The Plot

Welcome to the future, the year 2500, on planet Earth. Mars has been terraformed and some people do live there, but we've successfully saved Earth from becoming uninhabitable, and most of the human population still lives here. Then there are those that live on space stations bound for distant planets, but more on all this later...

Our story takes place on planet Earth of "Universe 0". Before we continue, it is important to note that our universe exists outside the realm of "Grand Zeno, The Omni King's" control. In fact, it can be assumed that Grand Zeno has so much control over the universes in the Dragon Ball cannon, because he likely created them (or was at least around before their creation). It is even possible that Zeno himself was originally from "Universe 0". This is a possibility we can explore in the future.

All characters in the beginning of this RP will be human. In fact, while intelligent life has been spotted on other far away planets, there has never been an alien on Planet Earth (at least not to our knowledge). And Earth's closest space station to reaching one of those distant planets is still not due to land for another 400 years.

For now, we return our attention to more micro-scale issues, like the "World Martial Arts Tournament". The tournament is held every five years, and we will start out tale at the 50th edition of this great competition. Thus, this is a two hundred and fifty year old martial arts tradition. The tournament was started after medical science became so advanced that nearly all near death injuries (including loss of limbs) could easily be healed. Since then, warriors from around the world have been competing and giving it their all to be crowned as the world's strongest fighter.

So, after creating your human character (who should obviously be a fighter), you will then begin to advance your way through the tournament. Then we will jump right into it. Your first post will be a summary of you arriving at the tournament grounds. I will wait for two people to start us off. The first person will introduce their character. The second person's character will meet the first person's character. What kind of relationship you two choose to build is entirely up to you (i.e. whether they already know each other, whether they like each other, whether they dislike each other).

After our first two contestants are introduced, I will move the story forward. For those interested in joining this RP, if you aren't one of the first two people to post in the IC section, don't worry. Your characters will be able to join the action soon after.

Now before you make your character, let's go ahead and take a look at how battles will be decided. There will be two "game stats" in this RP: Health and Power Level. These two stats are linked, because your Max Health and Power Level will always be equal to each other. Of course when you take damage, your health will decrease, and when you use a special technique, your Power Level will temporarily increase. For now, I won't dive further into this. You will learn more about this as you participate in the RP.

Okay! Now please turn to the "Characters" tab to see character guidelines!

Hello, you three: @Darkmoon Angel@JrVader@Vongola_Hasayo

Welcome to the beginning of this RP. You can ask questions here, but if everything makes sense to you so far, you can go ahead and create your starting character sheets in the Characters section.

Just a quick one, after the initial arc do we keep our human character with our alien character if we decide to make one or can we/do we completely switch?

Judging by the introduction, I can assume that you are still open and you can even wait for me to get through the convention I'm in before trying anything? I have certain interest, but I will not have immediate time, you see. I'll just leave this here with a question: Technology's grown to the point of curing severe inhabilitation (lost limbs) with ease, but do we still have cybernetics?

Also, Bal, quick fix: You meant Earth was saved from becoming uninhabitable.

Yes. I'm going to let this RP be constantly taking in new characters. I want people to be able to come and go as they please.

As for your question, yes cybernetics can be a thing, but only for two reasons I would think. Basic cybernetics would be a cheaper fix for poorer people (the lower class if you will). A robot arm is cheaper than a genetically engineered human arm. Still, people with money, might look to cybernetics as a way to "upgrade" their body.

Hmmm. May or may not run the character in mind as being cyberneticised, then. Still, I'll drop something soon.

I like both of your characters. I'll make the opening post tomorrow morning. The. You two can make your first posts.

And just an FYI, to get an idea of the "power scale", someone with a power level of 5 is basically a well trained fighter by real world standards, and 8 would be the best fighter in the real world. So a power level of 10 would be a few notches above what is physically possible by real life standards. So with your power levels at 100 is basically ten times that.

Non-player controlled contestants, the (ones I control) will be from power level 20 to about 80. Only your player controlled characters will be at 100 (for now).

So basically, until an actual threat appears, our characters are super human? XD

Well basically, yes. As far as this world martial arts tournament goes, I'd like one of the players to win it. But those contestants with a power level of 80 could still give you a run for your money if you're unlucky.

Okay you two: @Darkmoon Angel@FalloutJack

You can go ahead and make your opening posts. In your opening posts, I want you to show us what's going on inside their heads. Your post can start whenever you like and end with defeating your first opponent in the preliminaries, with ease I would assume.

Then you'll both have to beat a stronger (but still "easy") opponent controlled by myself. Then we'll time skip to your last preliminary battle, also against a character controlled by myself. Then we'll move on to the next day.

Once we move on to the next day, if we have more people wanting to join this RP, they will be able to join at that time.

@Darkmoon Angel
So the way battles work, is that you have your Health (which lowers as you fight), your Base Power (which usually stays the same and is equal to your character's full health), and your Attacking Power.

Your Attack Power is the key here. For now we're learning the basics, which is that any time you attack, you can use up to or less than your Base Power to attack. The thing is, you will automatically take damage equal to 10% of your Attack Power used. So right now, Ivan the Russian is already going to loose 2 health points.

In your response post, you will decide how strong your attack will be. You can do anything from 10 to 100 (in multiples of 10 to make the math easier). Then, I will roll two dice equal to our characters' Attack Power (doing at LEAST 40% of your Attack Power in damage to your opponent). EDIT: Upped guaranteed damage to 40%

If that doesn't sound easy to understand, don't worry about it. Just pick a number between 10 and 100 (divisible by 10) and watch what happens.

I literally just saw your post. It looked good to me. It would be too much if you were going against another player controlled character, but not against me. All good. I'll role dice and post again tomorrow.

@FalloutJack and I'll also address your last post in my next post.

@FalloutJack

So I'll let you finish the battle between Niko and Anthony, because I'm sure there would be more to Niko's attack than one sweeping kick (unless you think that kick would send him for a flip, land him on his neck, and knock him out or something... which is entirely possible). So I'll let you add on to a longer combo move, or describe the damage of that one kick better.

Also, you can control Anthony's moves too, if you don't think the few hits I described would account for the 19 damage his attack caused.

No problem. Although, after looking at the roller, I got a question: Can you do the rolls in like a series of tens, like they do in Exalted? I feel like there's a chance to potentially Nat One when someone using - say, for instance - a power 100 attack, and it shouldn't do just one to a potentially weaker opponent. If possible to do it with a series of d10s, you'd roll at least a better minimum damage if you rolled horribly.
