As Vella dragged Jorgle away to who knows where, Emi looked at the stack of paper that was handed to her. It was twice as wide as she was and more so as tall. However, they were still sheets of parchment, so she was able to hold them just fine without them weighing her down. Even so, the size of them made it hard to wave good bye, so she just settled with shouting thanks.
After Jorgle was out of site along with many of the other staff members, Emi fluttered down to one of the now empty stone seats and laid the pages out in front of her. Mimi flew off to the various plants, perhaps looking for some nectar to sip. She sat cross-legged on the grass that grew over the stone.
“So this is the map, and that means we’re here…” she spoke softly to herself looking over the papers, within them she found her room number, class schedule, and various other useful information, such as what the other buildings were designated. There was also a list of various staff members and offices.
“Alright!” she shouted at nothing in particular. Gathering the papers back up as best she could, she grabbed them by the edge and took off. The papers caught the air by her sudden movement and they were dragged out of her grip and scattered back down to the ground. Emi stopped to look back down at them, “I’m going to need to do something about that.”
Emi went back and gathered her parchment once again, and took off more carefully this time. Mimi rejoined her as she flew up and over the main building through the open ceiling. She wasn’t able to stay up there long because the wind kept using the paper as a sail and pushing her around. So by necessity she flew back into the main hallway through a window and flew over the various students heads.
Emi was aware of various forest creatures, so druids and various beastfolk were not new to her. To them, it looked like a small stack of paper flying over their heads followed by a hummingbird, but to Emi she could see more of the subtle characteristics everyone had. Upon entering the dorm building, she passed by two curious gentlemen heading south, one of which sparked with electricity, a phenomenon she only saw during bad storms. Her attention quickly changed as she bypassed everyone up the stairs until she reached her room. The door was already open, so Emi just flew right in and plopped down on the first surface she saw, a desk housing a cauldron and some books.
Emi took a couple deep breaths, wrestling with paper sails to go where she needed was not the easiest task to complete, but she had managed. She quickly fixed the paper so it was more in a neat pile next to her she looked around the room. While nowhere near as large as the amphitheater, the room was huge compared to Emi’s small size.
“Wooooow,” She said quietly before taking to the air again. “This is amazing.” Everything about this academy was different that what she was used to at home. Instead of fairy sized rooms, with fairy sized furniture built into a tree, this room was made of stone, covered by stone, and structured with wood. Usually she saw stone be split by trees, but here, it was the other way around. She guessed that gentle giant beings needs to make things more suitable for them. On another desk there was a small bundle of belongings, Emi’s belongings. She flew to them and looked through to make sure she had everything. There was also a small flower brush, with barely any branches, a decent perch for Mimi. Next to them was a large package made of various plant materials, written at the top said “For Emi”.
She opened the package and inside she found an outfit, much large than she was. Her family had the foresight that perhaps a school that houses several beings who more often than not will be much larger than Emi, they would be a tad less accommodating for her smaller size. Not out of malice, of course, but by lack of necessity. So with the new outfit, she would be able to use some of her own magic to increase her height. She couldn’t make herself a giant by any means, but she could at least be at a size where she could handle class materials without struggling.
When she was done going over her things, she took another look around the room, where she spotted the other person already here. She looked human, but with all the new faces around, she was not sure. Perhaps she was hiding elf ears behind her hair. Quickly darting up her, hovering inches from her face, Emi started speaking excitedly.
“Hi! Are you my roommate? What’s your name? My name is Emi, nice to meet you!” Emi flew around in circle as she spoke, still facing her new friend, Siofra. “It’s so exciting to be here isn’t it? Learning to help others, it’s such a great idea! So what are you studying? I was not sure myself, so I went with elemental magic, but maybe I’ll find something that really catches my attention. Wait, is that my bed?!” Before Siofra could properly answer any of the questions, she flew to the bed that sat in the middle of the others, purposefully crash-landing into the mattress.
