"Interacting With"::
Cocky Squid Kid (@Inkarnate), Purple Haired Twit (@Sunbather), Dumbass Space Invading Bitch (@Severance)

Adrianne didn't expect much from the midget, much less an attack on her own Japanese, which would of probably left her the good type of speechless. Instead, she was just left speechless not because of the counter, but because of the comment that followed. She had to dig her teeth into her tongue hard just to keep herself from giggling for even a second.

That girl claims to be her better? With discipline like that? She was on the verge of tearing into that girl just for some stupid, vapid comment. Biting a bit too hard, her eyelids squeezed tightly as she winced a bit in pain, releasing her tongue from its bony prison.

Ridiculous is one word, but after Fried Calimari's earlier reaction, she just had to wonder how low the bar was for Japanese students. This wasn't something she could just overlook! Did they just pick up random wannabes with a temper tantrum like her off the street?! This school is suppose to be one of the most rigorous and prestigious and yet these three stooges could get in.

Adrianne could just feel her fists being on the verge of bleeding as she dug deeper with her nails, knuckles slowly becoming a pale white until she released her hands. Breathe in and breathe out. In through your nose, out through your mouth. These idiots will be gone quicker than the indents you left on your hands, definitely.

Despite all her breathing, she couldn't exactly relax, especially with the purple-prose-pissant now addressing her instead of the blue squid... though Adrianne did wonder why she was looking at the empty seat behind her. Guess it was in character for her to be nervous, at least that's what Adrianne got from first impressions. "She does realize I'm sitting adjacent from the squid kid, right? Actually, I think I'll pray she doesn't; easier to ignore her."

Pretending to not even hear the girl, Adrianne proceeded to just rap and tap her arms as she stared up at the stage, watching the gathering faculty members get everything set up. It would be stupid to rush, but in a situation like, she prayed they would speed it up so she wouldn't have to spend any more time with these clowns.

Especially the green haired girl looking behind her when Adrianne spoke up- wait why is she looking behind her too? Adrianne's mouth was hanging open as she blinked. Either she had another quirk that caused people with an IQ lower than 2 to look behind her when she spoke, she was just that intimidating to the point where people had to avert eye contact, or these two were just plain stupid, and guessing on the way this girl just responded, Adrianne chose to believe it was the former.

Adrianne merely reclined and rested into her seat, grumbling about speaking up or mistakes as she tilted her head skyward. Of course, it was hard to ignore this imbecile the moment she made that disparaging insult. A physical vein formed on the side of her forehead, looking ready to pop at any moment as her arms began to lightly vibrate. "Tch."

Adrianne's head slowly straightened itself, her head turning as if she was some sort of machine, towards that bitch as she starred daggers at the girl with her piercing red glare. If looks could kill, not even a quirk that could bring back the dead could help her here. "Watch. Your. Tongue," Adrianne hissed venomously under her breath, her visage darkening as the girl passed by her, the horned girls eyes never leaving Haruhi.

Of course, until she went to play with the squid girls hair; at this point, she visibly grimaced and scoffed, facepalming as she watched the scene unfold. This could not get any stupider as the former reacted poorly and grasped at the girls hands. Honestly, she expected the girl to tell these green haired bozo to piss off and respect her personal space, especially with what she was doing, but instead decided to go with threatening her.

"Considering how you two are acting, I think I should be worrying more about my 'betters' than my Japanese, especially since one invades peoples personal space and one threatens people at the drop of a dime." Rolling her eyes and sighing, she sunk into her seat, keeping an eye more on the green haired pissant than the blue squiget.

Yasuhide Seo

'Yeah, well, I only started using it a lot when i decided i wanted to be a hero, so only for the past two. . . well, really for the past year.' As Seo signed his response, he almost absent-mindedly started to press a hand to his chest, his posture tensing for a moment as if he was getting ready to bolt before relaxing in one big sigh. He attempred to pass it off as another yawn and stretch, covering his mouth with a splayed hand. 'But I did baseball before that so I know that all good practice takes time, practice, and perfect repetition. So really, the athelete's mindset took me all the way here.'

Like Asuka, he caught his mark's subtle search, cracking a grin as they turned away seemingly none the wiser. He allowed a small moment of self congratulations before giving Asuka his full attention as she began her own demonstration. While he was rather confused at first by her breaking her compact, it all mad more sense as she showed off the restorative functions of her quirk. Incapable of a proper whistle, Seo clapped politely at the show, nodding his vigorusly to show how neat he found his new friend's quirk.

'You're like a nurse and a mechanic mixed into one, hug? Way cooler than my little party trick of a quirk. I'm surprised you even decided to be a hero with a quirk like that. Most kids I know would've tried to be doctors or electronic repairs guys if they could just smack band-aids on things to patch 'em up.' Especially if you already have inside connections.

N a m i e

Here it was: Ishin Academy. Amuro Namie had paused just before passing into the school grounds to let the realization sink in as she disguised it by adjusting her bag that was thrown over her shoulder. One year ago she had to start considering what future she was going to set for herself and it was a decision she was consistently told not to be made lightly. Yet the answer was obvious to her even then in spite of the doubt others projected. She was going to be a hero. Of all the professions, there was none that stood out as more respected or admired in her eyes because heroes were the ones who served society far better than a some baseball star or office worker. How others couldn't see that was beyond her but it was her truth.

Giving her bag one last shuffle, she proceeded taking that metaphorical first step towards her future by entering Ishin grounds. She passively studied the others, upperclassmen by appearance mostly, as she crossed the entry courtyard. Even though she wanted to start projecting how she would be like as an upperclassmen with all the confidence and surety that they had, her thoughts remained on the unknowns of her new start. She had never been away from Tokyo and Sapporo felt isolated from the Japan she knew.

The school also promised to be one of the strictest, looking to shake out those that did not fit the hero mold perfectly. Although that is why Ishin was her first choice. The school promised a person can not just look and act like a hero but be a hero, at least in her opinion and those that made the cut here will be of no doubt, a hero to their very core. Namie was ready for that but she was sure her experiences here would truly test her.

With an occupied mind, she hardly paid attention to the environment around her passing by others quietly as if in a deep focus. She had eventually reached the main hall that was slowly filling with students. Directed to the first year section, she wandered over surveying the rows of strangers she hadn't met before. She wasn't really interested in meeting anyone at the moment since paying attention now seemed important to her image at this school. She was sure, she wouldn't try anything to harm her chances at making it. While scanning the seats she did find an unexpected familiar face in her former teammate but maybe later she can she'd catch up with Seo. She hadn't heard much but she had some idea of what was going on and she frowned at the thought. Although him being here had put some of the unfamiliarity and uncertainty at ease, seeing the small world notion take place had brought her a little familiar comfort.

She would have liked to sit with Seo but he looked occupied making friends and that was fine, more than okay knowing that he seemed like his same old self, but for now Namie was committed to being on her own. She slipped into a seat in the back row just a few positions away from an impossible not to notice girl made of slime. She tucked her backpack and duffel bag under her chair, taking the notion of "packing light" recommendation quite to heart. She straightened herself and watched as the auditorium filled as the school year prepared to get underway.

The time had come.

After what seemed like an eternity, the upperclassmen that had been casually talking amongst themselves outside had headed inside the assembly hall to take their place among the crowd of students that was ready to begin their first day at Ishin proper. Few students were brave enough to skip out on the opening ceremony, as tedious and pointless as it may have seemed. Ishin's faculty were assertive men and women who didn't take complacency lightly and this year it was no different.

Yukimura Hideaki, the Dean of Students and Supervisor of Ishin Academy, hadn't quite seen a line-up of students quite like the current crop that sat front-and-center, mulling over what Ishin was like and talking to one another for the very first time. During his Profesisonal Hero days he had met a lot of optimistic young men and women, but the days of being The Frozen Hero, The Snowman, was long past him. His hair had grown gray and he had long shadows under his icicle-like eyes. His expression was blank, giving the impression he was unimpressed with everyone else in the assembly hall. The truth of the matter was he couldn't be any more excited to have a new group of would-be heroes at the academy. He moved his hand to the microphone on the podium, tapping it with the backside of his right hand.
“Silence.”

His voice boomed across the room. Conversations stopped, attentions shifted, and postures straightened.

“Ishin Academy is the second oldest hero institution in Japan. Sixth in the entire world. This serves as a reminder that it is here at Ishin that we continue a tradition of excellence in preparing the next generation for the future that awaits them. Whether it is a future as a hero or not.”

His eyes moved to the returning members of the student body.

“For those of you that survived the gauntlet that was last year, congratulations. You've passed the first series of tests. You know what comes next and how I'm counting on you to become the very best examples of what Ishin has to offer.”

He pressed his hands against the podium.

“For those of you who are new... well, congratulations on passing the entrance exams.”

The old man looked directly at the more nervous members of the first years. He knew that his tone and appearance was sending a chill down their spine – some of them may have been already wondering what they got themselves into. He was certain that his next few words would make that feeling stick with them. It was a sentiment he was glad to imprint upon them.

“Ishin Academy is a battleground and you will need to prove that you belong here. You should know this just by the merit of applying to this institution, so if you think an acceptance means you have nothing to fear now you are not going to be a student for long. But being a hero is about bravery, tenacity, and humility. Nobody is going to hold your hand here. Your teachers are here to prepare you and nothing else. For those of you that are new to Ishin, you will need to remember that. Should you forget, your upperclassmen will remind you of it very very quickly.”

Hideaki sighed, moving a glass of water to his lips with his left hand, the liquid instantly chilled to perfection as it met his lips. He always did hate monologues and speeches, especially after he had retired from the professional circuit to teach and administrate. It was probably the one singular thing he didn't care for about his years as Dean of Students at Ishin Academy. There was too much talking. But it was the job.

He placed the drink down and cleared his throat, preparing to continue with the speech. He still needed to go over dormitory assignments and a few other necessary details before he would drone on for a good few more minutes until dismissing the crowd to get settled into their dorms and prepare for tomorrow. He understood the bulk of the first years were separated between a variety of instructors. Two of which he had once instructed personally when he was much much younger. Two very different and very interesting choices. He wondered how the students would take to both of their decidedly unique teaching styles. He supposed he would find out about that by the end of the month.

“The first day of Ishin Academy is special. First-time students get to have one day to get acclimated before the grueling, unforgiving crawl of the school year begins. At the end of this ceremony, you will get sorted by a hand-picked upperclassmen as is Ishin tradition. If you have trouble understanding the map in your pamphlets or misunderstand where you belong please speak with a faculty member so your understanding of the campus grounds can be corrected.”

He half-laughed as he waved his hand to the projector film behind him that had been showing still images relative to his speech.

“At the end of the day, whether you are a new student here or have been selected to return you need to remember one thing. Give your best; not for yourself, but for the world. Soar Skyward.”

As the older hero moved away from the podium, the student body seemed to disperse outside of the first-years who remained in place.

“Hello! Hey! If you’re assigned to Class 1A, you’re with me!”

A girl, about sixteen-years-old, waved her hand outward to the first years from the right sidelines of the auditorium.

Appearing to be a shorter girl, a few hairs taller than the blue-haired girl who had been talking with a few other of the first years, the upperclassmen smiled wide as she looked over the crowd as another upperclassmen shouted to members of Class 1B. Between her left arm and her body appeared to be a clipboard, though the one thing that stood out was her pointed cat ears that cut through her hair.

“C’mon! Don’t just stand around!”

Yoshiba had shot a glance at the horned foreigner. Maybe it was her reactionary nature, but she very nearly responded in kind, as she had before. The bickering around her that she found herself involved in seemed to be escalating no matter what she did. Did she pick the wrong seat? The blue-haired girl considered very strongly that she had made a mistake by even interacting with the purple-haired girl in the first place. While the horned girl was right that she had needlessly threatened the other girls, Yoshi did wonder if the mouthy gaijin intended to comment on everything around her. Were they the same in that their impulses seemed to get the best of them? What would it take to keep her mouth shut?

Yoshiba didn't have much time to think on the thought before the sound of a booming voice caused her to straighten up her posture and turn to attention.

By the end of the speech by the apparent headmaster, her impression probably mirrored the speaker's.

It was a chore, effectively useless, and she wasn't all too interested in it. But that was probably where her feelings and the dean's ended. Yoshiba knew that Ishin was a tough-as-nails school, heck, everybody knew it. The whole world knew it. The whole spiel about proving you belong and just getting in wasn't going to keep them in the academy was old news. Her mother had gone to Ishin Academy when she was the same age, so she had heard all of the stories about Ishin's no nonsense attitude and what it took to “soar skyward”. It did not surprise her in the slightest. After all, she hadn't applied to Ishin Academy thinking it was going to be easy or fun, she had applied because it was known for creating some of the best heroes in the entire world. Second to UA in all of Japan. Her mother being a former alumni just happened to be dressing on the cake.

Outside of introducing herself and a slight engagement with her peers she had stayed quiet in the time leading up to Snowman's speech. She wasn't keen on trying to socialize or waste time. Analyzing the room was more important; if not for a moron touching her hair and two blustering idiots she would have been left alone. She had been proper. She had set boundaries. She showed initiative by being at the assembly earlier than every single other first year despite being from as far as Kagoshima. In her mind, she had shown that she understood the fact that Ishin Academy was a battleground and she needed to prove to those above her how everyone else was second best.

As the speech came to its end she took a light breath, thinking about every word the retired hero had stated.

The most surprising and disappointing thing she heard was about the first day of school. So, for the whole day she wasn't going to get to meet her homeroom teacher? She wasn't going to get to leave her mark in the classroom? She thought about the concept, but she supposed some people needed it. Weaker people. Sidekicks. If Ishin thought she, the soon-to-be greatest hero of her generation, was going to waste time sight-seeing in Sapporo they were sorely mistaken. She was going to train and prepare.

“Acclimated, huh?” Yoshiba muttered underneath her breath. “Lame.”

As students dispersed, she looked over at the pamphlet in her free hands that explained the campus and came with a map. She wasn't sure how long it took for a peppy female voice seemed to shout over the crowd. She was keen on ignoring her until she said a specific phrase that caught her attention.

Class 1A.

She stretched her legs, before heading in the direction of the girl without talking to any of the girls that had bothered her before the speech. There was a whole day of training to get started.

Tanegashima Wakako

Sapporo, Japan
Ishin Academy, Auditorium. April 7th

Unfortunately, Osamu did not end up discussing himself at all that great a length. Worse yet, he was about to point out who her mother was. Wakako knew this was bound to happen eventually; one could not be the daughter of a famous hero without being recognised. She would just politely admit to it and hope to shift the conversation onto a more pleasant topic before they had to waste time discussing Sanae Tanegashima at any great length.

However, before Wakako had the chance to say a word, she watched as some ball-like object struck Osamu in the back of the neck. She was a little startled by the suddenness of it all. She too looked around as Osamu sought out his assailant, but to no avail. At least Osamu seemed to be fine. In fact, from the look on his face, this had barely impacted on him at all. She admired someone that was capable of being so nonchalant in the face of negative attention. If it had happened to Wakako, she would be fretting over whether someone had genuinely meant her ill will right now.

"Oh my goodness, are you alright?" She asked, but mostly out of politeness. She could tell he was fine, and there didn't appear to be any damage to his neck. "Golly, to think someone would be so crude at a time like this!" Wakako's first inclination was to assume this person had simply acted out of wanton spite. After all, she had only just met Osamu, and he seemed perfectly polite. She couldn't fathom a single good reason why anyone would feel entitled to throw things at him, even if it didn't hurt him in any meaningful capacity. It was probably just some cad who enjoyed hurting people's feelings, like so many she had the displeasure of meeting during her school years.

It would not be long before the principal beckoned for everyone to be silent, and Wakako had no intention of disobeying such a simple request from the principal of all people. As the principal launched into his introductory spiel, Wakako couldn't help but feel apprehensive. It was about what she expected; "do better", "no one will hold your hand", "grueling and unforgiving". All words and phrases that she heard from her mother on a regular basis. It confirmed much of what she worried about, that this school was out to break her in and turn her into an efficient automaton set on achieving "results". None of this sounded appealing. But she had long since resolved to get her stint at this school over and done with. She would get results alright, but she intended to come out the other side her own person still. Not a cold, harsh person obsessed with effectiveness, but a good, warm hero that encouraged people rather than sneering down on them. She wanted to be All Might, not the Warship hero.

When the speech came to it's end, they were beckoned by one of their seniors to follow as a class. "Guess we better get going, huh?" Wakako said to Osamu before leaving her seat to join the others. Whatever awaited her, she would have to see.

He’d seen the Dean of Students before in a magazine when he was still in middle school. The Frozen Hero, Snowman. He’d been around in the era before All Might, and was known for his serious attitude and commitment to protecting the weak. The fact that someone who had been around before the era of All Might and had been a professional hero was exciting! His attitude was...different than the heroes he’d seen on TV.

He could feel the pressure filling the room for all the first-year students. There were expectations being laid upon them already, something he had never dealt with. He was the son of a traveling saleswoman and a mechanic for goodness sake! How was he going to survive in a world of heroes-a world that before his school trip to Tokyo that previous year, he’d never even given a second thought to. He’d just acted, without thought, and after speaking with his teachers realized that he enjoyed helping people.

Was that enough to be a hero?

“Hello! Hey! If you’re assigned to Class 1A, you’re with me!” The sound of the upperclassman girl grabbed Shun’s attention as the others began to move out.

Shun looked to Nadeshiko and to Kana, grasping the bag that held the pineapple. “Class 1A? That’s the class i’m in!” He stood up, ready to make his way towards the slowly gathering group of classmates. Who would he be taking these classes with? Would they be friendly?

Osamu Kenzo

"Quite fine, thank you." Osamu responded to Wakako's inquiry. It would take a great deal more than some juvenile prank to debilitate him. "It is an ill omen, I must admit." He replied to Wakako's follow up comment. He had hoped that Ishin of all places would not attract the kind of people who would engage in such tomfoolery, but apparently a reputation for being harsh and rigorous did not daunt the most avid of troublemakers. Hopefully the staff would be quick to crack down upon such nonsense when classes started in earnest.

Just like Wakako, Osamu's full attention turned to the stage upon the call for silence. t would not do for him to give anything less than his full attention to the principal, or any staff member that demanded the student body's attention. The principal immediately began to speak of the rigors associated with attendance of Ishin Academy. Osamu had heard much of what to expect from his father, though they both expected that things would have changed in the 20 odd years since he had attended personally. Goodness knew the presence of foreign students spoke volumes about how much had changed here. He believed himself ready for the trials to come, and yet, a small piece of him disagreed with what he heard. It was not some great rebellion or defiance that swelled within him, but he did question the seemingly antagonistically competitive narrative that was being spun here. It was Osamu's firm belief that they should work together as a body to further their development, rather than leaving people behind if they seemed to fail. Provided it did not involve him having to directly defy authority, Osamu for one would be doing his best to prop his comrades up rather than beat them down.

When the speech ended, the different classes were called to follow different upperclassmen. Wakako herself got up to leave, and to Osamu's small delight, it would seem they were both in class 1-A, following after the feline girl that had called for them to follow. "It will be a pleasure to learn alongside you, Tanegashima-san." Osamu told her as he walked alongside her. It would remain to be seen how well they would get along, but as far as first impressions went, he was quite certain she was a perfectly pleasant young lady.

Hair suddenly wrapped around her wrist like vines or in Yoshiba’s case tentacles. The thought of slimy suction cups plagued her mind causing her to stick her tongue out with an audible bleh. Her sudden excitement vanished within moments and she just wanted her hand back. ”This must be the girls quirk, I shouldn’t stick my tongue out that’s rude" and as if she was a psychic too Yoshi confronted Haurhi about her manners. “They do! Maybe if we have time, I can tell you all about it what do you say?” she said with her fingers squirming around in the tangled web of hair. “Miz..hu..Yo..shi..hmmm no I don’t like that. I’ll just call you Yoshi-chan you can call me Haruhi” it was at this point she would have on instinct formed a peace sign up to her eye with it closed.

Haruhi ignored the foreigner’s remarks, she was kind of mean and very rude for a foreigner, but her parents did warn her that foreigners were very loud and inconsiderate of their culture anyways. It was just something she would have to help Adrianne correct if she ever wanted to be considered a hero. Before she could continue on there was a sudden chill that ran through her spine as if the whole room had lowered a few centigrade. A bone chilling voice commanded silence which everyone in the audience simply obliged immediately. Who was this guy? And why was he so cold? Haruhi shifted her eyes left and right to see if anyone was as lost as she was, but it didn’t seem like the case. Instead she sank down into her seat clutching her arms trying to prevent the shivers from throwing her into the arms of hypothermia. Man, she was missing the comfort of the Nara heat and the thought of dirty overalls.

His speech carried on and on, maybe he was a history teacher or who knows. She cupped her mouth with a hand asking around in a hushed whisper who he was. People didn’t seem to like that since she was met with shushes and the name snowman for some reason. He didn’t look like a snowman at least he looked more human than anything. As her attention wavered and faded amidst his speech, she turned around in her seat peering over the back rest to see the rest of the entering freshman that may or may have not been joining her class. Her gaze caught the site of a rather tall woman that kind of looked like a boy further back. Why were all the girls so tall?! The more she looked around the more she was intrigued. There was a boy with a white board wrapped around his neck, some kind of monster made out of pink goo and another girl with pretty hair in the color of blue and gold.

She turned around when the old man walked away, and the upperclassmen dispersed clapping in awe of the speech. After hearing someone call for class 1-A she sprinted off to meet her, this was definitely going to be a good first day.

Well, Yasuhide was definitely the first to make the comparison without making some kind of pun, so that much Asuka appreciated. That said, once the word 'doctor' left his mouth, Asuka had to hold back a groan of indigence. Why must the universe insist on steering her in a direction she so utterly despised? Clearing her throat, she offered a polite laugh to his words, pursing her lips as her fingers drummed her knees.

Fortunately, she was saved from having to give a response as the Dean commanded silence from the entire room. It was kinda impressive, but she had to admit that feeling dwindled the more the speech went on. Weren't these things supposed to be more awe-inspiring? Maybe he was trying to wheedle out the cowards, but Asuka didn't exactly feel intimidated by it. Survival of the fittest was probably what he was trying to get at, but that also didn't really seem very heroic. Oh well, she wasn't in a position of authority so she didn't care. All she wanted to do was graduate, get popular, and rake in the adoration she deserved.

Once the speech ended, everyone moved around them--other students who already knew where to go, the difference between them and the newcomers obvious at everyone who stayed in place. Asuka suppressed her sigh, her right hand tossing her hair over her shoulder as she flashed a smile at Yasuhide. "Well, that was enlightening," She joked, pausing as she noticed an odd tension in his expression. What, he could pelt someone and laugh it off but get intimidated by a speech from an old guy trying way too hard to spook the freshman? She waited a few seconds for a response, finding none. Maybe he was lost in thought.

Asuka placed her hand on his shoulder as she tried to get his attention. "Yasuhide-san? Is everything okay?" She asked him gently.

Akizawa Nadeshiko

Ishin Academy | Sapporo

Interacting with:
@DruSM157@Mcmolly

Nadeshiko blinked beneath bangs of goo as Shun introduced himself. He certainly seemed rather... carefree with the way he referred to her and the other girl. Perhaps it was simply how things were where he was from. She couldn't exactly place his accent, but his skin tone—and the laid back nature with which he conducted himself—led her to believe he was from the south. Maybe Kyushu? AN islander? It didn't matter, she supposed. He seemed to be excited just having met her, and that was enough to excuse any broach of social protocol. She didn't have much of a chance to respond to his enthusiasm, though. No sooner than she had opened her lips to murmur a peep did the booming voice of the academy's headmaster drown her out.

What followed was... well, nothing unexpected. She had long known Ishin's reputation as a grueling battleground. She imagined this speech was meant as a way of quashing hope from the new arrivals, to flatten their expectations of an idyllic school life full of cherished memories of an adolescence now fleeting. Luckily for her, she had no such expectations. She had been thoroughly deflated at the prospect since she got on the train back in Ōtsu.

Before she could be sucked back into her own ruminations, the auditorium suddenly was abuzz with activity, the speech having come to an end. As their seniors dispersed all around them, she found herself just as lost as the rest of her first-year peers. That is, until a spunky girl with a pair of cat ears began calling out for the class she had been assigned to. She peered up at Shun as he hopped out of his seat and made to excuse himself, apparently being a member of 1A himself.

"Me too." She said, soft as could be. The goo girl stood a few seconds after her pineapple-wielding companion, pulling the handle to her luggage to its full length. She then looked to the other girl, who had been seated on Shun's other flank.

"And you, Kana-san?"

Kana seemed to be a rather standoffish type, just based on her expression and the tense posture she held. Which itself very nearly dissuaded Nadeshiko from murmuring anything her way at all. But, perhaps the excitement of the day had hardened her against her usual anxieties. Or simply fatigued her too much to worry excessively over it. Only time would tell.

Yasuhide Seo

As someone who constantly hides his feelings behind a face, Seo was very quick to pick up when people did the same to him. It was a subtle change in her face and the too-polite tone of her laughter that alerted him of his misstep, and it didn't take much to figure out what he'd said to put his new conversation partner a bit of the defensive.

Smooth, Seo. She has certainly not heard that her healing quirk would be good for healing people before. Groaning to himself internally, he gave her a small nod and a chuckle in return as he rubbed the back of his head. It was as close as an admittance of his lack of tact as he was willing to make, and it seemed, all he'd be allowed as all attention was called to the center stage. Unlike Asuka, Seo was actually rather taken in by the first part of the speech. He understood that it was mainly a scare tactic to make sure that students were going to perform at their very best, but it was that atmosphere that made him want to attend Isshin. He wanted to be a hero like Yukimura-san had been in his glory days. An example of a heroic ideal that inspires others to attain the ideal only if they had the stomach to give themselves entirely to the people they swear to protect.

Keep an eye on out, Snowman. One day I might. . . no, I will be a hero that surpasses you. . . surpasses Endeavor. . . surpasses All Might himself. Seo felt his heart race a bit as images of himself in the future ran through his head, his hands taking one white knuckle grip as he zoned out of the rest of the speech. Nothing you throw at me is going to matter. I'll conquer every test you throw at me, prove that I'm not just some sad kid who can't speak, not just a burdensome reminder, and then. . . and then . . . and then

"And then . . . what?"

The voice that rang out broke his fantasy of heroism as, suddenly, he found himself the center of attention. Everyone was looking at him with cold, expectant gazes. Upon the stage, the Principal seemed to tower over the whole auditorium, staring down at the small figure of Seo with a look that couldn't be anything more than disdain.

"What. . . cat's got your tongue? I'm asking you a question. What do you plan to do . . ." As the principle's voice trailed off, everything began to fade away into a dark shadowy mist. The cold ice blue of his eyes became a piercing red glare as the features of his face melted away into a formless shadow that hung over the boy with it's imposing presence. Seo tried to speak, to move, to do anything. But he couldn't. Could barely even breathe as the apparition reached out to him. Shadow peeled away to reveal a gnarled, clawed hand, dripping with red as it came closer and closer until he could feel an all too familiar sensation. Red clogged his vision as pain radiated from his chest, his mouth tasting of iron and nothing but a strained, faint heartbeat pumping through his veins. And, as he felt himself losing consciousness, he heard a voice speak once more.

"Yasuhide-san? Is everything okay?"

Seo came to with a start, eyes darting this way and that as he blinked away the remnants of his hallucination. Taking a deep breath, he leaned over to center himself in the current reality. He was at Isshin Academy, in the auditorium, next to a cute girl he'd just met. He'd made a friend, and pulled a prank on some stiff-looking guy. He wasn't back in that house. He wasn't in any danger. He was in control and he wasn't scared. He wasn't scared. He. Was Not. Scared. Taking another deep breath, Seo ran a hand through his hair as he turned to the no doubt somewhat worried Asuka with as neutral an expression as he could muster.

'Yeah, I'm fine. I space out. Speech real boring, ya know.' His signs were jumbled and rushed, hands visibly shaking somewhat as he pushed his way through them to get the general message across. Asuka didn't even get a chance to really respond to him either as he was already collecting his things and heading over to where the cat-eared girl was calling for class 1A, though he didn't move fast enough to abandon her completely. Hovering nearby, he once again pressed a hand against his chest, repeating his mantra to himself once more to try and . . . re-focus himself. Calm down Seo, this isn't the first episode you've ever had. It wasn't even the worse one. Stop freaking out. It's a new school, with new people. No one here to pity you, no one here to talk about how you used to be. New start. Fresh Start. Your Start.

Readjusting his pack once more, he let out a sigh as he let a hand fall into his jacket pocket. He felt the hard plastic of the bottle as he closed his hands around it, playing with the locking cap as he considered taking one. But then he'd be that kid. With a huff, he took his hand out of his pocket, adjusting the strap of his sports bag as he wondered when they were going to get a move on already.

When it came to the Dean's speech, Namie felt like she had latched onto everything he was saying even to the point of nodding along. This was just the beginning of a long trial to prove that she had the bravery and tenacity to succeed. Humility was a nice touch, too, as many her age held onto ridiculous statements like "I am going to surpass this person" without even a thought about what that meant. Calling out those that were too proud or too doubtful right way was a perfect touch. She just knew Ishin was the right fit for her! She would have stood up and started applauding the Dean's speech had it been appropriate to do so.

After the speech, she was pumped up but did well to hide this fact keeping her expression unwavering. However the energy was coming in her step, she was quickly up on her feet and ready to get on with her day. There was a lot to do for the first day of class, exercise and studying mainly. She was even tempted to ask a few of the upperclassmen about what they've been doing to prepare outside of classes but before she cemented her decision, the call for Class 1-A sounded. She turned and glanced around before she saw the expectant face of an upperclassman that was the likely suspect. It was actually perfect, someone she could casually ask for some regiment advice and she wouldn't be out of order in doing so.

She scooped up her bags in a haste and made it over to the gathering group of her classmates. She quietly joined the group and gave each individual a quick study. Seo was in this group, good. She was curious to figure out how he was doing. The others she did not recognize but she was feeling a bit excited to meet some of them. Thinking of which, she hadn't said anything since arriving and she didn't want to put others off or anything. "Hey guys." She said plainly, raising her hand in a rather relaxed manner. She wasn't much of a talker though.

Dean Yukimura's speech seemed to strike a chord with some of the students, who were undaunted by the challenge, and perhaps even emboldened to meet it. Others still looked entirely unfazed, and while most of them were assumedly upper-classmen, it was clear that even a few of the first-years had hardly heard a word the man had said.

Kana had heard every word, and she was harrowed. As the Dean's eyes swept through the assembly, lingering upon the faces of the first-years, she could have sworn their eyes met. She could have sworn they met, and that she saw utter disgust in them. In that moment she felt unbelievably cold, and mortally terrified.

It's like he knows you don't belong here. You're not brave. You're not tenacious. And being humble is not the same as being pathetic.

Her eyes fell to her lap, to the bag, where her fingers were wound up so tightly they were starting to ache. What was she thinking? Ishin expected greatness. Ishin expected perfection. Her father had known she wasn't cut out for this, he'd known coming here would be a mistake. You can't pull blood from a stone. That was what he'd said. Sitting here now, she felt like a stone about to shake itself apart, and she was certain there'd be no blood in the rubble.

"Soar Skyward."

You're better off six feet deep.

Do not start crying again.

"—That's the class I’m in!"

Kana jolted, scooting back in her seat as Shun stood up to leave. Class? What class? The freshman class? She looked around, and found that the auditorium had practically emptied of all but the first-years, and already most of them were splitting up to either side of the room.

Oh god. Oh no. She'd missed something important.

"…And you, Kana-san?"

Kana turned to Nadeshiko, finding no comfort in the girl's monochrome face, despite the rather gentle look she wore. "Ah…uhm…"

Say you aren't sure. Say you weren't paying attention because you were about to vomit. She's being polite. She's nice. She's not gonna care that it only took you an hour to fuck up.

"…Yes. I mean—ah—I am. I am also in that class."

She bowed her head again, like it was a reflex, or a tick, and got up quickly, nearly bumping Shun and losing hold of her bag in the process. She mumbled an apology anyway, standing aside so that the both of them could get out, before making her way to the right-most group of students. Lingering at the back, she listened to group mumbling amongst themselves, trying to parse out exactly what she'd walked into. When she heard the words "1A" she sighed with relief. Somehow, she'd stumbled into where she was meant to be. That didn't stop the shaking, though. Even clutching the bag close, her fingers continued to shake, and her knees felt like…well…she'd have said "jelly," but a quick glance at Nadeshiko had her worrying if that would be offensive.

Weak, she decided instead. They felt weak.

Fitting.

Hajo remained silent throughout the exchange, noticing the strongly-varying layers of hostility lacing each of the girls' words - she hoped she wouldn't share a class with overly rude tall girl, at least, scrunching her nose in baffled confusion. Though she itched to chat up more of the freshmen around her, and inquire as to why the minty-headed student had ignored her (so much for oblivious!) Hajo remained properly seated, quiet, and attentive, her face still a crimson mask unable to take another scolding gaze.

Soon, however, the entire room's attention shifted towards the podium - Hajo admittedly didn't know much about the faculties' hero days, though she recognized the old man's competence at a glance. He carried that wiry vintage hardness in his body, painting his body language, his speech, his expression, unapproachable, as if an insurmountable distance lingered and grew between him and the new students. When his speech ended and the room roared back to live, Hajo remained immobile, lingering in thought. The greeting was... different. She had expected a strict education given her original goal of attending Shiketsu, but the blatant hostility that seemed to be nurtured by the school put her off. Thankfully, the voice that pulled her from her thought-lost state was a lot cheerier than she would've expected out of a second year - a good sign!

“Hiii,” she chirped, waving excitedly, before quickly pulling her belongings from underneath her seat and hurrying over to the girl that had called out. She noticed a few familiar appearances as she approached the small group - there was the small mascot girl, and... “You're the sweaty boy from the entrance,” Hajo remarked with a wide smile etched into her face, her free hand rudely pointing at him, as if he was a wanted criminal caught in the act. “You're all 1A, too? It's nice to meet you all! I'm Utsuya Hajo!”

Aw, he spaced out? That was kinda cute. Although he seemed more tense than spacey, but at the same time, that wasn't really any of her business, was it? She wasn't about to be rude and question him on it, though. If there was one thing she learned from middle school, it was that people didn't generally like when you delved too soon into their lives. Instead, she nodded in understanding, hurriedly grabbing her own luggage before chasing after Yasuhide. Excellent, they were in the same class! One friend down, the rest to go!

Asuka stood next to Yasuhide happily, rocking back and forth on her heels as she took a quick look at the others that had gathered. One girl with a set of pigtails and red eyes greeted them after raising her hand, and Asuka couldn't help but wave back, trying to keep herself open and friendly. Maybe she should tone down the enthusiasm? Well, Yasuhide seemed to be alright with that level until he spaced out, so she'd have to play it by ear with each individual to see their reactions. After all, everyone was different.

And speaking of different, one purple haired girl decided to (rather loudly) exclaim and point at someone. Funny, Asuka didn't think elementary school children were allowed in Ishin. Utsuya Hajo, well now she knew who to watch to see what not to say to people. "How rude," Asuka commented, shaking her head as she looked to the tactless child with a small smile. "If we're going to be in the same class, we should aim to get along and not go around insulting one another." She cheerfully said, punctuating her statement with a small giggle.

Scoping out the other first years, Yoru wasn't exactly impressed with the lot of them. More specifically, she wasn't impressed with the foreigner and squidhead. While the majority of students were acting all buddy buddy with each other, the two of them were the worst. Rather than sit down and wait like good little students, they decided to spend at least part of the pre-preamble being generally unpleasant. The girl with purple hair could at least sound innocent when her venomous tongue wounded others, which was actually pretty funny. Squid and foreigner just seemed more bitchy with a capital B. Probably not good to associate with those two, especially for her own image. Well, what was the likelihood that the two of them ended up in the same class as-

Her thoughts were interrupted by an old man's literally chilling appearance. Soon, his monologue began. Despite being considered interesting by no party, Yoru still listened rather intently. If it came down to it and a teacher asked about the monologue, actually showing that one listened to it would increase her standing. Someone getting caught with their pants down only made them look like a idiot. You could probably spin lovable ol' goof into an incredibly popular identity, but not when you're just a student and especially not a student in Ishin.

At least, not yet.

In any case, his monologue came to a close and Yoru was left without much guide as to what to do. The upperclassmen seemed to know, but they didn't really tell them either. Thankfully, it didn't take long for a bunch of upperclassmen to begin to shout out for their respective groups. Class 1A, the girl's voice rang out. That's where Yoru was.

It wasn't much surprise that Yoru's face almost instantly contorted into disappointment and annoyance that she saw the people she was trying to avoid. A couple of the others seemed nice, sure. But those bee-eye-tee-cee-aitch-eee-eses were there too. Yea, sure. Yoru played nice with others, at least most of the time. Her standing was much more important than endless verbal dunkings on fools. That didn't mean she enjoyed it. It was going to be a long school year, unless they were secretly enjoyable to be around. The chances of that? Pretty low. Well, she'd bite her tongue. At least, while other people were watching.

Extending its arm, she wheeled out her suitcase from under her chair. Wasn't really much point in dilly-dallying. Fixing whatever expression she made, she walked towards the girl calling for them. She won the genetic lottery, so it'd seemed. Natural cat ears were super popular. Better than patchy-fur, ugly eyes, and a deformed face. Though, there were always different strokes for different folks. People on the internet often enjoyed weird things.

Which was weird.

Nonetheless, she joined up with the 1A group. Between the general passive aggressiveness of a few notable people and not wanting to get onto the wrong side of drama, Yoru decided to not start shit so early. Plus, she didn't exactly etch out the useful people to be around. The only people that she paid close attention to before the intense old-man monologue were the people she wanted to avoid associating with. Besides that, she could only see the more friendly groups. Well, she might as well introduce herself to the entire class, even with the instantly odd atmosphere of two girls about to go at it. Following the example of another girl with pigtails, she put on a well-practiced smile. Not too intense, not too mute. Just enough to maximize approachability.

"Hello~!" She said in an introduction that could only be described as melodic."I'm Genkuro Yoru. It's certainly a pleasure to meet all of you. Let's have a good school year, no?" It was executed without so much as a stutter or slip. Not really out of an innate talent of public speaking, but from days spent dedicated in front of a mirror.

“Oh, hey, guys! Don’t fight! Uh...”

The cat-eared sixteen-year-old rushed to stop any sort of altercation, her ears twitching as she did so.

Nekohara Aia smile nervously as she held out her hands, trying to prevent one misunderstanding start a full-blown argument while people were trying to introduce themselves and Aia herself was trying to act like the upstanding upperclassmen and go about the process she had been tasked to do just as Aia’s upperclassmen, Yamamoto Koichi, had been tasked to do before her. She wondered what the cool-headed Koichi would do in such a situation? In no more than three seconds she got an idea.

“If I can have your attention I can tell you your dorm room assignments! And, uh, answer any question you have! I'm Nekohara Aia! I'm glad to be your senpai! Now, if you'd, uh, open your pamphlets to the campus map, lets get started!”

Aia turned a little red at the idea of someone calling her a senpai in such a way, but knew that attracting attention and diffusing any argument in day one was her responsibility. Being chosen to mentor a whole class was a honor and she knew anything bad that happened would look bad on her. This wasn’t a day where she could goof off. She turned to look at her peer in Year 2, as he and the other first years apparently were looking at her group in confusion of some of the commentary that the other first years were making. What were they looking at? At least her group of first years were sociable! Aia no doubt preferred liveliness over people standing straight like a board and having the initiative of a lemming. Hmph.

Moving her own clipboard from her arm to her hands so she could read it, Aia looked down. She decided it would be best to start with the girls.

“Which one of you is Kunze-san?” Her eyes moved through the crowd as they formed proper curiosities, “You and Akizawa-san are paired together on the second floor of the Chiheisen Dorm Building.”

Sapporo, Japan
Ishin Academy, Auditorium. April 7th

Joining the gathering students was supposed to be easy. Just join up, meet your class and enjoy the exciting springtime of your youth. Here Shun was, away from his father’s control, away from the known and in a totally new place. A grand place to make a great first impression, to learn how to become a hero. To spread his wings and fly. This cute upperclassman girl was there to help them and-

“You're the sweaty boy from the entrance.”

The color drained from Shun’s face. ”Wh-what? Sweaty?!” What had happened at the entrance? He’d been running, but then-he looked at her accusatory stare, her pointing finger, and his heart crashed through the ground, deep into the earth’s core. Did they think he was on the run? In trouble? A creep? Naturally sweaty!? ”Wait no I can explain-”

"If we're going to be in the same class, we should aim to get along and not go around insulting one another."

An angel had come to save him from this torment. To save the day and hopefully give him a chance to explain that he was not, in fact, a super sweaty guy. Or a guy with a sweaty quirk. Sure it made him sweaty if he overextended it’s use but…

”I uh, I just wanted to make sure I got to school on time. I had to make a detour before I made my way to school…”

“Oh, hey, guys! Don’t fight! Uh...”

The upperclassman girl also came to the rescue. As everyone began to converse and get their room assignments, the attention would naturally move to that and not to whether or not Shun was in fact, a sweaty boy or not. He breathed a deep sign of relief.

Nekohara Aia-senpai (@Inkarnate), "Akizawa-san" (@Naw), Akizawa-san (@Asura)

After her final snappy comment she just remained silent, reclining back into her chair as she glared up at the stage, huffing as she crossed her arms and impatiently tapped her finger against the uniform, waiting for this whole opening ceremony to start. After so long, the faculty talking on stage seemed to disperse, causing the girl to raise an eyebrow inquisitively as she straightened her back and blankly stared up at the stage with a frown.

Finally. They were getting on with this, so hopefully those three third-rate students would shut up and actually have something proper to think about in their lives. Regardless, as the older hero approached the mic, she squinted, her lips forming an awkward smirk as she held back a scowl. While she did intend to take this all seriously, that flat, almost unimpressed comb-over honestly made her blood boil. Yeah, this was starting to remind her too much of her Mother's side of the family, but she kept her mouth shut as the older mans voice reverberated through the auditorium.

Chilling, yet she remained relatively unfazed, she wasn't exactly bothered by the sentiments at all, sometimes shallowly nodding her head at certain points during the speech. Whether she was agreeing or doing it as a way of being impatient was honestly up in the air.

However, what she did focus on was the fact that this was a battleground, something she was all too familiar with when it came to the bullshit sessions during her summertime at The Kunzes. If this place was as unfair as it was stated to be, then it was starting to look a lot like that place. However, despite all the platitudes and exorbitant explanations, she wasn't going to be scared because of those statements unlike some of the other possible first-years.

Eventually, the speech came to an end, the girl absorbing every piece of the older mans words like a sponge as she continued staring at the man. She ruminated on those words briefly, going over every single thing the man said as she remained as still as a statue. Only after he cleared her throat was she broken out of those thoughts, returning her attention to the man as she blinked with the same, unflinching look he had. Of course, what he said next just made her shake her head in disappointment, "You've gotta be kidding.

As she murmured it under her breath, her visage darkened just a smidgen. That was quite the contradictory statement the man was telling everyone; a day for new students to be acclimated? Considering the place they were attending, those who were attending should already be acclimated; so much for not holding their friggin' hands. If they couldn't handle being ready to start from the get-go, they should get out of here and go somewhere else, spare everyone, including themselves, the trouble of being kicked out.

Whatever, those who were prepared, like her, would probably actually take the time to train and prepare instead of waste their time doing... whatever they usually did, flirting or something? She didn't know, but she didn't care, as those were the types of people who would be long gone.

Despite her immense disappointment, she remained relatively attentive as he concluded the ceremony; Adrianne continued to stare up at the old man as some students began rising up and began to disperse. However, she sat there, very briefly and murmured something to herself, "Soar Skyward, huh?"

Cracking her neck and stretching, she decided to go on the initiative, rising up with the people as she raised her arms up skyward before letting them fall to the side. She glanced over at her luggage and began to shuffle through it before producing a pamphlet. Flicking it open, she went over the contents before flipping it closed and tossing it back in.

Hauling the luggage behind her like a rag doll, Adrianne began surveying the vicinity, looking to analyze who might actually look capable, serious, or a relevant threat. She did this for a couple of seconds all while some people were shouting over the crowds about classes; sounded fairly young and she could honestly guess those were her seniors.

As the shouting went on, the words Class 1A caught her attention. Looking in the direction the words came from, she witnessed not only the Squid Kid heading in that direction, but those other two idiots as well were following after, much to Adrianne's horror. She began grinding her teeth for a minute before stopping, taking one deep breath in and out before rationalizing that they might be heading for another class.

... wait, why were they stopping around the short girl that was calling for Class 1A? Maybe they misheard her and would leave any minute now.

... any minute now...

...

... oh god damnit, she was going to be in the same class as these lunatics. Adrianne could merely scowl at the observation she made as the terrible trio lingered around the girl. Well, better rip this band-aid off before it gets worse as she began trudging towards the group, taking care to glance over at any others who would appear to be approaching as well.

Looking over to the side, she noticed a girl who was a bit taller than her approaching the group who looked just as built as she did. Honestly speaking, that was a bit reassuring, at least to her. At least the class wouldn't be mostly filled with people who just managed to scrape by the tests.

As she approached the group, she kept mostly to herself, not really speaking up as she lingered behind most of them, staring down at them all with her piercing red eyes. Adrianne cared little for introductions, favoring to silently judge all them as opposed to any sort of interaction and honestly, she felt to be in the better for it.

Most of her "classmates" seemed to be making fools out of themselves through interactions and misunderstandings, all while there upperclassman, a girl with cat ears, tried to deescalate the situation. Adrianne couldn't help but feel a bit bad for the girl as she remained silent and to herself.

At least, until her name was mentioned by the older girl, Nekohara Aia, was it?

Sighing, she scratched the back over her neck as she stepped forward, raising her hand up slightly and weakly waved to the much shorter girl. "That would be me, Aia-senpai," she replied, in a respectful, matter-of-fact tone as she approached; despite her upperclassman's nervous behavior, she did make it here a year.

Pivoting around, she stared back at the beleaguered individuals and scanned over them all, appraising each of them and making a guess at which one was Akizawa. Considering they were organizing girls, he opted to ignore the very, very few boys in the group. Some girls she could ignore due to knowing their names already, so that left only a handful of people she could guess at.

Despite this all, her gaze always came back to the tall, muscle-bound girl. Adrianne could only silently pray that this girl was her roommate as she listlessly waited for one of the girls to approach.
