β¦ Magic - Description of the magic skill, feel free to have a many or few as you'd like. Because it's slice of life you really can't really be considered "OP".
Fairies consist of two subspecies; wild fairies and garden fairies. Wild fairies are both reclusive and secretive, rarely engaging with those not considered Wood Folk (High Elves, Wood Nymphs, Sylphs, Sprites, etc) . Garden fairies are the less common of the two but more well known to others due to their sociable nature. These fairies prefer to dwell in more populated areas such as towns and cities. They received their name due to their tendency to settle in gardens and parks where they tend to the plants, they are popular residents for botanical gardens and large estates due to their floral magics which keep gardens flourishing even in harsh winters. Garden fairies have been known to take human forms, in which they lose their wings but retain the majority of their magic; it is unknown if wild fairies also possess this ability. This human form can be maintained for an indefinite amount of time but will exhaust the fairy afterwards.
Fairies are generally under 20 centimetres (near to 8 inches) tall and weigh less than 25 grams (less than an ounce). Even their human forms are rather sleight, around 160 centimetres (about 6β3β) and weighing 53 kilograms (about 115 pounds). The wings of fairies are composed of chitin and resemble those of butterflies and moths in both structure and pattern. Fairies generally give off a faint glow which can change in hue based on their emotional state.
In their natural fairy forms, fairies speak the Fae Language wherein their voices sound like ringing bells, and cannot speak any other language. The Fae Language is understood by all Wood Folk inherently and is notoriously difficult to learn for other species as the sounds are all very similar and have multiple meanings depending on inflection and body language.
Garden fairies are typically very childlike, they get emotional easily and tend to act on these emotions regardless of propriety. They have been known to play harmless pranks or tricks on other species but rarely seem to engage with each other. Garden fairies are also known to form a strong bond with one person in particular, this bond is rarely if ever romantic, and become very possessive towards that individual growing easily jealous if that person has other strong bonds with others. Literature suggests that whether or not the individual in question speaks Fae has little to do with the likelihood of being chosen by a fairy, instead personality seems to be the main criteria, as they have been known to bond with someone who does not speak Fae even with a natural Fae speaker is present.
All fairies are vegetarians. Their diets consist mostly of nectar, sugar water, and fruits that are high in sugar due to the amount of energy they expend flying. Typically, a fairy consumes almost its entire weight daily. Many fairies also enjoy honey as a snack but have to be careful of the substance getting on their wings as it will hinder flight.
Peony is a Garden Fairy that has claimed the grounds and gardens of Whitmore Boarding Home as his own. The old witch Madeleine was the one to find him over fifteen years ago and named him after the flower she found him sleeping in; a red peony. Madeleine is also the person Peony is bonded to. There isnβt much of a history to the fairy as they tend to settle into their homes early on in their lives and rarely leave their gardens for more than a few hours at a time.
The fairy is a common sight both on the grounds and inside the house and is familiar with every tenant, mostly because they canβt keep the pest out of their rooms, luckily heβs mostly harmless and will usually just leave fresh flowers to cheer people up but he does sometimes take small shiny things and hide them for fun.
He enjoys tagging along with everyone to the Sunday markets and making judgments about the produce grown without fairy magic (the judgments are usually negative).
Peony has been banned from the local coffee shop after an incident where he made the owner fall in love with a tea pot after they had insulted some of the honey which had been made with flowers Peony grew.
β‘ The pattern of his wings resemble Blushing Phantom Butterfly wings (Cithaerias pireta). β‘ Sleeps in the Greenhouse during winter because he doesn't want his wings to frost over. β‘ Doesn't like frogs or toads because they often mistake him for an insect and try to eat him. β‘ When he falls asleep in flowers he sometimes will wake up covered in pollen. β‘ He uses sign language to communicate in his human form since he cannot speak. β‘ Can tell what flower nectar was used to make honey by tasting it. β‘ Peony is pansexual. β‘ Is allergic to iron.

β‘ Floral Magic - Fairies have the ability to enhance and accelerate the the growth of any kind of plant. The flowers produced by floral magic tend to be brighter in color and have a stronger aroma, while fruits and vegetables produced by floral magic tend to be larger and more flavorful. β‘ Healing Magic - Fairies have a mild healing magic, they are able to heal small wounds and cure most poisons with ease. β‘ Love Inducement - Can make people fall in love with each other. Most often used as a prank as it can cause varying results. The enchantment can be broken either with a reversal potion or with "true loves kiss" (again results vary). A fairy cannot, however, make someone fall in love with them.
β‘ Flight - Fairies have four wings, two large forewings and two smaller hindwings which can each more independently of each other. This allows for them to adjust and swiftly change directions mid-flight, they can stay airborne even in strong winds and various weather conditions. β‘ Fauna Communication - Like all fairies Peony can communicate with a number of animals and insects. β‘ Fairy Dust - A rare and magical dust that is produced from a fairy's wings, it can grant temporary flight and is a key ingredient in both luck and love potions.
An odd and rare creature, Alita is known for her god-like abilities and aura. Her species was once considered a myth, even by the most majestic and uncommon creatures. Surely though, few came out in the open, only to disappear again into the night skies. Alita is the only one of her kind in her country.
While mostly nameless to themselves, others have named them after angels and demons alike. Some called them demi-dragons, only to be corrected. Each creature would always claim that they simply were, and their kind did not have a name. Some found this pretentious, calling them 'False Gods'. These creatures are considered immortal, however, this is not the case. They age, oddly, and can be killed, just only by their own kind. Each one has their own specific set of magical abilities unique to themselves. While some are similar, each usually has their own cast of abilities unique to their personality. No one knows how these creatures are created/born, not even themselves. They are simply put into existence, cast at a kind strangers door as a babe.
These beasts are known for their horned features, as well as having small scale like bone extruding from their body in different places. These creatures are not winged, like legends say, although some may fly.
Dropped from the sky like lightning, Alita was found by the ancient dragon Qakinyrth Vundryphoageokug Ayverth. This being took an interest in the girl, as she was a rarity, like himself. Having a tedency to collect objects and hoard them away, he took the girl. While some would consider her his captive, Alita found the dragon to be like a father, and in all ways but blood, he was. The dragon raised her as his own, and Alita was an incredibly happy child growing up. She developed a love for books and hoarding items like the one who raised her, and she was nicknamed by many as the 'Tiny Dragon'.
Alita now works for her father at the library, as well as occassionally at the museum. While she loves Qakinyrth greatly, Alita decided at the age of 20 that it best that she lived in different a home, as living like a dragon wasn't exactly the easiest. Still, she frequents the library and Qakinyrth's home, taking care of his needs and well as the buildings.
β‘ Works at both the library and museum. β‘ She is the first called when a new ancient item is found, as she is the most accurate way of finding out the past of an item. β‘ Doesn't have a great response time, making her reactions slow at times. Throwing something at her to catch isn't the best idea. β‘ Alita isn't used to labels, but people would describe her as pansexual. β‘ Panics if she knows an item will break, and spends a lot of time finding ways to change the future of said item. β‘ Can go on long and prolonged rants about her interests if given the chance. β‘ mostly seen day-dreaming or talking with her little creation

β‘ Psychometry - the ability to learn things about the past or future of an object by touching it. β‘ Creation - the ability to create living beings for an extended amount of time. The larger the beast, the more energy/mana drained from Alita. Alita loves to create odd looking companions for when she feels lonely. β‘ 'Forcefields' - the ability to create an impenetrable shield for an extended amount of time. Alita usually uses this as an umbrella.
β‘ Hardened Skin - It is incredibly hard to break flesh of Alita, as the only ones who can do so are of her own race. β‘ Prolonged Life - Alita doesn't know how she ages, nor if/when she will die. She just knows that she is here, living.
Like the succubus, an incubus has odd powers of seduction and allurement. Often, these powers vary, but they are centered around enticement. Both succubi and incubi can vary in looks. Some known for their feathered wings, others known for their scaly tail. Some, however, may not exhibit any special outwardly appearance, besides being breathtakingly attractive.
Eros is a rare incubi that is claimed to be "blessed by the moon", therefore radiating the light and energy of it. A cresent moon is often seened outlined on Eros' forehead when he uses his magical abilities. His eyes are a light purple, and his skin is incredibly soft to the touch.
Because of his singing powers, he is often likened to a siren.
Concieved from a 'wild party', Eros was raised by a group of sucubi and incubi who attended such event. He moved home from home when he was young, learning the ways of the sucubus. He considered each one his father or mother, and subsequently calls them as such. Finally, at the age of 15, he moved out on his home, believing firmly that he must learn the world on his own. He got a job easily, as his powers drew in many customers, and everything sort of just fell into his lap. Receiving a small record deal, Eros is now semi-famous and flourishing.
Moving into the Whitmore Home was an impulsive move on Eros' part, deciding that it was better if he put himself near more people, rather than exclude himself in a single condo. He now loves the attention, and is often searching for connections and friendships... Even if he is somewhat difficult to handle.
β‘ loves affection, piano, singing, expensive gifts, clothes β‘ hates naivety/fools, the tone-deaf, cheap gifts, control β‘ sarcasm is sacred to him, and he hates when others don't get his tone β‘ doesn't like his powers to an extent, as he wishes to know if people would love his voice without them β‘ has three fathers and four mothers β‘ moves from bar-to-bar, performing at each almost every night β‘ famous in his region β‘ Eros sexuality would be considered fluid/pansexual. He wants everyone to love him, and therefor, can love anyone β‘ is easily irritated if someone doesn't find him interesting/important β‘ incredibly impatient

β‘ Voice of an Angel - the ability to sing beautifully, as well as hypnotize people with his voice. β‘ Allurement - while Eros cannot make a person fall in love with him, it is almost impossible not to feel some sort of attraction to Eros. This may even be negative. β‘ Sleep Inducement - the ability to entice someone to fall asleep.
Next to humans, magic users are the most common of species. There are several classes of magic usuers; wizards, witches, sorcerers/sorceresses, and Wiccans. Oneβs class as a magic user is a matter of personality, beliefs, and chosen school of magic. All classes can use grey magic but oneβs class can determine the ease at which other magics are performed.
Witches and sorcerers/sorceresses are black magic users with the primary difference between the two being whether or not one possess the ability to divine. Diviners are members of the sorcerer/sorceress class while witches tend to study the art of potion making and occasionally take up scrying (a lesser and more inaccurate kind of divination).
Unlike Wiccans, witches are not considered βwood folkβ despite all the lore of witches living in woods. Quite often witches do not live in woods as it is much harder to perform hexes without victims.
Madeleine Whitmore is a very, very old resident of Bellamere. How old? No one is exactly sure, mostly because Madeleine is prone to lying about everything regardless of whether or not it is important. When she was younger, she gave varying answers to the question and now, in her old age, she will simply reply that itβs rude to ask a lady that type of question. Town records show sheβs been around for over five human generations. The majority fo townsfolk simply refer to her as βthe Witchβ, not to her face obviously but in private, calling her anything but βMadam Whitmoreβ, βMiss Whitmoreβ, etcetera is hazardous to oneβs health.
The witch owns a large property in town, consisting of near thirty-five acres. How she obtained this property is debatable but she herself suggests she gave the eligible bachelor who previously owned it a love potion and simply waited around for him to die and bequeath his earthly possessions to her. No one is sure if thatβs actually true however.
After having spent around seven decades on her own in the property Madeleine had the estate undergo a series of renovations before opening it up as a boarding home of sorts. The application process seems to be rather vague, mostly consisting of whether or not Madeleine thinks someone is interesting rather than if theyβre appropriate tenants. The rules of the home are rather lax and all residents are essentially given free reign to do as they wish and set up wherever they like on the grounds. Even Madeleineβs βprivateβ rooms arenβt off limits, she just warns them that if they turn into horrific abominations after poking around her things she wonβt be blamed for it.
She and Qakinyrth are old friends and she has tea with him once a month, which is why she agreed to take in Alita as a ward of sorts.
β¦ Is very well versed in botany and keeps several exotic (and carnivorous) plants in her greenhouse. β¦ Has published a recipe book of her own potions. β¦ Many people in town simply refer to her as "the Witch". β¦ She'd never admit it but her tenants are like surrogate children to her. β¦ Despite Peony being bonded to her she doesn't speak Fae. However, she's rather good at guessing at what the fairy is saying. β¦ She's a terrible gossip.

Dragons are the rarest and oldest of the known creatures, their natural lifespans are near to four thousand years. These creatures have been around since before the majority of mammals. There are two subspecies of dragons; Eastern and Western Dragons. Despite anatomical differences the two species ascertain that they are the same and regard each other as family. The behavioral patterns of both dragons are very similar despite geographical separation, both are solitary and territorial of both their dwelling and their hoards. The primary behavioral difference seems to be aggression towards other species as Western Dragons are known to become aggressive towards species, even those smaller and weaker than themselves, while Eastern Dragons tend to overlook and ignore smaller and weaker species so long as those species do not become aggressive towards them.
While most literature depicts dragon hoards as being composed entirely of gold and precious gemstones that is a vast oversimplification that is often insulting to the intelligence of Dragons. While the culture of dragons does give them a predisposition to accumulate precious metals and gems, they will add a varying number of objects to their hoard. Often dragon hoards are composed of numerous objects that dragons consider βvaluableβ these objects can be weapons forged with unique methods or designs, or even scroll and tomes on subjects that the individual dragon finds either interesting or of value to the species who created it. And though many dragons think little of taking sometime from another to add to their hoard most of a dragonβs hoard is made up of gifts, offers, or ritualistic sacrifices of objects from cultures and groups that are either attempting to appease the dragon or worshiping them.
Because of their territorial nature and long lifespans many dragons may never have offspring; as a result the species is considered to be critically endangered with only seventeen dragons of either subspecies remaining. Only five of the remaining dragons are young enough to have offspring and efforts are being made to try and conserve them, however due to the intelligent and autonomous nature of dragons the movement has been met with a level of indifference on part of the dragons who believe the current state to be of their own doing and possibly an act of Fate.
Fate is a relatively unknown aspect of the dragonsβ culture; it is widely regarded as having a separate definition to the human word and may in fact be their religious view.
Qakinyrthβs full name is thus; Qakinyrth Vundryphoageokug Ayverth, He of Golden Scales, Knower of Old, and Keeper of the Relics, the Dragon of Bellamere.
Most species are unable to produce the guttural sounds and vocalizations required to properly pronounce the first part of his name, and as such he instructs the majority of individuals to refer to him as Quinn. He has made his home in Bellamere since before the town existed, residing in the underground caverns and hunting in the mountain ranges nearby. It was Qakinyrth who gave the place its name. Coming upon the age of three thousand Qakinyrth was calm enough not to chase away the settlers who came to make a home and instead became somewhat of a symbol and protector of the town they built.
After some time, and many misunderstandings between Qakinyrth and the townsfolk, the dragon began to allow the town to view and study parts of his hoard under the condition that the items not leave his cavern. The townsfolk discovered that among the seemingly endless amount of currency (the majority of it being coins, which dragons are most fond of, made of a variety of metals) he also possessed many weapons, pieces of art, and a plethora of scrolls and tomes collected over several ages. Qakinyrthβs was among the first (and one of the only) Western Dragon hoards allowed to be studied which gained the attention of many scholars who traveled the world for a chance to view even a small amount. It also attracted some thieves who were usually eaten without much ceremony by the dragon, occasionally heβd regurgitate the bones and post them as warning to others who thought to take what was his, ironically the regurgitation of partially digested victims attracted even more scholars who wanted to study the biology of a living dragon.
This allowance of study and viewing of the hoard led to the eventually construction of a library and museum above the primary entrance of Qakinyrthβs cavern. This allowed for the items to be taken out of the cavern itself without removing them from the possession of the dragon, which made them easier to study. The architecture of the building is large and with open spaces that allow the dragon to wander about the building should he ever desire, which he rarely does. The building itself was designed by a famous dwarven architect who based the design off of the ancient civilizations.
Qakinyrth is known to leave for long periods of time, either to hunt, or to travel. Often when he returns he has new items which are added to his collection. On one such occasion he returned with a baby. There was a long city council meeting over whether or not they could actually allow the dragon to keep a potentially stolen child but ultimately it was allowed. This allowance was partially due to the dragonβs assurance that the child was orphaned and partially because the dragon has large teeth and can breathe fire and the city council members did not wish to be barbeque.
β Qakinyrth is blind, his eyes began to fade over a century ago. He mostly uses his sense of smell and hearing to identify others. β He's referred to as the owner of the Golden Scales Library of Relics, mainly due to the majority of its collection being a part of his hoard and it having been built above his cavern, however the building is legally owned by the city of Bellamere. β The name "Quinn" came from one of the town's original settlers mispronouncing the dragon's name. Qakinyrth took pity and allowed him to continue to use it and now it has simply become a part of his identity. β He is among the oldest of the dragons still living, to his knowledge only one other dragon is older than himself, a female Eastern Dragon. β Alita was something Qakinyrth collected for her rarity and is actually a part of his hoard. Though most refer to her as his adopted daughter (and he often treats her as such) the dragon still ascertains that she is something belonging to him. β Qakinyrth is at the end of his lifespan and will likely die in a few decades.

β Old Magic - Dragons use what they call "old magic" which appears to be an amalgam of other magics on an amplified scale. They don't believe in the idea of magic being "black" or "white", instead they think all magic is neutral in nature and thus to be considered "grey" magic.
β Elemental Breath - Though fire breathing is the most common mythology of dragons it is biologically inaccurate. Dragons have specially organs which produce several poisons and toxins which they are able to project in a forceful spray, depending on the specialty organ used several affects can occur. THe most common is the projection of a high flammable spray which is ignited by an organ function at the back of the throat. Another is a highly ionized liquid that can generate an electrical current similar to lightening. There is also a toxin which when exposed to air when sprayed drops in temperature and freezes. All of the liquids produces are highly toxic and deadly to any other species. β Flight - Both Eastern and Western Dragons possess flight. As a Western Dragon his flight is controlled and propelled by his wings. Dragons can fly for both long periods of time and long distances without stopping. In proportion to their size and distance of travel they fly faster than any other species. β Prolonged Lifespan - Most biologist are unsure how dragons are able to live as long as they do, mainly because of their lack of ability to observe dragon behavior and the fact that Western Dragons light themselves on fire when they die and Eastern Dragons fly out to sea before death and allow their bodies to be devoured. However it is known that dragons will typically live past three thousand years and near to four thousand. β Strength - Western Dragons in particular are known to have an exceptionally high percentage of muscle tissue. A Western Dragon can easily overpower an Eastern Dragon and both break through several feet of concrete and steel.
Considered a lower, useless race the Kasha have spent a long time at the bottom of the barrel. Kasha children are often left abandoned and to fend for themselves, because of this many of them end up going into less-than noble careers. Prostitution, thievery, drug peddling and everything in between, they will do anything they can to survive. Because Kasha are known to populate such unfavorable jobs law enforcement often pick them out of the crowd and harass them, people treat them like dirt - they just have a generally bad reputation all around.
Kasha are not super magical beings, at least not until they reach a certain age. As they age a Kasha's tail will grow, the longer the tail is the more magical ability they can posses. Though it is very, very slow a Kasha will not gain any abilities until they are almost 20, even then the abilities they do posses are minor. It takes years for them to develop anything dramatic, usually only being able to enhance their reflexes and senses. The upside to this is that they their senses are so heightened that they can perceive things that some might find difficult. Otherworldly beings normally not being seen are noticed, being able to sense when disasters will strike, feeling when someone may be telling a lie. Things such as these come very easy to a Kasha.
Kasha are mostly humanoid, they are defined by the feline ears and tail that they naturally posses. Their eyes, while differ in color, all have a very cat-like look to them. Other than that they are very different in looks, some may be very pale while others sport a nice tan. They vary in everything from height, weight, gender - they are unique all in their own way.
Xovu'sae, or simply Xovu, doesn't remember where he was born nor who his parents were. The first solid memory that he has started with him living in an ally, he had found a group of children who were living on the streets and even though they could hardly take care of themselves they took in the young Kasha. Being the youngest they would use Xovu as bait, older women found it hard to resist the cute babbling of a toddler and would often give the other children food and clothing. There were other younger kids who would do the same and occasionally women were so taken with them that they would take them off the streets, Xova never got that lucky.
Eventually Xova grew and wasn't able to just sit around looking cute, within the band of children there was the oldest: Jeckyll. He was responsible for teaching everyone how to survive in the world, Xova included. Xova took to Jeckyll and admired how strong he was. Even though they would steal and run drugs for petty dealers Jeckyll always took the time to take care and educate the children in their little group. Eventually, like all things, his little family came to an end when Jeckyll was shot. No one stepped up to take charge and everyone just separated and went their own ways. Xova was no expeption and at the age of 17 he had to figure out how to live alone, without the comfort of someone else by his side.
Thanks to what Jeckyll had taught him, Xova was able to make his way through the world without much hardships. He had quite a talent for stealing, being able to slip in and out of houses without anyone noticing. He would often target snobby rich people, they might have thought they had some fancy alarm system but it was easy to bypass. He would steal expensive jewelry, electronics, honestly anything that he thought he could get a profit off of or keep for himself. After awhile though he got messy and soon authorities caught onto him, Xova realized that he needed to lay low and keep himself out of trouble. He found Whitmore house and liked the vibe they were throwing out, so he decided to settle down for a bit. It'll be the first time that Xova has stayed anywhere for a long period time - Let's just hope he can keep his hands to himself.
β¦ There is a faded scar that run over Xova's left eye, it's often hard to see because it blends in with his tanned skin. β¦ Even though he is supposed to be lying low, he can't help but swipe things here and there. He has a serious problem. β¦ Xova may seem silly and nonchalant, but in reality he is a loyal and caring. He worries a lot about people and hates to see others suffer. β¦ Strawberries and cream is his absolute favorite thing in the world. β¦ Hates when it's about to rain, his fur will puff up and his skin tingles. Xova would much rather it be sunny and nice all year round. β¦ His ears and tail are extremely sensitive, he feels things to the extreme with them. For example, if he were to get shot in the ear or his tail cut that pain would be tenfold.

β¦ Fire Influence - This is a new, recently acquired magic for Xova. It's not that strong yet but he has the capability to influence fire. While he can't create fire out of thin air he can mildly control fire that is already present. He can have the flames grow stronger or weaker, if it is a large scale fire than it is harder for him to control it.
β¦ Enhanced Senses - At the age of 20 Xova began to slowly develop his abilities, one of which was having his sense heightened. He has unbelievable hearing, can smell things from over a mile away, can see in the dark just as well as during the day, tastes things more strongly and feel things that other might not be able to. β¦ Long Life - Kasha have exceptionally long lives, the oldest recorded being 345. It is thought though that the average lifespan lasts to about 270-300.
The wendigo are not born but rather created in a manner. There is a lot of debate as to the origins of the wendigo, though all of the theories point back to the native americans. Their stories of flesh eating spirits fall perfectly in line with the creatures that roam the earth today. The most popular legends say that a man becomes a wendigo once they resort to cannibalism. The inherent evil it takes to consume another living being would corrupt their soul so completely that there was no coming back from it. The result is a terrifying creature that stalks the darkness of night with a hunger for flesh impossible to sate.
Perhaps thatβs where their time on this earth began, but they have sense evolved into something more. Like all things, adaptation was needed to survive. And so these corrupt spirits began to cling to human hosts. Through the generations, these once powerful spirits have been diluted into little more than an infection. The spirit has no mind of its own but still inflicts itβs hunger upon its host.
At this point, any flesh will do. Human flesh is the most satisfying for any wendigo, but they can survive eating animals, so long as itβs done raw. A lack of human flesh causes the wendigoβs body to ache and keeps them from their superhuman strength and speed. No matter what a wendigoβs parents look like, they always take on a sallow appearance with dark hair and eyes. They generally look like death warmed up.
Despite their unfortunate circumstances, a wendigo is rarely a person you want to avoid. They have a natural magnetism about them that makes them charming and likeable. Many wendigo are social butterflies with a good number of friends. Sometimes their cravings are temporarily helped by partaking in sins of the flesh, even if they arenβt eating it. And so they are often hedonistic in nature. Their charm could only be a predator attracting its prey, but they tend to think theyβre just cool people.
Their true form (or false as some have come to call it) has changed as well. While the wendigo of legend were large, man type beasts, the wendigo of today more precisely resemble a large canine in their true form. Their fur is jet black and a bare skull stands in place of their head. Two deer like antlers protrude from above the skull. These canines stand at or around 4 feet tall from ground to shoulder. Wendigo are able to shift themselves between their forms at will, save for when the new moon is in the sky. On the darkest night of each month a wendigo is confined to their true form until the sun rises.
There is no true record as to how many wendigo exist at any given time. That is because, in a sense, they are immortal. While in the span of a normal human life (100 years give or take depending on an individualβs strength) a wendigo portrays much more of their human half. Once they surpass the limits of their humanity, their true form will take over entirely. Itβs often slow, taking years to come about. It doesnβt matter how hard they fight, it doesnβt matter what precautions they take.... the wendigo always wins out in the end.
But there are ways to kill the wendigo. Decapitation comes readily to mind. Poisoning with pure gypsum dissolved and introduced into the bloodstream. Complete and total starvation, perhaps the most difficult, will work as well. But the spirit of the wendigo is resilient and can last years without food, becoming more ravenous as time passes. They must be locked up tight.
On the other hand, a wendigo can decide to take their own life by passing the curse to another. Dubbed βThe Kiss of the Wendigoβ this marking is a humanβs worse nightmare if they know of it. All they must do is choose a human family who is expecting but has not yet given birth to their first child. They leave a mark upon their home that, on the next new moon, rips the spirit from their body to inhabit the unborn child. It is a cruel fate, but often the only way a wendigo can be released when they feel the inevitable upon them. The former host dies in the process.
However, some wendigo choose to never pass it on. Whether they wish to bare the curse so no one else must or they enjoy the power they get from their true form, they let it eat them alive. Itβs prossibke that there are no more than a few ancient, powerful wendigo out there feasting on flesh, reverting to the form they once held in the beginning of all things. Itβs unlikely that more than a few exist.
But itβs doubtful theyβd ever turn up in a place like this.
Jonah's parents were pretty surprised when he was born. He didn't share their fair hair and light eyes. While his father's immediate reaction was that Jonah wasn't his son, a paternity test proved otherwise. The raven-haired baby belonged to them. He belonged to something else as well.
There was always something a little off about Jonah, even as a baby. The poor child hated to be left alone for even a second. His mother would have to sleep with him against her skin to calm him. As he grew, he would bite whoever was holding him, usually not hard enough to draw blood. And every month around the new moon he would sleep heavily for three days. Otherwise, he was a perfectly healthy boy. He was sweet and friendly. People took to him instantly when they met him. There was no denying his popularity, even in elementary school.
He was taken to a doctor after his mother found him eating raw chicken from the fridge one night. He was 8 years old. After seeing a specialist, Jonah and his family were informed that he was indeed a wendigo. It was a shock, considering everyone in Jonah's family was human (aside from the elf that his uncle got hitched to). They were given all the information they could possibly need, offered a sympathetic smile, and sent on their way.
Jonah refuses to see his being as some kind of illness. It's just what he is, like any other creature. Sure, he sometimes wants to eat people, but who doesn't every now and then? He's done just fine so far eating animal meat, only suffering some annoying aches and pains. And he's just as charming as ever. That's why it wasn't so hard to make a home for himself in Bellamere. He moved there to be close to his best friend Macy and help her realize a dream of hers that she would never shut up about.
He's living his life to the fullest and having a hell of a time doing it.
β Has sharper incisors than most humans. Almost dog-like.
β Works in a bar called Concoction that he opened with his best friend Macy. Macy is a witch who put her potion making skills into her passion of alcohol to make the best cocktails and mixed drinks around. Jonah stands behind the bar serving and charming the pants off people.
β Doesn't believe in labels except one that says "I will probably sleep with you."
β Spends the night of the new moon locked up in order to keep his hunger, which is amplified in his true form, contained.
β Looks like he could kill you, is actually a cinnamon roll.

β Shifting - Jonah can shift in and out of his true canine like form at will. His strength and speed are amplified in this form, but so is his hunger for pure human flesh. β The Kiss of the Wendigo - Any wendigo that no longer wishes to live can mark another first born human to inherit the curse. Upon the next new moon the curse will be transferred, killing the former wendigo in the process.
β Magnetism - Wendigo are naturally likeable creatures. They are charming and tend to make and keep a lot of friends. People just seem to enjoy their company. β Heightened Senses - Jonah has a stronger sense of smell and keener hearing than a human might. He also has a more sensitive sense of taste, making each meat he consumes unique to him. β Enhanced Strength and Speed - Because the wendigo are very watered down, they aren't exactly superhuman. But Jonah is stronger and faster than his physique would suggest. Too bad he's so damn lazy.
Banshee's are seen as omens of death. A Banshee is not necessarily a race of it's own, rather they are deceased creatures that died in violent circumstances and cannot pass on to the next life, most typical is murder or suicide. They are stuck, unable to remember how they died. They are not ghosts though, they are like any other creature that may roam the world. No one is quite sure why some are chosen to become Banshee and other's not, there are plenty of violent deaths in the world so why are some considered more than another?
Many people think that these creatures are evil and cause death, however that is the opposite. A banshee is unable to kill, if they do than they would cease to exist in any way. In most cases they are simply content that they get a second chance at life, even if it was at the cost of them dying in the first place. Once someone becomes a Banshee anyone they may have had a connection with before they died loses all memory of that Banshee, unless they are of profound magic. The Banshee itself will also lose all memory of their life before their initial death, their new life beginning at the moment they came into existence.
Banshee have one trait that they all share, they are able to see when someone nearby is going to die. It is not something they are able control, more like a base instinct that is ingrained into their being. There is no explanation as to how or why they know but when a Banshee gets a premonition of someone about to die they will screech, though it is not something you might hear out of a horror movie. It is more of a sing-song tone, loud and piercing but not ugly. People have said that the scream of a Banshee is actually quite beautiful, albeit creepy and unnerving.
It is impossible to tell a Banshee apart from any other creature except for one detail: They will have a scar in the place that resulted in their death, even if they cannot remember how they died. For example, if someone was stabbed in the heart than they will have a scar of that. If they were burned alive, their skin would be scarred all over. If a Banshee has no scar than that simply means their cause of death resulted in no scarring, such as poisoning or being buried alive. Other than that a Banshee will look just like anyone else.
(Possible trigger) Though she can't remember Salia was the daughter of a wealthy CEO, she was a spoiled child who was naive to the dangers of the world. Salia had everything she could ever want and she knew just how to her her father to buy anything. She looked down on anyone who she thought was lower than her and didn't care if she hurt someone's feelings in the process. A rotten child with a rotten heart and unfortunately for Salia she was rotten to the wrong person.
While leaving a party one night Salia, who had a few too many drinks, hopped into the back of a cab. The driver attempted to speak to her but in normal Salia-fashion she began to rant at how poor people were stupid, that she could never imagine having to drive people around for a living. Instead of driving the girl home he knocked Salia out and drove her to the ocean where he had a beach house. For two days he tortured Salia until she screamed that she was a terrible person and deserved what was happening to her. She died when he attempted to remove her left eye, nicking an artery and causing her to bleed to death.
When Salia next awoke she was on the shore, she couldn't remember anything or anyone. She sat there for a long time, unsure about what she should do. After almost a full day the girl finally got up and wandered around, until eventually she came across a town named Bellamere. It wasn't long until she stumbled across Whitmore Boarding House and while looking around she came across a fancy old lady in a greenhouse. She was fascinated by the lady and the plant, but didn't disturb them and continued on. Later that night she went back to the greenhouse, Salia sat some distance away from all the plants and watched them, they were alive and she loved it.
She didn't realize that she had been there all night and when the old lady came she was startled. She began to speak very dramatically and Salia found it funny, laughing for the first time since she had awoken on the shore. She didn't know how it happened but somehow she ended up living at the boarding house, she spends a lot of her time admiring Madeleine's carnivorous plants and loves interacting with the other tenants.
β¦ Salia has yet to have a premonition, she is afraid of thought of it happening at any moment. β¦ Unlike her past life, Salia cares about people no matter where they come from. However she still is quite sassy and can have quite the attitude. β¦ Loves Madeleine's carnivorous plants. β¦ Her skin will burn if she touches pure silver. β¦ An eyepatch over her left eye hides the gaping hole that used to be her eye. β¦ It was Madeleine who told Salia what she was and what her special talent was. β¦ Salia couldn't remember what her name was, one of the tenants offered the idea of Salia and she took it. β¦ She hates bugs of all kinds, the only one that is acceptable are ladybugs.

β¦ Death Premonition - Like all Banshee, if someone nearby is going to die Salia will let out an enchanting screech. How long until that person dies depends on the Banshee, newer ones will know if someone will die that die while older Banshee's can predict someone deaths days in advance. β¦ Water Manipulation - Salia's family were very skilled at using water magic, herself included. She retained this magic after her death. Salia can control and move existing water molecules, this includes the basic stuff like water from a faucet or bath all the way down to the dew on a flower or water within the earth.
β¦ Long Life Span - Salia doesn't know if she will age, so far she has showed no indication of doing so since she awoke as a Banshee. She hopes that his isn't true as she fears the thought of staying in the body of a 22 year old for however long she may live. β¦ Aquatic Affinity - Because of her ties to water magic and the fact that when she was killed her body was dumped in the ocean, Salia is able to communicate with aquatic creatures.
There are a number of Giant subspecies, but the two varieties most commonly seen in engaging modern society are the most adaptive species; The European Mountain Giant, and the Western Lowland Giant. Western Giants tend to keep to themselves a bit more than their overcurious cousins and enjoy ageless careers in fields such as construction and agriculture. Alpine Giants have descended from their woodland homes over the past few centuries and have taken quite a liking to city life. They can be seen partaking of any number of physical jobs within the world's concrete jungles.
Giants are an ancient race of hardy, magicless creatures best known for their laborious natures and modest lifestyles. They love their jobs, and they work hard, to boot. Because of this, they usually have more money than they know what to do with, and ceaselessly stockpile it for no reason.
Giants are not and have never been among the fertile races of the world, and as only Alpine Giants will go the extra mile to socialize, plenty of folks may very well go years without catching even a glimpse of one. They're a pretty rare sight to behold, and Sethlon has already grown accustomed to the many instances of unapologetic staring from smaller races.
Giants' houses are usually handmade, renovated, or custom-ordered by their large inhabitants. Most must acclimate themselves to the constant ducking and kneeling required inside 'normal' houses and buildings.
They aren't immortal but do have longer lifespans. They will age aesthetically, as humans do, during their younger years (30 years or so) and it will slow to less than a crawl throughout the remaining 370 years or more. Giants do not generally exceed 400 years of age.
Because it is so difficult for Giants to conceive, Sethlon was doted upon before he was even born. Sadly, his being a Giant also meant he was going to have a rough go of it from the very beginning. Growing up, Sethlon was marked as a 'problem child' despite not having ever had a mischievous bone in his body. His many accidental hiccups were recorded as instances of vandalism. Any clumsiness resulting in the injuries of other children was marked as violence, inability to read homework was seen as rebelliousness, and his immunity to magic made disciplinarians wary of him. People knew of Giants, but were not at all educated in what is considered the norm for prepubescent gigantism, and nothing his parents said on his behalf seemed to convince those schools of his innocence. Parents were urging their children to steer clear of him, and the teaching staff could not stand him or his 'behavior'.
Worried for their son's declining mental health, the Kvalheims transferred their son from public schooling to homeschooling in the hopes that he might be safe from the constant judgment. He hated every second.
An old family friend came to visit at that time, a Giantess who worked as a salaried firefighter who'd recently moved back to her home country to work after some charity proceedings abroad. When she was initially told of Seth's issues, he'd been refusing to sit and talk with her because of how embarrassed it made him feel to be judged. It took months to coax him out to speak with Yahanna, but she finally got his attention; She told him countless stories about her job. Saving lives, winning medals, making new friends almost everyday... all things that had once seemed so incredibly far removed of his reach. That was the first time in his life that he'd believed he had a shot at being anything but simply a Giant, and it was also the first time he'd ever really aspired to become something. Yahanna quickly became a much needed pillar of support in his life, even encouraging the family to consider public school again so as to keep Seth from going back into isolation.
His life was still hard after that, yes, but he'd gone back into it prepared for the misunderstandings the second time around. He passed all of his classes, he tried tons of afterschool clubs, and even managed to make a few friends by the time he graduated. College was another hurdle that he'd managed to clear, having applied to two-dozen schools and having finally been admitted to one. It was practically ten times the work for the same education his non-dyslexic peers were getting, not that he minded pulling out all of the stops in order to pass. Preparation for his career in public service was a long road, to be sure, but Sethlon is FINALLY living his best life, with his dream job and plenty of friends. Work offers have taken him away from his hometown, so he does still have a bit of an issue with loneliness and anxiety when there are no other people around, but has managed to remedy this by moving into the Whitmore Boarding House. Can't be lonely in such a cozy place, right?
β¦ Seth is a firefighter and works on a 1:2 day schedule. (24 hours on, 48 hours off, repeat) β¦Horribly dyslexic, has a habit of asking the nearest ANYBODY for readings/translations. β¦ Too small for most vehicles, Sethlon does not own a car or ride them to get places. He jogs almost everywhere. He also sits *on top* of fire engines while working. β¦There is not enough food in the world to fill his stomach in one sitting. β¦His last mandatory checkup still showed signs of growth, as is to be expected. Male Giants are not fully out of their growth period until around 30 years of age. β¦He has a history of unintentional mishaps because he's a graceless bear. He still pays for a lot of repairs, and often, at that. β¦Certified for CPR, the Heimlich, and a number of other paramedic/first-response procedures. β¦Sethlon is a third-year jΕ«dan, or black belt, in judo. β¦Cutest bull in china shopβ’

β¦ If inherent nullification counts as a power, then that would be the only one he has. Adult Giants have an exceptionally high resistance to magic intervention, whether it be enemy fire or even a healer's magic. Because they have exactly zero access to magic, their natural defenses and immunities are nearly impenetrable.
β¦ 'Durability' - Giants are a large and hardwearing race, and as a result are highly durable and have a high tolerance for pain and the like. Despite his line of work and the constant physical demand, Sethlon has never been sick, physically overexerted, or broken a bone in all his 24 years of life.
β¦ Elemental Resistance - especially to extreme heat and cold, magic or non-magic origin be damned.
β¦Brute Strength - Giants are born sturdy and only get increasingly more rugged as time goes on. Their innate physical strength is ludicrous, and it's a truly blessing that Giants are such an easygoing and mild-mannered bunch. Even weaker, frailer Giants can lift, push, or pull around 50 times their own weight. Comparatively, Seth can lift, push, and pull the fire engines at work, equal to around 187 times his body weight.
β¦Eye --> Ear Tradeoff - Giants have terrible eyesight, even in their more lively years. Their brains have evolved to translate or to at least perceive oral speech/language naturally to make up for their visual shortcomings. Giants can hear sounds that many races cannot, such as dog whistles, and learn languages orally at astonishing speeds. Rather, you will never see a Giant pushing paperwork, as even the smartest among them reads at a below basic level. They hate reading and writing and will almost always call a person instead of texting back.
