Noah Edward Cooper

Age: 27

Gender: Male

Hogwarts House: Hufflepuff

Professor of: Transfiguration

Biography:
Pre-Hogwarts
Born on Tuesday 18th August 1992, Noah had a stable childhood despite growing up during the Second Wizarding War. His parents, Neil and Jane Cooper both worked together for the Department of Magical Accidents and Catastrophes at the British Ministry of Magic, the former a member of the Invisibility Task Force, the latter an Obliviator. Frequently working together around the country, the couple enjoyed extensive travel before settling down in South London to start a family.
Family life with baby Noah was bliss until the events of June 1996 when the couple, newly pregnant, realized that their children were in danger through their proximity to the Ministry. Now both highly revered in their respective departments, the couple successfully applied for sabbaticals at the Federal Bureau of Covert Vigilance and No-Maj Obliviation at the MACUSA headquarters in New York. During the Second Wizarding War, the couple repeatedly returned to the UK in order to support the Ministry, comforted in the knowledge that their children were safe in the US.
The couple returned to their Balham home in 1999 and (using their American experience) assisted in the restructuring of their departments during Kingsley Shacklebolt’s term in office. Noah continued to learn about the magical world from his parents until he received his Hogwarts letter in early August 2003.

Hogwarts
2003-04 - Sorted into Hufflepuff, Noah remained a bookish child but intensely hardworking, discovering a natural aptitude for transfiguration, an interest in DADA, a love for Herbology and a particular fear of flying.

2004-05 - His second year continued in the same vein as the first, with Noah cementing some strong friendships, demolishing any extended reading list and refusing to try out for Quidditch despite his father’s urging.

2005-06 - Forbidden from taking Divination by his parents, Noah elected to study Arithmancy, Care of Magical Creatures and Muggle Studies in his third year. He also developed a keen interest in Animagi.

2007-07 - His studies continued with him excelling at switching spells and spending Christmas that year in New York.

2007-08 - His uncovered skill at learning vanishing spells in his fifth year would eventually lead to his future career, but at the time warranted his promotion to Hufflepuff prefect.

  • Charms - Outstanding
  • Defense Against the Dark Arts - Outstanding
  • Herbology - Outstanding
  • History of Magic - Acceptable
  • Potions - Exceeds Expectations
  • Transfiguration - Outstanding

2008-09 - With a clear view to joining his parents at the Ministry Noah elected to take: Arithmancy, Charms, Defence Against the Dark Arts, Herbology & Transfiguration. He swiftly dropped Advanced Arithmancy Studies and was upset that not enough of his peers were sufficiently interested to run an Alchemy course. He successfully gained his apparition licence.

2009-10 - Studying hard for his N.E.W.T.s meant that Noah didn’t really make the most of the social side of his final year, with all his spare time taken up with his study in the library, prefect duties and practical work in the greenhouses.

Post-Hogwarts
2010-12
After graduation, his mother quickly secured him a clerical position in the Accidental Magic Reversal Squad, Department of Magical Accidents and Catastrophes, where he remained for a couple of years with only small promotions but learning the intricacies of the Ministry’s inner workings. His well-honed ability for Untransfigurations and Vanishings was only truly noticed after he dealt with a particularly strong Pullus jinx accidentally cast in a corridor, swiftly transforming all the poultry back into their original objects and sweeping the hallway clear of droppings and downy feathers in seconds. His school record was quickly pulled and the connection to his parents was made. The next day they were intensely proud as their son was swiftly promoted onto the squad proper.

2012-16
Noah spent the next few years travelling the UK, and Europe when needed, reversing accidental magic, specializing in Untransfigurations. In 2014, when his sister Ellen graduated Hogwarts to become a herbologist, Noah was asked to start writing a more in-depth field guide for Untransfigurations in the field, with the purpose of sharing knowledge amongst wizarding authorities with increasing muggle populations.

2016-18
His research and practice lead to a trip of Europe and then a secondment to MACUSA’s Federal Bureau of Covert Vigilance and No-Maj Obliviation, in the footsteps of his parents.

2019
The Calamity occurring led the Ministry to recall Noah from the USA to help with the cover-up of the ever-increasing number of Foundables and Confoundables, and to be an information liaison with MACUSA regarding Untransfigurating Confoundables. His systems and processes were all set up and in place when he received his second letter summoning him to Hogwarts. He was initially wary, not prepared to give up his career. But realizing it was an opportunity that no one would dare pass up he has accepted, glad to still be able to continue his writing and research.

Favorite Hogwarts Memory:
“Oh gosh. Erm… Oh wait I’ve got it. Definitely Christmas of my sixth year. Mom and Dad were in New York visiting friends and took Ellen, but I wanted to stay at Hogwarts because I’d gone with them the year before. It turned out that a few of the other prefects were staying as well so… We got lots of booze in from Hogsmede and had a huge pool party in the prefects’ bathroom, inviting loads of our mates. The one and only time I broke the school rules intentionally. I’d had a couple of late library books. And also my first real kiss. I wonder if Ellis Ackroyd remembers that or whether he was too drunk…?”[/INDENT]

Bex 'the Hex' Bierman. An aptly monikered nickname for the Bierman girl. Given at first as an endearing code name from her elder siblings - as all siblings tease and pick on one another, it was bound to happen regardless. However, as Bex continued to grow and experience more that life had to offer, the nickname no longer became something she cherished.

Nor did anyone else for that matter.

The night of her 10th birthday was like any other. As her family settled in for the evening, everything seemed right. It wasn't until she was choked awake by the suffocating, smoke filled air around her that she began to panic. The house had caught fire in the early hours of the morning. Her parents and other siblings rushed outside to get away from the dangers of the smoke and fire and ash. Bex, however, was not so lucky. She and her twin, Dani, were trapped upstairs. Beams from the ceiling had collapsed under the weight and strain of the burning roof above it falling onto the staircase. Engulfing the area in green flames. That was something that Bex would never forget. The odd color of the flames that encased their home in the early hours. Such a strange color, she remembers thinking. It acted like regular fire, but there was something about it. Something different. Something that resonated with her. Something sinister and dark and foreboding.

Eventually, her brother, busted through the debris and flames to rescue her and her sister. He escaped with a few minor burns and scrapes, but Bex would forever be scarred across her back having been trapped beneath fallen roofing. The next few days after the incident were strange and flew by in a blur. The only thing keeping her sane was that they were all still together. Mother, father, Mickey, Molly and of course, her twin; Dani. Bex had wondered why the others seemed to ignore Dani after that incident. And anytime she brought up Dani they would cry, or tear up and furiously send Bex away. One time she mentioned that Dani wanted to plant some more gerber daisies - her favorite. Poliannah Bierman did not take kindly to that sentence and slapped her daughter hard across the face. Bex didn't understand, she was 11 at the time. Still learning what she can about the world.

The summer before attending Hogwarts for her first year, introduced new horrors to the Bierman family. The first would come as no surprise due to the shady under dealings that her parents were or were not involved with. Her mother was "caught in the crossfire" between a few Death Eaters and was killed. She was just "at the wrong place at the wrong time" or so the detectives claimed. But he knew better. It was a depressing start to the summer for everyone. The second would come to them in the form of realization that Bex suffered from Paranoid Schizophrenia.

It was during those many trips that she would accompany her father to the tattoo parlor that they owned and just sit and watch and learn the trade. One of those happy summer days, the light streaming in through the shoppe's front windows, the smell of ink and hand sanitizer and leather and sweat filled the walls around her. She sat with Dani at their father's station towards the middle of the shoppe, just doodling away on her own skin with a permanent marker. A Gerber daisy; similar to her father's. When Mickey swung by and asked what she was doing and why that flower she simply replied, "It's Dani's favorite. Right Dan?" Bex had even turned to face her twin, who was mimicking her own actions. Her brother seemed disheartened and worried. Here was his younger sister, sitting there drawing on her skin, talking to a ghost. A fading memory for everyone else but the twin who was no more. He had had his doubts for awhile now. At first humoring his sister - thinking it was just a coping strategy for her. It wasn't until Bex would turn 12 that they would come to find out, officially, that she suffers from Paranoid Schizophrenia. And that her Dani, was just a hallucination derived from the illness.

Even to this day, Bex can't believe, or rather doesn't want to believe that all her interactions with Dani have been hallucinations. That growing up with her twin all these years, has just been her and her alone. It's a sad thing, a twin growing up alone in the world. She was placed on some medication to help her cope with her hallucinations and episodes, however as a teen going through different changes without the help from a severe conditions, Bex didn't like what the meds were doing to her. She wasn't eating, all she did was sleep - which granted she needed - and the most important thing that bothered Bex was the fact that she never got to see her twin. So, without the knowledge of her family, she stopped taking the meds by the end of her 4th year. Everyone around her even noticed the drastic change. They assumed it was because she finally got acclimated to her medications and they continued on as usual.

Mickey was the only on to not follow in their parent's footsteps and join the Death Eaters. Molly jumped at the opportunity, being a wicked copy of their mother. A true golden child of the Bierman's. Hell, even Bex is torn between the ever prominent good vs evil. She would honestly rather sit back, relax, smoke some ganja and listen to some Zeppelin on vinyl while tattooing customers. Wouldn't that be the life?....

Rebekah Bierman | Slytherin
“A life of hardship and a mind of it too, there’s something about you that keeps you going, wake you up through the morning and pumps you through the day. Oh that’s it - your strength. Bex you’re tough as nails, you know those Hufflepuffs couldn’t withstand even a sliver of what you’ve been through, but we don’t need to tell you that, because you obviously already know. But you’ve got something we’ve never seen: the mind and physicality of an artist, an inspiration. Do not ever question, these two traits of your are keenly intertwined, and can only be sharpened, refined, shined in the best house for the hex, Slytherin”

Bex 'the Hex' would become a universal name within the Hogwarts walls after the first year of her arriving. Those students whose families were also Death Eaters would know her name well by familial reputations only. Nothing ever solid. Those who were friends, obviously. But the main reason she would become famously known is from any of the number of incidents that took place that first year.

The potions lab blowing up 2 months into the semester
The Mandrake screams of May 13th - a classic
Exploding puff pastries in the Great Hall
Numerous puking hexes going off throughout the corridors
And of course, let's not forget the time when, for whatever reason, the transfiguration professor, got stuck after showing off her own transfiguration that she couldn't revert back to her human state - at least for 6 hours

And what did these events, and so many others, have in common? Bex, the Hex, was present and accounted for in each scenario. There are some who state that it's just coincidence. But Bex knows better. Bad luck runs deep in her veins. It seems to follow her around like the plague. As of late, she's owned that moniker and tries to work on the crowd control aftermath anytime something seems to shift blame in her direction. She's too laid back to jump on anyone for stupid shit that happens. Though, with her lack of sleep and mind coming and going from 0 - 100; it's becoming increasingly difficult to stop her mouth before she spouts out insults and a prickly attitude follows......

Cultivating her own personal garden and learning anything else about Herbology she didn't acquire while in school. Bex absolutely loves gardening, she always has. She's always had a sort of green thumb when it came to the different flora she was exposed to.
Aside from gardening she finds work in her family's tattoo parlor - inking up customers both maj and no-maj alike.
Bex is still visited by her twin, though now as she's gotten older and more things take up her attention she has come to find her deceased twin's visits fewer and far between.
She is sporadically taking her meds - because she does want to see her sister and she still hates how she feels when ingesting the pills.
Bex spends as much time with Mickey as possible. However, since he is constantly on the move, traveling to different places, she never knows when exactly he's in town and when he will pick up and move again.
Bex has a great relationship with her father, despite his Death Eater ways. She honestly thinks he doesn't know that she knows, so she leaves it at that. They get along well, living not far from one another. She also spends a lot of her free time with him at the tattoo parlor so, they get a lot of father / daughter time
She has recently been given the opportunity to teach her favorite subject at her alma mater - so this should be interesting~

Devin Coal

Age: 26

Gender: Male

Hogwarts House: Hufflepuff

Professor of: Care for Magical Creatures

Biography:

Born on April 2nd Devin was a wonderful addition to an already busy household. An only child, his family had very firm roots in the muggle world with his mother being a middle school principal and his father working as a professor of Zoological Medicine at university. This meant it was impossible for Devin not to fall in love with animals of all kinds through his father. In his younger years everyone was oblivious to his magical awakening due to the fact that animals were often the only ones to witness them. One time he was walking their dog and a bigger dog came barking at them. Scared of the oncoming threat Devin started to run and hide only to watch as his families dog suddenly grew twice its size and scare off the attacking dog. By the time his parents were home the dog had returned to its normal size.

When his parents received his letter to Hogwarts it was a shock to them both, but mostly to his mother. Sure, she was learning that her son was a Wizard, but even more she was now learning that instead of attending her school there was an entirely new educational system in store for Devin. This was not immediately decided and after earning a very rare and short tour of the school Devin’s mother finally accepted that her son was not going to muggle school. Instead he would be attending Hogwarts. As well as a muggle summer school she selected. That was her one stipulation. The extra school happened right away and the summer before attending Hogwarts was one of the most accedemically brutal times in his scholastic career.

When Devin first arrived at the train for Hogwarts he was excited to see the magic world in full force. He was nervous of course, but soon enough he realized there were plenty of other ‘new to the magic world’ students and even more students wanting to make friends he quickly. As soon as a bat can turn Devin found himself a part of several social groups to pass the time in the halls and study sessions between class. In his early years he would often visit the Owlery and sketch the owls which he would send home to his father who loved them and kept every one. Over time he started to get pretty good and requests came in to make copies and send them to the owls owner.

Around his fourth year Devin began to invest more time and energy into some of his classes. It came as no surprise that Care of Magical Creatures earned the most attention. Soon enough he began to self study his way beyond the school curriculum and dove head first into self academics. To keep him busy the professor would more often have him assist with classes than actual be a student. With the help of the schools network as well as some friends of his he received several recommendations from Hogwarts which allowed him to start taking summer internships with different members of the magical creatures’ field. After getting the green light from his parents he began to spend part of every summer working with a research group around Europe. These opportunities helped Devin decide to commit to the field and graduate with an impressive resume.

With school behind him Devin was able to find work quickly in the magical world. He spent his time working with several different ministries drafting and providing subject matter expertise for a new sweeping agreement to better protect and assist with large sized magical migration creatures. The role meant traveling a lot which he enjoyed immensely. His travels allowed him to continue his own research and has given birth to a new hobby of his – Muggle Bird Watching. When he got the letter from the new Hogwarts Headmaster inviting him to take the position of professor of Care for Magical Creatures his initial thought was to politely decline; however, curiosity got the better of him and he decided to accept.

One week before school was to start he was more nervous then he was when he was about to start attending as a student. He wrote several letters to his old professor who happily shared his teaching guides and notes. Wanting to make a good impression Devin had begun to completely redraw the entire lesson plans for every year. As quickly as he could he drafted his mothers help who was excited to help her son in a world that she still knew little about. Obviously his father was happy to help as well and to prepare for the new role he ended up staying at his folks place for the rest of the summer.

Favorite Hogwarts Memory:

In his 3rd year Devin was given detention for skipping class with some friends. Their punishment was assisting the groundskeeper and Herbology professor with some basic gardening and gathering in the Forbidden Forest. During their visit to the Forbidden Forest the group happened upon a meadow where a small group of Unicorns were grazing.

Devin was unbearable for nearly a month after this as he talked about it nonstop. His obsession was part fascination over the beauty of the creatures and some parts the fact that his wands core was a unicorn hair. Needless to say detention had to get more creative due to the fact that for a week after Devin was doing nearly all he could to get the same punishment.

Noah Cooper - Transfiguration
- Character Connections

Bex - Herbology
Noah has known Bex since first year, most of which was spent avoiding her after their potions class went up in flames for the second time. It was only when they were assigned as greenhouse partners in second year that the most unexpected friendship began. Noah was tending their mandrake project, in protective earmuffs, when Bex scared the life out of him with a tap on the shoulder. Visibly upset, she somehow reminded him of his young sister when surrounded by plants and he made his best attempt to take her mind off things by pottering together around the greenhouses and quizzing one another on herbology facts, before finally ending in a hilarious leaping toadstool race.

The next 5 years were spent as the gardening dream team, Noah making sure Bex revised for her other subjects and her forcing him to actually let his hair down occasionally. She’s also the mastermind behind his Christmas pool party but he has always maintained his distance from her pranks. His prefecture was also a boon for Hufflepuffs, with far fewer pranks played upon them, well from Slytherin at least.

Despite his parents’ disapproval of their friendship, it was their one wish that he rebelled against and they’ve since come around to like her, with Noah’s sister, now an herbologist herself, frequently inviting Bex over to her nursery and florist. They have since holidayed together and Noah’s left wrist is home to a drunkenly decided upon tattoo of a leaping toadstool that proceeds to hop around his arm in Bex’s presence. He cannot wait to teach alongside her but has his concerns around her being on the other side of the desk…

Thomas - DADA
Noah and Thomas first met in a small wooden boat as is crossed the Great Lake, but they wouldn't speak until 2 months later when they realised they had both become semi-permanent residents of the library. From then on a friendship was struck despite the house difference, Noah finding a fascination in Thomas' explanation of Muggle technology and Thomas finding equal awe in Noah's revelations about the wizarding world.

Remaining friends throughout their years at Hogwarts, they visited one another's family homes and supported one another through both exam seasons. However, since working at the Ministry they have grown apart, empty promises of 'we need to grab a butterbeer soon' and 'you should come round for dinner sometime', flitting between them as their work constantly keeps them in separate locales.

Devin - CoMC
Noah was initially in awe at the level of intuition Devin had when it came to magical creatures and probably wouldn’t have his Exceeds Expectations O.W.L. were it not for his housemate. To this day Devin is the only person Noah’s pet Kneazle, Minerva, has ever immediately taken a liking to, surprising everyone in the Cooper household. In return Noah helped Devin with transfiguration, undoing many failed practice attempts.

Whilst good friends at school, both their jobs kept them estranged, apart from one chance fleeting meeting in New York, crossing paths as Noah headed back to the UK and Devin out to the Great Plains to advise on Jackalope migrations. He’s looking forward to catching up and hearing all about his school friend’s adventures.

Elliot - HoM
Noah was ecstatic to find out he was at school with a Fortescue - a descendant of a previous headmaster. Well, that and he prided himself on having tried every ice cream flavour over the years, trips to try new releases have become a tradition with his father. Yet they didn’t even speak until Elliot happened to join his and Thomas’ usual spot in the library and strike up a hushed conversation. Whilst initially glad for Elliot’s expansive knowledge of history, Noah’s least favourite subject, he soon found himself crushing on the dark-eyed Ravenclaw, but too cowardly to act upon it, especially not after the dung-kiss of fourth year. Not even in their fifth year at the bonfire, he’d been dragged to, despite being a newly chosen prefect, did he make a move.

It was only in the steam and tipsy revels of their Christmas pool party after bemoaning the lack of alchemy that they finally kissed. The outgoing Ravenclaw and the stoic Hufflepuff, seemed often to be in the wrong houses when together, but had a fling throughout their last year and a half at Hogwarts. They mutually agreed it could never work after graduation as Elliot left for his travels straight away. They’ve met up when they happen to be in the same country, the catch-up more oft than not resulting in too much drink and a shared bed. It’s been a while though and Noah thought he had gotten over his feelings... But with the prospect of them working closely together at Hogwarts has dredged up many memories and emotions he thought he had put aside.

Dragana - Astronomy
Noah has never warmed to Dragana, her fierceness on the Quidditch pitch and stories of her family leading him to avoid her. He envied her naturally gifts for, and extensive experience of, astronomy, something he’d had little exposure to growing up in light-polluted cities, but his caution turned to distaste after he accidentally fell foul to a dungbomb of hers in their fourth year. The situation was made even worse whereby, whilst covered in a fetid odour he encountered a remaining patch of her rogue kiss-istletoe and was forced to kiss his secret crush Elliot whilst trying not to heave.

Whilst not the target of either prank Dragana had the cheek to blame him for ruining her prank that had been ordered by someone else to hit the librarian. He then made it his personal mission as a prefect to try and foil her schemes and black book dealings, albeit with very little success. He is not looking forward to having to work with her.

Naia - Charms
Noah knows Naia mostly as a pain in his backside from his prefect years - frequently catching her and her motley crew sneaking around at night. Their most memorable encounter was him finding her loitering outside the Hufflepuff common room in a large hat, this time actually waiting for Noah to find her. She had transfigured her hair into sparkling bioluminescence that was actually rather impressive in the dark of the kitchens. But she quickly explained that whilst unnoticeable during the day it was keeping both her and her roommates awake at night. Noah gladly agreed to untransfigure her hair on the condition that her nighttime escapades avoided the corridors he patrolled.

The last he heard of her was overhearing some gossip about her being a curse-breaker whilst he was on a joint venture with the Office for the Removal of Curses, Jinxes, and Hexes.

World Traveler Playing Devin Coal

Character Connection with Noah

Devin and Noah were quick to make friends due to them being in the same house and being pretty even tempered during the whole first year. Sharing study hall breaks and a few midnight cram sessions together help build a healthy same house friendship through the years.

Due to growing up in a mostly muggle household meant Devin was jealous that Noah had a magical pet and would shower it with love and affection at any chance he got. Staying in touch through owls and the lucky meeting in New York, the two shared the news of their invitation to Hogwarts around the same time.

The friendship continued past their school years, but was primarily kept alive through owls and a fortunate crossing of paths in New York City where they got lunch and drank long into the night while laughing at new and old stories alike. Later they each shared with the other that they had been invited to teach at Hogwarts and had accepted the position. They have since been arguing over what drink they should toast the news to when they arrived at the school.

Character Connection with Thomas

Since they had their first Charms class together Devin and Thomas have had a fairly public rivalry. This competitive spirit between the two wasn't born from resentment or distrust, but instead a simple case of 'boys will be boys'. The friendly rivalry also helped them grow into the young men that they have become as they, through their time at school and beyond, continually pushed each other. If one got a date to a dance the other had to push through nerves and worry of embarrassment and fess up and ask a gal so at least he could say he tried. When one got a mention in the Daily Prophet after leading a successful project in their line of work the other would be unfortunate to receive an extra copy of it mailed to them by the other.

At one point during their time in school the two somehow came to the conclusion that the other was worst at divination. Unfortunately this was a class neither of them had any real talent in. This lead to a two week long contest that involved both of them forcing all their friends to drink tea and compete over reading the leafs. Needless to say it only finally stopped when neither of them were that good and they called it off after they declared everyone who drank tea was going to die, eventually.

Character Connection with Elliot

Elliot and Devin weren't that terribly close during school. Never enemies or friends they were just two students in the same year as far as their opinions of each other went. It wasn't until they connected during one of Elliot's research trips that they started a friendship. Devin was in the process of mapping out a new Impundulu collective and their migration patterns. While in Africa Elliot reached out having been told Devin had experience traveling in the magical community of Africa. They met up and quickly found they enjoyed learning about each others work. They both spoke to them with such energy it got hard to stop them once they got started.

Over the years their friendship continued with each letting the other know when a trip was on their horizon. Sometimes their trips or adventures would line up making for a pleasant surprise while other times they were used as an excuse to travel and see what the other was studying. Their academic friendship makes the fact that now both have accepted the teaching roles extended to them all the more excited for the new adventure in a familiar place.

Character Connection with Bex

Bex is a friend of Noah that Devin knows. That is, for the most part, the extent of their connection as far as either are concerned. Devin has never been overly annoyed by one of her tricks, mostly due to being within close proximity of Noah who was giving him a heads up. They had maybe one or two school projects where they partnered up, but every time that happened they studied with Noah and his partner as well. Truthfully, wand to his head, Devin couldn’t recall a single time the two of them had hung out without Noah.

This may have been due to the fact that Devin never really ‘got’ Bex. Like many he had heard of the weirdness here and there, but considering his Muggle upbringing he never seemed to have a real graph on what was normal in the magical world especially normal according to Hogwarts. One example was in the span of a week Devin approached Noah to ask if Bex had a crush on him, hated him, was obsessed with him, was somehow enraged by his haircut, and had tried to poison him.

Devin had found out about Bex getting the job as the herbology professor through Noah. Considering she helped him pass more than one end of year exam he wasn’t surprised, but did wonder how she was going to handle being the leader of order in a classroom rather than the sower of chaos.

Character Connection with Naia

Naia and Devin have known each other well enough since their second year. That was the first time they were sat close enough to each other in charms class. After you met Naia you would have a difficult time forgetting her. She had a unique skill to throw a net out and wrangle everyone caught by it involved in some sort of tomfoolery. One such time caused a rather awkward situation for Devin that he remembers to this day.

After having seen a unicorn it was widely known that Devin was trying all sorts of ways to see them again. He was approached by Naia who said she would go into the Forbidden Forest with him which caused him much excitement. Unfortunately due to his own inability to understand the opposite sex and some very poor advice from his friends Devin had concluded that Naia had asked him out on a date.

Later that evening after they had left the school grounds under the cover of night Devin began to act a little weird. His nerves seemed to get the best of him during every conversation. The penultimate moment of awkwardness came when they reached the same meadow and after sitting down and relaxing Devin leaned in for a kiss only to have Naia lean back and avoid the act.

For several weeks after that fateful night Devin was too embarrassed to be in the same room as Naia. He finally got over it, but Naia always knew when to have a playful poke at his admittedly accepted expense. She never meant any malice by her bringing it up, but it didn’t stop him from wishing he had just died that night in the meadow.

『 Eleven // Naia 』

Noah
↳ Mr. Prefect

Naia has filed Noah under people who could loosen up a bit, or maybe even a lot. She knew him as the Hufflepuff who was super intense, mainly about studying and his prefect duties. Noah was probably the only one who has managed to catch her in the act more than once. At one point, she was worried he had cast a warning spell on her that alerted him every time she was up to no good.

Although most of their interactions involved Naia actively trying to escape him, she remembers one night where she willingly came to him. It was two weeks after she had transfigured her hair into a literal night light, and while it had been hilarious and awesome at first, the novelty waned and gave way to frustration. Fed up with the never-ending light show, her dormmates had kicked her out until she could turn it off. Noah proved to be a saint throughout the ordeal. He fixed her up and all he asked in return was for her to stop bothering him. What a deal!

They haven't interacted much since, but Naia was happy she was able to brighten up his night at least once. All she knows now is he's off being super intense somewhere out there.

Bex
↳ Spidey ♥

Always one to go against the grain, Naia never jumped on the 'Bex the Hex' wagon that the other students so quickly filled. Naia didn't believe that she was bad luck and instead liked to think that Bex was blessed with a disaster detector. Naia tried explaining to Bex once that maybe what she had was like her version of a "spidey sense," but she wasn't too sure if she got the reference. Whatever it was though, instead of being wary of her like the other more superstitious students, Naia admired this particular skill of hers. Sometimes, when things were dull around the castle, she would approach Bex and ask if she could sense anything fun about to happen.

Although they often kept to their different groups of friends, Naia always thought she connected with Bex in a deeper level than most. They were seemingly opposites in everything, but somehow, they were kindred spirits through and through. When she got lonely thinking about her mum and was unable to keep herself from becoming sadface Naia, she turned to Bex, who she knew understood the lonliness.

After graduating, Naia and Bex occassionally met up after her shows--for a while, it was the only part of school that remained with her. They weren't able to hang out as much when she became a Curse-Breaker, although she tried to keep in touch as much as possible.

Thomas
↳ Tommy, Alfie, Brad, Jon. All the names!

Thomas is everything Naia isn't: quiet, studious, restrained. And yet, despite essentially being polar opposites—or perhaps because of it—they were close friends. Naia liked to think they were the doughnut holes of each other's doughnut, helping fill in what the other lacked. They've known each other since second year, although she can't remember how she charmed him (though perhaps strong-armed was more accurate) into tutoring her. Back then, Naia was pretty sure she was blacklisted as "unteachable" by her previous scarred tutors. But whatever made him cave, thank Merlin he did, because if it weren't for Alfie and his massive Ravenclaw brain, Naia is certain she would never have passed her O.W.L.s, much less her N.E.W.T.s.

Throughout their whole time at Howgwarts, Naia remembers a lot of time goading Brad into stepping out of his (literal and figurative) comfort zone. Every nighttime jaunt through secret passages and every weekend excursion in the forest, Naia made sure to invite Jon along.

Devin
↳ Dev

Before properly meeting him, Naia knew of Devin only through a friend of a friend of a friend. They finally got a chance to talk during the second year, when she tried recruiting him for a nighttime jaunt down some secret passages. After getting to know him, she had come to associate him owls—not only because of those sketches he made—but because of the wide-eyed way he seemed to view the world. She liked that they both still saw wonders when a lot of her other classmates could be quite cynical.

His infamous unicorn obsession phase during the third year was one great example of why she thought they were kindred spirits. As soon as she caught word of Devin's persistent attempts to see one again, Naia felt absolutely compelled to help. She caught him after class one day and all but demanded him to take her with him. Worried that there would be others to complicate the very delicate mission, she had made sure to lean in close and whisper in his ear conspiratorially: "just you and me, 'kay?"

Naia didn't realize that what she said and how she said it could've been misinterpreted, and was too oblivious to recognize the warning signs. The night of the mission, Devin had been antsy and odd, but Naia had chalked it up to excitement. It wasn't until they were sitting side-by-side on a meadow, moonlit and serenaded by the nighttime sounds of nature—which in hindsight, was quite a romantic atmosphere—that she started to realize what was happening. Devin had leaned in for a kiss, and if she hadn't been thirteen and still grossed out by boys and romance, she might have liked it. Instead, her quick reflexes took hold and she quickly ducked out of the way.

Naia had always recalled the event fondly, although she did regret the following weeks where Devin outright avoided her. She never thought it was something to be embarrassed about. When he was finally able to let it go, she was over the moon. Of course, she never missed a chance to tease him about it afterwards, but always in good-natured fun.

Elliot
↳ El, Nerd ♥

There is no one in the world that Naia trusts and adores more than Elliot. The two have known each other before Hogwarts, back when she was still honing the art of charm by seeing just how many people would buy her ice cream. He introduced her to the magical world, her mum's world, and made her feel less alone. El and his family's ice cream parlor was something of a sanctuary for Naia growing up, saving her from the increasing isolation and loneliness that awaited her at home. It was good for her mamá as well, as she found a confidant in El's dad—someone to commiserate with about the wizarding world.

In Hogwarts, getting sorted in different houses hadn't caused them to drift apart, only made it harder to plan their next escapade. They were partners-in-crime and have probably shared every detention together. El's fellow Ravenclaw often blame Naia for being a bad influence on him, but she would argue that he was the bad influence instead: "do you know how many random facts I know about really old wizards? Waaay too much."

Even after graduating, they managed to keep in touch. A lot of her curse-breaking cases had coincided with El's research, making it feel like they basically just traveled the world together. Their first solo assignment was one near and dear to her heart. It was the first time they were left to their own devices, without their respective mentors there as lifelines in case they screwed up. Oh, the mistakes they made! There were sooo many explosions that day. But to Naia, the thrill of it was the best feeling in the world.

Once again, it was her and El against the world and she wouldn't have it any other way.

Dragana
↳ Ana

Although they weren't too close throughout their time at Hogwarts, Naia has always thought Dragana was another kindred spirit. She liked that they shared a similar sense of fun and affinity for rule-breaking, even if she didn't always agree with her using secrets to barter. When Naia heard she was getting bullied, she offered to help fight them off—she had done it before for others, and while it often landed her in the hospital wing, she liked to think she had a knack for scaring bullies away. In the end, Dragana didn't need anyone's help after all, single-handedly getting each one of her bullies to detention.

After graduating, they mostly bumped into each other at Weasley's Wizard Wheezes, which Naia frequented a lot before she started traveling. They would talk about her latest products, with Naia often leaving glowing reviews.
