On most days, Gleebridge as a happy city. A sparkling, shiny metropolis that casts no shadows, unless the sun is shining at an angle corresponding to any hour of the day that wasn't noon. Yes, despite winning the 'Happiest Town on Earth' award for three years running, Gleebridge is just like any other place: probably with way more crime than anyone talks about.

And never is this more right than now. A mysterious event known as the Midnight Poems returns to the city after its disappearance years ago. Horribly written and horribly prophetic, the Poems tell of tragedies yet to come, and come they do, no matter how bizarre and improbable the tellings are. Now the Midnight Poems are becoming more frequent, deadlier, and drawing quite a lot of attention to what was once just an urban legend.

It leaves a bad taste in the mouths of every Gleebridge citizen, and several questions in their minds; who writes the Midnight Poems? Do they predict the future or write it? What will they target next? Why have they returned after all this time?

And can we get this guy some writing lessons?

No preexisting knowledge of either the show or the streams are needed to play.

@CaptainCaptcha@sassy1085@Paradoxial

Hope the thread is to your liking. Now, then, let's set the scene for the start of this...

Chapter One: Hardcover Promise

With the Midnight Poems' return to Gleebridge, the police are on high alert, especially since the Poems seem to be incredibly lethal and crime-worthy. The GPD has sent out a "party" of officers to secure a Person of Interest - one Bibi Lotecha, former handwriting analyst and current owner of the Librarium Emporium. What starts out as an ordinary assignment will end up as anything but, since it's not just the police that want a word with Bibi.

Now you don't need to be the GPD members here. You could very well be an employee of the Librarium Emporium, a helpful (and persistent) passerby, or some other third thing that's probably a better idea! (Though it would help if there are some...)

So okay, I'm second-guessing myself a bit here, so I'm gonna change something. Yeah, before we even start, but I think the way I did it made things too muddled.

Instead of the arbitrary "Star" system for the three stats, and there being three in the first place, I'm dialing it down to just Stamina and Proficiency - limiting what a character can do cuz of some arbitrary Creativity stat is weird and I ended up not liking it.

I'll also be switching up how Stamina and Proficiency is gotten, where instead of stars you'll need to Roll for them. Adds more to the random element, and also won't gimp a character.

If anyone thinks this is also a dumb idea (because honestly I'm pretty new to being a GM here) please say so. Please.

Oh, ah, sorry to say but the Creation process was supposed to be done over PM? Epithet picking, power discussion, etc etc. Just so that this thread doesnt get cluttered with shop talk?

I don't know how many PMs TruthHurts is actually sorting through, but considering I've slowly been going back and forth with them over PMs for almost a week, I figure it's high time I announce my presence, bumping the thread in the process because it really deserves it and saying hi to anyone else out there lurking silently. Happy new years and all that.

Wanting to say that at the moment we're a bit full! Anyone who wants to join can still theoretically, but character creation for this chapter is locked down. Don't want to get overstuffed at the word Go is all. :b

Finally finished, and it only took a week and a half.

Meanwhile, @gentlemanvaultboy, you finished in like 2 days, right?

Well, since there's focus here now (and I remembered that the thread exists) I wanna get a consensus on this.

@Mattie_@vanovick@Calico@IceSolstice, you guys too.

I was on the fence about whether or not to include the more dice-rolling elements of the original game going in, and that's still sorta what's happening, so I wanted to get some opinions on how the RP should go: should there be dice-rolling involved, or not? And if there is, should it be kept solely to Abilities, Talents, and the like, or should characters have to roll to do anything particularly fancy or impressive?

Please please please no more elements left up to RNG!

I don't think I'd last the week if I had to roll dice to determine success of actions...

Yea, I'd definitely prefer for the dice-rolling to be kept to the stat-related things like Abilities/Talents/Weapons and such.

Rolling for abilities/weapons/talents to add a random element is fine if desired. Rolling to determine action outcomes in a forum environment might be less than ideal, since that would likely require your input after every post. Still, I do recommend having people roll if they'd like to attempt things that seem a bit far-fetched, or for general comedic effect.

I don't have any preference either, I'm pretty new to this so whatever you guys think is best!

@Ryik

Yeah, I had some time so I just knocked it out in a day or two.

As for rolls I agree with Ryik. I'm pretty good about failing when I should, so only rolling when I try something ridiculous appeals to me. I'd play with rolling normally, but don't feel strongly about it.
