The human species in it's current state of evolution has existed for a quarter of a million years. In spite of this, only the last four thousand years or so have been of any real significance. So, what did mankind do for nearly two hundred thousand years? We huddled together in dark caves and around small fires, afraid of the many things that we didn't understand. It was more than explaining why the sun came up or what our purpose was. It was the mystery of enormous birds with heads of men, flames that spoke, and rocks that came to life. So we called them 'gods' and 'demons,' and begged them to spare us and prayed for salvation.
As time passed and the world changed, their numbers dwindled and our numbers rose. Everything that happened around us began to make more sense when there were less things to fear. Yet, the unexplained can never truly go away, as if the universe demands the absurd and impossible. Mankind must never go back to hiding in fear, cowering in shadows. No one else will protect us. No 'god' will save us. we must stand up for ourselves. While the rest of humanity lives and prospers in the light, we must stand in the darkness to combat it, contain it, and shield it from the eyes of the public, so that others may live in a sane, normal world.
We are the Foundation. An organization formed for the sole purposes of protecting mankind from 'beings and items which jeopardize the normalcy of known reality.'
