"The title of Johto League Champion is already within my reach!"

Name:
Cho Toyama

Nicknames:
...

Age:
23

Gender:
Female

Appearance:
Standing at 5'8, Cho is rather slim for her age; she doesn't seem to pack on any weight no matter what she eats. Her legs are rather long and toned from years of running and climbing. She has a couple of scars that run over her body from some of her nastiest falls, the most prominent being the one that run diagonally over her left knee and around her thigh. Her eyes are honey-colored and glow with a rather friendly warmth, and her hair is very, very dark brown. She loves wearing waistcoats, stockings, skirts, and sweaters, along with sweatpants and tank-tops.

Personality:
Cho is a spunky, active young woman. There's hardly a time in which she remains still for long enough, and often goes on her own "adventures", whether they be with friends or on her own. These adventures haven't spanned much further than Cherrygrove, though Cho always seems to find herself in trouble, no matter the distance. Hot-tempered and sharp-tongued, she finds it difficult to stay quiet, especially when she sees something she considers unjust, unfair, or cruel. She's known to playfully bicker with her friends and is an avid lover of jokes and pranks.

Even though she might be seen as overly-ambitious or a troublemaker, Cho has a good heart. No doubt will she stand up for what's right and confront what's wrong, even if that puts her well-being at risk. She has also been known to protect her friends, no matter how much trouble she may get in afterwards.

Short Biography:
Cho was born in New Bark Town during a very cold winter morning. She was the first child of the newly wedded Toyamas, and when she arrived, she was immediately pampered and spoiled to no end. Her early life was spent hovering about New Bark Town and making friends with the locals and nearby Pokemon. When she was six, her little brother came into the picture, and that was when everything changed. Much like they had done with her, her parents spoiled little Saito. Having felt like she was suddenly cast to the side, she decided that she would tend to her own curiosities and intrigue for adventure. Much to her parents' concern, she began to roam the woods, sometimes becoming lost, but finding her way back home after a few hours of searching.

When she was eleven years old, Cho told her parents that she wished to partake in the Johto League. They were very much against the idea and forbid her to leave on such an adventure. Out of frustration, she rushed into the forest and kept running deeper and deeper for a long while. It was then that Cho realized that she had become really, really lost; it had been about to turn dark and after four hours of searching for a way back, she encountered no sign of nearing home or even Cherrygrove. She huddled down in a spot and began to cry-- and it was just her luck for a small Taillow to hear her sobs. The small bird Pokemon guided her back to New Bark Town at long last, though much to her surprise, the bird kept visiting her after that-- even when she had been punished for her foolish behavior.

Years passed and Kite and Cho continued to hold adventures of their own. The Taillow would keep an eye out for danger or guide her back onto the right path when she was lost. Kite would even deliver parcels to her friends when she was too lazy to leave home. Yet, as Cho grew older, she found New Bark Town growing smaller and smaller. Eventually, it would be far too tiny to contain her sense of adventure.

On her twenty-first birthday, Saito gifted her a wonderful present: a very small, soft, and fluffy Shinx cub. The poor thing had been left abandoned on the side of the road a few days back, and he thought the Shinx was a proper gift for his sister. The Shinx grew very close to Cho, as close as Kite had done with her. The three of them were inseparable, and eventually, Kite and Pip further fueled her desire to leave home. Now old enough to make her decisions, twenty-three-year-old Cho told her parents she would be departing on a journey to become champion, much to their disappointment. She plans to make them proud by defeating all eight of the region's gym leaders and claiming her rightful place as the Johto League Champion.

Pokemon:

Reason for Traveling with Main Group:
To challenge the Johto League and become champion.

Relationships:
Sakura Toyama- Cho's mother and a long-time Pokemon breeder.
Kenji Toyama- Cho's father and a long-time Pokemon breeder.
Saito Toyama- Cho's little brother by six years. Plans to follow the family tradition and become a Pokemon breeder.

Other:

"The dreams that I carry are no longer just my own."

Name: Dante DiAngelo

Nicknames: N/A

Age: 20

Gender: Male

Appearance: Dante stands at exactly 6'0 and curses the Pokemon gods for stopping it there. If anyone looked at him they'd assume that he was just skin and bones, but he has a toned body from the years that he's played sports. He has crystal blue eyes and sky blue hair to match. The men in his family have a genetic mutation where the roots of their blue hair turn black once they hit puberty. His favorite thing to wear is a v-cut turtleneck and he would rarely be seen without one. Another item that never leaves his side is his younger brother's black hat with a white back and red under rim. On his back you'll find the standard trainer backpack where he keeps all his essentials in this apparent blackhole of a bag.

Personality: Growing up Dante was always seen as a jokester. Someone that could always make the people around him smile. He never had a problem making friends and could never tell if he was drawn to them or if it had been the other way around. If you asked him he'd tell you that he was never the ambitious type, but that wasn't true. After the death of his brother there was an obvious change in him. He kept up the facade of the Dante they all knew, but there was a darkness growing him.

Short Biography: Dante was born and raised in New Bark Town and for a time he thought it would be all he'd ever know. Like any kid in this world Dante had a love of Pokemon and secretly wished to be the greatest trainer in the world or at least the region. He wanted to be realistic at least. His father was a Pokemon trainer and taught Dante everything he knows. His dream was within reach and all he had to do was take it. But for some reason he couldn't. When the day came for him to see the Professor and receive his first Pokemon his fear overtook him. He had been preparing and training for this moment, but he couldn't get the thought of failing on his journey out of his head. He never left his room that day.

His father never said it, but Dante knew he was disappointed in him. He never yelled at him or tried to force him to see the Professor, but that made him worse. He felt like his father had given up on him. His brother, Tai, was born two years later and Dante had finally put the dreams of his past behind him. He looked forward to the future with his growing family even if he didn't know what his role in life would be. Three years later their father walked out on them and never returned. His mother would never tell him why or what happened and after a while he stopped bugging her about it.

A month or two after his dad left, his mother got him and his brother a silver-furred Poochyena pup. It was so small, but it had heart. It howled as soon as it saw them and his brother affectionately named him Howler. Of course he could barely pronounce it at the time so it came out as Hower. But it was during that moment that Dante saw the same spark he used to have in his brother's eyes. He realized it was his brother, not him that was meant to be a great trainer. From that moment on he decided to teach his brother the same things his brother taught him. As the years passed his brother surpassed his expectations. It was as if he fully understood the true nature of Pokemon training despite being so young. When Tai turned 8 years old he caught the attention of the Professor and was chosen to join the ten year olds in selecting their Pokemon.

Little did he know that would be the last time he'd see his little brother alive. A month into his journey he was engaged by a gang and was killed while protecting his friends. Dante's world was shattered and his mother's heart was broken. His mother sent word to their father so that he could at least return for the funeral, but they never got a response. Dante hated him even more for it. The night after the funeral he returned to the cemetery to talk to his brother, but as he did so a Gastly appeared from the ground beside him and just hovered there watching him. He wasn't foolish enough to believe the Gastly was his brother returned to him, but a part of him hoped he was.

When Dante started walking home he noticed the Gastly was following him and even tried to hide every time he turned to look at it. He realized he probably wasn't going to get rid of it and named it Spirit. When he returned home he was met by Howler with Tai's hat in his mouth. He took it out and stared at it for a moment before looking at the two Pokemon in front of him. "You two in the mood for a journey?"

Pokemon:

Reason for Traveling with Main Group: Dante wants to overcome his initial fear and pursue his younger brother's dream of being the Pokemon Champion. He also wants to find the truth behind these gangs and put an end to them. And if he finds his father along the way he's punching him in the face.

Relationships:
  • Cassandra DiAngelo: Dante's mother who deserves the world. He hopes to be able to give it to her after this journey.

  • Nicola DiAngelo: A bastard and Dante's number #2 enemy behind whoever murdered his brother. Dante grew up idolizing him but those feelings disappeared once he abandoned his family.

  • Tai DiAngelo: Dante's younger brother whose life and future was stolen from him. An angel on Earth.

DANTE'S INFERNOS

// Friend // Acquaintance // Frenemy // Rival // Enemy // Crush //

  • Katalya Akiyama:
Kat? I'd say she's the closest thing I have to a best friend. Not that I'd tell her that, but for as long as I can remember she's always been there for me. We both hate our dads and I guess that made our friendship stronger. She's someone I can count on and will always pick to have on my team.
  • Cho Toyama:
Cho is the perfect rival. She's someone that you know could push you. Not a rival you constantly surpass from day one. Kat introduced us and I guess we've been friends ever since, but I can't let our friendship get in the way of our goal. Also Pip is adorable.
  • Flynn Arata:
Flynn is my partner in crime. The Non-Bonnie to my Clyde. They were younger than me, but they were always able to keep up. Unless I was with Kat or Tai there wasn't a time you wouldn't see us together. That was until they left. They recently returned, but we haven't had the chance to reconnect.
  • Naoko Jin:
Nao is funny. I think I laugh just as much as she does when she's around. She was a big help when my dad left us. Tai loved her. She was like a big sister to him. She used to babysit him and he was always fascinated with Fritz. He loved to watch her tinker away. The little wheels in his mind turning just like the ones in her machines. Spirit seems to like her. Probably because she's really cute. Uh, I mean, what was the question?
  • Ezekiel Miyamoto:
Kiel's another resident jokester of our here town. He lived here when we were younger. We were always joking around with Nao and Flynn. One day he went on a trip and that trip turned into a very extended stay. He had a little brother that was around Tai's age, but he wasn't with him when he came back a few months ago. I've seen him around town and I have a feeling we unfortunately have more in common than we originally had.
  • Bartholomew Mulkaper:
My dad... my dad was a regular at the Apotheberry. As a trainer you could never get enough berries. They have their uses. After we left Tai and I kept up business so I always talked to Barry whenever I came in, but we weren't really close.
  • Kenneth Hardroot:
I can't say that I really know Kenny. I know that he's friends with Nao and she sometimes goes to his family's farm. But for some reason I get the feeling that he avoids me.
  • Sam Quinn:
Short explanation of reasons behind the classification.
  • Zola Amari:
Short explanation of reasons behind the classification.
  • Judas Altos:
Short explanation of reasons behind the classification.

Other:

"A gift that hurts someone else is no present to me."

Name: Bartholomew Mulkaper

Nicknames: Barry

Age: 22

Gender: Male

Appearance: Barry has a lanky 6'1" build, cloaked in his local winter robes from Blackthorn. Despite his height, his smooth complexion sometimes results in him being mistaken for younger than he really is. In all weather conditions, Barry is always seen wearing his trusty sandals.

Personality: Barry is a relaxed and steady-as-a-Golem countrysider, raised in a large family of agriculturalists. He has a fixed loyalty to those around him—cultivated by his family during his upbringing—but has never had to face the world without their guidance and support.

Short Biography: Barry spent his childhood in New Bark, aiding his parents in their apricot and berry pharmacy in his free time. At the age of twelve, his family moved to Blackthorn to cultivate Ice Berries and open up a new store, Apotheberry. With the help of their team of Shuckle, the family sold medicine to the locals and shipped their products across Johto. However, last winter a terrible blizzard swept away their year's crop—along with half of their Shuckle—and while the Ice Berry seeds they had planted could sustain frigid temperatures indefinitely, their next harvest wouldn't be for another nine months. Barry had long-since heard the rumors of a mysterious blue Shuckle that could produce higher quality medicine than any of its counterparts, and realized that he would have to find and catch it if he wanted to save his family from debt. Armed with one of the family Shuckle and his trusty partner Pokemon, the winter guardian Delibird, he set out to New Bark to meet up with old friends about to embark on an adventure of their own.

Pokemon:

Reason for Traveling with Main Group: Barry wants to travel with a team exploring the region to search for the rumored blue Shuckle. To Barry, who better to travel with than childhood friends?

Relationships: Parents, extended family

Other: Barry picked up a knack for medicine while working for the family pharmacy and can identify both useful and dangerous plants.

"Mmm, fine...but you owe me big time~"

Name: Katalya Akiyama

Nickname(s): Kat.

Age: 21

Gender: Female

Appearance: Katalya is slightly above average in height, standing at 5’5”, and weighs about 175lbs. Her light gray hair falls to about her collarbone, being just long enough for her to keep it up in a ponytail or do other small cute things with it, if she wanted - though it is very rare that she does. Her eyes appear to be a dark, watery teal, and are often very watchful of small details. She general keeps a rather neutral expression, but her friends can quickly change that.

Her wardrobe usually consist of duller colors - but you never know what fashion piece she’ll add to her outfit next, being that she’s often looking for new designs - though she usually tests these on her friends before herself.

Personality: When it comes to personality, Katalya is a rather reserved person. She prefers to watch a situation rather than attribute to the chaos, and is generally rather good at coming up with plans while others are discussing out loud.

However, that demeanor totally changes when she’s engaged with her friends. To them, she’s a playful, sarcastic, fun-poking companion who loves to make them smile, cry, and blush - even if she’s rather susceptible to that last one herself.

She’s quite slow to trust others, which makes her bond with her friends all the more special.

Short Biography: Kat lived a pretty simple life throughout her younger years up until she was almost twenty. She lived with her mother in a modest home in New Bark Town for all her life, making a few friends along the way. Her father was never around - in fact, she’s only seen him a handful of times. Something she still doesn’t understand and kinda resents.

In the later years of her teen life, misfortune fell upon the household when her mother began to fall ill. Katalya did her best to take care of her mother in any way possible, but her efforts were proven fruitless when she eventually became completely bedridden. Soon after she was diagnosed with a terminal illness. Yet, still her father did not come to visit. He sent money - but what good was that?? They needed him.

For almost a year Kat stayed by her mother’s bedside, fetching whatever she wanted even at the tiniest signs of discomfort. She often tried to comfort her by smothering her in her fashion creations - little costumes she made her Pokémon wear, specially-made scarfs, and other things. However, after a time, her mother beckoned her over to the bed. She wanted her daughter to leave her side. But why?

Of course, Kat refused - but her mother was persistent. She implored her daughter to travel the region - to follow her own desires and dreams. She knew how badly little Kat had always wanted to travel and discover new Pokémon to study and tailor her creations after.

After weeks of discourse, Kat reluctantly agreed to follow her mother’s wishes - which she said would make her very happy. But, she promised to have a letter for her every time her mother’s Bisharp came to visit. She didn’t like leaving her mother’s side, but if it would make her happy...she could understand that.

Pokemon:

Reason for Traveling with Main Group: Katalya travels the region with her friends in order to see new Pokémon - hoping to study and perhaps catch some, in order to gain new inspirations for her various fashion creations. Whether they be for people, Pokémon, or something other - she’s always intrigued when it comes to fun, cool, and cutesy designs.

Relationships:

Other:
  • Katalya’s speech color is C1CDCD.
  • Her Sneasel, Lily, was not caught by Katalya, but was instead caught by her mother and gifted to her when she was 16.
  • Being a mutual friend between the two, Cho Toyama and Dante DiAngelo met through Kat - something she’s very glad for.

☆═━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━═☆
Naoko Jin
18 | Female | "Nao"

... (☞゚∀゚)☞
☆═━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━═☆

Reason for Traveling with Main Group
To explore each town's latest and greatest innovations, and get the chance to work on cutting edge technology. In particular, she wants to improve upon the prostheses she and Clinker use.

Family
Mitsumi Jin
Nao's worrywart mother; works as a freelance designer

Takahiro Jin
Nao's dad, works as a contact engineer. Tries not too coddle Nao too much but fails spectacularly at it.

Other
Has a heavy backpack she and Clinker take turns carrying. It has her laptop, toolbox, and all supplies she needs for cleaning and maintaining their prostheses.

Color code is #fec5e5

Team
Appearance
━━━━━━━━═☆
Standing at a whopping five foot nothing, Nao likes to joke that she's lacking an arm and a foot. Even so, she has an athletic figure that she doesn't mind flaunting and proudly shows off her prosthetic every chance she gets. It's a labor of love, after all! As an exercise in patience, she has been growing her hair for years, curious to see how long it would take before she gets completely bored of it. Currently, it reaches well past her hips and she has taken to putting up in a braid to keep it out of the way.

Nao prefers dressing for comfort: yoga pants and tights and leggings, plus any top that'll make the ensemble cute. She has a trusty pair of white (and slowly greying) sneakers that she wears with everything.

Personality
━━━━━━━━═☆
On the surface she is a starry-eyed romantic, charming and contagious in her easy laughter and unabashed sense of fun. Befriending people and Pokémon come naturally, in part because of her candor; there is no suspecting her motives as she bares her thoughts and feelings like an open book. On the flip side, lying is nearly impossible for her. In her many previous attempts, she has either blurted out the truth after a while or ended up with a super elaborate and convoluted story that no sane person would ever believe.

It's almost hard to believe that beneath her brand of silliness and carefreeness lies a creative and inquisitive mind, keen on learning. Nao possesses bravado in abundance, and in her voracious desire to learn and explore, she tends to proactively chase new experiences with almost reckless abandon. She figures that if anything goes wrong, she can just think her way out of it.

Short Biography
━━━━━━━━═☆
Although born in Jubilife City in Sinnoh, Nao's parents relocated to the more rural New Bark Town to raise her away from the hustle and bustle of the sprawling city. Her father gave up his esteemed position as lead engineer in the Pokétch Company and opened up a local business, often working for the lab and nearby Pokémon Centers. Growing up, Nao picked up on her dad's passion for tinkering and mechanics and has worked on countless projects and contraptions since, alongside her best friend and partner, Fritz the Porygon.

When she was ten, a fateful trip to the National Park changed her life. Her parents had taken her there to participate in the Bug-Catching contest. Ever the inquisitive soul, Nao wandered deep in the woods, wondering what rare bug-type could be found there. She got her answer pretty quickly, after accidentally stumbling across a sleeping Scyther's den.

Nao had frightened the Scyther awake, and in its alarm, it had blindly lashed out at her and caught her arm. She doesn't remember much beyond the searing pain that knocked her unconscious within seconds. It was unlike anything she'd ever felt, and in the years to come, she would realize that it would raise her threshold for pain considerably. In any case, she must have screamed because someone found her before she'd lost too much blood. Her parents said she was in the hospital for nearly a week.

Waking up with a strange, indescribable sense of loss is one thing she did remember. It took her a while to process. At first, there was a lot of confusion when her attempts to rub her eyes with her hand amounted to nothing. And even more when she realized she couldn't clench her fist, as she tended to do when she was anxious. But once realization did hit—after the bandages came off and she finally got to see what was taken from her—Nao found she was able to easily accept and adapt to her new reality. It had been scarier not knowing.

Getting used to a missing limb was difficult, but once she received her first prosthesis, Nao thrived in the new challenges that awaited her. She relearned everything with her non-dominant left hand and was particularly fascinated with tinkering with her new arm.

Aside from the sudden overprotectiveness and coddling from her parents—and many of her friends and neighbors—Nao found her life didn't change as drastically as she would have thought. She spent the years as she would have with both limbs, adventuring with friends and tinkering and inventing with her partner. She even met her soulmate—a Golett abandoned because of a birth defect; one with a missing limb like hers—not too long ago.

It wasn't until she turned eighteen that she managed to persuade her parents to let her travel, and they only relented because she would be among friends.

"Do you ever wish things were... different...?"

Name:
Flynn Arata

Age:
18

Gender:
Non-binary

Appearance:
Clear skin, tall and slim, with a boyish face and long hair, Flynn has done a lot of growing up since the last time whey were in New Bark Town. As a child they were small, messy hair always cut short and more frequently than not they were streaked with dirt as they played with their group of friends. There was always a smile on their face. That smile is rarely seen nowadays. Their bright eyes, though somewhat dimmed over the years, is the most familiar thing about them.

Flynn most often dresses in a furred traveling cloak. Underneath it, quality clothes that cling to their skin, betraying an elegant, if somewhat boxy figure. They wear ribbons in their hair as a force of habit, but often remove them throughout the day.

Personality:
Reserved, but surprisingly stubborn. Flynn spent most of their life obeying their grandmother's orders, but they ran away hoping to change that aspect of themself. They are unfailingly polite even through their stubbornness, and can border on being passive aggressive when arguing, but unless pushed to the edge Flynn won't cause a scene. Often feels bitter but tries not to let it show on their face. Though they often fail, Flynn does try and come off friendlier and more helpful than they actually feel. Tends to over think things.

Short Biography:
Flynn was a happy child, spending the first ten years of their life in New Bark Town, growing up amongst other children and Pokemon alike. Their raw joy for life and Pokemon was unrivaled. Looking back, Flynn would say they were the best years of their young life.

At eleven years old, the Arata family moved to their ancestral home of Ecruteak after Flynn's father became too ill to support them in New Bark. Flynn had come from a long line of shrine maidens and dancers, commonly known as "Kimono Girls," on their mother's side. Unbeknownst to many outside of Ecruteak, it was a harsh lifestyle. Training day and night, both the mind and the body. Posture, fluid movements, even making sure minute turns of the head were polite and beautiful. Dancing until their feet were bruised from the effort. Keeping their bodies ready for performances, wrapping themselves tight in elegant silken robes. All for the sake of trying to entice Ho-Oh, the legendary Pokemon, to return to it's tower.

Flynn's father had become smitten with their mother and whisked them away from that life... but in the light of his failing health, the family had little choice than to move back to Ecruteak and into their family's large estate. From their, Flynn's grandmother took them away for kimono training. They had a lot to catch up on after all.

It was horrible, miserable, all of Flynn's days consisted of dance dance dance and worship worship worship, all for some Pokemon they had never seen and frankly, was starting to doubt existed. Everything was ingrained into their brain, and although they made a wonderful dancer, the one fault they had was that they were never quite able to appear happy while dancing, only neutral at best.

At sixteen, Flynn was given a Pokemon. The past five years Flynn had barely even seen a Pokemon, but now apparently they were a good enough dancer that they could begin training with one. It was an Oddish. Said to evolve into the beautiful Bellossom, the perfect dancing partner. Needless to say, Flynn didn't want anything to do with it. The Oddish tried very hard to bond with her trainer, but Flynn had closed themselves off a while ago. Sure, they did grow closer over the next too years, but one couldn't really call them true partners. Flynn picked and ripped the Oddish's leaves whenever they were stressed or anxious, which was most of the time.

The breaking point came just after Flynn's eighteenth birthday while training with the other dancers for an annual ceremony. Oddish, who'd eventually been given the name Iris, was twirling in the studio with a few of the other Pokemon. It tripped over it's own feet and crashed into another Pokemon, which fell into another, and so on, until the lead dancer toppled over and twisted her ankle pretty badly. There was a lot of yelling, anger and blame being thrown about. Worries about the ceremony. The next best dancer was Flynn, but many protested them taking up the lead due to their Pokemon being the cause of the accident. Tears were shed by some, vicious words shared from others, until finally Flynn ran back to their family's estate, packed a single tote bag and ran from the city.

It's time to take control of my own life, Flynn thought. The headed South, unknowingly heading toward New Bark. A few days after leaving, Flynn was surprised to see Iris running after them. The Pokemon actually looked happy to see them, beat up a bit but happy all the same. It had followed after Flynn and was looking for them all that time. Honestly, it broke Flynn's heart - they felt something other than indifference for a Pokemon for the first time in many years. They cradled the Oddish and continued on, eventually arriving in New Bark just as their old group of friends was gathering to travel the region.

Reason for Traveling with Main Group:
Flynn wants to fall in love with Pokemon again. They want to be free to see the world and try and connect with the person they used to be. And, deep down, they want to know if all of their training was for nothing, if Ho-Oh and the other Legendary Pokemon were real and if they were, did humans even matter to them. They need a purpose, and feel compelled to find one.

Pokemon:

Relationships:
  • Katalya Akiyama
    • A close childhood friend. They often found comfort with one another when illness affected their family. Confided a lot in each other. Kat is the nearest thing to a best friend that Flynn has, especially now.
  • Dante DiAngelo
    • A close childhood friend. They were each other's partner in crime. Nearly inseparable until Flynn moved away. Understandably, they have grown a bit apart since then. Still, Flynn feels comfortable talking to him.
  • Cho Toyama
    • A bit older than Flynn, but someone she knew nonetheless as a kid. Flynn thinks they haven't changed much since childhood, but finds their attitude commendable.
  • Bartholomew Mulkaper
    • As a child, Flynn thought Barry to be a very boring person. Now, they very much appreciate Barry's calm personality. Curious about his goal.
  • Naoko Jin
    • Exactly the type that a young mind would imagine had "cooties." Flynn was surprised to see Nao's prosthetic and may be more sympathetic towards her because of it, whether Nao appreciates it or not.
  • Sam Quinn
    • Not very close, but still, Flynn feels some kind of weird kinship with him. Sometimes they find him annoying, sometimes endearing, and sometimes even admirable. Very confused about him.
  • Kenny Hardroot
    • Flynn recalls playing with them a lot as a kid, but those days seem far away. Now, Kenny's pushy personality irks them - not that Flynn would let that be known in public.
  • Zola Amari
    • They were never very close, and now as adults Flynn keeps her at arm's length. Something about her rubs Flynn to wrong way. It's not that Flynn doesn't like her, but... it might take a while to warm up to her.
  • Ezekiel Miyamoto
    • They say you either love Kiel or hate him. Flynn's feelings lie more toward the hate side. Now that isn't to say they actually do hate Kiel, but since they can't get a read on him at all past his obnoxious surface personality, it's safe to say that they aren't very close.
  • Judas Alto
    • No prior relationship.

Other:
- Color is #DC143C
- Has a travel bag of random mismatched clothes, including their dance outfit which happened to already be in the bag.
- Absolutely no money or items to start with, didn't really think things through.
- More interested in Legendary Pokemon than they want to be. Initially fueled by bitterness, they are genuinely curious about them.

"Hmm, what's this now? Why the long face? You aren't a Ponyta, you know!"

Name: Ezekiel Miyamoto

Nicknames: Ez, Kiel

Age: 22

Gender: Male

Appearance: Few can pin Kiel as a Johto native, and the reasons why are apparent. He inherited a lot from his mother; her Kalosian facial features, the lime hue of her eyes, and her signature blonde hair. As such, until he opens his mouth and speaks fluent Johtonese with no trace of a Kalosian accent, many tend to assume he's a tourist. Once or twice, he's even been mistaken for a famous actor from Lumiose City. Most likely due to the way he carries himself; as if he was important, an actor on a stage, and the whole world was watching.

Perhaps in part for that very reason, Kiel likes to look good. He keeps himself well-groomed at all times and dons designer clothing whenever possible, along with matching jewelry, of course. Rings, earrings, necklaces; on a day when he feels particularly fancy, you can find him wearing it all. He always has sunglasses on his person, even if you can't seem them. They're there, somewhere, and he can whip them out at a moment's notice if the situation calls for it. The same can be said for his portable comb, made of the tusk of a Copperajah - a fact he stopped advertising once owning items made with it became illegal.

When it comes to height, Kiel has a surprising amount of it, standing at an above average 6'3''. He has long legs, which make him come across even taller - lanky, some say. It does make his confident stride that much more eye-catching though, for better or for worse. And while he hasn't done enough physical labour or weight lifting to earn a muscled physique, he does have strong legs - almost as if he's accustomed to running.

Personality: Kiel is one of those people who split the opinions of all that bear them witness. Some admire his carefree vigor and endless positivity, others find his shameless flirting and devil-may-care approach towards adversity obnoxious at best, offensive at worst. He's unapologetic and brazen, never hesitating to speak his mind - or others' mind, if he finds them having trouble voicing their thoughts. He loves to talk and he loves to joke, even when it would be best not to. Those in the know call it a coping mechanism; others might mistake it for lack of empathy. Kiel lacks many things in truth, but empathy is not among them.

The ones that do find themselves liking Kiel call him friendly - those that do not, superficial. He's both. Exchange a few pleasantries with him, and he's ready to treat you like his best friend. Favours and friendly gestures will be showered upon you in abundance, and if you do not explicitly forbid it, so will physical displays of affection. Come what may, he'll be there to pick you up, both in the figurative sense and literal. He's difficult to make enemies with too, as insults and dismissals don't seem to deter him - and he's yet to be seen lose his cool.

However, if you ever try to have a conversation beyond pleasantries and banter, you'll quickly find that Kiel is not quite as open as you thought. When it comes to genuine feelings and problems, he doesn't ask and he doesn't answer. You can keep your demons, and he will keep his. Those are the terms of his friendship. Infringe upon them severely enough, and he is as quick to drop your friendship as he was to announce it. It's better that way - you wouldn't like what you find behind the smiles, anyway.

Short Biography: Considering Kiel was born to a family with close ties to Johto's largest and most notorious criminal organization, his childhood was relatively normal. He spent the first five years of his life in Goldenrod, none the wiser of what his father did for work. All he knew was that he was loved and cared for, and whatever he wanted, he tended to get; be it a brand new toy or a favoured food. What little Kiel remembers of those years, he remembers fondly.

A little after he turned five, Kiel's family moved to New Bark Town at the request of his mother. She was originally from a small town in Kalos, and never did manage to grow accustomed to the bustle of Goldenrod. Her health had been deteriorating as of late, and she hoped clearer air and less stress might aid in her recovery. Worried for his wife and wanting to accommodate her, Kiel's father agreed to relocate - but had to travel to Goldenrod for business quite frequently. At times, he was gone for weeks on end.

Even so, for the next eight years Kiel lived an even more peaceful life than during the five prior. Kiel made friends with the local kids, had his first crush, got his first Pokémon - a rowdy little Meowth - and eventually, even became a big brother. Even his mother's health had taken a turn for the better. Whether it was really the fresh New Bark air that did the trick, no one knew.

If only things had stayed the way they were, perhaps Kiel would have grown up to be an entirely different man.

Alas.

At thirteen, Kiel's father took him along to Goldenrod. He had visited it many a time with his parents, mostly for shopping trips or seeing old friends of the family. But this time was different. This time, Kiel's father had something to show him. For the first time in his life, he was introduced to his father's business - and told that one day, he too would take part in it. He was spared the details of what the organization did, but the men and women he met that day were not the friendly sort, even if they did their best to smile at him. Kiel knew as much with a glance.

He was supposed to spend no longer than a week in Goldenrod, but while there, his mother's condition worsened - and eventually claimed her. So, what remained of the family moved away from New Bark Town, and that week became nearly a decade.

To this day, Kiel doesn't talk about his time in Goldenrod.

Some of the people that know him say they saw him during that time; just passing glimpses of a boy glad in the finest of clothes, accompanied by a redheaded boy his age with an unnerving smile. Some saw him accompanied by people far more sinister yet, with dark clothes and darker yet gazes. And yet, Kiel was rarely caught without a smile on his face. He was the happiest of all when accompanied by a little boy that looked much like him - his brother, some knew. The two were very close. Inseparable. Never one without the other.

When Kiel returned to New Bark Town some months ago, he did so alone.

Someone even claimed they saw him without a smile, once - but that must've been just hearsay.

Pokemon:

Ragnar Tanglebeard
Meowth (Galar) | M | Tough Claws

An absolute rascal, Ragnar is always looking for trouble. He thrives on attention, be it positive or negative, and pulls no punches in his attempts to acquire it. If he isn't trying to pick fights with other Pokémon, he's picking the pockets of unsuspecting humans or leaving his mark on public property. He has clawed his way through most of Kiel's furniture at this point, and has an unhealthy obsession with plushies. If he sees one, he must destroy it. No exceptions. The only way to truly calm him down is to pick him up and shower him with food, scritches, or both.

Like his name implies, he has an unusually long beard even for a Galarian Meowth. Ragnar refuses to let Kiel cut it, so he braids it to keep the cat from tripping all over it instead. His fur is messy, and there's a piece missing from his right ear.

Hiro
Phantump | M | Natural Cure

Hiro is... there are many things Kiel would like to say to and about Hiro, yet he never finds the words. Hiro is a shy but curious little Phantump, new to this world and everything in it. His curiosity tends to make him wander and float around things that interest him, be they people, Pokémon, or inanimate objects. Bright ligths scare him however, and he tends to avoid the sun. During daytime, he can often be found in Kiel's bag. He would not mind being recalled into a Pokéball either, but Kiel adamantly refuses to put him there. Hiro has also yet to be used in a battle.

The stump that functions as Hiro's body has two dates engraved onto it.

Reason for Traveling with Main Group: Kiel's reasons to travel are aplenty, though he doesn't readily share most of them. If asked, he'd cite boredom; New Bark Town is small and quiet, totally unlike the metropolis he spent his teenage years in, and he feels it's suffocating. What better way to fix that than a little adventure? He's definitely not running away from past deeds or "friends" of ill repute, nah, of course not.
