It had all began so well for the Greenskins of Waaagh! 'Artrippa, the aforementioned giant of an Ork gathering a substantial following about him and taking off toward the Imperial-held planet of Zamovis while using the splitting of the universe to fire up his warriors with what counts for Orks as religious zeal - 'Gork's Grin' (the Orkoid name for the Great Rift) clearly being a sign from their brutal and kunnin' deity, whoever said otherwise was quickly banished or dispatched by his more fanatical brethren, Gutsnaga being one of these doubters... but also clever enough to keep it to himself.

Zamovis was both the capital planet of the Zamovis Sub-Sector and now, much to the dismay of the Imperium, was the target of an Orkish jihad that threatened to consume the surrounding areas of space as well. Was there any real need for the Greenskins to attack this planet in particular? Not really, it was simply there and ripe for some fightin'.

It was slightly different for the Imperials, the Zamovis sub-sector being both a fertile recruiting ground for the Astra Militarum - especially the odd quantity of jungle planets present - and, more importantly, two or three minor Mechanicus Forge Worlds.

A large response force was dispatched under the command of some Imperial or other (they all look mostly the same to an Ork), which included a number of Catachan Jungle Fighters; it was however only once Astartes contingents from the Silver Templars, Storm Reapers, Sons of Medusa and the Helion Legion to name but a few began to appear that the fight intensified, inadvertently drawing in more Orks but... after many lives had been taken and much human blood had been spilt... the Waaagh not only was stalled, but began to be pushed back and out of the system.

At the forefront of this invasion had been the Orks of the Blood Axes for obvious reasons (they're the sneaky and kunnin' boyz), one particular band known as Da Devilz Brigade being encircled by an Imperial scratch force in the sweltering Jungle of Navamias (named after some Rogue Trader or other, probably) and seemingly cut off from the rest of their kind.

This band were known to Imperial Command, and so priority was given to wipe them off the face of the planet with impunity.

"Well," grunted Gutsnaga as another las-round hissed past his green hide, leaving him with a nasty burn but little else, "this is anuvver fine mess 'uve gotten us into Shiv!" He could barely hear himself speak over the clack-bang of shoota and slugga rounds, mingled with the crackling of las-weapons and the thwump of bolter technology, but he said it anyway - it had become something of a tradition to blame any such situation on the Ork named Zagruk grotkicka, mostly because he was a Snakebite and therefore considered stupider than the other boyz (even if there was no actual proof of it...).

For several hours now Da Devilz had been holding back waves of Imperial forces - pink skinned 'umies wth their flickering light weapons, and not even the ones that looked like miniature Orks! - with no sign of 'da tin can 'umies' or vehicle support... as of yet.

Using old kunnin' initiative, Gutsnaga had taken the boyz back to what looked like an abandoned jungle outpost, the low wall they sheltered behind made definitely of some kind of black stone (which seemed to hold up very well to the amount of munitions already thrown at them), the Imperial forces moving through the sweltering jungle heat to form somewhat of a cordon about the Greenskins to make sure they couldn't escape a swift death.

Honestly Gutsnaga had had enough about an hour ago, but also not wishing to throw his life away by simply charging the gun-lines, he began to formulate some sort of plan within his sub-par sized brain at the same time as snapping off solid shot rounds at any bush that quivered or spoke.

Everything was beginning to annoy him, from the heat to the noise, how could he think with all this racket?!

He only had to wait for an hour or so he estimated, then night would fall and there would be a chance to make a taktikal retreat... right through the 'umies. Yeah, that was a good idea! Of course it was, he'd thought of it.

"I'z got a plan ladz, we just gotta keep 'em busy."

"Captain, do you care to explain how it is taking so long to dispatch a handful of brutish Greenskins?"

Captain Ezequiel Eliseo of the Zaragoza Peleadores turned his tanned face to peer into the pallid visage of Commissar Goran Krunoslav, an offworlder given to his regiment for some Emperor-forsaken reason - the 'man' was too strict with his discipline, too high-handed, and in this environment the worst thing was that, beneath his black stormcoat and cap, he did not seem to be sweating at all.

"Commissar, we are doing everything we can, but they have dug in and refuse to be removed. We were told to give these Orks priority in terms of extermination, but they are crafty."

"Crafty Orks?!" The black-clad man laughed openly at the suggestion, "my dear Captain, the Ork is brutish, stupid, and as below humanity as a flea. Like a flea we shall dig them out."

"Yes sir, but it will be night soon, and we have already come from fig-," he saw the look on the political officers face and ceased to speak, swallowing hard.

"Very well. Keep up a sustained fire, I want that position to be rubble by the time night falls. Then, when the Orkish scum are napping, we shall close in and dispatch them. Does that meet you approval, Captain Eliseo?"

The company commander could only nod, hoping deep inside that reinforcements showed up soon, waiting for the Commissar to find someone else to torment before getting back to his own.

"You there, that mortar needs to be at least several feet back, come on now... let me help you..."

Gardak "Shef" Flamelobba, the ork among Da Devil with a propensity for fire, had been having quite a bit of fun exchanging shots with any humie brave or stupid enough to approach their little dugout. Had being the keyword. Just under a dozen charred corpses now decorated what had effectively become a no man's land of scorched undergrowth and smoking dirt before the volcanic fury of his skorcha. He took a drag of his cigar, which looked comically small in the mouth of a greenskin. Flamelobba sighed a cloud of smoke and stood up to unleash another stream of liquid fire on the humie lines. He knew he wouldn't hit any of them as they'd all gotten wise and backed up out of range. Still, it was important to let them know he could still cook them alive in seconds should they move any closer.

Flamaelobba slumped back down against the wall and turned to Gutsnaga. The boss was a crafty one and he was sure he'd see them out of this mess. So when the boss mentioned he had a plan in the works, the ork grinned with anticipation. He liked when the boss said that because that meant something was about to go BOOM!!! or they were in for a right proper fight.
"You got it, Boss! I got 2 fiery stikkbombz, choppa, and..." The ork paused to count on his fingers. "1 skorcha fuel outta 3 skorcha fuel."
The ork unclipped one of the aforementioned stikkbombz from his belt and peeked over the wall to see who'd be the most fun to set on fire. His eyes settled on some sort of humie lobba. It wasn't very big but the shells near it looked like fun so he hurled the stikkbomb with all his brutish strength. He grinned savagely as he watched the grenade sail over the heads of the front line and roll to a stop next to the crates of shells. The humies didn't even have time to cry out before the entire mortar emplacement was bathed in fire. Flamelobba gave a great belly laugh as he watched humies scramble around like headless chickens as their very flesh boiled and dripped off their faces.
"Make dat 1 stikkbomb!"

"Der aint no tanka boys 'ere! An' non'v da 'ard humie boys!" Kargut, Da Mad Bomma, complained loudly while hurling a small bundle of dynamite at an encroaching squad of Imperial guard. It went off in a satisfying bang effectively dispersing the squad into a thick goo over the jungle, Kargut smirked but it wasn't the same. Smashing his hammer through Astartes battle plate or slapping one of his right big busta bombs onto a tank or bunker was what he really lived for. This was getting dull. He waited in his position covering the rear of Da Devils from any clever humies trying to sneak up behind them. One survivor, clearly in a confused panic ran into their lines. Kargut scooped him up holding him by the flak vest. "'Ello Humie" he said to the screaming guardsmen in gothic that might almost be understood. Unfortunately that was the extent of his vocabulary. The private, only having been on this war torn world a few weeks, screamed in panic and jabbed his las-gun's bayonet at Kargut. The blade of the bayonet bent and snapped against the thick gut plate around his middle. Kargut laughed and releved the poor man of his grenades before he was simply hurled against a nearby tree with a satisfying crunch of bone. Now that he broke the new plaything this was getting terribly dull, he had to talk to the boss.

Kargut stomped over to Boss Gutsanga, out of cover the whole way letting las bolts and a couple Stubber rounds ping off his armor "Wots da plan boss? Dis aint fun no more. We auta be up der givin them humies a roight shtompin. So dey bring in da tanks an' der 'ard boys" he said, still out of cover and letting shots ping off his armor while bouncing his tank hammer in his hands clearly anxious to find something better to do or pondering challenging the boss for leadership, or more likely a little of both. The boss was rather bigger than Kargut but, it would be unorky if he didn't think about it sometimes.

Keep 'em busy. Yeah, Snekart could do that. It looked like Shef and Kargut were already doing a swell job of that - but then, the way they did it wasn't kunning at all. He could enjoy it, yeah - but it wasn't proper Orky, because it was only brutal, which meant they were forgetting about Mork's side of the fighting. On the other hand, sneakin' round with a 'eavy bolta in hand, then unloading on a group that never saw it coming... now that was what you could call "kunning brutality".

Speaking of all that, Snekart was already doing his bit, sneakin' round innawoods to find whatever humies he could. And oh, he'd just found a pretty big group - one with the kunning to try and sneak round the side of Da Devilz Brigade. Outflank 'em, as it were. He imagined Mork might be proud, if they were more Orky - but nah, they were just runty. An' they didn't even have any purple anywhere on 'em! Or red! Big mistake.

The 'eavy bolta was primed already. He didn't have too much kustom ammo left, maybe a quarter of what he'd started with - but he certainly had enough to open fire wildly on the humies, effectively outflanking the outflanking group with a volley of explosive dakka, and even keeping it in mind to hold back his almighty 'WAAAAAGH!' until after he was already shredding 'em. He'd learned that keeping the weapon ready for a sneak attack, and keeping quiet until he was already unloading it, was key to making sure he could properly sneak round, otherwise they'd hear him and open fire first, which was the opposite of what he wanted. Sometimes they'd even manage to call more people in, and that just meant he hadn't been quiet enough, didn't it?

Naturally, he considered as he realised they were all dead and stopped firing into their corpses, this meant he was doin' better than Shiv. Shiv, obviously, was a less effective Kommando than Snekart, not least because his Squig was always making too much noise. But, he was still smarter than a lot of the other boyz, who just wanted to krump gits without any kunnin', which was obviously the opposite of what Mad Boss Gutsnaga was tryin' to do. Anyway, didn't using kunnin' to krump better mean you could krump more, meaning you were actually being more brutal an' Orky than just gettin' krumped yourself by bein' a lout? Yeah, that was just obvious. To Snekart, anyway.

Making sure the 'eavy bolta was fully loaded again, he went on, lookin' around for more humies to kill. Maybe if he looked round the next side, so they couldn't flank over there...

Ugrokk was only half paying attention to the humans continuously assaulting their position. Every now and again he would send a few slugga rounds towards the guardsmen whenever a lasbolt would fly too close to his head for comfort, but he was most interested in his fellow orks. More interested in his fellow orks getting shot that is. If they got hurt then he could patch them up and start building up his tally for a nice payout at the end of the mission. Now if only one of those bastards could hurry up and get shot.

Gutsnaga sometimes forgot that Blastikk was not one of his Blood Axes, the lack of discipline and open disdain of Mork's kunnin' warfare a clear sign of that, but actually a member of the Bad Moons Klan; it was moments like this, when the Bombah decided to somewhat challenge him that it came back into more focus that looking at his methods of warfare and overall need to blow things up.

The Mad Boss seemed to give some form of bodily shudder as he let off another solid-round from his slugga, his dark green hide seeming to shift itself before he turned his deep-set eyes on the Ork standing out in the open next to him.

"Yoo wan' the tanks an 'ard boyz, Bomma?" He said with a snort, squinting at the Tankbusta even as a deep groove was cut through his shoulders skin by a stray lasbeam, "I tell you wot then, 'ows about you go over there an tell 'em?"

Time seemd to stand still between the two, the small things becoming even morew pronounced between them - the slight twitch of Gutsnaga's finger on his trigger, the way he angled his body toward that of Kargut, the fire of barely controlled rage visible in his pig like eyes.

"Or... was there sumfin' else you wanted?"

Gutsnaga was a git, snekart was a git. Dey was all gitz, every wun uv im. Zagruk reflected on dis truth as 'e sat on his rump behind da low wall an’ fiddled wit' wun uv his buzz bombz. Try'n ta rememba how 'actly 'e was supposed ta use it. Did 'e pull 'da strappy fing? unscrew 'da lid furst? was it supposed ta 'explode? Eventually 'e jus got frustrated an popped up long enough ta hurl ‘da kontaina at ‘da 'umiez ‘n rage. It hit wun unfortunate clean ‘n 'da chest an' knocked 'em back on his ass as 'da kanista finally kracked an' released it's swarm. Well, most uv ‘da swarm. Putt'n a few airholes into 'da kanista might have been a gud idea. But still a dozen or so buzz squigs were claw'n an’ forc'n dere way throo ‘da krack ta breath dere furst fresh breaths ‘n days, an’ eat dere furst meal....

zagruk laughed an fired his slugga wildly at da guardsman 'oo were now swatt'n an scream'n as da buzz squigs descended like... well like buzz squigs! now 'dat was a real kunnin weapon. No fancy gubbinz or bulletz needed. Dat's why it was so kunnin, none uv im otha gitz would know kunnin' if it up an’ bit im ‘n ‘da face! zagruk new wot kunnin' was, den again 'e was a true ork. Not all orks were lucky enough ta be a snakebite like ‘em. Most orks were destined ta be gitz as soon as dey krawled outta ‘da mushroom groves. It was an unfortunate truth dat some orks (snakebites) were simply born betta dan othaz. More loved by gork an’ mork…. a sad truth ‘dat most orks kouldn't handle. 'da greatness dat was a mind an’ body truly blessed by 'da twin Godz. Zargruk almost felt bad for im all.... Den again dey were all gitz an probably deserved it.

his internal musings were interrupted by a lasbolt scorch'n ‘da muscle uv his stabbin arm an squiggly gnaw'n at ‘da harness ‘dat kept ‘em attached ta it's ownaz belt. Empty'n his remain'n clip managed ta only hit wun guardsman, but it took his arm clean off at ‘da elbow an’ wit' a howl uv victory zagruk grabbed his squig, ripped it off his belt an’ hurled it ova ‘da field towards ‘da 'umie.

The idea of mashing Gutsnaga into the ground was a tempting one, but not a realistic one. While he was deciding a las bolt seared his shoulder, jogging his few brain cells into noticing what was going on around him. He was taking a lot of hits, though his armor was thick and tough enough to shrug off most of the incoming fire at this range. Mostly because these humies didn't really understand the proper application of DAKKA.

"Agh! Imma find som'thin ta smash" he growls at the boss, angry that he knows he would lose the fight with Gutsnaga and angrier that there wasn't something fun to make explode. He stomps off swinging his Tankhammer viciously smashing through a tree of appreciable thickness to vent his frustration. Bullets and las bolts still pinging off his armor until he was covered by the canopy of the broken tree.

Once out of earshot, which wasn't far due to the cacophony of battle going on Kargut starts grumbling to himself "Da boss tink 'ees so cunnin', but 'e can't even git us to a proppa fight! Da humies 'ere are soft an' scared as a wimpy grot!'" He stomps his way back to his previous position, on the other side of their little battlefield that he had abandoned a minute or two ago. Only to find a Guardsman trying to sneak up on them with a pair of grenades. Kargut shrugs, Waste not the gifts of Gork and Mork, he steps around the tree already swinging his Tankhammer with a satisfying bellow of "WAAAGH!!!"

No more invaders for now. Humies gettin' ripped to shreds had put off any other flanks for the moment, so far as Snekart could see - at least, none that Da Shiv wasn't able to get the brunt of. Snakey git deserved it, naturally. Anyway, Snekart found himself back in the area they were stuck in, putting the 'eavy bolta on his back for the moment as he crawled back to da boss. "Crawled", but more like a fast scramble between bits of cover, because otherwise he'd be seen, and being seen was bad for not being shot. To not be shot, you had to not be seen, obviously. Kargut hadn't figured that out yet, but even if he had, his stupid giant armour made it real difficult for him anyway.

'Psst. Boss.' Snekart was real quiet-like, which was still pretty loud, but quiet for an Ork. 'Wot's da plan, an' 'ow do I... er, wot do I do innit?' Turns of phrase weren't his strong point, but they weren't really any other Ork's strong point either, so that worked out fine for him. And of course, Gutsnaga did understand at least the basic bits of how to fight with kunnin' instead of just brutality, so best to make sure things were working the way he wanted them to. If they were working how Gutsnaga wanted, they were probably working how Snekart wanted too, obviously. That was why he'd signed up with Da Mad Boss to begin with, obviously.

Gutsnaga looked around a bit until he found Snekart standing nearby- now he was a true Blood Axe, a sneaky and kunnin' git who understood the rudimentary skills of stelff - one large hand stroked over his scarred jaw and he gave a deep-throated chuckle.

"Gimme til night, den you'll see we all got summit to do..."

Night came swiftly to the jungle, the sounds of an alien planet coming alive all around the Greenskins position, the Imperial Guard finally having ceased their bombardment of the Kommandoz location for a moment.

"Aaaaah," rumbled Gutsnaga in his chest, "now dis is wot I been waitin' for." Using the sign-language of all Kommando squadz he gathered the rest of the squad around, "rite, listen up ladz. Them 'umies gonna try an get uz like a squig in a zoggin' trap, circle us like... but we gonna 'it 'em first see?"

He hadn't gotten to his rank in the Orkoid hierarchy by being stupid, but by knocking out more than one set of teeth on those larger than himself snd cleaving his enemies apart. Time after time fighting against the Guard and other Imperial forces had taught him a thing or three, and basic 'umie strategies were grasped even by his admittedly primitive brain.

"Roite."

Gutsnaga grabbed a large stick from the ground - ground covered in bullet-casings, holes from explosions, and spilt blood - scrawling a childlike diagram into the soft jungle dirt for all the others to see as they gathered round.

"Gonna try an ring our necks, see?" He grunted, drawing a circle inside a bigger circle, "dis is uz, an 'ere is them, yeah?" Next came an arrow pointing toward the larger circle from the smaller one, an arrowhead formed out of the smaller circle before going through the larger one, "das uz, we gonna punch roight thru 'em."

Slipping his knife the size of a grown humans arm from it's squig-skin sheath, Gutsnaga grasped some dirt and rubbed it over the glinting blade.

"Choppas only for this one ladz, gotta keep it reel quiet like. At least until we get clear, init." A large grin spread across the Nobz face, his eyes boring into those of Kargut for more than a moment, "grab yer gear boyz, we're movin' out."

As the seven moved through the undergrowth, sweat coating his hunched green body, Gutsnaga swept his goggle-covered eyes from one side to the other - always alert, always prepared to unleash some good old ultra-violence upon the enemy.

It was only a matter of time until they hit the encroaching humans, and he happened to be at the tip of the arrowhead (of course, cus he was the boss like), and when that happened they had to be quick as a striking squig-snake and as deadly as a venom-squig.

It took several hours of hiking and hacking through overgrown flora before the Devilz Brigade began to hear the rustling of something that wasn't just a huge predator or animal.

Immediately Gutsnaga raised a fist for silence and overwatch, his goggles picking out numerous heat signatures among the foliage, at least two dozen Guardsmen being led by peak-capped officers, there were also at least four heavy weapons held in unsteady hands.

Oh yes, he could smell the fear on these pinkskins.

"Alroight boyz, noice an safe - if ya got a silencer then stick it on an take some shots - we gonna put some holes in these 'umies. When yer ready then ladz."

Snekart hated waiting. Waiting meant enemies could try to sneak up on you, right back in Snekart's case. And nobody liked gettin' a shiv to the back, especially not Orks. Or, well, it depended on how you did it. A good backstabbing needed to be nice and gory, but still quick enough that you were gone by the time the other enemies turned round. So more of a backgutting, naturally. But obviously, you could just hit all of 'em with a load a dakka, and it'd be way more useful than either method, and also way more fun, as another squad of humies found out partway through the waiting.

Boss Gutsnaga eventually brought everyone back to him, when night fell, and came up with a plan. It was a pretty good plan - the humies were in a circle around 'em, so they'd get together and go through 'em. A good, kunnin' strategy. The problem, and what stopped it from being brutally kunnin', was that it was choppas only, which was a bad idea. The idea was to punch through, right? If he meant actually punching 'em, then choppas made sense, but if it was just to go through the humies quickly, it'd be way faster to shoot 'em when they got in the way. Sneakily, obviously. Snekart really wanted to say something about that, he really did...

In the end, he didn't say anything. Brutality made sense a lot of the time, but the better part of kunnin' was knowing when to get brutal wiv it. Obviously. And obviously, 'aving a go at da Mad Boss because you couldn't use yer 'eavy bolta was not kunnin'. Besides, Gutsnaga was naturally kunning. He probably knew wot he was doing. Anyway, if they did start getting shot at, Snekart meant to hide behind Kargut and his giant bloody armour until he could get into cover that he could move through, which made sense because they were both green, obviously.

Hours passed. They went pretty fast for 'Eadsmakka, because he was used to taking his time when sneakin' round. He figured most of the others might have trouble dealing with the long time spent not killing humies, because obviously krumpin' gits was fun - except Shiv, who was also used to it and a bit slow anyway, and Kargut, who was also used to it. Bein' slow, that was. Naturally. But in any case, after a lot of they wound up near some humies. Finally. And they could even go ahead and shoot 'em down, after all! If they had a silenc... er.

Snekart gritted 'is teef so 'ard, one of 'em nearly broke out uv 'is mouf, clenchin' 'is fists until 'is 'ands bled ta stop 'imself from flailin' 'em angrily. Zoggin' bloody 'ell. Uv all da things 'is 'eavy bolta woz, silent wozn't one of 'em, an' 'e didn't 'ave a zoggin' silencer ta make it silent, because dat wozn't wot it woz for, it woz like Gutsnaga woz makin' fun uv 'im for 'iz zoggin' weapon-

No, no, it woz fine. It was fine. He could deal with it. Work with it. Whilst the others took shots, Snekart could sneak ahead and do the sneaky sort of stabbin'. The kind that wasn't as brutal as a propa krumpin': if you 'ad to, you could get a backstab in quick-like wiv yer 'and over dere face, and sometimes that was enough. Mork didn't always need you to hit 'em so 'ard they went everywhere. Just 'ard enough to make 'em go down, right? Yeah, he could do that.

'Psst. Boss. Permishun ta start guttin' 'em all quiet-like, yeah?' he asked, quiet-like obviously, because they'd hear him if he was loud, obviously. Once he got the permishun, he'd start sneaking ahead, bein' sure ta be extra-quiet so 'e didn't get seen too soon. Normally, he'd unload with the 'eavy bolta, but... no silencer. He'd need to get one a those for next time this happened.

Kargut had several hours to entertain himself while he waited for night fall, So naturally he gravitated to his particular idiom. He was collecting explosives. The guardsmen often had a grenade or two that he could rig up into something exciting. The dozens of guard that they had killed earlier today had plenty for him to tinker with. As the small skirmishes happened around the orky position Kargut was shuffling through collecting explosives, and brutalizing any survivors naturally. As darkness fell he had accomplished his goal to cover their breakout, or more accurately making some hilariously dangerous devices to detonate to cause havoc and mayhem as they left. He placed several around the area they had been occupying earlier today and had left several scattered around the jungle encroaching on the Imperial encirclement. It would be a Roight boom.

Kargut joined the boss and his little crew just as the boss was outlining his plan, Kargut however had a new flourish to his ensemble. He was carrying a many Imperial Guard packs filled with grenades and lasgun power packs rigged to a detonator. If he exploded right now it would more than likely kill everyone present and everything several meters from where he stood. While exciting that wasn't the plan, he would be covering their rear with fire and shrapnel. Making it look like they were attacking the encirclement at a half-dozen different spots all at once so the puny humies didnt know which direction they went until morning at least.

The Boss singled him out, which was annoying, he was plenty Stelfy and cunnin' he was sure. Honestly he was a Kommando like everyone else, so obviously he was stelfy and cunnin'. It was fine, his plan was extra cunnin' an' brutal, the boss would see that and so would the others. He didn't really tell anyone his plan, he was a mad bomber after all, though his skulking about and the lack of explosions over the last few hours would probably be a good indication that he was up to something.

As they drew up to the Imperial line the Boss indicated where they were near the humie lines and had everyone get their choppas and silenced shootas, Silenced Shootas! it was blasphemy against Gork... Or possibly Mork, either way a shoota wasnt supposed to be quiet the idea bothered Kargut but he didnt say anything, just laying down one of the imperial packs and twisting a dial that armed the detonator and linked it to the trigger he carried.

Da Bolta git was all pumped to get to the Imperial lines, Kargut was too, but not quite to the same degree. He couldnt use his bombs because they were all kinds of noisy, and his tank hammer wasn't really much quieter so he would follow everyone else in and leave his presents around so they could make sure the puny humies wouldn't follow them.
