So the tags are a bit of a mess because this is basically a suggestion of two ideas for people to potentially take and evolve into something good. I don't have any interest in RPing either of them myself (I'm stretched thin on RPs as it is) and I suck as a GM, but I'd be interested to see what people more inventive than me could do with the ideas. So hopefully one or both will catch your interest and they'll get made into something good.
Hope these gather some interest~
In the year 2023, an event called the "Deep Night" occurred, in which every animal on earth fell asleep simultaneously for 48 hours. Due to modern conveniences such as vehicles, this caused a lot of damage to the more heavily populated parts of the world as drivers fell asleep in their cars and planes. During these 48 hours, another event known as "Hades' Touch" occurred, in which all electronic devices on the planet went offline for 13 hours. The death toll from this was astounding; medical life support alone caused much of it, while many medicines and foods that required refrigeration spoiled in this time leaving further turmoil for humans when they awoke.
However, the truly odd result of the Deep Night was that upon awakening, many humans found that they had metamorphosed into what became known as "Hybeasts," short for "Hybrid Beasts" or otherwise known as "Chimeras." These Chimeras were humans that had gained traits of other species, the most popularly well known example in fiction being the cat-person, in real life. While unknown, the truth of the matter is that there is one Chimera for every species of mammal, lizard, and reptile, as well as many types of insects and fish. These Chimera gained two notable changes aside from their appearance; they gained the base parameters of their animal counterpart, on top of the base parameters they had as a human, and they gained a mindset similar to their counterpart.
The combination of these events have left the world in turmoil, with most humans discriminating heavily against the Hybeasts. Not only does the average human fear and/or loathe Chimeras, the governments of the world wish to capture and research them, often against their will, and likely for the rest of their lives. This has led to many governments splitting up and military infighting as the members who remained human fought those who became Chimeras.
The Deep Night was caused by...?
Things to note:
(For example, a hawk Chimera can see as well as a human with perfect vision combined with a hawk with perfect vision, not just as well as a hawk, it's cumulative.)
(For example, feline chimeras have feline instincts and their personality leans towards that of a feline, though is not overtaken by the feline mindset, they're still mostly human.)

Long ago in another world there lived a creature with unimaginable power. It took the shape of a human with hair made of serpents, each of these countless snakes having unique eyes that granted them and their host powerful abilities. Now the creature is dying, and on its deathbed it chose to bring to its world many humans, granting each the power of a snake in the form of their eyes. These humans with eye powers are known as "Gorgons," and each is locked in a power struggle against each other for the full power of the original, the power of "endless sight." Each Gorgon can gain the power of another by consuming their eyes, and once per 24 hours a Gorgon may switch to another of their eye powers, but only once and only to one of the other eyes they possess per change. (Switch from eyes 1 to eyes 3, then must wait 24 hours to switch back or to eyes 2, for example.)
Most of these powers coincide with the personality of their bearer. These powers come in several types: Self-affecting, Other-affecting, Illusory, and Counteracting. Self-affecting eyes can range from granting superhuman strength to granting supernatural powers. Other-affecting can do anything from firing a beam of energy to forcing something to remain still in space. Illusory eyes give a form of control over illusions that affect other living things, or in some cases that affect the user. Finally, Counteracting eyes prevent the use or effect of another type of eye.
The Game is moderated by the Basilisk, a terrifying creature with eyes that can turn you to stone. The Game takes place in a world where humans have destroyed much of their own civilization and sent themselves back to the Bronze Age, if not the Stone Age.
Famous Examples of Eye Powers: Geass, Sharingan, Byakugan, Rinnegan, The Mekakushi Dan's eyes, etc.
Banned Eye Powers: Anything that can do more than one thing, Lelouch's Geass, King Charles' Geass, Mangekyo Sharingan, Clearing Eyes, Meeting Eyes, etc.
