Name: Neirie (Neer-ee) Sothorett (Sothe-oh-Rhett)
Age: Looks 18 but she's actually around 1,100 years old
Supernatural Race: Vampire
Ethnicity/Race: Half Japanese, Half Scandinavian
Appearance:
She has very pale skin naturally, though she hasn't had 'natural' anything for as long as she can remember. But her Norse/Scandinavian heritage is most likely the cause of how marble like it appeared Before she was turned. Her hair is a deep black with an ever so slight blue tint to it. After she washes it it will either stay completely straight, like her mother's, or if she braids it or ties it into a tight bun it will keep a loose curl until she washes it again.
Against her pale skin and black hair her bright icy blue eyes stand out even in the lowest of lighting.
She's of a somewhat smaller stature standing at only 5'3" and though her vampire abilities give her strength and speed, she's never had much in the way of muscle mass. She looks to weigh around 118lbs give or take a few.
She keeps her nails long and sharpened almost like an animals claws,
and though she paints them for fun, they're more of a weapon than a decoration.
Her magical mark is a tattoo of a Lotus Moon with the Moon phases below it.
She has it placed on her chest, or between and slightly below her breasts.
Personality:
When around strangers or crowds she keeps mostly quiet and to herself. Always trying to keep an eye and ear out for any dangers or suspicious activity.
But when among close friends or associates (though those may be few) she's actually quite chipper and cheerful. She'll bounce around, soft giggles on her breath.
Don't think that that means she couldn't tear you limb from limb though, if she needed to. And she would do it with either a completely blank face, or a maddening Cheshire grin.
History:
Neirie was born to a Japanese mother and a Nordic 'merchant' father around the year 900. It was so long ago, she doesn't care or try to remember exactly anymore.
In truth her father was of the Viking variety, from somewhere near Uppsala. His family and fellow warriors made long journeys into Russia and Europe to ravage towns for unique spices, ingredients, materials, And slaves.
Upon one of their trips they came across merchant caravans. Her father took several of them for various uses. Some to trade or sell, some for chores like cooking and cleaning. But one, whom he took to trade, was different.
At first she seemed similar to other women he had taken from the caravan. But even after weeks back at his village, he could tell the other women seemed to shun her.
As it were they were from the 'Mainland'. And she was not.
A few years passed and as she grew close to Rorik, she learned his language and he in turn learned of her homeland. A beautiful large island with mountains, and trees like he'd never even heard of before. She told him of their traditions, rich foods and silks, of their warriors. It all made him want to aquire this great island. But he and his men would have to go farther than they ever had before.
Rorik, Nagi (as he had learned to call her) and some of Rorik's men, set out for the great island, trekking across the harsh environments or Russia and Europe. But as her father had learned more he fell in love.
Weeks after they had set out it became apparent that Nagi was with child. They were still months from reaching anything close to civilized and the more they traveled the weaker Nagi appeared to become.
After weeks of arguments with the other men, they agreed to help them build a shelter and move on. Still in hopes they could find this grand island even without Nagi's 'help'.
Back home Nagi had been trained to use a bow and had become quite skilled after Rorik helped her even more. They had found a quiet area to build near a small waterfall and pond. They had fresh water, fish and many wild beasts to hunt and eat. Though Rorik tried to keep up training however possible, the months passed easily it seemed.
Even though all the women had continued on with the warriors, Nagi had a long, but easy enough birth.
And so Neirie was born.
Several years passed in the valley they had called home, winters came and passed, some extremely harsh, others gentle though snowy. They had found mountain goats for milk, and continued to hunt and fish. Neirie learned all she could on how to survive. Bow hunting and gardening from her mother, fishing and how to keep strong and agile from her father.
Though her parents never saw the warriors that had left them again, they always wondered if they had made it to that grand island. And Rorik, getting older, wondered if they should leave their makeshift home, though a truly beautiful little paradise in itself, and try to at least make it to the island.
After a few more years. They decided to leave. About 4 months into Neirie's 18th year they packed what small belongings they had. And started to travel East. Not to conquer or attack the island as Rorik had once dreamed, but to perhaps find a paradise to live out their lives.
And then winter hit. Rorik had never been this far into the Russ lands.
One night in particular the blowing winds and icy snow drove them into a small cave like area. They decided to try and rest out the night.
As they slept though, their worst nightmare crept upon their sleeping bodies. Almost as quickly as lightening flashing, Rorik screamed out in shock. But only for a few seconds before a seemingly small figure dropped his lifeless body to the ground. Nagi and Neirie had both awoken, but lay frozen in shock and fear as they stared at the body of the man they loved.
Nagi suddenly tore into a rage and grabbed the nearest sharp object she could get her hand on. She nimbly threw herself right against the small figure, and slammed the object directly into it's chest.
Nothing moved. Neirie hadn't taken her eyes off the face of the small figure and a cruel grin scrambled across it's face. As her mother's body fell to the floor, a rage like nothing she had felt before swelled up inside her. She slowly stood to her feet, her black hair covering her face but her icy blue stare glaring from behind the strands
"So it seems i won't be able to kill you."
The bloody smile on the seemingly frail husk of a body twitched ever so slightly.
The body suddenly flashed away and appeared directly beside Neirie, facing the opposite way.
A harsh rattling voice came from the body "No, I'm afraid not."
Neirie kept her eyes forward, trembling ever so softly.
"How did you get this kind of power? It doesn't seem... Natural."
Neirie was barely able to think straight let alone realize this entire being was unnatural seeing as how it could hold a conversation with her no matter what language she spoke.
"You aren't afraid little human?"
The creature had disappeared and appeared again practically on top of her, breathing directly onto her neck.
Neirie tried to keep the shiver she felt down here spine as unnoticeable as possible.
"I just want to know how you got that power, i want it... For myself."
"So i can destroy you", She thought inwardly.
The creature laughed, though it sounded more like an animal dying.
"Well my little Darling. I suppose its time i had some help around the house."
Before Neirie could figure out what it meant, it dug its teeth deep into her neck. As she slowly sunk to the floor, her parents bodies were the last images burned into her vision.
She doesn't know how long she was asleep. It could have been hours, days, years even. All she knew is she wasn't expecting to wake up again. Ever. As she awoke and climbed out of a huge pillow filled bed, confusion was all she could muster.
She wandered around large corridors and hallways, for hours it seemed,
when she finally came to a large wooden door. Fearing she wouldn't be able to push it open, she firmly pressed her hands against it and pushed. The entire door, hinges and all went flying across the stone floor. While staring in blank shock a small figure came from the shadows.
"We're going to have to work on that Deary", the small husk from the cave came closer.
A snarl appeared on Neirie's face and as she was about to tackle the figure, it disappeared and reappeared next to her.
"Ah ah ah, Deary. Not yet. You'll get your chance one day, i assure you. But until then i have to make sure you're worthy to try and take me out. If you want my power, my abilities. You're going to have to learn. Only then will i let you try and take what's left of my life."
And so Neirie's training began. Years of meditation, fighting, honing her abilities. And years of planning, seeking the means to truly kill the man who took everything from her. While learning everything she could from him at the same time. Her first few hunts were difficult. And for the first 600 years or so she refused to hunt anything but animals. But then, around 1800, her master took her to the city. She had never seen so many humans, or lights, or anger and disgust. Her head hurt so badly she couldn't leave the hotel they stayed in for the first 3 days. And then as she wandered outside, she could smell fear and horror. So she followed it. As she turned a dark corner where any other normal person would have struggled to see what was happening. She noticed two men attacking a much smaller person. Are first she wasn't sure why they were fighting, and she didn't really want to get evolved, but as she turned away to leave, the sudden smell of pheromones coming from the men and the certain smell of fear coming from what she now realized was a small woman set her anger ablaze.
Her bright icy blue eyes turned a bright pink and her seemingly frail body disappeared from the alley and reappeared right next to the men.
Not having realized she had been in the alley at all the men continued to hold the woman and rip more clothing from her body. One of the man's hands was gripped tightly around the woman's mouth as they struggled, but when Neirie teleported to their side the woman's eyes widened in surprise.
One softly spoken word came from Neirie's lips.
"Stop". The men paused for a moment wondering how such a small person could have snuck upon them so easily. One laughed as the other continued ravaging the woman. One man reached with his hand to push the small girl standing next to them. Within a blink of the woman's eyes Neirie grabbed the mans hand, flipped him over and tore out his throat. Followed by grabbing the other man around the neck and sinking her teeth into his jugular. As she took her fill all she could think of was, i didn't mean to drink, or kill. I just wanted them to stop.
As she dropped the second mans dead body onto the ground she turned to the woman. Reaching out her hand, Neirie's face was almost childlike, she thought, as a smile spread across her face. The woman let out a piercing shriek as she tried to scuttled away, screaming Monster! Freak! As Neirie stayed where she was, hand still outstretched a puzzled look crept across her face. Her icy blue eyes shining normal again.
She was only trying to help? What on earth was wrong with this woman.
Suddenly, from a shadow nearby, a figure dropped onto the woman and her screaming stopped.
"No!" Neirie shouted as her master finished the woman off.
"Why? She'd done nothing wrong. She. She was only afraid?" A snarl crept across her lips in frustration.
"Because, My Deary. If they fear us, then they know about us, and if they know about us, they start to hunt us. All they are is fodder. Be a good Deary and go back to the hotel. We'll leave in the morning." He began teleporting the bodies to a nearby river. As he grabbed the last body another small word came from Neirie's lips "No".
Her master stopped, the womans body still dangling in his arms and he laughed. "No? What are you still hungry? " he threw the womans body onto the ground in front of Neirie.
"No. I will no longer obey you. I will no longer let you hurt innocents."
Her master began laughing hysterically in that gruesome noise. He teleported beside her and shoved his nose against her cheek.
"What are You going to do about it?"
Neirie's mind began to race. She was strong, but not nearly strong enough to kill her master. Not yet. But could she get away? Where would she go, who could she trust. No one and nowhere. Everything she knew, everyone was through her master. As her mind spun a million miles a second it suddenly stopped.
Sensing something was different, her master teleported directly in front of her in time to see a cruel Cheshire grin crawl across her face.
"I'll be back. I'll find you when I've learned enough. Become strong enough to finally destroy you. Until then. Just watch your back." And she disappeared.
Her master tried everywhere he knew of. Searched and sought. But for a very long time, it was as if she actually disappeared.
She had decided to spend awhile in the only home she had truly had. Back in the little valley, next to the waterfall and pond.
After several years she began traveling again. Searching for someone to train her enough to destroy her master.
She heard of Gravette and decided there might be a good place to start.
Strengths:
As is normal with most vampires all her senses are heightened. Speed, strength, agility, sight, smell, hearing, endurance.
Weaknesses:
She has typical weakness to fire and pure silver objects. However she never understood where the idea of being weak to Garlic came from. She never had an issue. In fact she LOVES garlic. Its one of the few things she can actually Taste. She rarely if ever Eats human food. But when she does she also asks for whatever it is to be smothered in Garlic.
Other weaknesses include her feelings towards the weak. If someone were to use that to say fake an attack so they could get her close. She would try to help someone in trouble first.
Her master. Though she actually never learned his 'name' she knows he is ancient and powerful. She also knows it is for sure, or was at one point a He.
Stance:
Inactive/uncaring. As far as vampires or super natural beings as a whole she doesn't care. She isn't really for or against them. She'll try to protect innocent humans if she comes across it. But she doesn't go out searching to stop supernatural beings or save humans. But if it comes to her Master. She will try to destroy him. And anyone who tries to get in her way. And she's not against supernatural beings in general because she knows she needs to learn more from them and that there is a lot of 'good' beings out there too.
Special Power/Skill:
She learned the power of teleportation from her master, as well as, almost, completely masking her presence. Regular vampires are hard to detect yes. But she learned to specifically hide her supernatural scent from almost anyone. As well as her blatant presence from most any creature.
Though her skills in archery were mostly gained during her human years, she kept up with them during all her supernatural years. Having better senses as a vampire only made her love for archery grow. And she became even more skilled.
She owns a compact, compound bow that she carries in quickly attachable pieces in her Batpack.
Along with compact arrows. She cannot in fact turn into a bat, but she wears the backpack like wings, and she can teleport. *shrugs*
Other:
Whenever she becomes extremely angry or emotional, or if its been a crucial amount of time since she's fed, her eyes will start to change from an icy blue to a bright pink. She's never noticed it happen and no ones really mentioned it to her. So she actually doesn't know it happens.
Her teleportation is usually instant. And though she usually has to have been to that location before, she has once or twice teleported to places she's 'seen' rather than physically 'been to' before. But that rarely ever occurs.
Though she is Inactive/Uncaring in the overall war. If she see's or senses an innocent human being attacked, whether by another human or supernatural. She will try and stop it.
Doesn't matter if they're just feeding or what have you. If she's within sensing distance. And the creature being attacked its helpless or innocent. She will first try to stop the attacker/pursuer. If her last choice is to kill, or the attacker/pursuer will not respond to her or explain. She will go into 'beast mode'. All i can say is no one has gotten away from her unscathed once in that mode.
