"This was the only place I could think of where we'd both be safe." Evie said before showing the scar on her arm and explaining how she obtained it. "I used my holy water to help Lucas fight what was once Damien. I didn't remember it was protecting me until we were at the hotel." She said before looking over sadly at Lucas.

"Who's going to be his keeper now that Isaac's gone?"

Father Walter dried his eyes again and led them to the basin near the front of the chapel. He dipped a jar into it and filled it up, screwing the lid on and giving it to Evie. "Take as much as you need," He said. At her question of who was going to keep Lucas now, he shook his head. "I can't answer that. I tried my best to stay out of...all this. Although, I imagine there's nothing stopping anyone else from stepping up for the job."

He turned to Lucas. "You can always stay here if you need to."

Evie thanked him for the bottle before looking back at Lucas. Father Walters' words hung around her for a moment as she stood there. Was she really going to do this despite knowing the dangers which accompanied it? "I'll be his keeper." She found herself saying.

"He has no one else who's gone through this aside from me. I'll give up journaling to protect him. I'll learn how to exorcise demons so I can at least do something to help. I'm not blind to what's out there anymore."

Father Walters seemed a bit stunned, as did Lucas. The silent man looked at her for a moment before his eyes crinkled in what would have probably been a smile. He took her hand again and squeezed it gently, perhaps showing his approval at the idea.

"Just be careful," Father Walters said, "I'm sure you know what this job entails by now. I have a few resources you can use to learn exorcism, but I'm not sure where Isaac learned what he knew."

Lucas pointed to himself, insinuating that he taught Isaac how to perform exorcisms. He could probably teach Evie as well.

"I know the dangers and I'm not afraid." Evie said before smiling at Lucas as he offered to teach her. Had someone told her she'd be a guardian of an angel demon exorcist, she would have thought they were insane. "You teach me how to exorcise demons, and I'll help you with your sign language. Deal?" She grinned.

He nodded. "Well, if you need anything, my doors are open," Father Walters offered. They would need a place to stay for sure, since both Isaac's house and her apartment were known locations to the cult. Any stragglers crazy enough to enact revenge could show up there at any time. Maybe they could bunker down at the church until they figured it out.

"Thank you, Father Walters. Once I find a place for us where Lucas and I will be safe, we'll be out of your hair. For now, this is our safe haven." She said with a soft sigh. She glanced at Lucas, seeing a little hope in his eyes. "Well, I better start reading those books."

After allowing time to recover from their traumatic experience, Lucas began teaching Evie the ins and outs of exorcism. He picked up sign language quickly, enjoying having a new form of communication.

When Evie began work on a novel telling the tale of the events, Lucas was supportive. This had absolutely nothing to do with the fact that it meant no documentaries or cameras. The book was a hit, and they were able to buy a shared home with the revenue. It seemed like, perhaps, things were looking up.
