I don't know about you Chukkle, but I figured Sun Magic would be harmful to everything, even not creatures of the night. Getting hit with a full, unshielded blast from the sun is going to do more than turn you a bit brown. Unless by sun magic you mean Holy, than I guess whatever...

Fire and Sun magic won't be hard due to their commonality.

Alteral's sun magic is specifically geared towards killing vampires and other creatures of Darkness, since that was his job back then. However, it is far less effective against creatures occupying the middle ground, such as normal people, and entirely noneffective against creatures of Light. His sun magic is the equivilent of Holy magic, although instead of effecting people based on moral alignment it effects them based on their Solar alignment.

For instance his magic is doing pretty good right now, since Night Lurkers are creatures of Darkness. Unfortunately it's also effecting him.

How long would you say It'll take to develop his unique fire magic based on his Sun magic? I'd say a week or so.

I had a fire elemental once...she was badass, with her mastery of red to white hot flames, and resistance to heat or burning. Unfortunately, she suffered smoke inhalation more than a few times. Retired early due to lung complications, died of lung cancer...

-.- <( . . . )

Shouldn't be a problem for your vampire, but they should prolly improve the element's resistance first and foremost...

Night lurkers are more like sensitive to light in general. Blinded and the such.

But a week of studying and practicing a fire based sun magic is quite reasonable

Gonna work on the post now. More Lurkers, mysterious presence etc. Everyday Fantasy stuff

Oh, so it's a matter of specialization than. That makes some sense.

Also Witch, generally speaking, does everyone have a certain "Specialization" towards certain magic, or is more like "You'll be able to do whatever you bother to put your time and effort into" sort of deal?

Little bit of both. With enough time, you are able to have a wide assortment of spells such as with RUmiko whose character has lived 300 years and is reasonable that she can do the sorts of spells she has.

Specialization will let you stack up on more spells of similar nature faster than being more versatile. Nothing is stopping you from learning fire magic and how to induce laughter. Just needs the time and focus.

Similar to how a heavy weight boxer body builder (earth magic) can still learn ballet(water magic). Just might be a tad harder due to his big and less than graceful bulk.

Alteral has had 200 years to work on his Sun and Healing magic. I wonder how powerful he is... Too bad his own magic can kill him.

Funny how magic works like that. Vera's sword could kill her too, but that's cause it's a sword.

By "It could kill him" I mean It's the equivalent of Vera holding her sword by the tip and swinging the hilt at people. It has the potential to kill him just by using it.

Hey, that's a totally legitimate way to use a sword! Just not Vera's.

That'd be blunt weapon damage. Skender's weapon is pretty dull, it's three battles away from becoming a blunt weapon.
:D

Made my speed edit, though I don't think much changed besides Luka not killing the lurker...I also realised that Skender was missing out on his typical foolery in the original post.

Depends if he used his vampire years to advance his abilities. WHich would be very hard

And the analogy I'd use would be a hiltless blade

The stem of a sword is called the tang, apparently...? Prolly hard to hold onto, the sword would probably go flying all the time without a proper hilt...

He's only been a vampire for 20 years. He had 180 beforehand to advance his magic.

hmm nice, so the watered down version of vampires that I am a part of has been around for a few centuries now...good to know thanks Witch (asked him via skype rather than clutter our amazing conversations lol) so Xavier's lightning based magic could be better if I have one of his alias' be a very old student of a very old academy or of a long dead lightning based magician/sorcerer, hmmm I will ponder this while I give everyone a picture...thankfully for MU not a spider but......

Also instead of a hiltless blade I'd saya reverse blade katana, or a double edged sword, both have the ability to injure the wielder if wielded improperly/if the user get's tired.

The issue with that analogy is that Alteral's magic hurts him no matter how properly he uses it, because the very essence of the spells hurt him.

Also that picture is actually a picture of that one spider i showed, he just got better at pretending he's a cat.
