Name
Mizuhana Yoshiba
水華 吉葉

Age
15

Origin
Kagoshima, Kagoshima Prefecture, Japan

Physical Description
Often appearing taller than she initially appears, Yoshiba Mizuhana is a spirited young girl who stands at 155 centimeters (around the threshold between 5’0” and 5’1”) with an athletic figure and rather unimpressive “figure” that Yoshiba isn’t entirely thrilled to have pointed out. When not in her designated school uniform (or dream hero attire) Yoshiba is rather plain, as much would not be a surprise since she doesn’t particularly have much for money to waste on frivolous things; as a result she doesn’t have many alternate pairs of clothes. When given the option to have preferences, she likes loose-fitting clothes that allow her to be mobile and isn’t sheepish or prudish in how she’s comes off. If people think her skirt is cut a little too short she doesn’t really pay any mind of it, for example.

Characterization
Antagonistic
Brash
Brave
Cocky
Loud
Proud
Tempermental

Personal History
The daughter of two seafaring heroes who were relatively acclaimed in southern Japan, Yoshiba had a long shadow to overcome before she was even old enough to walk. However, Yoshiba’s challenge to overcome would have nothing to do with their accomplishments as heroes but rather something a lot worse. Yoshiba was effectively raised solely by her mother, Kishiko, following the death of her father after he succumbed to his wounds following a fight with his sworn nemesis. Yoshiba’s childhood thereon would include stories of her father’s valiant deeds and the legacy of his actions as a pro hero. Despite the dangers of her profession, Kishiko never tried to deter Yoshiba’s enthusiastic perception of heroism or by extension, her father—heroism was encouraged and reinforced. However, this would not be the last time the actions of supervillains would influenced Yoshiba’s life.

When Yoshiba was nine years old, supervillains broke into her home in Kagoshima, Japan with the intent of ‘finishing the job’ after her mother had decimated their plan to overtake the region, a grueling plan that had cost them over-a-decade of planning and organization several months prior. Yoshiba doesn’t remember much of details surrounding the battle that leveled her childhood home, but she certainly did not forget what she lost in the aftermath of the battle; her mother died right in front of her as the cloaked villain moved in for the killing blow, and had it not been for the interception of another pro hero, Yoshiba probably would’ve joined her parents in the afterlife right then and there. It would be a thought she would consider a twisted irony after she had been reassigned to an orphanage when the police realized that Yoshiba had no living relatives to speak of and thus no guardianship to fall back on.

It’s been six years since that fateful day and Yoshiba’s drive to become a pro hero has only been reinforced. She intends to show the world that she is ready to be a hero.

Character Development & Conceptualization
Yoshiba is a character I’ve designed as an attempt to play around with the delinquent, smarmy overconfident type of characters. She’s brash, impulsive, loud-mouthed, and smug to pretty much the core of her character, but a lot of that has to do with her insecurities and what she’s been through. She was orphaned because of supervillains and had a pretty rough time in the orphanage that hosted her up until her application to the various academies in Japan. She wants to be great and show the world why supervillains need to be put down swiftly and justly.

Yoshiba is a survivor first and foremost and once you peel back the rigid tsun-esque shell there’s something more to her. Beyond that, there's a lot, but a good amount of her character development relies on who ends up in her classroom, how she interacts with them, how they push her to be better, and where she stands overall. I would like her arrogance and smugness by tempered by someone who becomes her parallel hero, someone she can count on but sardonically put’s down every time she can. A person she can call a rival, even though she will probably most often defer to them as a “sidekick”.

Abilities & Talents

Quirk Type
Mutation

Quirk Description
Known by the name of prehensile hair, Yoshiba’s quirk is far more versatile and dynamic than it seems. Yoshiba’s hair is an extension of herself, serving much like a nerve would rather than a muscle in that it shares and acts as Yoshiba’s consciousness wills it to. This includes the ability to “harden”, “sharpen”, and “grapple” among other functions—it has been likened to tentacles among other things for just that reason, though Yoshiba’s control of her quirk has been… inconsistent at best due to her constantly changing emotions, desires, and at times, loss of focus. This lack of self-control and inner focus serves as the quirk’s principal weakness, though it is not the sole weakness considering Yoshiba’s hair is still her hair and as such is not invulnerable despite it being far more durable than it has any right being.

Other Talents & Attributes
Mediocre Student: Yoshiba’s intellect is certainly lacking in some areas, a fact that can be seen in her average-to-mediocre test scores. While Yoshiba makes up for this by being good at physical evaluations and tests, she is constantly frustrated that academically she falters despite wanting to succeed.

Physical Conditioning: Some of Yoshiba’s supplementary talents and abilities include that of being a skilled swimmer and being rather physically conditioned due to the fact that since her mother’s death six years ago she had constantly put her body through hell; this includes her own training but also her tendency to get into schoolyard brawls, to which she used as a sort of outlet for her own emotional misery. Her ability to move around an urban environment, throw a punch, as well as swim is only accented by her quirk.

Natural Swimmer: As a facet of her quirk genetics inherited from her father’s side of the family, Yoshiba is a natural swimmer and has been since her feet first touched water. Whilst she has conditioned herself to be dexterous on land, in the water she is much faster; especially if she uses her prehensile hair to enhance her swimming abilities.

Personal Dossier

Name
Tanaka Shun

Age
15

Origin
Okinawa, Japan

Physical Description
Always taller than most boys his age, Shun is big in all respects. Heavier, taller and darker-skinned due to growing up on Okinawa, he sticks out like a sore thumb this far north. His dark brown hair is occasionally gelled up into a pompadour, and he walks around wearing a dumb grin on his face. His casual wear consists of wearing relaxed shirts and shorts, it’s a humorous sight to see him shivering as he walks outside between classes. But, as he says, ”The clothes are just part of who I am!”

Characterization
Earnest
Friendly
Honest
Helpful
Humorous
Lazy

Personal History
Shun was raised by his father, a racecar mechanic in Okinawa alongside three older brothers and a younger sister. Shun barely had any real memories of his mother, who was always "away on business" during his childhood. Her own work was kept secret in their household, as his father seemed particularly upset with his wife's career path. When Shun was 8, his mother was killed on one of her business trips, and his father became colder and more obsessed with work. Shun's more cheerful personality, something he seemed to inherit from his mother and grandmother, continued undaunted in these dark times, even masking his own sadness.

Whilst Shun's father and brothers all had the same quirk, Shun had inherited his mother's quirk: Overdrive. This seemed to create a further rift between Shun and his family, as he was still expected to assist with his family's business after school. In fact, up until his final year in middle school, Shun had never actually considered the hero course at all. During a class trip, one of Shun's classmates tripped over a railing, and Shun was able to grab her in time before she could fall. This was the first moment where Shun's homeroom teacher recommended he consider the hero course for high school, instead of going to a normal high school, and then to a technical school to get a degree in mechanics.

Shun's application process was an awkward series of misadventures. His scores were extremely average, and his aptitude with his quirk was pathetic. A month before his middle school graduation, Shun received a letter from Isshin Academy, a school he had not applied to (due to the sheer distance from home). His scores, quirk tests and interview all felt the same at every other school he applied for, and it all seemed hopeless.

And then he received his acceptance letter. Even without his father's blessing, Shun took the chance to pursue this odd career choice; based on both his teacher's recommendations and a serious conversation he had with his grandmother that same year...

Character Development & Conceptualization
Shun is a fun, relaxed and laidback character, and is meant to be an antithesis to the shonen protagonists that are so popular in the genre (and that I tend to roleplay all the time). Shun is relatively weak compared to his other classmates and has only made it this far due to his quirk’s abilities. The goal is to follow this lazy character that in any other medium be a background or punchline character and show how even someone like him can develop into an excellent hero. The other concept of his character is growing into his place as a hero and learning the truth behind some hidden family secrets. Dealing with the serious consequences of taking up a hero's mantle, as well as trying to live up to their ideals and expectations around those who knew them best is an interesting source of drama.

Abilities & Talents

Quirk Type
Emitter

Quirk Description
Many believe Shun’s quirk is based around simply charging up energy, but it’s a little more than that. Overdrive is simply Shun’s ability to store up kinetic energy, then release said kinetic energy any way he pleases. While he can do damage with his quirk, Shun’s greatest weakness is both in his physicality (out of shape) and in his ability to store the energy. It can take up to three minutes for Shun to charge up his quirk, leaving him both open to the counter-attack and incapable of performing a rescue. However, when he releases his kinetic energy, he is capable of both extreme speed and strength.

Overdrive is a deeper quirk than simply kinetic storing; as Shun's mastery of his quirk increases, he will be able to sap potential energy from objects (trains, cars, bikes, moving debris, etc) as well as draw out reserves of energy, though this technique comes at a great cost.

Other Talents & Attributes
Shun is a brilliant gearhead and can tear apart most small electronics and vehicles if left to his own devices. As far as his own physical abilities, Shun has fallen behind throughout his school years. His attitude has always been focused on taking it easy and relaxing, which has stunted his potential physical growth. He also lacks any sort of great stamina, rendering long applications of his kinetic charge weak. Shun is also a master around a barbeque, in case anyone gets hungry out there in the snow.

Personal Dossier

Name
Amuro Namie

Age
15

Origin
Tokyo, Japan

Physical Description
At around 5'6", Namie grew a little too fast for her body to catch up and appears deceptively leaner than she should be. The telltale signs of that is the impressive muscle definition that she manages to get when she flexes. Her natural lighter brown hair has an impressive length reaching her rear end but she usually keeps her air up in a pigtails. Her wardrobe and general presentation of herself is relatively laid back with variations clothes that an athlete would wear: team shirts and jackets, running shorts or tights, and so on. Additionally, a trait that may have come about her Quirk is her eyes are red.

Characterization
Resilient
Temper
Stubborn
Aspiring
Dutiful
Pompous

Personal History
For almost every memory has, Namie can only remember her and her dad constantly in between cities. It was the result of her father's Quirk, an ability to project blueprinted or planned construction, and thus, had the two traveling all over Japan to oversee construction or reconstructing efforts. It was the sort of life that was fairly lonely to an only daughter as the constant transferring of schools meant that she didn't have any time to make any lasting friendships. Beyond that, however, was the fact that Namie's mother had passed away and her lack of presence was certainly something that weighed heavily on the family.

At a young age, Namie lost her mother to circumstances that still haven't been made clear to her. She was in the line of duty as a professional hero and lost her life is all that Namie knows about her mother's death. Otherwise, her father isn't speaking much about the subject, even when pressed. However there is one thing that her father lets slip about the subject, she is a lot like her mother. From the Quirk she inherited to her stubbornness, there is a lot of emulation. Thus, there is a rather large part of Namie's essence that drives her to chase after her mother's legacy and become a hero. She can't settle on just becoming one; she wants to become the best. Ishin Academy was her first choice because even though it was the number two school in all of Japan, it would give Namie a chance to finally settle down in school for awhile. Maybe now, she'll find some peace of mind...

Character Development & Conceptualization
Namie is a person of high ambition but believes she is capable of achieving that ambition. She was given a quite versatile Quirk as part of making her capable in her own way but I plan on making her not creative enough to utilize the full versatility of said Quirk. Thus the aim is that she will have to work alongside others to discover not only creative Quirk applications but also to discover a bit more about herself. She hasn't really learned to work well alongside others. This is due, in part, to her past where her father had to travel around Japan a lot for work, often moving him and her around the country. She never really had time to fit in anywhere and make lasting friendships. Her selection of Ishin is in part due to her internal desire to finally be rooted long enough to make friends but mainly due to wanting to very capable as a hero.

Another character arc that I'd like to explore is the reason why Namie wants to be a hero. Her father works in the civil department, using his Quirk to help with rebuilding and building roads. Her mother passed away early in her life so she never really got to know her and even though her father is quite reserved about talking about her mother, she knows that her mother was a hero. This creates the ambition to use her mother's power to do her memory proud. Along the way, discovery of what actually happened to Namie's mother could reveal a potential antagonist or anything the overall story might profit from.

Abilities & Talents

Quirk Type

Quirk Description
In short, [Matter State] uses specialized glands under the skin turn viscous fiber into a maple syrup-like liquid that can be secreted from the body. The user of this Quirk can mentally alter the state of matter this substance is in by altering the temperature, making it warmer to turn into a gas and colder to turn into a solid. The boiling and freezing points are relatively low in energy requirements as in, in order for the for the user to turn the liquid into a gas, one just has to think about the liquid getting warmer until it reaches around 100 *F and for the solid around 20*F. The user can alter the temperature at their best so long as the substance is touching them and may struggle with temperature altering when the substance is away from their body. It isn't impossible to manipulate the state of matter of the substance away from the person but requires great concentration to achieve the almost telepathic thought with severely ramping difficult with distant from the substance (a feat Namie struggles with presently). The substance in all forms is noted to be quite dense, sinking to the bottom of a glass of water in both solid and liquid states. The user of this Quirk must maintain a high fiber diet and overuse of their Quirk will result in extreme dietary fiber loss. Low fiber in the body means that they will have horrid bowel activities and can even risk some more severe consequences of too much Quirk use.

Other Talents & Attributes
Namie has maintained a very healthy amount of athletic activities such as team sports, swimming, and weight training. Although not the biggest, strongest, or most standout Quirk, she still did very well in the psychical tests. Most of her experience with fighting comes from petty sport squabbles, usually due to a bit of stubbornness or self-importance on her part as losing wasn't ever her intent. Outside of a few school yard brawls, she hasn't had any opportunity for proper training, leaving her rough around the edges. In addition, she is motivated well enough to maintain a strong performances in the academic field as well.

Personal Dossier

Name
Genkuro Yoru

Age
15

Origin
Takamatsu, Kagawa

Physical Description
Standing at 5'3", Yoru is perfect height to be an idol. Her physical traits are well groomed. Her pure white hair is cut to a cute length and styled frequently, her dark skin is free from any noticeable blemish as a result of her extreme skin care, and her clothes seem to just fit better than other people. To call her an idol rather than a hero wouldn't be too far off.

Characterization
Attention-seeking
Spiteful
Self-centered
Artistic
Calculating
Vain

Personal History
Born to two pro heroes, Yoru's chance at a normal life was gone from the start. Unfortunately for her, neither of her parents decided to slow down their heroism. From a very young age, she was raised by a series of caretakers. They were fine, but none of them stuck around long enough to make a connection. The only friend that she had during all of this was her art. Years of charcoals, pencils, pastels and paints had formed her childhood. Art was the only thing that made her happy, but the direct scorn of her parents for this killed any interest the young Yoru once had on it.

As she grew, her parents kept on trying to instill their sense of heroism and justice on her. Every heroic thing she did was rewarded by her parents with love and affection, even if they were such small things as helping an old woman move a sack of rice. Conversely, every time she showed her parents her art or anything else unrelated to being a hero, she was meant with disapproval and ignoring. Even though they were her blood, her parents never felt like as though they raised her. The isolation corrupted Yoru. She would be a hero, even if it was just for the attention.

Of course, the easiest path was through a hero school. With all of her drive put towards becoming a renowned hero, she was just good enough to enter Ishin Academy—the school her parents wanted her to enter. Her path to superherodom would start there.

Character Development & Conceptualization
As a character, Yoru is meant to symbolize and exploit the issues of commercialized heroism. Rather than be a hero for the sake of helping others, she is a hero in order to become famous. She's meant to ask the question of what is actual heroism. If someone saves a life to save a life and another saves a life for fame, what's the actual difference between the two? Likewise, what does the effect of this commercialization and commodification have on these types of people?

Likewise, she's meant as a character who isn't able to do what she wanted. Her number one goal was to be an artist, but was unable to because of her parents disapproval. Being the child of two pro heroes, nevermind two absentees, has an effect on the head. For Yoru, becoming a renowned hero is a way to gain her parents approval. The fame she desires stems from the corrupted dreams of wishing to become a renowned artist and the belief that her parents will finally pay attention to her.

Abilities & Talents

Quirk Type
Emitter

Quirk Description
Going by the name [Black Paint], one can easily assume the basics of Yoru's quirk. From her mouth, she can exude a pitch black substance that allows for the creation of "holes". These holes can be created by the paint being placed on opposite sides of an object. If a direct path can be made between the two painted areas, instantaneous travel can be made between the two points.

Additionally, if something is covered in an uninterrupted line of paint, a light force will cause it to split into two. These objects are still connected, so to speak. The insides are covered by a thick black and a nigh indestructible elastic rope connects the now separated objects. While it can't be cut and resists almost all impact, the rope is limited to a ten meter stretch. Each meter is harder to pull than the next and the resistance approaches about infinity at that mark. Reattachment is as simple as placing the two separated pieces together again.

The paint has a simple weakness: it's a liquid. If it mixes with any other liquid, it will violently attempt to make things how they were. Any object intersecting a portal will be shot out via the path of least resistance. If a rope is wet, then it will slowly retract until fully repaired. Once the black paint is no longer intersecting a foreign object or reattaches separated parts, it will begin to wash off. It also lasts up to thirty minutes before flaking off and turning to dust, causing the same process as water.

Other Talents & Attributes
While rough around the edges, Yoru is half decent at art. She suffers from not actively pursuing her interests, but the effort she put into it during her early life is apparent. She also knows a bit about art history, but it's not often that it comes up.

Her voice and mannerisms are pleasant to listen to. This is less natural and more effort, as she has spent months of effort into making herself as marketable as a hero as possible.

She's also rather athletic. Not enough to win any competitions or set any class records, but she put the effort into exercising that she wouldn't be left behind by anyone.

Personal Dossier

Name

Akizawa Nadeshiko
昭沢 撫子

Age

15

Origin

Ōtsu, Shiga Prefecture, Japan

Physical Description

Nadeshiko is quite average for somebody of her age and ethnicity, standing at five foot four inches in height. Her body is comprised entirely of a semitransparent pink gel that forms itself into the shape of an averagely proportioned female of her age, not particularly muscular in appearance nor overly skinny. As such, her 'skin' is an entirely unblemished membrane of glossy goo that remains soft and supple to the touch unless she wills it otherwise. Her 'hair', styled largely on whim, hangs neatly around shoulder level in strands of ropey goo that mimic whatever cut is particularly popular at the time, so long as it does not interfere with her work. Large, lighter than normal eyes peer shyly from beneath these tendrils of slime, often avoiding the gazes of others. Her hair frames a face that, either by her own machinations or simple luck, remains explicitly ‘cute’, with soft, delicate lines, a small button like nose and pouty lips.

Characterization

Introverted
Modest
Nurturing
Empathetic
Passive
Melancholic

Personal History

Born in Ōtsu to an—at least in older eras—anomalous familial situation, Nadeshiko was raised by her mother alone for as long as she can recall. Her father and mothered had divorced while she was still a toddler, and as she grew, she could only wonder whether or not her birth had acted as the catalyst for their split, or if it had been an attempt to keep their tenuous relationship as one. Her mother, an inspector with the city's police force, was a domineering woman, and one who held the highest expectations for her only daughter. Having been denied the chance of Pro-Heroism in her youth, her mother had every intention of seeing that her own child would not make the same mistakes that had befallen her. Without the influence of a secondary parental figure to soften those expectations, and given Nadeshiko's own innately gentle nature, there was little to stop those ambitions from forming the mold that would be the girl's home life from the time she entered school on-wards.

A wallflower from inception, and forced to take her academic life with the utmost seriousness, Nadeshiko grew in relative isolation from her peers. She had few friends, and little inclination to make any, instead taking solace in the world of literature whenever she had the free time to dally. While her fellows idolized the Heroes who formed the pillars which held their society up, dreaming of the day that they may too join their hallowed ranks, the young goo-girl did not. For her, going Pro was not a lofty goal—it was an inevitability from which she would not escape. If she had any other hopes for how she would live her life, any other passions or dreams, she did not voice them. If she resented the inability to choose her own path, she lacked the courage to ever voice it.

For much of Nadeshiko's life, she remained sheltered, docile, a dutiful daughter who would do as she was bid and nothing more. She had scant ever left Otsu, let alone Shiga until the acceptance forms arrived at their humble home, announcing that the first, most important step towards an ambition two generations in the making.

Now, she embarks for Hokkaido, a mummer's farce of independence upon her, and a wider world to mold her in ways she had never accounted for.

Character Development & Conceptualization

Nadeshiko is much like her quirk would lead one to believe—malleable. The child of a would-be hero scorned in the days of academia and consigned to the 'shameful' fate of mundane police work, she has been groomed from early on as a vicarious second chance at life. Given little autonomy or say in how her life has gone, Nadeshiko is a reluctant character who is merely pursuing heroism at the behest of an overbearing parent. It is there that her primary arc focus lay—becoming her own person and evolving from a silent wallflower to somebody with more backbone... Despite actually lacking a literal spine.

Sub-developments include earning a newfound respect for the idea of heroics. Rather than merely chasing the glory of a big bust, or being a renown hero of great wealth as she has been shepherded to crave, her more kindly side seeks to take joy in merely helping those in need. Her character archetype is more supportive than anything else, leading her to focus more upon rescuing the victims of a burning building over combating the villain who started it.

That supportive nature should ideally extend to her peers. Achieving friendships with students willing to break her from her shell and give her the shove out of her complacent ways is another goal, with her providing emotional support for their endeavors in return due to her empathetic and non judgemental traits.

Abilities & Talents

Quirk Type

Mutation

Quirk Description

Nadeshiko’s quirk, aptly named Gelatinany is a Mutation that has converted her entire body into a malleable, semi-elastic gel. Though she retains human characteristics in her normal everyday life, she is capable of manipulating the shape of her body at will to conform to whatever task she needs. For instance, she may sink down into a puddle to slide under a door, or stretch herself into a large circular sheet to act as a safety net. Though still amateurish at it, she is also capable of manipulating the properties of her jelly like form, making herself more or less solid, increasing or decreasing her elasticity, causing herself to become sticky or very slick, or other yet explored effects.

Her goo is a very insulating substance, especially effective at deadening electricity. This gives her an advantage against quirks utilizing it. Conversely, this also weakens her against quirks involving high quantities of heat, as her body traps the energy in and it, for lack of a better term, causes her to “melt” and have difficulty keeping herself solidified. As she lacks any traditional organs, she is highly resistant to conventional damage. Indeed, the only way to truly ‘injure’ her as far as she knows, is to either remove portions of her gel like body or otherwise destroy them, causing her to shrink down in size and strength more and more until she is incapacitated or otherwise entirely dispersed. Traditional medicine is ineffective in treating her, as only reintroducing separated sections, or introducing her to fluids to absorb allow her to regenerate her body. Orange juice is her preferred choice.

Other Talents & Attributes

As an introverted individual, Nadeshiko is an avid reader with a strong memory. She is a veritable encyclopedia of trivial knowledge and mundane facts on a variety of topics, including an uncomfortable number of romance novella.

She is a very strong swimmer, both because of her physiology and from many a summer spent at Lake Biwa. She was the best member of the swim team at her Junior High and takes great joy in it.

Personal Dossier

Name
Tanegashima, Wakako

Age
15

Origin
Tomakomai, Iburi Prefecture, Hokkaido, Japan

Physical Description
Wakako is a very ungirly girl. She is distinctly muscular, possesses broad shoulders and is well beyond the average female height (6’1). She tends to have her hair short and reasonably well kempt. Her uniform is always neat and tidy, but whenever she can get away with it, she prefers to wear casual clothing, anything that wouldn’t be considered too “prim and proper”. She also likes to be a little showy if she can manage it.

Although it will not be immediately apparent when her midriff is not exposed, an extendable cannon barrel is built into the centre of Wakako’s stomach region, around where her belly button would be (although significantly larger). The recess the barrel sits in is circular and made from a steel alloy.

Characterization
-Boisterous
-Amiable
-Obedient
-Resentful
-Bullheaded
-Show off

Personal History
Wakako is the daughter of Sanae Tanegashima, a hero known for travelling around northern Japan by sea, and for being a graduate of Ishin Academy. Wakako’s father, Kenta, played the role of stay-at-home dad and raised Wakako during her formative years as Sanae did her work. Wakako was raised on tales of her mother’s heroism and of a romanticised life on the sea. Wakako naturally had two goals growing up as a child; become a hero, just like her mother, and sail on the sea, just like her mother. She wanted to be nothing less than one of those swashbuckling heroes that swooped and and beat the bad guys, and then party on a boat afterwards. When Wakako turned 10, Sanae, during one of her visits to her own house, offered to take Wakako on her boat as an apprentice. She wouldn’t be doing any fighting, she’d just get to experience sea life and do a little work here and there. Wakako enthusiastically agreed.

It was not long after stepping on board her mother’s boat that Wakako began to deeply regret her decision. Far from the romanticised sea life she’d always imagined, life on her mother’s boat was harsh and cruel. Having only met her mother every so often, Wakako had never really gotten to know her as a person. Being under her direct care, Wakako quickly learned that she was an extreme disciplinarian. As she put it, life at sea was about absolute obedience to the captain of the vessel, and a failure to follow instructions required correcting. All Wakako was expected to do was haul things around, swab the decks and help with the rigging, but even the slightest failure on these parts was met with harsh scrutiny from her mother. She never spared a moment to tell Wakako that her father had been far too lenient with her, and it was about time this all changed. Wakako’s illusions were thoroughly shattered, and while she remained a largely obedient girl, she grew to resent the life she once idolised.

While Wakako had in fact been planning to become a hero since she was a small girl, Sanae had never intended to give her a choice in the matter. Her daughter would be made in her own image, as that was what was best for her. This not only meant instilling in her a regimental lifestyle, but also physical development beyond typical means. Sanae Tanegashima is well known for being something of an amazon; both tall and obscenely muscular for a woman. Wakako had long since inherited her genetics as far as her height went, but now she began to grow her mother’s musculature too. Only a few years back, a younger Wakako would have relished the idea of being just like her mother. Now she hated what she saw in the mirror.

On her thirteenth, Wakako quietly made a resolution. She would not become her mother. While she never once openly rebelled against her, she would take any opportunity to distance herself from her image. Where her mother was cold and distant, Wakako tried to be more warm and welcoming. While her mother preferred conservative, modest attire, Wakako preferred casual clothes that were brightly coloured. While some of these traits she had already possessed as a young girl, now she employed them as a means of quiet resistance. Her mother was no fool, and she saw the growing trend. She dismissed it as a youthful fancy. It was just a phase. The foolish girl would soon realise that no amount of contrarianism would mean anything to her plans to make her a better person.

The clincher to her plan was, as she had always planned, for Wakako to attend Ishin Academy. Sanae was sure that her old school would quash any remaining foolish thoughts in her daughter’s head and turn out a proper, civilized hero. Wakako, with little choice but to follow the path her mother had set her upon, prepared herself mentally and physically for the rigours of studying at Ishin. Wakako would not be a rebellious, petulant student, but she would never be a “perfect” one. If they sought to make her an automaton, she would not be broken. She resolved to always be her own person.

Character Development & Conceptualization
Taking some inspiration from Etranger, I decided to create a character that in some ways fit the culture of the school, but not necessarily in a willing fashion. Wakako is a girl that has had obedience and discipline forced upon her, and she is not the type to go around committing wanton acts of disrespect and delinquency. However, she neither likes nor wishes to model herself upon the culture of the school. She may be a giant of a girl, but she has a little girl’s heart, and she still wants to be the light hearted hero she imagined being as a child. The school may yet try to break her, but she will resist it passively to the end.

I initially considered making her more sullen and cynical due to her experiences, but not only do I feel like there’s enough of those types of characters around, and the idea of her being almost deliberately cheerful just to passively spite her mother appealed more to me. Technically speaking, a lot of her characterisation is based on spiting and resisting her mother and rigid cultural values, but at the same time, to be a cheerful, loving hero like All Might (direct inspiration pending confirmation of his existence).

Abilities & Talents

Quirk Type
Mutation

Quirk Description
Navel Artillery – This quirk involves the person having a battleship-esque cannon built into their stomach area. The cannon barrel can be extended and retracted at will for whatever purposes suit the user. The ammunition is generated inside the user’s body and funnelled into the cannon by muscle movement. Despite their biological origins, the shells are exactly what you might expect from a naval gun; possessing a metal shell and exploding on impact. The cannon presently has a maximum range of 24 miles, dependant on environmental factors.

Not being magically immune to their own explosions, the user must avoid firing in a manner likely to have their shells explode in their own face, unless they’re feeling suicidal. Firing the cannon also creates a large kickback effect, which can have creative applications, but is likely to be a liability depending on the person’s user’s surroundings. The user must ingest ingredients conducive to creating artillery shells in order to maintain the viability of their quirk, and while the user has a biological tolerance to the presence of such substances in their body, ingesting them is by no means a pleasant experience.

Other Talents & Attributes
-Raw Physical Power: As part of her mother’s campaign to make her in her own image, Wakako was pushed into a brutal physical training regimen. She got enormous muscles and a big lifting capacity out of it at the expense of looking like an absolute ogre.

-A Tolerance for Tedium: Wakako has lived the last five years of her life toiling on a boat, lifting things and cleaning. She has developed a tolerance for being subjected to boring tasks and doing what she must in order to avoid belligerent shouting from overbearing authority figures. It also makes her great at maintaining an exercise routine.

Personal Dossier

Name
Kunze Adrianne

Age
15

Origin
Düsseldorf, Germany

Physical Description
Adrianne is a composed lady, standing at about a striking five feet and ten inches, which is a height above most female peers; funny enough, shes still growing despite it all. For the most part, she displays a moderately muscled, hardened physique, with a flat, taut abdomen to boot. Her figure, for the most part, is one expected to have at this state of growth in a teenager, and tends to do her best when caring for said body. Like her family, Adrianne's natural hair coloring is black, with the white steaks being dyed and "experimental" as she calls it. Following more traits of her family (mother's side) are her piercing, focused red eyes; she used to wear glasses, but now sticks to wearing contacts due to the nature of her powers. The only thing she really got from her dad was the fact that she grew two small horns like him on the sides of her head. Other than that, she often has a frown that generally makes her appear to have a scornful, resting bitch face.

If anything is to say about her clothes, its... that Adrianne has never picked them out. Honestly, if it looks good to her parents, she'll just roll with it, such as the given example of her current wear displayed above. The first thing to note is the clear, white blouse she has on, which is somewhat large considering that it obscures the skirt she has on. Following this are a couple of purple ribbons that she has been taught to tie around at certain portions on her body. The only thing she can really say that she likes about said clothing is that it mostly is loose.

Personal History
Quirks... they defined the family legacy, their culture, and why they were so specific. This is what made the Kunze's reject any notion of those who didn't fall under their concepts, their creation of a hero, their desires, the history they wanted to leave on this world. So what happens when someone is born not fitting into this mold? It depends on the progenitor, the parents they come from... as well as the current matriarch or patriarch of the house and triumvirates.

They weren't revered as a great house that bred top heroes for nothing, especially since attending some of the top schools for being a hero was the norm.

Adrianne was born in Düsseldorf to a pair of Pro Heroes, one of which had a job outside of heroism; her mother with telekinesis who was one of many children born from the Kunze lineage and her father who had the quirk to transform any part of his body, sometimes his entire self, into an entity resembling a demon in old myths and legends; he also worked as an elementary teacher. Growing up, she was the middle child, between her older brother Lukas, and her younger sister, Zelda. For the most part, their lives were normal, as much as you could call normal in this quirky world. However, it was more like Adrianne's world was a ticking time bomb as a result of the family she was born into.

Her mom was of a Germanic heritage, one that cultivated and grew children with psychic quirks... mostly telekinesis. They would often grow these children to be the very best through strenuous training that forced them to expand their powers before sending them to one of higher up hero academies of the world when they came of age, though mostly U.A. due to it consistently ranking #1. While it was expected of the family to have children with psychic quirks, her older brother and younger sister managed to manifest their own as Telekinesis. Adrianne on the other hand gained her fathers quirk instead - being able to transform certain parts of her body into limbs or parts into anything she would like, though she would often manifest these as parts similar to those of a demon, mimicking her dad. Upon discovering that she wasn't a late bloomer, the Kunze's general consensus was that she was to be disposed of, preferably put into an orphanage much like any of the other children who lacked the family quirk. Most of the family expected Adrianne to disappear from their lives and be a forgotten empty memory, with a possible divorce that followed suit. However, the strange thing was there was none of it. In fact, her mother, nor father fought about this and decided that they wouldn't abandon their child to uphold that legacy.

This had its own drawbacks as it made the annual family meetings in Germany awkward, especially when it came to discussions about further training involving said children. None of the adults, aside from her own parents even acknowledged her; playing with her cousins was an alright ordeal, at least until she noticed something - her quirk actively contrasted with the rest of the others, who had, comparatively speaking, psychic quirks. Honestly, it was a bit strange, but she never felt the impact later in her life until more and more of these annual meetings continued. Everyone began to act foreign to her and distanced themselves from her, with the only people ever truly acknowledging her were her siblings and parents. Silence from the adults changed to something more malicious as she was met with callous remarks. Only when her mother eventually took her aside, she then learned what was going on and why. While it was a bit difficult for her childlike mind to understand, there was a certain type of juvenile hatred, yet desire to be accepted. She tried her damndest to be noticed, or have them acknowledge her, only to be met with the same condescending attitude than before.

Their responses towards her only seemed to embitter Adrianne, who was now driven by a mixture of spite and a desperate attempt at being loved by those who chose not to acknowledge her, even going so far as to mimic the training she saw Lukas and Zelda go through! Of course, when some members of the Kunzes caught wind of this, they decided to play it off to their advantage, maybe break the girl a little and drive her so far away so she could never besmirch the family legacy they were constantly trying to uphold and show to the world. The demeaning and scathing remarks would continue as long as she continued this training, with statements that she was constantly behind; this didn't help the young girl due to her being pushed into scenario's more befitting of users with psychic quirks, more so when put to training that was similar to her older brother. Adrianne would ultimately fail these most of the time, but more often than not she would either power through or be assisted by Lukas. His help, as well as the shared training methods and caustic comparisons between her and her older brother would cause the girl to begin harboring a growing resentment towards him over time. Outside of this all, she would often prove to be superior to everyone else in physical activities, taking pride in displaying that she was better than them at that. However, that change was never enough for the Kunze's; nothing was ever enough.

After her first time training with the family over summer vacation, Adrianne's father decided to take some of the matters into his own hands. Utilizing a "specialized" version of quirk counseling that the children received, her father supplemented her with his own training that would actively benefit her instead of the torture she would endure as a result of the Kunze's "training." Of course, he actively made sure she had time to relax as well and took her out on fishing trips, one of his favorite past-times. While this did help her train her quirk a bit, her zeal towards proving herself never faltered and as a result, every year was a constant rinse and repeat. Aspects of her personality and life began to boil over as she began honing her body on a grandiose scale, but forgoing any sort of connection to other people and sacrificing any and every aspect of her social life in the process; this also produced a strained relationship with her very own brother to the point of always trying to one-up him, which was only made even worse when he decided to attend U.A., the #1 ranked school in the world for heroics. The Kunze's encouraged it, seeing it as a way to continue displaying their greatness, as well as giving the boy a chance to shine; it also helped that a few of them were graduates from that place, including the current patriarch.

Upon hearing this, their father was ecstatic and approving of the choice, but their mother was firmly against it for a multitude of reasons at first. However, she was eventually won over and accepted his choice after witnessing the hard-work he had gone through, the enthusiasm he displayed, and a certain desire in his eyes. With everyone having a unanimous agreement, the Kunze's began utilizing their connections and reputation to ensure that Lukas would get in through recommendations. Meetings were made with children and friends to prepare for his lodgings, Lukas and his parents began filling out most of the paperwork (with him doing most of the work), and Adrianne was on the sidelines, bearing witness to all this. During this time, she became more unresponsive, quiet, brooding, and above all envious; it was all just too much.

A chill lingered in the air around the girl during this time as she began to push herself and train even harder to the point where she would just pass out from frustration, exhaustion, or a mixture of both. The demeaning comments from the Kunze's as she continued to push herself didn't exactly help her state of mind and she straight up just ignored her parents concerns for her to take a break. Everything that was happening, her brother heading to the best hero school in the world, the Kunze's lauding him for his achievements and starving her of any praise didn't do much to help, eventually leading the poor girl to her breaking point.

Out of envy and frustration, Adrianne decided not to attend the school her mother or father attended and instead began to do research on Japan, forgoing her original desire to head to the #1 school in Europe to prove herself. That wouldn't be enough, no, it would never be enough. The Kunze's would continue to ignore her, treat her lesser than the dirt she walked on. She pondered on attending U.A. for a second before recalling her older brother. How would she be able to stand out from someone who was going to get in by recommendation? The Kunze's certainly wouldn't do that for her. They would never focus on her, ignoring every single achievement she made in favor of her older brother, never seeing what she was capable of, never appreciating her for the bullshit they put her through. They would never understand her.

So screw U.A. Adrianne was confident she could get in, but that didn't matter if the results would remain the same, so she targeted the second best hero school in Japan - Ishin Academy. She wasn't just going to make herself heard, she was going to rip the spotlight away from Lukas and show the Kunze's, the students, the staff, and everyone her worth. She wasn't just going to be a shadow to her brother, constantly being overlooked. So, in the midst of her training, she began pouring more and more research into the place, even requesting that her parents get that same Japanese language tutor they had for Lukas over. Of course, they said no and constantly tried to get her to apply somewhere else, even stating she could get into the #1 hero school in Europe. This would continue until they saw something reminiscent of Lukas in their eyes; while the reasons for her going differentiated largely, they saw that same desire. Defeated and mildly worried, they hired the tutor once more.

Over the course of these few passing years, everything continued to get harder and harder for her, especially since she learned more about Ishin through a second hand source - the tutor. She learned about how rigorous the school was as she began recollecting and regaling tales her close friend told her about the place, especially with how they treated foreigners. It caused her to draw more similarities to her own relatives than before, causing a certain disdain for the place to be imprinted upon her mind and only further amplified the sheer spite she had for the Academy and the Kunze's. Of course, it didn't help that the Kunze's caught wind of this endeavor and desire swiftly and took advantage of Adrianne's feelings. During the Kunze's annual training, they made points that only a few of them had been able to graduate from that place with their dignity and pride intact, even occasionally slipping that there's no way someone like her would possibly succeed, and that she should just give up.

These blunt, minor remarks were a far cry from the indirect way of getting her to give up, yet in this stage in her development, they were enough to push her even further, stirring up the accumulated spite within even more. No matter what they said to her, no matter how they treated her, she wasn't just going to give up, she would never.

It wasn't in Adrianne's nature to give in so easily after all.

Character Development & Conceptualization
My first thought over her when creating this chick was a reverse-Todoroki... namely due to where she originated from, but that's a story for another time. Adrianne is a character that I see fighting against society itself, specifically her Mother's side of the family. As a result of not being born with a psychic or telekinetic quirk, she is often forgone by most people over said side, and even shunned or bullied. This (probably) wouldn't be such a large problem if her mother's side of the family wasn't known for producing great Pro Heroes with said psychic or telekinetic quirks, but I digress. In due part, she fights against the discrimination she faced growing up, to make said family bear witness to the powers they ultimately devalue when "creating" new heroes. Granted, this comes with some drawbacks, such as the meaning of being a hero to Adrianne, but that'll be covered later on.

Right now, I see her as being antagonistic to a certain degree, and probably not making a whole lot of friends. If anything, she'll probably be dismissive or frustrated at the other students, namely due to trying to prove herself, but mostly because she lacks any sort of knowledge over how to have a normal conversation with another person. Uniquely, she'll probably impose the views her Mom's side of the family has onto the school itself, seeing them as a stone to defeating aid families mindset.

To add on to the latter portion, namely the way she interacts with others, I made her mostly a workaholic who has a singular goal and works tirelessly at it. Adrianne lacks any sort of social life and has been a sort of reclusive girl her entire life, never bothering to stop and smell the roses. I hope for her to start off, again, not thinking too much, but show some sort of growing desire for acceptance and companionship amongst her peers, eventually blossoming into respect and other things.

Following that, it would help her get through this unhealthy aspect of life, i.e. focusing primarily on work, and not working on improving other aspects of her life that help make a healthy person.

The question, what it means to be a hero I don't think has ever popped up in her mind. In fact, the only reason she's going out of her way to prove herself is to force her mother's side of the family to see the value in powers like hers, as well as to be accepted. Basically, to be a "great" hero; by "great," I don't mean that she'll be selfless and altruistic. Ironically enough, she'll be more like said family at first, motivated purely by her own self-interest. Eventually, I hope to develop her into someone who decides to "shrug" off the family name and strike out as her own hero; one that inspires hope in the "underdogs" of society, and those who are generally oppressed.

To sum it up, she ironically is becoming the same thing she is fighting against, but I want her to grow out of it, possibly learning to not only be a better person, but to respect and understand others, and do what it takes to go beyond and become her own person.

Abilities & Talents

Quirk Type
Transformation

Quirk Description
Adrianne's quirk developed from her father's side, allowing her to take on the guise of what many would consider to be a demon. This comes from what she first changed her body to display, traits associated with demons or demonic beings. This can cause people to mistake that for being her quirk, calling it something akin to a [Demonic Manifestation]. However, this could not be more farther than the truth

[Transmutation] is the true identity of Adrianne Kunze's quirk, in which she transforms a part of her body into something else, such as morphing her own legs into ones resembling a horse for example. However, she seemingly chooses to shape and contort her body into things that resemble a demon, instead of anything else within the realm of possibility. While these do mostly serve to augment her physical strength, this limitation prevents her from getting creative with what the quirk can do.

The way she has to go about this is multifaceted, having to envision not only the general shape and design of how she wants to change her body, but has to understand the composition and the weaknesses that come along with that as well. Sure, she could change her limbs to make them more suited for punching, but at the cost of possibly being slow as one example. In this case where she can only take on a demonic visage, she should take care not to get any of her edges caught or embedded in anything, such as claws getting stuck in a wall.

Furthermore, due to how much energy it takes to transmute her body into something else, she has quite the voracious appetite. She needs all the nutrients she can get to ensure her transformations are not only effective, but work. If she loses certain ingredients, this can cause her to tire out or become ineffective in a fight due to using them up to transmute her body into something else. Either that, or she might not be able to completely form that.

The final weakness of this is focus. Adrianne needs to mentally exert herself to retain the form she has created, otherwise she reverts back to her regular, human form. The more she transforms herself, the more she has to focus. For an example, something small like increasing her bust a bit would not exert her too much and could be an afterthought, but something like changing her arms into large, chitinous growths with sharp fingers for claws at the end will make it a lot harder for her to keep that focus. So basically, she needs to keep her anger in check.

Other Talents & Attributes
Don't Underestimate Me!: You think she can't handle a punch or give one back without her [Transmutation]? Family training on her mothers end, as well as her fathers training, boxing lessons, as well as a few scuffles without her quirk will say otherwise.

German, Japanese, I Got It: As a result of trying to prove herself to her own family, as well as being able to speak with future classmates, she has taken it up to become bilingual. While she did pick up the tongue of her German heritage rather quickly, Japan was a bit difficult to come by... but nevertheless, she doesn't make as many mistakes as she did before!... probably.

Hook, Line, and Sinker: Whenever she wasn't busy working herself to be the absolute best, her father often brought her out on fishing trips... rather, dragged since she would probably keep declining if he didn't. She started out hating it, then begrudgingly going along with it since there was nothing to do, and finally silently enjoying it.

Jab, Jab, Left Hook!: As a part of her own physical training, she often works out and partakes in boxing. While she is a bit of a rookie, Adrianne has a really nasty left swing, and is more of a southpaw than anything. This training also helps her destressify, via inelegantly punching the crap out of a bag or her trainer.

Mind Spotting Me?: To continue over the latter, this is a part of her families (mothers side) training regiment, taking to it a lot easier than her cousins and very much excelling in it. Enjoys taking in the fact that shes superior in this section when compared to said cousins and even her own brother as well.

"Me? I just like striking when the iron is hot!"

Personal Dossier

Name
(八野) Yano, Haruhi (ハルヒ)

Age
15 ("Juu-go sai desu!")

Origin
Nara-shi, Nara Prefecture, Japan

Physical Description
All cheeks and lips or rather those are the first two predominant features noticed when first meeting Haruhi. Her natural allure rests in the fact that she is almost always seen with an unabashed smile leading almost everyone to feel an instant connection and overall happiness or comfort when greeting her. Besides her blushing rose colored cheeks her hair is another source of appeal with it being naturally colored in the shade of an almost shinier pastel green. Perhaps it was a side effect of gaining her quirk or just some genetic mutation. Whatever the case would be, Haruhi would wear her hair color proudly and make it a centerpiece of her hero-to-be persona, along with her matching eye color.

Other than her enchanting eyes and hair the rest of her physique was quite normal or even average in what you would expect from a fifteen-year-old girl. Her figure wasn’t diminutive nor was it giant, she instead stood at a modest height of 164 centimeters. The rest of her body is quite slim with a body weight never exceeding 49 kilograms. Although she looks dainty and sweet, there is a certain roughness she possesses. Due to her choice of hobbies her hands usually develop several callouses to the point she doesn’t bother painting her nails or using lotion. Not only that but she is usually quite dirt and bruised when she’s not at school. Something she seems to find a merit in rather than embarrassment.

Characterization

  • Energetic
  • Outgoing
  • Vivacious
  • Determined

Haruhi is one who always looks forward and never looks back. Her desires, passions, and general curiosity of how the world works dictate her autonomy. This has manifested over the years like a precious metal being tempered until perfect. The process is yet to be complete, but so far, the fruits of its labor can be consumed in how Haruhi presents herself now. Her natural aura radiates positivity to the point where she doesn’t even need to spare a thought of negativity. That’s not to say she’s uncapable of experiencing it, just that she hasn’t ever been in a position to be exposed to it. She lives her life in the moment and in the clouds, this unfortunately gives her a more ‘aloof’ and ‘airheaded’ appearance than she means to give off. She just rather focus on dismantling a metal warehouse screw by screw than the current social fad.

Personal History
For lack of a better word, Haruhi’s personal history was ‘uneventful’. She never had any issues with herself or her family. They were your regular nuclear family with two children, the latter sibling not coming into play until she was well on her way to Ishin academy. You could say it was her parent’s way of keeping busy while she was sent off. Anyways, during her childhood she was a bit abnormal compared to the other kids. Her curiosity of the world got the better of her when she would watch her father assemble countless pieces of furniture for her and her mother. Not only furniture but the family car, kitchen and bathroom appliances, hell anything that needed some assembly and nuts or bolts. She mirrored her dad in this way but with one slight difference, she disassembled everything and by everything Haruhi literally unscrewed anything she could get her hands on. She traced her fingers from manual to manual working backwards instead of from step 1. It started with small basic things until it got out of hand and warranted the intervention of her father. Neither of her parents saw this as problem, but rather an opportunity to teach.

And so, despite some dejected sighs and shallow laughs her father guided her from her disassembly to final product with everything. Eventually as her quirk began to manifest, it made her productivity and hobby even easier and less dangerous with the retirement of certain power tools. With this her father took her under his wing allowing her to both help and observe everything he did and built. When she wasn’t with her father, instead of going to the mall or the movies with a gang of friends like the stereotypical adolescent. Haruhi instead found herself wandering off into the nearest scrapyard or chop shop in which she exposed herself more to her lifelong passion. Countless nights were spent digging through scrap, disassembling, and honing in on her quirk potential or at least what a double digit aged kid could master at that age (which wasn’t very much). Metal and the local Nara deer invoked her to seek out a way to share her knowledge and be something more. Despite being in love with metal the sound of being an engineer or warehouse worker didn’t appeal to her. She wanted to use her quirk for the greater good and be a voice for the provocative minds out there that don’t get a voice just because they aren’t as physically flashy quirk or not.

Her goals may not have been on par with the fire that some of the students who had chosen to go pro from going through adversity or just sheer ambition from a young age, but it was a respectable one none the less. Thoughts of being in the top 10 or even a symbol for the people were at the very back of her mind, she just wanted to take one step at a time. Given her parents blessings the young and vibrant green headed girl applied for Ishin academy and never looked back.

Character Development & Conceptualization
I have multiple goals for Harui. One of the first things I would like to work on for her is strengthening her powers. Right now, she thinks her only ability and limitation is the control of metals and the attraction and repulsion of them to her. I would like her to fully understand and learn how to use her metal manipulation in both support and offensive. Perhaps if we get far enough have her proficient enough to manipulate quicksilver.

Another facet of Haruhi’s character I want to tackle is having her meet the ugliness the world can bring, as you can gather from her bio and personality she’s never really had to think or feel sad or scared of anything that wasn’t beyond her comprehension. She lived in a sort of bubble if you will. While she did have access to TV and news media she never once bothered with it as she spent most of her time outside or in her own methodical world. I want her to feel despair in order to empathize with everyone. To be able to lean on others and ground herself more to reality to fully flesh out her path and choice to be a hero.

The previous hope for Haruhi goes hand in hand with my next point. Haruhi has never had friends nor needed to dabble with the idea of teamwork. She had always been an army of one or even two on occasion if you count her dad. She has no coordination with anyone other than herself and does not know how to trust others with her life and safety. Nor does she know how to play off the strength or weaknesses of other or had to think about what other dangerous quirks could exist out of her prefecture. Building a strong support network and lifelong friendships well into both adult and pro hero life would be something I’d like her see grow into.

Last but not least I would love to see Haruhi create her own agency in which she specializes in teaching kids with quirks that aren’t purely offensive and can be used more meticulously in shaping the battlefield and knowing how to deal with surroundings/environments that aren’t beneficial for their specific quirk. But before she can even think of starting an agency, she would need to know what it takes to be and exemplify not just the hero she wants to be but a hero in general. I want her to learn new things about herself, the hero association, and through her teachers on how to really become a hero worth making note of.

Abilities & Talents

Quirk Type
Emitter

Quirk Description
Nuts and Bolts is the name she bestowed to her quirk. Her quirk allows her to manipulate any and all metal that she can encounter. In a basic sense this quirk has capabilities that extend to the creation, shape, and manipulation. The ceiling and trajectory for her metal manipulation is quite high, but for now she’s stuck to rather basic abilities. She trademarked the name nuts and bolts because it is what she identifies with the most. From childhood she’s always unscrewed and screwed back in thousands if not hundreds of thousands of screws, washers, anything that holds items together. With this she carries around small pouches of regular screws in her pockets and on her person in order to use her quirk. So far, she can attract and repulse her screws and most stray pieces of metal she can find as projectiles akin to arrows or bullets. From the metal she can accumulate she can also coat singular limbs or parts of her body with a thin layer of screws or metal (e.g. coat her hand to make a makeshift gauntlet or a small breastplate to take the brunt of the force out of an attack). She can also unscrew structures from a distance close in proximity at an augmented rate and pull/push herself to/from metal surfaces.

Her weakness however in this ability is the abundance of metal in her environment. If there is nothing she can manipulate in her nearby vicinity and she no longer has her bags of screws and scrap metal, she has no way of utilizing her quirk as she cannot create metal on her own yet. Not only this but her control of metal is directly proportionate to her size. For now, she cannot control or move any metal that is larger than her in both height and weight.

Other Talents & Attributes
Mind Map - The only other attribute she really prides herself on is her brain. She looks at almost everything as if were a blueprint always trying to pick it apart in her head so she can find out how it works.

Human Sponge – Not really a marketable ability but Haruhi is quite often seen around carrying a cup of water with a bendy straw. She tries to drink more than three liters a day and almost always refilling her cup in between classes. It’s bizarre how much water she can drink without drowning herself.

Personal Dossier

Name
空夜 はじょう (うつや はじょう) Utsuya Hajo

Age
15

Origin
Ashiya, Hyōgo Prefecture, Japan

Physical Description
Standing at a 5'2", with a fair complexion, Hajo's an average girl, if perhaps of a noticably-lean build compared to most girls her age. She has long and wavy, lavender hair that reaches down to her tailbone, and blue eyes that contain a very faint swirly pattern, and naturally long lashes. Hajo is generally considered pretty and "preppy", with a bright and open face, and a beaming smile. Her cheeks tend to carry a gentle blush, giving her an excited or formally flushed appearance, which is amplified often due to her easily-embarrassed nature.

Characterization
• Carefree • Enthusiastic • Brave •
Hajo does not tend to concern herself with negative thoughts or possible consequences, showing a happy-go-lucky attitude, and often jumping right into whatever plan was made. She is easily excitable and easy to rope into things, often being the first to charge head-first into whatever lies ahead.

• Airheaded • Frank • Socially-Awkward • Naive • Indecisive •
Hajo isn't the sharpest tool in the shed; though highly curious, passionate, and inquisitive, she struggles learning anything unless the subject deeply interests her. Furthermore, she tends to project her own carefree and forward disposition onto others, ignoring things like decorum and personal space all too often, sometimes without realizing her own rudeness. She also struggles to settle with things, showing a somewhat flightly disposition.

• Talented • Kind •
Hajo is, in spite of her academic struggles and interpersonal deafness, a gifted girl when it comes to select subjects. She's been noticably adept at playing with her Quirk ever since a young age, and pet projects like learning how to surf have proven that she learns quickly whenever she is passionate about something. Perhaps precisely because of her general lack of academic success, Hajo is very considerate in sharing her knowledge and strength, readily helping others without any sort of sense of superiority.

• Reverent • Easily-embarrassed • Romantic •
As a result of her parents' strict regimen, Hajo has been instilled with a deep respect for superiors; even a tour guide could 'cause her to burst into tears if they were to reprimand her. Being called on or lectured is one of her biggest fears, causing her to behave almost comically-well in most settings that involve a person of authority. Furthermore, she gets extremely flustered when called out or even just complimented; a fact that is a great cause of embarassment for Hajo, as she - a naive romantic at heart - tends to crush on boys easily and often.

Personal History
Born into a wealthy family, great expectations were placed in Hajo and her brother ever since their birth. The siblings were raised with meticulous care and great demands, a fact that weighed heavily upon them, despite their comfortable life in one of Japan’s wealthiest residential areas. While Hajo remained an unbeat ditz, she readily deferred to her parents demands; her brother, Shinko, did not. He grew more rebellious and vocal with each passing year. And though his parents would admonish him constantly, Hajo admired her brother for his free spirit and passion; this admiration fueled her, no matter what struggles she faced.

Shinko, at this point having defied his parents diligence, was granted plenty of freedoms Hajo was not, and though he would sometimes be reprimanded for his recklessness and inappropriate behavior, his brilliance kept him out of hot water; he was well-liked by classmates and teachers alike for his charms, his athletic prowess, and his academic success. Hajo had long idolized him, but the way he forced his way out of parental control was beyond her imagination, and only stoked her admiration. She worked hard on becoming like Shinko, even if his academic prowess eluded her, much to her parents' disappointment. Though she could never defy them like her brother, Hajo, by the end of middle-school, had absorbed many of his interests and can-do attitude. Realizing the senseless fight they've been fighting, Hajo's parents curbed their expectations for the sake of their daughter - they were, after all, still loving parents. It all seemed almost too perfect to Hajo: Soon she’d join Shinko when she would finally attend Shiketsu High, much like him and their parents before them.

Until it happened.

Nobody knew how, who, or why. But a series of attacks shook the region, indiscriminately targeting civilians, heroes, and students of the prestigious school; Shinko among them. Hajo didn’t understand. Her brother - wild, brilliant, kind - a sureshot to become a great and beloved pro hero - had been left Quirkless. The next time the family gathered at home felt like a funeral. Shinko, usually one to crack an outrageous joke that lured a small smile even out of their stoic father’s mouth, sat with clenched hands. Hajo had never seen her parents so flustered and uncertain. Hajo herself still felt the same admiration for him, though she knew that something was amiss and could not be replaced. It wasn’t until she asked him to help her with her application to Shiketsu that she knew just how much had changed: Brimming with bitterness over the fact he’d have to drop into a different course, deprived of his chances to become a hero, he yelled at her in an outburst of anger. He had never so much as raised his voice at her before, being an exemplary big brother, protective and kind of his little sister. This Shinko was a different person. Saddened by the change, Hajo surmised a plan. She would not so much as apply to Shiketsu, sensing that her attendance of the very course Shinko was robbed of, with such a similar Quirk, would drive a lasting wedge between them. It wasn't only her plans that changed, though; Hajo had always aspired to become a hero because… well, who didn’t want to be a hero? Admiration and glory. The ability to help others. And to be more like her brother.

Now, she needed to be a hero. To inspire others. To defy evil. To find a way to return Shinko to his former self. She wouldn’t rest until she was able to restore his path, their family's path. And if she had to become the greatest hero the world had ever seen, only so she could make people believe even in a Quirkless young man like her brother?

Then she would do just that.

Character Development & Conceptualization
Hajo has been a bright and happy, but ultimately simple-minded girl her entire life. I'd like her to mature, to grow beyond the happy-go-lucky desires - The primary catalyst to this shift is her ambition to "rescue" her brother, and by extensions, other people. Though this has been set in-motion already, it's a very recent development that will gradually change Hajo over the course of her time at Ishin.

Second, I'd like her to simply provide a positively-toned backbone to the cast, a source of positivity and comedic bits. This doesn't necessarily require a lot of character development, but it certainly is a fundamental aspect of her conceptualization.

Lastly, I believe a key part of Hajo's growth is that she will find what kind of hero she wants to be. She already underwent the journey of going from "I want to be a hero because it's really cool and my brother is doing it" to finding something she genuinely wants to protect and fight for. However, it's still a pretty vague, childish endeavour without a clear vision of what comes after she's achieved this goal. The possibility of failing completely hasn't even crossed her mind, either. This will be a big aspect of how she will mature over the course of the roleplay; definitive goals, being a hero in practice and situations she hasn't mentally prepared for, and setbacks or even plain failure.

Abilities & Talents

Quirk Type
Emitter

Quirk Description
Vacuum (真空 Shinkū): Hajo's Quirk grants her the ability to create a localized vacuum anywhere in her vicinity.

Hajo's Quirk allows her to burn up her body's energy to create a vacuum-like effect that is capable of exerting a repellent force as well as sucking objects into it. The Quirk is easily recognized due to the spiraling, lavender-colored distortion in the air marking its area of effect. The Quirk can affect a considerable area, but becomes more arduous the further away from Hajo's body it is used. For this reason, Hajo tends towards using it within her reach.

Unlike a real, perfect vacuum, such as 13's Black Hole Quirk, Vacuum does not disintegrate matter that comes to close, making it much less lethal and more viable for various other uses. Though not quite identical, Vacuum emulates most of the effects of a real vacuum, being devoid of oxygen - which Hajo has used to snuff out flames - and being unable to have sound travel through it, meaning Hajo's perceptiveness is negatively affected by her Quirk. Furthermore, because Vacuum feeds off of Hajo's thermal energy, prolonged usage drops her body temperature considerably, much like a body would freeze in outer space after prolonged exposure

Other Talents & Attributes
• Overall Abilities: Hajo possesses great precision, flexibility, balance, and athleticism due to her time as a gymnast. Hajo also possesses the ability to keep her wits in most situations, as she rarely loses her positive demeanor, allowing her to maintain composure in dire situations. Due to Shinko playing video games with her often ever since she was little, Hajo has above-average hand-eye coordination, reactions, and a naturally playful and creative disposition towards problem-solving.
• Culinary Expertise: Hajo likes to cook, often imitading the beautifully created dishes she has become used to at home.

Trivia
• Hajo loves otters, and considered applying to U.A. High simply due to the fact their principal reminded her of one.
• Hajo's surname contains the kanji for "vacuum" and "night".
• The hiragana that make up Hajo's given name are homophonous with the Japanese reading for "undulating" or "wavelike".
• Hajo's given name came from her brother calling her おじょうちゃん (ojouchan, a call for little girls), which inspired her nickname. (はじょうちゃん Hajochan)

Personal Dossier

Name
Mutsuki, Kana

Age
15

Origin
Goshogawara, Aomori Prefecture, Japan

Physical Description
Kana is an unimposing presence. She stands just short of average, with the meager build of someone nourished on cheap food and scrap meals. Her sense of fashion is a flawless marriage between “punk” and “homeless,” complete with the high-necked, needlessly-belted boots and the I-can’t-believe-it’s-not-garbage leather jacket. The things she can control though, like her hair and hygiene, she keeps in line. It’s hard enough for her to make friends without smelling like someone who only occasionally has hot water.

She has been told, often and unkindly, that she resembles her mother. She inherited her mirror-bright eyes and severe countenance, but the mannerisms—the unbowed stature, the habitual brow-cocking and cracking of finger-bones—these were learned, and to the people affected by her mother's terrible crimes, they evoke chilling, uncanny memories.

Characterization
-Quiet
-Curt
-Altruistic
-Sincere
-Sympathetic
-Anxious
-Self-Deprecating
-Fatalistic

Personal History
Kana loved her mother.

She was a kind, gentle woman. She had sharp, severe eyes, she gave warm hugs, she spoke softly even when she was upset. The people in their neighborhood liked her, people at her work liked her; she went out of her way for strangers that she’d never see again, because it was the right thing to do. She taught Kana that good people put others before themselves, that sacrifice was the foundation of heroism.

She was eleven when she learned that her mother was not a hero.

The months after she disappeared were blurry. Her father was brought in for questioning so many times that they practically lived at the police station for weeks. Reporters dogged them at their house, at the store, they even came to Kana’s school before she was pulled out. The few times that Kana was able to watch TV, she saw their names on the news. They were talking about her mother, and they were saying terrible things, calling her names, telling lies. They said she was a villain.

They left Goshogawara in a panic. People had begun coming to their house, people who claimed her mother had hurt them, or someone they loved. They came during the day, sometimes they came at night; Kana would see them through her window, pacing in their driveway or coming up to their door. They wanted answers, but Kana didn’t understand the questions. They’d knock for hours. When she and her father finally left, their was graffiti on the house, and the mailbox was smashed over.

It didn’t matter where they went. The news was fresh, the names were publicized. For a while there was no true anonymity, only the brief silence of temporary homes, and the confused sense of humiliation that followed them like a bad odor. They wound up across the country, living in a seedy span of Kagoshima before they found respite, and it had been over a year by then.

Things were almost worse once everything had settled down. They were practically out of money, and ostracized by a community of strangers who wanted nothing to do with them. Kana’s father found work stevedoring in the port at night, and while it was enough to put food on the table, they lived meagerly.

Against her father’s insistence, Kana began experimenting with her Quirk again, as she had once done under the caring, cautious tutelage of her mother. It was a fearful thing, and painful, but it was also all she had left of her. In the dead of night, muted beneath the monolith groans of the ships moored in the nearby harbor, she would grit her teeth and let the aching burn of her Quirk flood through her. Mother had always told her not to be afraid of pain, but it was hard. It hurt. She kept on though, in secret, because she would have wanted her to, and even if honoring the would-be wishes of a villain seemed wrong, and guilty, Kana felt compelled. She wouldn’t deny the things her mother had done, but a part of her couldn’t let the kind memories go.

She made her desire to be a hero known, and her father fought tooth and nail to quell it. The reasons were plenty, and strong, but they were all things that Kana had already faced herself, and though they scared her, they didn’t scare her enough. When it became clear she wouldn’t be deterred, her father tried to get her to look elsewhere, perhaps overseas, where the family’s shame was unknown, and where it wouldn’t resurface again. Kana wouldn’t consider it. The shame was grave, and demoralizing, but it wasn’t what scared her either. She was what scared her.

Ishin Academy’s reputation was universally brutal, the students it accepted became heroes without exception, not villains. There she could be forged into something good, something people didn’t fear or revile, something she could be proud of.

Something the mother she remembered could be proud of.

Character Development & Conceptualization
Kana is a walking identity crisis, and an embodiment of the phrase “the sins of the father.” An inability to reconcile her mother’s gruesome villainy with the fond and gentle memories she has of her, has left Kana perpetually anxious about her own fate. The optimist in her is sure that she can make something good out of herself despite, but the pessimist is convinced that she’s doomed to follow in her mother's footsteps. Can she be a hero? Is it even right for her to try? In a world full of people trying to live up to the legacies of their parents, Kana is desperate to leave her's behind.

I wanted Kana’s struggle with heroism to be something she can’t avoid, something that’s constantly looking her in the face and asking her “is this really what you want?” So I baked it into her Quirk. “No Pain, No Gain” has and is still molding Kana’s perception of what it means to be a hero. To her, being a hero is all about sacrifice; the hero suffers so that others don’t, period. At the same time, she has to live with a Quirk that will eventually evolve into something horrific, something that would reward selfishness and sadism. Every time she activates it, she has to choose between taking the easy path to power, or the hard one. She has to choose to suffer for people who don’t want her, who hate her, even, and that’s not an easy choice to make on a hero’s constant and demanding schedule.

Excitedly, I don’t know where I want Kana to end up. Does she maintain her ideals of heroism, and put the well-being of others—even those who despise her—ahead of herself, or does she follow the path of her mother, and give in to her Quirk’s sadistic temptations of power? Ultimately this depends on her time at Ishin Academy with her fellow students, and their shared growth as would-be heroes.

Abilities & Talents

Quirk Type
Emitter

Quirk Description
Dubbed No Pain, No Gain, Kana’s Quirk, inherited from her mother, allows her to enhance her physical attributes in correlation with her own pain. Activation inflicts her with a dull yet constant ache, which gradually worsens with prolonged use, raising her strength, speed, and even durability to potentially drastic degrees as a fight carries on.

Kana’s minimal conditioning has limited the Quirk’s usefulness. As well, deactivating No Pain, No Gain “resets” her heightened abilities, but does not immediately alleviate her, making it extremely difficult to weave in and out of using.

Other Talents & Attributes
Minimalist: When you don’t know whether your next meal is coming today, or the day after tomorrow, you pick up some frugal sensibilities. Living off scraps in Kagoshima’s briny harbor has taught Kana how to pinch pennies like a professional, which could come in handy with Ishin Academy’s “your time, your dime” policies. She doesn’t indulge much, if ever, and may occasionally sneak leftovers home with her.

Scrappy: Expectedly, school was a nightmare for Kana, and while most of her peers steered clear of her, the braver kids—often ones with Quirks who saw her as an opportunity to play hero—steered right into her. She can play rough, and she can absolutely play unfair, and while she’s much better nowadays at turning the other cheek, there’s still a short, childish temper buried beneath those layers of anxiety.

Academically Lacking: A strong sense of determination and the gumption to study on weekends aren’t always enough. A combination of a spotty schooling schedule, a lack of funds for tutors, and just not really being all there up in the headspace, have rendered Kana a middling academic, especially compared to the scholarly elites at Ishin Academy.

Personal Dossier

Name
Kenzo Osamu

Age
15

Origin
Aomori, Aomori Prefecture, Japan

Physical Description
Osamu is 172cm tall (5’8”) and possesses a well-toned physique. Osamu makes a point of having his black hair cut short and made presentable, and would never be seen in anything short of the neatest, if unimaginative, clothing. Due to his generally stoic demeanour, Osamu maintains an intense expression on his face at almost all times, even if he doesn’t mean to.

Characterization
Stoic
Co-operative
Cautious
Polite
Dedicated
Driven
Prejudiced

Personal History
Osamu is the son of Miura Kenzo, a politician known for his conservative, nationalistic and nigh-bigoted beliefs. Their family has a history of military service, and Miura prides himself on being descended from someone who fought and died in the name of his country. As a child, Osamu didn’t pay much attention to his father’s politics. While he never opposed him, he never really took his fiery words to heart. Rather than seeking to follow in his father’s footsteps, he wanted to become a Hero like many young boys. One notion he did take from his father was a disdain for U.A. and many mainstream heroic institutions. Partly due to being a graduate of Ishin Academy, Miura was highly critical of the frivolousness of modern heroes, believing they should serve the public interest rather than compete for rankings. The youthful idealist in Osamu agreed, and he vowed to be a man that looked out for others rather than seeking personal gain.

As a young teenager, Osamu had a close knit group of friends. Every one of them entertained aspirations of heroism, but not all of them had much talent for it. Osamu, however, considered it his mission to try and help his fellows make the best of themselves, and always invited them to join him in learning martial arts. Miura was initially supportive of Osamu’s group, and even paid for lessons for those that could not afford it. However, when the group came to include two Zainichi Koreans, siblings named Joji and Jun, Miura became immediately hostile. He counseled Osamu to disassociate with them, spewing all sorts of hateful rhetoric. For the first time in his life, Osamu openly defied his father, refusing to cut ties with his new friends.

Osamu continued to visit his friends until one day when his wallet went missing. It happened at a time when he had been with the Zainichi siblings and a few others. When they were unable to find it, Osamu’s father was quick to suggest one of the siblings had stolen it. Osamu naturally refused to believe it, and defended him to his father’s face. Going behind Osamu’s back, Miura arranged for the police to investigate the sibling’s house, and found the wallet in Joji’s room. Osamu initially didn’t want to believe it, but after neither sibling had been prepared to speak with him since, and with his father constantly speaking bile into his ear, Osamu resigned himself to the situation. He grew alienated from his friends, and spent some time in relative isolation.

Eventually, Osamu got over himself, and resolved that whatever the case was, he still had a dream to live up to. While a great deal of his idealism had died of late, he still wanted to be a hero that would do right by somebody, if not everyone. He threw himself back into his martial arts and exercise, preparing for the day that he would make his debut at Ishin Academy in earnest.

Character Development & Conceptualization
After reading through the premise, I felt that this school could use at least one character that is in line with the spirit of the school. Osamu is based on a character I have made before, though heavily adapted to fit the setting. Obviously, the character could be described as ever so slightly racist, though hopefully not to a degree that people will find distasteful. I hope to express Osamu’s prejudices in a subtle fashion, rather than having him be a caricature that runs around shouting slurs. Naturally, I’m expecting to have his prejudices challenged in due time, though as in all things, it remains to be seen what the exact result of his experiences will entail.

In spite of his prejudices, Osamu is still intended to be a mostly good person. He will try to help others and breed a sense of camaraderie among his peers. This will be subject to change depending on the demeanour of those he finds himself around, but barring any overwhelming hostility, he will likely try to become something of a leader among those that will allow him to. In regards to those who aren’t fully or even partially Japanese, he will be inclined to politely maintain a distance from them until otherwise encouraged to overcome his aversion to them.

Abilities & Talents

Quirk Type
Emitter

Quirk Description
The quirk is named Rising Sun, and it entails absorbing solar energy and storing it in Osamu’s body until it needs to be used. Osamu can use it by ejecting it from his hands in a concentrated form, allowing him to, for example, create searing beams of solar power. These attacks naturally create intense light, and are harmful to look at directly. However, concentrated attacks tend to drain Osamu’s reserves quite quickly, and the energy charges fairly slowly even in direct sunlight, hence Osamu tends to favour smaller, less flashy uses of his power.

One crippling disadvantage to his power is the fact that he cannot recharge it at night or in any location where the sun’s rays cannot reach him. While energy can be stored and kept until a time where he needs it, it will be quickly drained and unable to replenish if he were to use it liberally under those circumstances.

Other Talents & Attributes
Trained Martial Artist: Ever since he was young, Osamu wanted to learn martial arts in order to be better as a Hero. Encouraged by his father, Osamu spent much time over his formative years learning Judo. He is not only skilled in said martial art, but has also reaped the benefits of the regular exercise associated with it.

Amateur Tactician: Learning of his families’ military history from his father, Osamu became interested in military tactics after reading more about it. While you probably wouldn’t want to put him in charge of a military unit just yet, you might find he’ll come up with an inspired idea from time to time.

Personal Dossier

Name
桜見 未来
Sakurami Asuka

Age
15

Origin
Nikko, Tochigi Prefecture

Physical Description
Standing at an average height and weight of a typical girl her age, Asuka is a cute girl with fair skin and long, blue-and-gold hair. Her big, blue eyes with small, pink crosses are probably her most noticeable feature, her heart shaped face giving her a rather innocent look. She has a fairly slim body type with not much to write home about, though she seems content with her blossoming body. She often wears a large, pink flower with a ribbon on the side of her head. Her possessions and clothing are used to heighten her cuteness, her image well kept and often flaunting what she has.

Characterization
A seemingly friendly and optimistic young woman, Asuka is always the first to volunteer her assistance when asked. She wants to be the person you'd come to with every problem and will do everything she can to help. Her bubbly optimism is said to be either charming or outright annoying, but it varies from person to person. Not that she cares, of course, because her bright demeanor is enough to keep her going through the day. Besides, she's just a happy-go-lucky teenage girl, it's not like she's a scary person or anything. Her boundless energy is matched only by her charm, her desire to get to know people bordering on obsessive--but that's just how she is! The more friends she makes, the better!

Appearances are everything to Asuka, and even if it comes off as insincere, she does whatever it takes to uphold the carefully crafted persona she has taken on. In some ways, she sees no problem with it; people like friendliness. She has absolutely nothing to lose from being polite and cheerful, so she may as well do her best anyway. Not once has she ever uttered a complaint after volunteering her help, either, so it's easy to take for granted. That said, there are times when that same smiling face openly speaks of her disdain or outright insulting people without batting an eyelash. It can be jarring the first time it's seen, and the apologetic followup could be convincing enough to think it's a one-time slip up. Even so, any attempts at delving into it are met with either tearful eyes or with a harsh response, a wall that refuses to break down erected as she insists on moving on.

Personal History
The Sakurami family is a typical one: there is the supportive Kofuku (the doting father), hardworking Wakae (the loving mother), and their three daughters: the intelligent Kowaka (the eldest daughter), the talented Emiwa (the youngest daughter), and Asuka. Growing up as the middle child while her sisters were extraordinary came as a challenge: Kowaka's accelerated learning has led her to become one of the youngest doctors in the country, while Emiwa has made a name for herself in the music world with the violin. The manifestation of her Quirk led to her parents believing that Asuka would be inclined to the medical field as well, and as such often pushed her gently to follow in her sister's footsteps. That said, she found herself playing second fiddle to both her sisters, having to help both of them out whenever asked.

Once she hit middle school, Asuka was tired of constantly being overshadowed and wanted nothing more than to strike out on her own. Despite this, she found herself average at most things, even if she did pick things up quickly. She had hoped that working on her Quirk would help, but even that wasn't nearly as good as her sister's. The only ray of hope came when she accompanied Kowaka to her job after the hospital had suffered some damage. To her surprise, she had been asked to help, and despite feeling like she didn't do much in comparison, she did find herself earning some genuine praise from helping. Even if she had been thanked as Kowaka's younger sister, it felt liberating to be recognized for her efforts.

After that, Asuka had made up her mind: she was going to become a Hero. Of course, her parents expressed concern that the idea wasn't entirely thought through, but if it meant being recognized for her own merits, then Asuka would do whatever it took. She began putting more effort on her appearance, keeping herself as approachable as possible, making herself more cheerful and as charismatic as she could. She began to refine her Quirk, gluing herself to her sister's medical books in an effort to better understand. This would finally be her time to shine.

Character Development & Conceptualization
In any other story, Sakurami would be that one background character who occasionally jumps onto her equally unnoticeable classmate before the scene changes to the main character. This is essentially her waking up and wanting to break out of that 'role' and try to be more notable; she's already the background character in her own life, and becoming a hero would (in her eyes) subvert that. Part of that process is also doing anything she can to stand out and get approval, her primary goal being to become as charismatic as possible to gain the approval of her peers. I think the irony in that is that she probably won't realize that her pushiness won't exactly endear her nor will being in a class with like-minded heroes-in-training make her stand out the way she wants to, but at the very least seeing her adapt to that would be fun.

Ultimately, the point of the character is a typical "be yourself" with a dash of a look into the mind of someone wanting to step out on their own and underestimating both the work of a hero and themselves. Actually becoming someone noteworthy and properly handling the world of heroes is the end game for Asuka, as well as seeing the interactions and reactions from her fellow classmates. I'm hoping that bouncing off other characters and playing a support role will be fun.

Abilities & Talents

Quirk Type
Emitter

Quirk Description
First Aid
I can fix it!

Asuka's Quirk has manifested in a powerful regenerative quality which works with her cells cloning themselves rapidly to fix things. Her injuries heal supernaturally quickly, with minor cuts healing up in seconds. This also comes with the ability to apply that regenerative effect to others using special band-aids that she creates. The small, pink crosses in her eyes are a visual indication on whether or not her quirk is active; once she's completely exhausted her Quirk, the crosses disappear.

The band-aids' primary usage is for healing wounds. The size of the band-aid and time of healing correlates to the extent of the injury and whether or not the target wishes to have their pain alleviated: wounds can heal slowly and more effectively with very little pain and no fatigue, or alternatively, they can heal quicker with zero pain relief and minor fatigue. Her limit manifests as her target's injuries are taken on herself, her natural healing slowing down immensely as she takes on their wounds. She can apply her band-aids on herself, but their effect isn't nearly as effective and takes much more time. Her healing is also ultimately dictated by her own knowledge as she has to understand how it works to properly heal (for example, she can heal broken bones, but has trouble with internal wounds).

Asuka's band-aids can also be applied to inanimate objects to repair them as well. Most need bigger and multiple band-aids, though it isn't required to cover every single crack or broken part. The repairs are much quicker if every part is returned, otherwise it can take a while to repair broken objects due to her inexperience. At the moment, she can repair small objects and has patched up a wall once or twice, but she hopes to work on this aspect of hers in the future to be more effective when rescuing people and helping with rebuilding destroyed areas.

*this quirk cannot cure a disease or purge a toxin, nor does it work on plants

Other Talents & Attributes
I Know The Human Body Inside And Out. Mostly.
Once she got a hang of her quirk, she studied under her sister and took notes. As her healing is dependent on her own knowledge, it became a necessity to educate herself as much as possible. She carries a medical book with her for more complicated wounds.

Of Course I Remember
An excellent memory is key to utilizing the best of her ability without constantly referring to a textbook. That said, it helps to remember the names and faces of people, too. The more she knows, the more she can get people to remember her, right?

Watch Out, I Know Kung Fu!
Having to hold her own is a necessity in the life of a hero. Watching old kung fu movies helped spark the idea, too!

Yeah, I Play A Little...
Having constantly played piano accompaniment for Emiwa, Asuka had to learn to be decent at both it and singing. She has very little passion for her musical talent, as they are a constant reminder of her playing second fiddle to her younger sister.
