Lauren Jones
Don't worry, I'll fix you up right as rain. Nickname: 'Law'
Gender: Female
Birthday: 11/05/833
Sexuality: Bisexual
Ethnicity White, "Caucasian".
Appearance
Of average height and stature with a pretty but ordinary face, Lauren was never one to stand out on appearance alone, unremarkable in most physical aspects. She appears meek, often looking down rather than straight ahead which only adds to her natural blending in; not one to take notice of on these matters alone. Her auburn hair, more red than brown, is sleek and shiny and usually tied up tightly into an efficient ponytail, especially when she is actively engaged in something and draws the eye, in opposition as it is to her pale skin. Eyes of sparkling emerald add a contrasting mix of colour to the pale base of her palette.
Lauren is fit in the way only a worker is. Often she could be seen hefting baskets of bandages, clothes or more gruesome contents between buildings, her sleeves rolled up and an apron, often blood splattered, vainly trying to protect her plainclothes. She is not ostentatious in her dressing but likes to use blue or green cloth when tying her hair back and always wears a small leather pouch on her belt wherever she goes containing some bare essential medical equipment.
Personality: Lauren's always been the quiet type, she is not fond of being in the limelight and prefers just to 'get on with it' in the background but is unafraid to speak up or take command where she feels comfortable or equipped to do so. She's open to other people and can talk for days but is just as comfortable being lost in her own thoughts as being surrounded by friends. Optimistic and deadly serious and matter-of-fact in equal measure, Lauren's largely cheerful mood can often veer into commanding expectation when pressures are applied - but only where she feels confident and only then with prior experience.
Branch: (To come)
Biography: Born into a military family, of sorts, Lauren always had the notion that she would enroll one day as per the family tradition. Her father, a large and brawny man with a gentle nature, worked as a doctor specialising in injuries and was often one who tended to the survivors the Scouts brought back from their forays beyond the Wall. Her mother was a low ranking officer in the Garrison who was posted on the walls surrounding Shiganshina facing out towards the land dominated by Titans. This was still a low danger job as no Titan could reach them on top of the walls and there was no need for them to attack the Titans clawing at the walls, unless the Scouts were coming or returning. Lauren did not see her mother for long stretches of time while she was away on duty but nevertheless managed a close and respectful relation with her. Necessarily, she became very close with her own active parent - her father.
Lauren whiled away her days reading books borrowed from a well-to-do merchant in Quinta who always seemed to have new stock for her, although he was not a well-read man himself and largely dealt in clothing. Her free time was sporadic, with days on end free for her to pursue her interests and others spent assisting her Pa trying to save the lives of returning Scouts and civilians injured in run of the mill accidents. She never had a fear of blood or injuries, exposed to it as she was by her father's work, although most of her time assisting was watching and talking to the injured while her father worked. She learned a lot but never practiced except on the more minor tasks or when Pa was too busy and her attempts were better than leaving wounds to fester.
As a result she has grown accustomed to gruesome sights and the often poor outcomes for patients, especially Scouts injured from their forays outside of the walls. Although never easy, she has become well practiced at speaking to and comfortingthe dying although the experience still leaves her numb and often depressed. Repeated exposure has let her develop coping mechanisms but the sadness and sense of failure at every dead patient takes time to leave her.
Affiliations/Relations:Tanner Harwell - Not so much a specific relation but an acquaintanceship. Lauren has a fondness for books and reading and sometimes finds herself lingering in the Harwell's bookstore. The merchant who supplied her with books had introduced her to the shop and she had visited regularly although had no particular or memorable interaction with Tanner.
Jade Stone - Similar to her relationship with Tanner, Lauren spent time perusing the wares of the Stone bookstore. Through her frequent visits, Lauren built up a relationship with Jade and found the girl often had medical tomes set aside for her when she visited the store. Although similar in nature, Jade was the more outspoken of the two whereas Lauren would fall into natural silence and not stick up for herself.
