us all away like a used condom? Yes. But am I willing to put it past us just to have you back in my life? Also yes… As long as you don't pull the same crap on me again, of course. Then I'll just have to talk with my bat, I guess."

”No,” Ariel said shaking her head. ”I’d never do that again. I had a lot going on then - not that that’s a reason to drop my best friend - but I honestly thought I was protecting you guys. Again, long story.”

At this point, Marisol had learned that there was no use in prying for any information that wasn’t willingly shared. “It’s fine, Ariel. If there’s anything I’ve learned in this time is that people do stupid fucking things to those they care about. Sometimes they’re bad, but most times they’re good. And if you say that you had a good reason for it, then I believe you. I’m over it. Carpe diem and all that shit. I just want my favorite baddest bitch in my corner again…” she admitted in a low voice, sheepishly looking down at her worn-out Vans.

”Well if you really mean it, then can we please go get some cheese fries from the cafeteria like old times? Because I’m fucking starving.”

“Only if you promise to meet me at the Shack after school for burgers and milkshakes,” Mari quickly replied.

”Absolutely,” she said beaming. ”Could I have a hug, or are you still to much of a badass for that?”

“Fuck you,” was the shorter girl’s immediate comeback, shaking her head with a smile but wrapping up her friend in a tight hug nonetheless.

While it was sudden and unexpected, Ariel didn’t regret her decision to have this conversation. Returning the hug, she couldn’t help but smile.

Marisol and her were finally friends again.
