Username: hatakekuro

Name: Durandel Strauss

Nicknames: The Savage of Ferox

Age: 30

Gender: Male

Birthday: August 15

Class: Taguel

Allied to?: Regna Ferox (will join the Shepards)

Weapons: Beaststone

Appearance:

Personality: Durandel is a carefree soul that only seems to care about enjoying life to the fullest and having fun. He is a kind man who goes above and beyond for his allies and will always be there for the when they need him. An ability he has is to make people feel comfortable around him and then befriend them without much of a problem. It is undeniable that this guy is very rowdy and hardy, only showing that he is up for a good time at anytime. However he knows that there is a time and place to act like that so he will be on his best behavior when the situation calls for it.

Despite his bright and sunny personality, some people tend feel uneasy around him because of a "beast like aura" that seems to come off him. They are right to feel that; he is truly a monster on the battlefield. When he fights, people who have had the chance to fight tend to him describe as a demon that bathes in his enemy's blood. Durandel never uses strategy when he fights, he just uses pure instinct and skill to maim his opponents. Some could say that he has the most fun when he fights, especially against an opponent of great skill and power.

Biography:
Durandel was only a small child when he has abandoned in the cold winters of Ferox. Why he was abandoned is hard to say. Maybe he belonged to a family that couldn't afford to raise him and decided to leave him to die or a prisoner of some bandits that decided to leave him because he was extra baggage. Maybe his parents were just killed and he was the sole survivor of whatever tragedy? Whatever happened doesn't matter. He was still alone. He was still cold and he was still hungry. The child only wandered aimlessly although one would expect him to be crying and yelling for help, but that wasn't the case. Durandel wanted to fight for his life, so he can live even though the odds were against him. It was only natural for him to have a desire to fight; it's a pure animalistic instinct that all animals, including humans, have. Hours went by as he made his way through the icy forest, only for brigands to find him and attempt to kidnap him. These weren't ordinary brigands; they were ones stealing women and children to sell them as slaves to make a profit. This group attempted to grab the boy and steal him away...it didn't go well. Durandel stole one of the daggers being pointed at him and he quickly killed them all, their bloody painting the ground crimson. Meanwhile, soldier's from Ferox had discovered the whereabouts of the group of brigands and went immediately to put an end to their trade only to discover them already dead with only a young boy standing their with his hands covered in blood and a smile on his face. The troops were astounded and confused by the spectacle. They didn't know what to do with this kid until they decided to bring this child with him back to the barracks. After much discussion, they brought Durandel into their ranks as a trainee. As the years went on, the boy had become a man and as he became a man, his fighting skills surpassed even the mightiest of generals in Ferox's army. He became famous through out the continent for his beast like fighting style and his undeniable skill. As of now, he has been on a journey to go find as many strong opponents to duel to the death with.

Quirk: No one can out drink him. His alcohol tolerance levels are superhuman.

Strengths:
Has unnatural speed and strength
Has the fighting instinct of a wild animal.
Has a strong will to live and never die.

Weaknesses:
Dairy (lactose intolerance)
Is extremely reckless in battle.
Extremely prideful and will not turn down a challenge that stains his honor.

Likes: Beer, duels, music, his friends, reading stories of legends of long ago, dogs, parties

Dislikes: wine, sticks in the mud, politics, cats, yams, thinking

Romantic Interest: available

There's also the 3 limit on strengths, and the equal number of weaknesses to strengths clause. :p

The best thing is, I can store some in my beard for later.

Incidentally, I just thought of another question: Since we're keeping this RP relatively close to the game mechanics, how do weapon proficiencies work? And for that matter, how do classes work? Is it fair to assume that if my character found a lance she would know how to use it? And would doing so automatically promote her to a Wyvern Lord? What if she found a sword? Presumably (as with the archer in my most recent post) she would know which is the business end and could at least use it as a backup weapon. Or is the whole class thing just so people have an idea for a starting point? (I.E Axes are her main weapons, but that doesn't mean she couldn't kill someone with a lance or sword as well).

Obviously I have no plans for her to suddenly start exploiting the weapon triangle by carrying all three weapons about, she'll definitely be sticking to axes for the time being, I'm simply curious as it's a bridge we may come to down the road.

I think the backup weapon idea would not work. In the end, it would only be a improvised axe that is very long and pointy with less weight in the blade.

Well, my thinking was more that any soldier in any army isn't only going to be trained with one weapon. I can't think of any reason why a foot soldier would be trained with a lance but not a sword. Especially when they were recruits, before they picked a specialization, it would make sense if they at least got given basic training with swords, lances, bows, etc. Magic and staves is another thing, of course, so I wouldn't dream of suggesting that she could pick up either of those and start using them, but it makes sense to my mind at least that a General with 30 years of fighting experience wouldn't be like "You expect me to fight with a sword? I wouldn't even know how!" just because that's how they are in game mechanics.
