Neptune Experiment
Introduction
In the year 2030 humanity has made large leaps in genetic science. Learning how to modify a person's genes to stop sickness, aging(if you're wealthy) and even suppress certain types of emotions or wants. But the world is still imperfect a government known as The Federation governs the world through strict almost fascist like rules. There is mandatory curfew , martial law, food stamps. This is only if you are poor or middle class, the rich usually just bribe the guards or are even members of the Federation themselves and are seen to be fairly exempt from this treatment. Because of the state of the world a group of scientists have been secretly working on something called the Neptune Experiment, an Experiment where willing participants have agreed to have their genes modified to live underwater. The participants will try to survive underwater for a year, if the participants have survived the scientists will begin to secretly tell people that they have a chance for freedom. A colony will then be build underwater and a new chapter in the human race would begin as well.
Setting
The setting will take place all over the ocean. Our characters will explore the depths maybe going even as far as the twilight zone when trying to avoid Federation patrols. The beginning of the rp will take place the day of the genetic modification where our characters to through the surgery and in the country of Norway. After the first few posts though our characters will mostly be in the ocean. The continents are named the same as well as the countries so the seas and their different climates will also be described during the rp.
Plot
The plot is fairly simple our characters will be trying to survive in the ocean. Along the way they will have to dodge Federation patrols and if our characters are not careful could even be figured out by the Federation. Your characters decisions will heavily change the story of the rp and their actions will have consequences that could even be death if you're not careful.
Genetic modification
Our characters will have been modified to survive in the ocean. Well what does this mean? It means our characters will now have gill filaments inside their lungs causing them to appear human but are also able to now breathe underwater their eyes have also been modified to see in the darker areas of the ocean. Each characters genes are modified with DNA from a different marine animals well giving them abilities normal humans do not have. For example if your character has been modified with great white shark DNA they could have increased strength sharper teeth, a watered down form of a sharks bioelectric sense. These mutations also cause side effects though so if your character was genetically modified with great white shark DNA they would be more agressive, more prone to anger, and can lose control at the sight of blood. Any Marine animals DNA is available for your character to have been modified with and I will give you freedom of the abilities and side effects as long as they follow what the marine animal is capable of.
