"We should learn from the past to create a better future."
Name:
Rosanna Abernathy
Nicknames:
Ro, Rosie
Age:
17
Gender:
Female
Origin:
Celestic Town
Appearance:
Rosie is a fairly petite girl, standing at 5'3" and weighing 110 pounds. With soft features and big, hazel eyes, she has a rather cute "girl next door" sort of look; however, this makes her seem just a tad bit younger than she really is. Her hair is a mousy brown that reaches just past her shoulders, though she prefers to keep it up in a ponytail. Rosie prefers comfortable, practical clothing, given her love for the outdoors that usually leaves her looking a little messy. She does her best to stay well-kept, though this is often futile.
Personality:
Rosie is, in a word, adventurous. She's never been able to stay still, always seeking out some sort of discovery. With an insatiable curiosity and restless ambition, Rosie has never been able to stop herself from going after what she wants. Her goals are always at the forefront of her mind, with little room for much else. Her work ethic is a force to be reckoned with; oftentimes, her priorities can become skewed, as she frequently abandons her physical and mental well-being for the sake of her ambition.
Of course, working isn't all there is to her. Rosie makes a point of being friendly; extroverted and outgoing, she finds it easy to befriend others, and isn't afraid to approach strangers for the sake of conversation. She's rather easy to talk to, always happy to offer a smile to anyone who passes by. Rosie genuinely enjoys getting to know other people, always listening intently to their thoughts and opinions. Her cheerful, energetic persona can get the best of her sometimes, as she tends to run headfirst into things without much forethought.
Despite seeming like a bit of an airhead, Rosie is a surprisingly intelligent girl, displaying impressive knowledge of her fields of study. She has a deep passion for research, with a tendency to talk at-length about a given subject with anyone who asks. She's a fast learner, capable of picking up new skills rather easily; with a sharp, observant gaze, she tends to pick up on things that others might miss. This comes in handy during battle, especially when paired with her scientific knowledge of Pokemon. Rosie enjoys challenges and solving problems, stubbornly refusing to give in until she overcomes them.
Short Biography:
Growing up in Celestic Town is a little...slow, to say the least. With a population of just 22, it barely even qualifies as a town to begin with. But even from a young age, Rosie always seemed to make the best of it. Being the only child of two loving and doting parents-a pair of retired archaeologists-she had all the love and attention she could ever want. She developed an early love for reading, quickly making her way through all the books her parents owned. Her passion for learning was quickly noticed by her parents, who made sure to foster it as much as they could.
But of course, there's only one thing Celestic Town really has to offer: the Celestic Ruins. As such, Rosie found herself spending a great deal of time there, her curiosity drawing her to the etchings inside. These etchings spawned an early fascination with Pokemon, especially their role in Sinnoh's history. Rosie began to spend more time studying Pokemon in particular, with a renewed fervor that surprised even her parents. Still, they made sure to support her, buying whatever study materials she asked for. She learned about different species, their evolution, how they might be related to one another, their capabilities, and more. She became especially fascinated with the interactions that Pokemon have had with humans over time; the symbiotic relationship between the two, their role in society, and how battling has shaped Sinnoh's modern culture. During this time, she developed a heavy reliance on caffeine to keep her awake late into the night.
But eventually, books alone weren't enough to satisfy her. With the protection of some of her parents' Pokemon, Rosie began to venture short distances outside of Celestic Town, studying Pokemon in the wild. She found battling to be a very effective means of study, and actually took to it rather quickly. She began to pay more attention to the professional battles shown on TV as well, taking note of the way that trainers interact with their Pokemon. Once again, her parents sought to encourage her; they called in an old research partner, who quickly took interest in Rosie's work. After some time, it was decided that the best way for her to continue researching Pokemon battles was for her to leave Celestic Town altogether. It just so happened that the gym challenge would be starting up soon; sensing a great opportunity, he endorsed her, promising that if she did well enough he'd hire her as a full-time field researcher. Of course, she accepted.
Shortly after, her parents bought Rosie a very special gift: a Pokemon egg. With a great deal of care and love, the egg hatched into a Riolu. The two are inseparable, never straying from each other's side.
