I am looking into what people are interested in. Just throw out random things you like in a RP.

Also share some things you do not like as-well.

Thank you

I like urban fantasy, mostly, as well as the occasional slice of life.

I do not like role plays that are smut driven.

Might sound lame and vague but I'm primarily focused on having fun. When I read a check I look to see if the information is presented cleanly (aka is it a chore to read through?), if the setting grabs me, if the GM seems nice and if a potential character immediately comes to mind. A setting that's easy to create a character for is usually more fun for me, so I jump in. That's pretty much it, just whether I think it will be "fun" or not. Any genre, time period, theme, or feel is fine!

Lately i've really got into JoJo, so i've been trying to find an rp for it. I tried various discord servers, but none were really active for the right reason. I originally tried looking for a d&d game, but honestly I wasn't sure in the end.

I used to enjoy mainly medieval fantasy, D&D-esque type RPs. And I still do like those. Though in recent months I've been super into Wild West tales, both historical and weird west stuff. (With a slight preference toward semi-historical.)

As for the tales themselves... I want drama and action! Maybe romance. But bring on the gunslingin' outlaws, range wars, and rattlesnakes!

I'm not a fan of Slice of Life RP. I really like plot lmao plus it's just more fun for me when things happen and characters develop in a thematic way, which happens less in SoL

I usually like dystopian, western, or modern Roleplays with a slight futuristic twist. I also enjoy Roleplays that happen in a pre-existing settings (ex: historical, modern, fandoms, etc) because I'm notoriously terrible at building worlds and it's probably fair to even say that I hate it. I find building worlds to be tedious with usually very little payoff in the end. Building characters, however, is a different story and I very much enjoy that. I think that the genres that I dislike the most are slice-of-life, standard medieval fantasy, and smut-based plots. I'm also not fond of Roleplays where romance is the main focus though I'm pretty flexible with that and sometimes it can be executed in a fun way too. Roleplays that have users that I like in it tend to be a plus from time-to-time too.

Also miss me with those Roleplays with real life faceclaims. I'll take my weabooism to the grave.

Character development and plot development are my top two focuses in any RP. I can have fun in pretty much any kind of RP as long as our characters change from beginning to end, and the plot has a good rhythm of exciting climaxes and mellow middles of dialogue and world building. I love creating a whole story with my partners.

I've also recently been interested in exploring various forms of trauma that characters can go through, either in their backstories or throughout the RP. Mental health/illness and all the things that can affect it are very attention-grabbing to me.

I like rps that are basically "crime" and Marvel fandom sets. It's goes back to when I was 15. I started roleplaying dice-based mafia roles and comic book settings games. I haven't changed much. To me, the crime rps I get into features all the realistic elements you need. And Marvel Universe (MU) is a century old multiverse with practically everything in it.

There's always going to be different rps you like, but as far as what I like is crime rps, and MU rps.

High Fantasy: The best genre for all types of roleplayers. As rookies will have more room to breathe without being bogged down by strict logic and rules. (Think good Sci-Fi.) Writers have more room to be creative and worldbuild. And even lazy roleplayers will have less excuses for why they can't contribute. (When basically everything is on the table.) And those who are good at it, can make the very best out of the everything offered to them. Etc etc.

(Though really, you'd be hard pressed to find a genre that I can't enjoy.)

So what do I like to see in RP's I'm in?

Group RP's that let your decisions affect your own character and the plot
in meaningful ways. And 1x1's where both parties have free reign to actively contribute to the plot.

Sure, it's fairly basic building blocks for collabrative storytelling. But that doesn't mean you'll always get it. So it feels nice to get it when you do.

I don’t like horror and apocalyptic settings. The world is depressing enough, why ya gotta make it more depressing.

My favorite setting to play in is Pokémon. I also like Superhero type settings. But I do all sorts of things if the plot interests me.

I typically go for magic anime fantasy-type settings and pure SoL (high school and the like). Fandom roleplays are also pretty high on my priority list when it comes to roleplays. I also typically enjoy character-driven plots rather than having preset plots. I just...don't like to have all the burden. People should work together and create plots they all feel comfortable with so no triggers are at risk of being brought up.

You are applying for a Persona RP. Half of Persona games are Japanese slice of life.

@DruSM157

Persona is partially SoL, yeah, but all that burger-eating and tea-drinking is to improve gameplay and further the plot, I swear!

That said, the whole I really like plot lmao plus it's just more fun for me when things happen and characters develop in a thematic way, which happens less in SoL part is also technically correct. @stone has a point about the way people pace and write slice-of-life romances here on RPG and how they often are inorganic and not all that well-devised. This is not to say of everyone who writes it, mind you, but on the median average. RPers are impatient creatures by nature. Not sure what the fix is for that.

I like fighting skilled fighters, testing my wit against masterminds, interacting with waifus/husbandos, buddy moments, all swaddled in enough despair to deter the uninitiated while secretly the GM wants all the players to be happy.

Genre notwithstanding.

Usually.

I really like tabletop RPs, or just RPs with dice mechanics in general, where it really feels like a game and has some more unpredictability. Character driven rps, rps with a lot of character development, and equal amounts action + chill are also what I think of per the thread question.

As for specific genre, I love the whole monster catching genre so much, but I love anything with fantasy really. Then there's some fandoms I'm partial to, like Final Fantasy, Persona, and some others.

Ballrooms with a serious bodacsious girl, lady or Princess. I dont like swashbuckler\dames\damsels or soldier girls. The commando soul-reapress, fey-huntress, though I'm interested in.

Thieves guilds, swordsman guilds, ranger guilds, skateboarding, sky armadas.

And I generally am against magic/myths. If they need to entice I kill them instead, it's a marauders life that's the best! I will achieve Overlord.

Myths... I slay jabberwockies, ghasts\shades, slimes and oozes, skulls, carpets, rugs, sirens, fey, nymphs\dryads, alchemists, arcanists, necromancers, dragonologists and lit black candles just to be extraordinaire.

Animal heroes are totally awesome!

Well the RP's I like are more into the lines of action-adventure, anime, comedy (A bit), conflict (in various ways), drama (A bit), fantasy, game (video game), medieval, modern, open-world, romance, sci-fi and war (in some ways). Fandoms also in part of this with a topic as I love to have progression done in an RP either by story, time or characters.

For example, take Skyrim and the endless potential things that could be done there for stories.

I like my roleplays that are 50/50 with story and smut for a healthy balance.
