Hello there, young trainers! My name is Professor Oak, but you can call me the Pokemon Professor! Even though the nickname is longer than my actual name! This world is inhabited far and wide by Pokemon! But since you lot are coming to Kanto from all over the place, you probably already knew that! I study Pokemon for a living, and I am proud to share my expertise on the subject with you! Now I know you don't actually need a starter Pokemon, since you all seem to have one, but still I'm going to explain to you exactly what you are here to do.
You have all come to Kanto for a reason: to take the Pokemon League challenge and become world-class trainers! You all have your own reasons, and honestly, I don't care what they are, but I can tell you it will be a long, dangerous journey. Not only will you have to traverse rough mountains, and swim over oceans, but evil people calling themselves Team Rocket will be around as well, attempting to give you a lot of trouble. However, you don't need to call the authorities on them! You can just overcome them with your spirit and the friendship of your Pokemon! I'm sure that will be way more effective than guns! Now, go off on your journey everyone! The world of Pokemon is yours to explore!
Make sure you read all this stuff!
1. If you are going to submit a sheet for this RP, make sure you are ready to make the time commitment for a LONG RP. This is going to be a trek. I don't need someone coming in and taking a spot from someone, then dropping out before the party hits Viridian Forest. It is a really annoying trend I've seen lately, and if someone does that in here, I am killing them off in the most embarrassing way possible. I'm talking a Fearow dropping a coconut on your head kind of death. 2. When making a post, I expect certain standards to be hit. A displayed coherence of the English language, if you will. I'm an editor for money, it irks me to see capitals missed. So while I'm not going to be going after people for a comma splice, I will expect sentence structure above that of your average Twitch stream. Also, I expect at least five sentences per post. Call it two paragraphs. That's the High-Casual standard, right? If you're devolving into one-sentence posts, maybe that's a sign that you should be collabing with the person instead. 3. Don't be a freaking Mary Sue. This is an RP. It's about the story. If you enter and just say "My Charmander evolved into a Charizard and flew Lance's Dragonite into the Sun so I win," I'm going to not only declare your post non-canon, you're going to be eaten by a Gulpin. And then spat out. And then nerfed so hard kids will be throwing your character's head around in the backyard for fun. So, don't do it. 4. Romance is allowed. I've been in enough SoL RPs here to know it is inevitable. Even with NPCs. But if it starts getting to the point where you wouldn't read the post out loud to your grandmother, your religious leader, or a massive stranger on a plane, you should probably take that to PMs. 5. Try to follow the formatting rules. Italics means thoughts. Bold means previous dialogue. Strike means you're being funny and I get it. Also, while I am expecting all characters to have a designated color for their lines, Pokemon generally just get the color that the Pokemon is. Makes it nice and easy. 6. While I am not imposing deadlines on posts in this RP, I am not going to be as willing to wait around for people who aren't posting. It took 1.5 years to go from Cerulean to Vermillion and back last time, and that shit isn't happening again! 7. If you have an idea for a plot point in the RP, don't hesitate to talk to me! I have my tentpoles to hit, but the rest of the story is going to be up to the group, so feel free to shoot a message over and we can discuss it. 8. Post your favorite Pokemon game in the Notes/Other section so I know you read the rules.
Basically, you will start with a level five Pokemon that is the pre-evolutionary stage of a non-pseudo legendary line of Pokemon (No Dratinis, Beldums, Gibles, that sort of thing). No middle evolutions either. As we begin our journey, I will post the capture list of a given route or cave or ocean or whatever. You will have the choice to capture either one or two Pokemon from the given list. If a Pokemon is marked as uncommon, it will be your only catch. If a Pokemon is marked as rare, not only will it be the only catch, but I will need a damn good reason for why you need that Pikachu so badly. This can be discussed in the Discord when I get that up. The Pokemon available in the wild will be from the Kanto, Johto and Hoenn generations of the games. I will be distributing them by location in the game and by the geography of Kanto. Battles will be handled by you, the writer. Whether you want to battle all the trainers on a route, or avoid them all and just beat up on wild Pokemon, either way is fine. When we get to gym battles or event battles, I will post the outlines, as well as the possible Pokemon that a trainer will be using. Then it's up to you to co-ordinate the battle, Jet Li style, and make it look real good. Whether you want to win or lose, I'm good with whatever. Just make it a good fight so I don't have to give the Joaquin Phoenix thumbs down to you. Leveling up will be determined by the GM (that would be me) based on the experience you give your Pokemon. If the Pokemon is interacting outside of the ball, they will likely level up in the next update. If not, enjoy that Magikarp forever. Pokemon can know a maximum of four moves at once, and I will ask you to choose moves as your Pokemon levels up. They will be based on the Gen VIII movesets, because I am too lazy to go back in time. TMs are reusable and will be based on the 60 TMs from the Let's Go series.
Name: (Duh) Age: (This is an older crew, so I'm going to say 16-22 on ages. 10 year olds shouldn't be running around with fire-breathing lizards.) Gender: (However you identify) Hometown: (Also duh)
Appearance: (I'm not going to be very picky about this, since I know Pokemon covers a lot of different visual aspect. You want to use a real-world FC? Go for it. You want to use an anime FC? Sure why not? You want to just give a detailed description of what they look like? More power to you. Just make sure the basics are covered. Give me height, build, eye color, hair color, tattoos/piercings, what they usually are wearing and that should be enough. If not, I will tell you.)
Personality: (What are they like? Why are they doing this? Why should anyone care to know you? Fill this out here.)
Profession: (Trainer? Coordinator? Chef? What do you want to be with Pokemon?) Talents: (Can you make fire? Can you swim really fast? Can you make your fingers do the wiggle thing? What will make the Pokemon equivalent of Gabrielle Union not X you out?) Inventory: (Some starter stuff. Don't go crazy there, rich folks, unless you want the endless Winston comparisons.)
Starter Pokemon: (As stated in the rules, your starter should be a Pokemon from a non-pseudo legendary line that has at least one evolution ahead of it. It should be from the region your character is from, unless you can work it into the backstory in a way that pleases me. Also, I am willing to accept appearance changes, but if you're like 'Oh it's a shiny!' and can't give me a reason other than 'because I want it,' I will not be pleased.)
Biography: (I don't need the complete volume of a life's story. I just need to know how your character became your character. How did they grow up? How did they get their starter? Are their parents assholes? That sort of stuff. Show a lot, but don't give away all the goods.)
Notes/Other: (Any other facts you think are pertinent go here. This is a good spot for those color codes. Also, this is a good opportunity to remind you to read the rules.)
The Character and Pokemon Rosters will be in the Characters tab. I will be posting periodic team/level updates in the IC, as well as updating the roster in the Characters tab, at regular intervals. Please post your sheets in this section for now. Please do not post sheets in the characters tab until I clear you to do so. I aim aiming for eight people max to join this RP, so there may be some cuts if I get too many sheets.
I will keep a status update in the OOC tab, just so people know where we are. I will post the capture list there as well just in case people forget.
I will add stuff here as I see fit, mostly because I can't think of stuff immediately after volleyball.
Appearance: Fary has long light grayish-blue hair she keeps in a messy ponytail draped over her shoulder. Her face is slightly on the long and thin side. Her eyes are a slightly darker color than her hair that exudes warmth. She also isn't really known for wearing makeup, at least outside of coordination competitions, she really only wears some light eyeshadow with some brown eyeliner.
She stands about 5' 6" and is of average weight, not too skinny or heavy set with a slightly muscular build, but nothing that impressive. Her arms are a bit scrawny, and she has marginally small hands for her size, which makes her a bit clumsy. Overall, she dresses simply, jean shorts or pants, a long-sleeve shirt over a camisole and black stockings for warmth under a tan knee-high pair of boots. She doesn't wear too many accessories, just a pair of thick light blue gloves when she's chilled, a ring made of silver with a small blue gem set in the center of it and a pair of small silver hoops, things she can easily take off and pack away when she's working with Pokemon.
Personality: Fary is a kind person who is willing to help someone when they ask as best she can, however, she doesn't let herself be taken advantage of and can become cold when that does happen. She is a tad more on the introverted side, liking to be by herself with her Pokemon, usually drawing something or reading her parent's books. She has a cheeky sense of humor, makes jokes here and there to make people laugh, or just because she's in a good mood. Her mind has cleared since she left Unova for Kanto, and it's caused her to feel more independent and has reinforced her unwillingness to be taken advantage of.
Her happy and warm personality, however, doesn't mean she's always happy. She does have moments of melancholy and struggles on occasion with her recent breakup. At times like those, she closes her self away completely from others and turns moody and morose. Thankfully, her darker moods are uncommon as she would rather focus on the present.

Starter Pokemon: A female Zorua named Emily.
Biography: Fary was born and raised in Castelia City with her mother Hanna, a coordinator, and her father Mark, a breeder. Fary spent her life learning both of her parent's trades of choice. She loved watching her mother make Pokemon assessors, and compete in Coordination events, even if they were dying down in popularity, and helping her father raise the Pokemon he was breeding. Due to being heavily absorbed in Pokemon all of her life, she grew up with a wealth of knowledge about Pokemon, and their types.
At the age of 8, she was given a beautiful Eevee for her birthday as a gift from her parents for her to take care of. The Eevee, that she named Sarah, was the first Pokemon she had to take care of on her own, and she was over the moon. They did everything together, wherever Fary went, Sarah went with her. It didn't take long for the Eevee to evolve into an Umbreon.
She was a few days away from for her Pokemon journey at the age of 12, that was until Sarah got sick. The Nitashis and Nurse Joy did the best they could to keep the poor Umbreon alive, but nothing seemed to help her pull through. After a week of trying to save Sarah, she died in Fary's arms, leaving her beloved friend a blubbering mess. Fary didn't want to look at another Pokemon after that for a month and refused to be given another Pokemon for her journey around Unova. So she decided she would become a breeder, not letting herself get close to another Pokemon.
When she was 17, she met Grimsley, a 17-year-old up and coming trainer that was making a name for himself with his dark type Pokemon. He requested a Pokemon from her father and took the time to get to know Fary seeing they shared a love of dark types. It was a few months into their friendship when they started to date, enjoying a lot of the things they had in common. He enjoyed her knowledge and warm personality, and she was taken by his charm and love of dark types.
The couple had been together for 2 years, and during that time, they both were becoming heavily respected for their craft. Fary was starting to have trainers request Pokemon from her, which were mainly dark, ghost and psych types which were her specialty. Grimsley had become the most famous dark type trainer in Unova, and there was talk of him becoming a member of the Elite Four. This rumor was given more credence when Cole, the current dark type member of the Elite Four, announced they were going to retire. Their relationship was also going strong, and they were talking about moving in together in Nimbasa City.
The rumor of Grimsley turned out to be true when Cole named him as his successor. It was amazing news for the couple, but it also meant their plans to move to Nimbasa had to be changed around. For Fary, this was also a huge chance for her to show off her skills after all the girlfriend of one of the best trainers in Unova was bound to be noticed as well. She started working on a special surprise Grimsley to celebrate the amazing news.
Grimsley and Fary were out on a date in Castelia City, he had something important he wanted to talk to her about, and her surprise for him was ready. During their dinner date, Grimsley broke up with Fary out of the blue, which left her crushed and demanding to know why. He gave her an excuse that he was worried he couldn't give her the time he felt she deserved while also being busy as an Elite Four member. While struggling to keep her voice and temper under control, she angrily put a Pokeball on the table, telling him to "keep the fucking Purrloin" she breed for him as a gift, slapped him and stormed out of the restaurant.
A few months later her parents became very concerned about how their daughter had locked herself away and hardly interacting with others. After some convincing and pep talks, she decided that she needed to get out of Unova for a while and clear her head. She prepared for the long journey, and packed up her things to move to Kanto for a few years. Her father also felt it was time for her to start working as a breeder on her own, and as to not have to live up to his reputation, he suggested to move to another region.
She moved to Fuchsia City and opened up a breeding and grooming shop near the old Safari Zone. She enjoyed her quiet life in Kanto for 4 years, becoming a respected member of the breeding and Pokemon accessory community, but she started to long to go on her own Pokemon journey. So, for her 23rd birthday, her parents gave her a Zorua named Emily as a birthday gift. She prepared for the long journey to Pallet Town and was trying to get to know Emily. She was still struggling with her feelings that any Pokemon or person she let get too close might leave her as well, but she was trying to work past that. She left her business in the hands of her assistant Duska and headed out.
Notes/Other: Fary aspires to open a dark based gym in Unova and to breed a Dragonite as good or better than the one her father is famous for. Emily dislikes being in her Pokeball, so she will either walk alongside Fary or ride on her shoulder.
The real reason Grimsley left her was because he gambled away all his money. He terrified of moving in with Fary even though he loved her, but wasn't ready for that step yet due to the money troubles.
Fary's color #004a93 and Emily's color 483D8B
Author note: My fav game is Black/White... clearly. XD
Name: Hana Tatsuyama Age: 22 Gender: Female Hometown: Kingdom of Platinos, Sengun
Appearance: Hana stands at 5'7" tall, of average weight for her age but in a good state of fitness from years of physical training. She has dark brown eyes, and equally dark brown hair that she keeps tied back in a ponytail. Her physical features and distinctive accent clearly mark her as being from a distant nation.
Hana favours long skirts and simple T-shirts, but often supplements these with a long lightweight coat, and adds a white scarf in colder weather. A supplementary Trainer's belt features six catches for Poké Balls; currently only one of these is in use. She carries a suitcase for day-to-day equipment, and a backpacker's pack for the rest of her possessions. Hana keeps her accessories simple and minimises ostentation: silver stud earrings worn day-to-day, and a matching necklace for special occasions. Lastly, she wears a small pin on her coat at all times: a silver shield trimmed in black, with a Poké Ball engraved in the center.
Personality: 'Formal' is probably the best way to describe Hana at first glance. She is polite and respectful at all times, tempering her enthusiasm for being in an unfamiliar land with the knowledge that she is a long way from home. As an ambassador of sorts for her homeland, she strives to be an example of the best the region has to offer. In battle, she favours a tactical approach, always having the right Pokémon for the situation at hand and using her studies to gain the upper hand.
However, with Hana's formality comes reservation. She tends to maintain a formal approach to conversations and meeting people until she lightens up. In addition, she prefers to take time to properly understand something before acting on it, rather than jumping headfirst into a new situation. When she's faced with a Pokémon she doesn't entirely know, or she's uncertain about someone or something, Hana may withdraw and attempt to observe what others do before taking action herself.
What drives her most about her journey to Kanto is the new experience of a Pokémon League - something her homeland doesn't have yet. She also wishes to learn more about the cultures of other lands, which is best learned firsthand. In particular, she wants to gain an understanding of Kanto's culinary styles, and compare the differences between Kanto and her homeland, her main goal in that regard being to compile all the recipes she finds on her journey.
Profession: Hana has become a Trainer specifically for taking on the Indigo League, but has also brought her knowledge of cooking - and just as importantly, her equipment. Talents: Hana is an excellent cook, able to produce good food for both humans and a variety of Pokémon diets. She also has extensive knowledge in the fields of raising Pokémon and battling with them - and possibly alongside them as well, as she is trained in self-defensive martial arts. In addition, the people of Sengun are often able to communicate with Pokémon of certain types. Hana has inherited her family's ability to speak with Steel-type Pokémon.
Inventory: In Hana's suitcase and about her person: - 10 Poké Balls - 1 Premier Ball - 5 Potions - 3 Antidotes - 1 each of Paralyse Heal, Awakening, Burn Heal, and Ice Heal - Cooking utensils: a wooden board for preparing food; two small food knives, one serrated and one straight-edged; three sets of cutlery, and two pairs of chopsticks - Non-perishable cooking supplies: plain rice, oil for frying, and small packs of seasonings, powdered Berries, and similar flavours - Water bottle, travel snacks, and a thermos - Two cases of food for young Pokémon, one of which has been half-eaten already - Mobile phone with international roaming plan - A small amount of cash for minor expenses - Debit card linked to Hana's bank account in Sengun
Backpack: - A week's worth of clothing and similar personal items - One formalwear outfit - Winter scarf - Electric traveller's stove - Cooking utensils: a frypan, a pot, and a second board - Five days' worth of travel rations and similar staple foods for cooking - Three journals; one is unlabelled, one is labelled "Recipes", and one is labelled "Studies" - Several pens - Sleeping bag - A one-person tent, quick to set up and tear down, strapped to the side of the pack
Starter Pokémon: Satomi, a young Pawniard. Hana raised her from an Egg, and the two are fairly close. Satomi helps with preparing food during downtime, but Hana is also now training her up as a contender for the Indigo League.
Biography: Born and raised in the Sengun region, Hana grew up with a variety of interests. Cooking has always been a part of her life; the family owns a popular establishment in Platinos, an inn and restaurant named The Warlord's Rest. Like many of her generation, she was enrolled for basic martial arts training while she was still a child, her parents allowing her to train at the local Dojo from the age of twelve. And, of course, studies in raising and caring for Pokémon - originally in preparation for Sengun's (hopefully upcoming) Pokémon League, but equally applicable to those of other regions.
Over the years, some of Hana's studies synergised, in a sense: understanding the proper diet to keep a Pokémon team in good health and fitness opened up new avenues in her cooking. Studies and first-hand experience in survival skills allowed her to go foraging for ingredients in the wilds away from the city, and prepare them properly when she returned home. And she gained a first-hand understanding of how to raise and care for Pokémon thanks to her parents giving her an Egg from the family Bisharp; Hana cared for and hatched the young Pawniard more or less independently.
But with no sign of an imminent decision on if or when Sengun will establish its own Pokémon League, Hana has elected to travel and broaden her experiences. Not in Sengun, though, for she had already seen much of what her homeland has to offer, and was curious about the Pokémon Leagues of other regions. As Kanto is one of the most time-honoured regions and it is said that there is much to learn there, that is Hana's first destination. She has also chosen to travel as an ambassador to Sengun, as some Trainers do, and in so doing hopefully strengthen ties between the regions - if she can establish contact with the right people here. Hana has decided the local Professor is likely her best lead, and Professor Oak is internationally known as an expert in the field.
Hana booked a flight from the mountain Kingdom Eyria to Kanto's Celadon City. After clearing customs, she travelled from there to the port of Vermilion, taking a ferry to Pallet Town to meet the Professor.
Notes/Other: • Colour code for Hana is #00aeef (one of the preset options, first blue in the center row). • Colour code for Satomi is #de0000, if that is needed. • I think my favourite of the main series games is Sword & Shield; Black & White v1 comes a close second. (Shoutout to Pokémon Conquest.)
(Apologies for the limited quality of mapmaking. -WR)
Sengun is a large island landmass, home to ten Kingdoms that divide the land among themselves. Platinos is a reasonably large Kingdom situated near the center of the island and the capital city Regala, and Steel and Electric Pokémon are the most common types to make their homes in the Kingdom's territory.
Sengun is also home to a somewhat unique type of Trainer: Warriors, individuals who fight alongside their Pokémon and form special bonds called Links as an equivalent to using Poké Balls. Most people of Sengun can communicate with Pokémon of certain types, typically of one or two at most. The Tatsuyama family has had Warriors in its history, much like any other Sengun family line, but Hana has yet to determine whether she has any Warrior potential.
Sengun does not currently have a Pokémon League, as the Ten Kingdoms are still in deliberation on where the Gyms and League HQ will be constructed if it is decided that a League will be set up. The idea was introduced by travellers who have visited other regions, participated in their Leagues, and returned to Sengun with their experience. It's caught on like wildfire in the past few years, especially among the younger generations who have seen little use for their knowledge in raising and battling Pokémon. Many believe this recent interest will help the royal families reach their decision sooner rather than later.
The Sengun region was originally found here. However, my Photobucket links have all died in the many years I've been away from this site, and some of the information in the thread is out of date when compared to recent revisions. More up-to-date information about Sengun can be provided on request (both in and out of character).
Name: Ezra Geraldo Daly Age: 21 Gender: Male Hometown: Hau’oli City, Alola
Appearance: Ezra stands at a lofty 6’2”, among one of the tallest males in his family. At 185 lbs., most of the boy’s body consists mostly of trained, toned and maintained muscle.
His broad shoulders, thin waist, long arms, and even longer legs give him the silhouette of a competitive swimmer, while his natural olive-tan skin and shoulder-length mane of smooth black locks give off the disposition of an accomplished beach bum. If anything, you could assume he keeps up more with his body more than he does his hair, considering how disheveled it can get at times. If it’s not kept in a ponytail, it gets puffy with humidity and will get all over the place. His goatee’s a bit better, but his facial hair doesn’t grow as drastically anyway, so he really doesn’t make any attempt to keep up with it.
His choice in clothing completes his look of a casual athlete. Don’t expect anything less than light, sleeveless shirts and shorts in warmer climates, and hoodies and sweatsuits when it gets chilly.
Personality: On the surface, Ezra might be one of the happiest people you meet. Always a pep in his step, and a tune on his mind. It’s rare to see him without a smile, something his family members picked up on ever since he was a child. To the uninitiated, he could be considered ‘loud’ and ‘hyperactive’, and honestly, that would be a fair assessment. There’s a good chance you might find him talking on his phone, most likely gossiping with a family member.
Despite his cheery disposition, Ezra suppresses a myriad of emotions under the surface. Sensations of doubt, anxiety, self-loathing and regret plague the boy due to some complex and personal situations involving his family. He’ll do what he can to never have those dark emotions show, and uses his positive affections to keep them at bay.
Profession: Trainer of both pokemon and people. Ezra’s natural empathy towards the important people in his life made it easy to be a fitness instructor and personal trainer for the studio in his hometown. He’s always eager to help folk better themselves, and it shows in both his work and his pokemon battles.
Talents: Given his background, Ezra has accrued many athletic talents. He’s a great runner, a solid lifter, and surfs for fun. His cardio skills would make his energy look limitless if you didn’t know him. Ask him to do a flip and he’ll ask “a frontflip or a backflip?” before doing both anyway.
Inventory: Honestly, Ezra didn’t come to Kanto with the thought of long-term adventure in mind. He’d figure he would be spending more time hanging around his cousins’ place and taking in the sights, and it shows with what he packed in his medium-sized duffel bag:
- A week’s worth of his favorite clothes (with double the amount of undergarments, socks, and compression tights, along with an extra pair of sneakers) - 7 pokeballs (one of which is already preoccupied by Brie) - Smartphone (and an athletic armband to keep it out of his hands and pockets during fitness activities) - Wireless earbuds (usually secured around his neck if not in his ears) - Water bottle w/ metal tumbler (for quick protein shakes) - Way too many protein snacks (jerky, trail mix, and snack bars, all edible for both people and pokemon) - Assorted accessories and toiletries (hair ties, sunglasses, etc.) - Wallet (contains ID, passport card, spending cash, debit card (that he was instructed to use only under emergency circumstances), two family photos (one full family photo, one of his mother hugging him on his first day of school), a membership card to his local gym) - Carries wallet in a fanny pack if he needs it out on a run
Starter Pokemon: Brie, a young Oshawott from the Unova region. He and his sister were invited to spend a summer with an aunt’s family in Castelia City, and there he received the egg from the family as a birthday gift. Since then, he and the sassy Oshawott have been thick as thieves. She does what she can to keep him focused on his goals, and keeps him from delving too deep into the darker folds of his thoughts.
Biography: To say Ezra has a big family would be an understatement. Between his mother, Felicia and his father Ezekiel are three sets of twins, all five years apart. At the oldest stand Ezra and his twin sister Esmerelda (nicknamed Eazy and Ezzie by family, respectively), below them are twin brothers Eli and Tawny, and lastly are the identical girls Elena and Esther.
Fel and Zeke were getting busy, sure, but that’s just how it was within the Daly and Fichuo dynasties. Hell, they aren’t even the only couple in the family with several sets of twins! Early generations of the families (both Alolan-born) were full of kids, and the majority of them ventured out into the world once they could.
As a result, you could probably find at least one family with a Daly or Fichuo last name in most regions. Despite the distance, they all did what they could to keep in contact with each other. Family reunions happened more often than not, and the turn out was always massive. It didn’t take much for Ezra to make fast friends with many of his cousins, and his parents usually made an effort to make sure both he and Esmerelda could leave Alola from time to time to visit them.
That family-encouraged wanderlust was what got him his Oshawott, and also what drew him to the Kanto region. Some Kantoian cousins of his (Zapp and his two sisters, Franny and Kelly) invited out to spend some time with them. Zapp, in particular, mentioned the local league challenge and dared his cousin to try it out while he was in the region. Ezra, ever so intrigued by the league traditions of the Kanto, stuffed some stuff into a duffel bag and made his way out. Ezzie, who had her own trip to Johto planned, exchanged some kind words and playful banter with her brother before dropping him off at the airport and seeing him off.
Notes/Other: Ezra’s color is #00FFAE, Brie’s is #E3CA19, Favorite pokemon game is HeartGold/SoulSilver. HeartGold specifically, due to my personal ties to the original Gold Version.
Appearance: Standing at 5'9", Lizbeth is a bit on the skinny side, but is still strong enough to do day to day things. Her hair is firey red in color and goes down to about chest length, and her skin is light tan due to her parents being so as well. She has green eyes, but she likes to wear red contact lenses because "she thinks they're cool", and while she's not much for makeup, she does like to put on her favorite green lipstick and cat-eye extensions. As she needs glasses, being near sighted, she chose to wear pink ones, as it is her favorite color.
On her head she wears her black knit beret with a white circle and a white line through said circle, which has a little white pompom on top of it. She wears a top that is black with pink stripes here and there, with a pink Y that lies on its side. The Y appears to have a mouth with sharp teeth in the top part of it, and has a wide, white outline. Over her top she wears a black leather jacket she usually keeps open, complemented by her black studded leather skirt, and over said skirt is a belt in which she will keep her Pokéballs attached to. The leggings she wears are black with what appear to be pink splotches all over them, and her shoes and the small glove like thing she wears on her right hand are the same. On her back is the black and pink sport rucksack that she keeps all her things in.
Personality: Shy and a little reserved, Lizbeth has always been a kind girl, ready to help her family out when they ask her to. But as such, she doesn't have much interactions with other people outside of whenever she may have needed to buy something, so it takes a little bit to get to know her. Despite that, she's determined to overcome her shyness in pursuit of her Kanto exploration.
Profession: Lizbeth is willing to become a Trainer in order to pursue her exploration and photography goals. Talents: Lizbeth has a mean photography skill. Or so she'd like to think, anyway. With her Rotom phone being able to fly around, she simply has to tell it to take a picture once she sees a nice photography spot.
Inventory: As part of her preparations, Lizbeth has in her rucksack: - 10 Dusk Balls, a gift from one pair of her grandparents (also came with a complementary Premier Ball). - 5 Potions, from her other pair of grandparents. - 2 of each status healing potion, another gift from her parents aside from the allowance they gave her, which is stored on a card linked to her bank account. - A wallet with said card in it. Typically worn in an inner pocket of her jacket along with her Rotom phone in another inner pocket. Starter Pokemon: Impidimp, nicknamed Ace, or Menace depending on his behavior, because he's been known to be a menace from time to time, being the little prankster he is, but most of the time, he does actually like to help Lizbeth out, and in her own words, is real ace at it.
Biography: Born as the first and only child of Jacob and Isabella, Lizbeth actually saw little of her parents due to their work. Jacob was a receptionist at the Wyndon league, which meant he was away from home a lot due to the amount of challengers arriving there, and Isabella was a flight attendant, travelling a lot as she served customers on the flights. Despite this, when they were at home, they always made sure to spend their time with Lizbeth well. Lizbeth typically spent time with either of her grandparents, who didn't actually dote on her too much, only just enough. They were understanding of Jacob and Isabella's work, and were happy enough to spend more time with their grandchild.
As a result, Lizbeth grew up to be a girl who never asked for much. After all, all she wanted was to just spend time with her parents when they came home, and while she was always sad to see them off, she always welcomed them back home with a smile. Her grandparents often let her wander around Glimwood Tangle just outside of Ballonlea, and as such, she had a fondness for the many Fairy and Psychic type Pokémon around and about. The Pokémon there were her friends, and she would play with them from dawn till dusk, taking breaks occasionally to go back home to her grandparents for a snack.
One day, a curious little Impidimp decided to follow her home, and as much as she was surprised by it, she immediately went to her grandparents to ask if she could keep it. The little one wasn't very happy with that, and ran away. This left Lizbeth in tears, but still the day after, she went out into the woods to play as usual. There was a small giggle that followed her here and there, which made her a bit nervous, but she knew that if it came to it, the wild Pokémon would help her. Jumping out of a nearby bush, it was the same Impidimp that had followed her home. It felt a bit bad about making her cry, and had been working up the courage to confront her again, hence why it hadn't come out earlier. She was happy to see it again, and they played together ever since.
Spending the years together, Lizbeth had given the little Impidimp the nickname Ace, due to his mischievous behaviour, along with his ace helping around whenever Lizbeth needed work done, such as cleaning or being sent on an errand. They were practically inseparable. At some point, the time for her to take the Gym Challenge came around, but she actually had little interest in taking part in it. With her parents away during that time, her grandparents decided to let her choose not to take part in it, and so she continued growing up, watching others take part in the challenge, and watching the matches on the telly whenever she wasn't in the woods, though the wandering into them kept happening less often as she grew older.
With her teenage life almost over, she actually asked her parents on a day when they were both home, and would be for another day or two, whether they would take her and Ace for a little trip to another city. She'd grown up in just Ballonlea, and while it was her home, she also was starting to feel like wanting to see more of the world. And seeing more of the Galar region, with her own eyes, was the start of it. Jacob and Isabella made it a habit to check out different cities when they were both home, together with Lizbeth and Ace, from the humble Stow-on-Side, to the majestic Hammerlocke, and even far off into Wedgehurst. To remember each and every one of those places, Lizbeth had managed to save up money from her chores when she was younger for a new Rotom phone, and loved taking pictures of every noteworthy sight in each city and town.
This would eventually lead to her starting her 20's with finding online on her phone about a league challenge in the far off Kanto region. Having not taken part in her own region's challenge, she felt this would both be a good opportunity to experience something new, as well as seeing a new region on her own. Making plans with her parents, they booked a flight, which would have Isabella working on it, and packed down whatever she would need on her trip. Her parents gave her a bit of allowance to help her starting out in a new region, and thus she headed off for the Indigo League challenge.
Notes/Other: Lizbeth's color is called Medium Violet Red, which is a weird sounding color to me, but it works as the color I need. And Ace's color is called Lime Green. As for favorite Pokémon game, Platinum has been my top one for a long time, but then Sword and Shield came out and tied with it.
Name: Karen Anne Rose, aka Lilith, Mistress of Lost Souls Age: 20 Gender: Female Hometown: Icirrus City, Unova
Appearance: Karen is 5'4", with an slightly below-average build and pale skin. Her natural hair color is light brown, but it has been dyed so many times no one but her remembers that. Her eyes are a deep blue.
Lilith's hair is currently black but the last inch was bleached afterwards to give it an orange glow that starts just above her shoulders. There are some faint streaks of purple visible from her previous dye job, but the darkness is dominant. She has two piercings in each of her ears, with simple onyx rings in them, as well as a purple stud in the right side of her nose and a silver ring in her right eyebrow. She favors dark eyeshadow and lipstick for makeup, but will usually avoid foundation. Her nails are usually painted in a combination of purple, black and reddish-orange shades.
The preferred wardrobe of the self-proclaimed "Mistress of Lost Souls" keeps to the dark themes. She uses black tank tops underneath a series of black mesh tops and jackets, usually paired with black skirts or torn jeans and a pair of knee-high boots. She wears a garnet pendant that glows orange under the light, as well as a bracelet on each hand, black leather with silver circles lining them in the center.
Personality: Lilith is rather emotionless, choosing to look at the darker side of life. She is rather melancholic and quick to express pessimism at a situation. She does enjoy discussing her research, primarily the legends and lore that make up the rich tapestry of Ghost Pokémon in the world. However, her social interactions are usually limited to nods and sarcastic remarks. This has been easier to maintain due to her delving into her studies at Mistralton University, with the ultimate goal of replacing that hack Shauntal as an Elite Four member.
It is an act though, born from an isolated childhood. The truth is, Karen does long to be a part of the cool kids, to be someone who can contribute to a group and be accepted. However, who would accept a happy member of the shadowy cabal of Ghost and Dark users? Phoebe was the exception, and she was a little creepy even for Karen's tastes. So, convinced the act is necessary, she keeps up the Lilith facade. She may let it slip under the right conditions though.
Profession: Trainer/Researcher Talents: Being a university student, Lilith has had plenty of time to do her research on the land she is visiting, and is very familiar with the landscape because of it, even if this is her first time in Kanto. She is very good at making fire, and has some experience cooking given her time away from home. Inventory:

Starter Pokémon:
A level 5 Litwick, named Sia. First met when Karen was spending some quality time by herself at the Celestial Tower, Sia has become something of a counterbalance to Lilith's super-serious dark personality. The young Ghost/Fire type is less in your face and more likely to be a calm beacon in the pitch black. She keeps her trainer centered, especially when Lilith becomes too engrossed in her act and starts going completely gothic. Her Mild nature lets her see things that maybe her trainer doesn't in the midst of Karen's performance.
Biography: Karen Anne Rose was born in Icirrus City to parents Derek, a gym trainer under Brycen, and Ruby, an actress who worked with the Gym Leader on some of his movies. They lived on the outskirts of the city, closer to Celestial Tower than anything in town. Derek preferred his privacy. By all accounts, Karen had a normal upbringing. Her parents encouraged studying and family life given their relative isolation. Karen did very well, but it was a lonely life.
The Tower, though. The tower was where her friends lived. It was her home away from home. She could feel presences there that gave her comfort while her father was battling and losing to challengers and her mother was off in Virbank making motion pictures. They didn't show themselves, but she could feel the spirits every time she went. They weren't shunning her. They were embracing her, and she embraced them back.
She wanted to train ghosts when she got old enough, but her father was dead-set on Ice types. So she started to rebel, taking in the dark nature and making it a part of her identity. It seemed like the ghosts of the tower accepted her new outlook on life, because finally, one of the spirits materialized in front of her during an exploration of an upper floor. A purple light flickered into being before before flipping its wax back and offering a sweet smile. Karen was leery at first but the little Litwick followed her towards the stairs, so the teenager had herself a partner. With the now-christened Sia in tow, she officially started going by Lilith, because who ever heard of a masterful dark Ghost trainer named Karen?
Lilith built her new image before her grades got her accepted with a full ride to Mistralton U. She specialized in her chosen Ghost type and was very good at it. Enough to get noticed by Shauntal, but the Elite Four member totally blew Lilith off in her visit to the university, dismissing Sia as too mellow to ever be a true champion Pokémon. Stuck-up writer type. When the time came for her graduate thesis, she didn't want to go back home. Instead she got interested in the story of the Radio Tower, which seemed like a pretty deliberate desecration of a Ghost Pokemon resting place. She intends to make her way to Lavender and try to study what happened to the spirits residing there. Plus, she can gather up a team to kick Shauntal's pretentiously-collared ass and take her spot as the Ghost member of the Elite Four.
Notes/Other: Favorite game is White, because that's where the Legend of the Dancing Queen began.
Just because I'm posting an intro doesn't mean I'm closing off applications either, so feel free to keep me posted on what you are working on, and your character can come in at pretty much any time.

ok so I just read your post and I straight up love it. Just the sheer fact that Oak is actually senile at some level, or just really really good at convincing people of it made me laugh harder than it should, reminds me of the "cranberries" old man voice the game grumps keep doing for literally every old man character.
"Do you have a Ditto and an Articuno you could trade for, buh... this chair I found?"
Name: Anthony 'Ant' Blackledge Age: 16 Gender: Male Hometown: Olivine City, Johto
Appearance: Ant is a pretty skinny guy for his age and he's only recently had a growth spurt. Going from the smallest in his group of friends to one of the tallest, because of that he can be kind of clumsy. He has messy brown hair that just covers his ears with emerald green eyes. Girls his age find him good looking apart from having a big nose. Ethan wears an olive green hoodie that he usually has the hood up slightly so you can still see most of his hair, with black jeans and black trainers. He keeps all his stuff in a black backpack.
Personality: The first word you'd use to describe Ant would be shy. He finds it hard to truly open up to people so he's usually quiet at first. Sometimes he can get carried away talking about his passions around new people and quickly stop speaking thinking that he's embarrassing himself. That's the main reason why he's left home to try and gain a bit of confidence away from his Dad. Once he gets comfortable around people though it becomes clear to them that he's a caring kid who just likes having a laugh and loves Pokémon. Ant tends to daydream quite a bit mainly about being one of the greatest Pokémon masters in the world.
Profession: Ant has only just become a Pokémon trainer after only just leaving school. He has aspirations of becoming a gym leader or part of the Elite Four somewhere. Talents: One of his best talents is drawing, he's been drawing Pokémon since he can remember. Now he paints and draws anything that he wants to. He also has great stamina and rarely gets tired from walking all day. Inventory: -A few different tops and a water proof coat. -Six Pokeballs. -Three Potions. -Tent and sleeping bag. -Sketch book with pencils, paints and paint brushes.- -Phone. -Wallet with a little bit of money. -Kanto map. -Some long lasting food.
Starter Pokémon: Ant has a Growlithe which is very calm and cool. This helps Ant when he gets nervous in social situations.
Biography: There isn't really much to tell about Ant's life. For the most part it was a pretty normal childhood, he went to school and did well there and always used to play out with his friends. He was born and raised in Olivine City and from the age of twelve he moved houses after his mum left his Dad. His Dad was not a nice man and used to start arguments all the time with Ants mother in front of him which always upset him. Whenever Ant thought he had done something good, his father was always there belittling him and telling him there was always something he could have done better. It was like a fresh start when they moved but the psychological scars were still there making him very quiet.
His mother was a Pokémon breeder so Ant was always surrounded by different Pokémon. He used to spend the days drawing some of the Pokémon and playing with them. On his sixteenth birthday his mum got him a pet Growlithe. His Mum knew that Arcanine was his favourite Pokémon. A few weeks later when he finished school, he got a sudden urge to go and travel. His mother knew it was massive for Ant to actually want to do it, she was so proud of him but nervous at the same time knowing how shy he could be. Being a well known Pokémon breeder she had met Professor Oak a few times, she sent him a letter, letting him know her son was going to see him. She told her son that his lab would be the best place to start then bought him a train ticket to Kanto and gave him the money his Grandparents had left for him.
